As the title states, when my CD/DVD drive is enable my computer freezes showing a diagonal patter on the monitor. This is what has been attempted (DF - didn't fix): (1) cleaned regsitry file - DF; (2) uninstalled and installed driver HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA T20L ATA - DF; Yelled profanities at the computer - DF but I felt better.

I want to install OS 7 but this makes it much more complicated. It's appearing as a hardware issue to me, however, what do I know. Any suggestions?
