1080p HD TV + what is minimum spec pc required to stream HD movie files to it?

I want to stream hi-def (non flash-based) movies from my future minimum spec pc to my network-ready HDTV.

What I want to know is

a) when streaming from a computer (local wifi network), is the computer's cpu/video/ram resources used to the same extent as it would be if playing back on the computers local screen? If not what are the differences?

b) So with streaming hd content what is the minimum spec processor I should go for, if i) only one TV is acting as client ii) two TVs are simultaneous clients.
