installer hanging during .net 4.5 framework install

I am having trouble installing Visual studio 2012 Premium Edition.

I kick off the installer for it but it hangs when installing .net 4.5 framework. I have left it for hours but there is no progression in the progress bar.

I have downloaded the .net 4.5 framework separately and tried to install that from msi but that also hangs similarly.

The only way to kill it is by killing the process.

Any ideas how I could resolve this issue, or what I need to do to trouble shoot it further? Any tips?
