Git cloning for Ubuntu Kernel gave error: index-pack died of signal 9447381

My /usr/src is found empty. So I tried to install a fresh Kernel. But was unsuccessful with some error. I did this:

git clone git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-precise.git

but it gave this error message:

error: index-pack died of signal 9447381), 802.20 MiB | 88 KiB/s    
fatal: index-pack failed

My current Kernel version is 3.8.13-bone20 #1 in LINUX -Ubuntu-armhf

Can anyone help me to solve this?
