Minecraft not working on Ubuntu 11.10, Java 7

I got into Minecraft 2 months ago and just today I switched to Ubuntu. I downloaded Java from the special script (http://www.duinsoft.nl/packages.php?t=en) and after I verified it said it was installed.

So I downloaded the Minecraft.jar file and ran it through the Java runtime. It updated like the launcher should...

... And it froze. Went black, didn't even get to the Mojang screen.

Please help me! Minecraft is my favorite game and I can't stand to lose it.
