perl imagemagick, rotation ruins crop

Im using perl's imagemagick.

i can rotate a picture, and i can crop a picture.

but after rotating a picture, cropping is all messed up.

it's like theres some underlying data in the picture that is damaging the crop operation.

how can i crop a picture after having rotated it in imagemagick?
