What does "<?=" mean when seen in PHP

Sorry for the silly question, but I ran across code that used:

<?=$MAP_OBJECT->printOnLoad();?>
<?=$MAP_OBJECT->printMap();?>
<?=$MAP_OBJECT->printSidebar();?>

Is there anything special about <?= over <?php or just plain <? ?
