  • Making Windows 7 default to "All Files" when opening a document?

    I'm taking over an old coworkers job and part of that means I'll be working on various IFS tickets without any real ERP experience. I'm working with one user who is trying to check in documents in IFS. Right now, IFS defaults to JPEGs and then she has to select "All Files" in order find PDFs. Example: http://i.imgur.com/xK0iAfF.png As much as I'd like to say "it's one extra step, come on" the user's manager has insisted it interrupts her workflow and asked us to get on it. I've spoken with our IFS experts and they're unaware of any setting that would make the open dialog default to All Files in IFS. I've searched in Google for any setting in Windows 7 that would do that - but those have been unsuccessful - I keep getting results about changing which program opens a specific file type.

  • Mailing list with dynamically generated addresses

    I am trying to implement a dynamic mailing list from a database that changes quite often. Conditions: Postfix is the MTA Email addresses are in a MySql Database Postfix only allows senders whose emails are in that database (via smtpd_sender_restrictions) Cron job extracts the current emails from the database nightly and puts them into an alias file, then runs postalias on it. This works well, but since the sender remains the same, many domains are rejecting the email since my server is not a DNS listed mail server for the sender's domain. So, I either have to find a way to re-write the outgoing address as "listserv@mydomain" or find some mailing list package that will use database-retrieved emails (either queried directly or in a flat file) as the subscriber list, with that list replaced daily. I've tried Sympa and am pretty much ready to give up on it - it's a nightmare to get working right - but that's the only open source listserver that I have seen that works with dynamic mail lists. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Joe

  • How do I set "relay_hosts_only" setting using sendmail / m4

    We're using CentOS and sendmail's m4 configuration. How do I set domains where emails should be delivered? I only want two domains, and would like email to all other domains blocked. I tried this in my "/etc/mail/sendmail.mc" file ... FEATURE(`relay_hosts_only,mydomain1.com,mydomain2.com')dnl But then got this error tryiing to generate the sendmail.cf file ...   • Vim - How Recognize Spaces as Tabs (set listchars=tab)

    I wonder if it is possible to use a configuration for that command "set listchars=tab:¦¦,trail:·" to "see" 4 spaces as tabs and get the effect of the picture below (using real tabs)... I use the setting "set expandtab" to Vim use spaces in place of tabs. I really need to use spaces instead of tabs, but I would keep the functionality above. There is some form of do this? Here's how Vim behaves when I use "set expandtab"... ... I wish he recognized one tab for every 4 spaces like above! My setup for tabs... set tabstop=2 set shiftwidth=2 set softtabstop=2 set expandtab Thank you!

  • How can I compare effective power usage of two CPUs / CPU+Mobo+Mem combinations?

    I have this server which does mostly file sharing (with the associated storage). No serious number crunching and it isn't the firewall. My current box has a Celeron D processor (Prescott 336 2.8 GHz); and I'm considering replacing it with a Pentium D (Smithfield 805 2.66 GHz) - for reasons which do not involve performance. How can I know whether one can expect a higher or lower power consumptipn for the change? And how can I estimate the power consumption for each option?

  • Streaming from a second computer

    I play games on my laptop, and they run at about 30-45 fps, which is bearable for me. But when I try to stream, the frame rate drops to 20 or lower, which is unplayable for me. I have a second computer though (a Mac, the laptop is Win7), and I'm wondering if there is anyway to stream the game content (onto Twitch.tv) from my laptop using my Mac. Is this possible, and how would I go about doing it?

Would it be possible to plot the above data in a chart or coordinate system. Where the each plot should be a summary of all sales in the same map coordinate. Also a similar chart of order count would be nice to have.

    I work with Windows 8.1 and today I installed Ubuntu 14.04 alongside it, but now I can't set the boot menu to display both OS. When I boot the system it normally loads Windows 8.1 without opening the boot menu. I created a boot USB with Yumi. When booting with Yumi and selecting "boot from hard disk", Ubuntu turned on. My drives: My laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook AH532/G52 and the BIOS is a Phoenix v1.10

  • How can I open a console application with a given window size?

    The application I want to start is MongoDB. If I would start it normally, it looks like this: I don't like the amount of line breaks and I have a lot of screen space, so I would like to utilize said space to get rid of the line breaks. I can change the size of the console window with MODE, so I wrote a batch file like this: @ECHO OFF MODE con:cols=140 lines=70 %~dp0mongodb\bin\mongod --dbpath %~dp0data --rest So far, so good. When I start this batch file, I get a larger window, as desired. But when I now press Ctrl+C to exit MongoDB, I get the annoying prompt: Terminate batch job (Y/N)? Which is useless, because the command I just exited out of was the last command in the batch job anyway and no matter what I answer, the result is the same. So, how can I get a larger console window for the application without having that prompt when I hit Ctrl+C?

    I'm running a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Virtual Machine. Last week, the VM stopped unexpectedly now mysql will not start on the VM. These two events may be related, they may not be.   • OS Missing? Messed up the MBR on Win7 64-bit

    I have a Windows 7 machine with two hard drives: a 1TB C: drive and 500GB J:. I had Windows XP installed on C: and Windows 7 installed on J:. I installed Windows 7 after Windows XP from an installer .exe I (legally) bought and downloaded. It, and all of my other files, are sitting on my J: drive intact. While under my Windows 7 install, a few days ago I decided to use Priform's CCleaner and use its DriveWipe utility to wipe the C: drive. 1% into the process, I cancelled and attempted to use it again. It gives me an error saying it can't format the drive, so I poke around the Internet a bit, give up, and restart my computer. I first get an "OS is missing" error after the computer boots past the BIOS. I downloaded and put UBCD on a bootable USB to use another drivewiping tool to completely erase the C: drive, hoping it'll take the problem with it. No luck. I try to use TestDisk to make my J: my primary active drive, but no luck. I still get the "OS is missing" error. Or sometimes it'll hang at Verifying DMI Pool. Or sometimes I'll get the "NTLDR is missing" error. I get hold of Hiren's and put it on another bootable USB. I first I tried the Boot Windows 7 from Hard Drive option, and I get "Error 15: File Not Found". I tried the "Fix 'NTLDR is Missing'" option (I'm not quite sure why this is even showing up, since I'm trying to get into a HDD with Windows 7 installed. Probably messed up somewhere when I used TestDisk) and I get this list: I'll run through the error messages I get: 1st Try - Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\hal.dll 2nd Try - Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe 3rd Try - Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. 4th - 8th Try - Same as #3 9th Try - I/O Error accessing boot sector file multi(0)disk(0)fdisk(0)\BOOTSEC.DOS. And computer freezes. 10th Try - computer restarts Needless to say, not a single one of those works. I then tried to open up the Windows 7 exe I have sitting on my J: from the Mini-XP OS on Hiren's, but it won't run because I'm trying to run a 64-bit file from a 32-bit exe. At least, that's the problem according to these guys: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...-b2f54e9c7d18/ I then borrowed a 64-bit Windows Home Premium CD from a friend to get to the recovery options. But I get the error message: This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows. I pressed Shift + F10 to get to the Command Prompt directly. These are the exact steps I took from there (paraphrased a little): X:\Sources>bootrec /Fixmbr The operation completed successfully. X:\Sources>bootrec /Fixboot The operation completed successfully. I restarted my computer, but it still didn't work. I unplugged the C: drive, then tried bootrec and Diskpart: X:\Sources> bootrec.exe X:\Sources> bootrec /RebuildBcd Total identified Windows installations: 1 [1] \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows Add installation to bootlist?   • Windows 7 & kodak printer esp 7

    I have bought a new PC with Windows 7 and a Kodak wireless printer esp 7. I can't download the software always unsuccessful and can't connect to my printer. Any suggestions? Edit (from the other, duplicate question): Still having problems with printing. I did get it working by removing 'bonjour' but turned on yesterday and hey presto it's not working again. The printer is installed and showing as disconnected. Any ideas now? The chat doesn't work with Windows 7, I have downloaded the latest version, they take ages to answer emails, need to print stuff urgently. It's driving me insane!! Please help.

  • gitk looks ugly / doesn't honor theme settings

    I'm running Xubuntu, (actually linux mint with xfce on top, but I suppose it's essentially the same thing) I set my appearance theme to (a modified version of) MurrinaStormCloud, but if I run gitk, it uses ugly font rendering, ugly colors, ugly widgets. I think tcl is the thing to blame here, but can I fix it? Here's a picture for comparison between what firefox looks like under the current theme and what gitk looks like:

  • USB cable model for Kodak EasyShare Z740

    I've lost the original USB cable for my Kodak EasyShare Z740, and I can't figure out which model I should replace it with. I did not find the original parts, as the camera is pretty old. I did find the cable on the Kodak site, but I I've tried both mini-USB and micro-USB and neither fit. Alternatively, bonus points for pointing out a dealer in Bucharest, Romania which has the original part. N.B. I do use a card reader now, but I find it more convenient to use the cable.

  • Does Your Customer Engagement Create an Ah Feeling?

No one would argue that brands don’t want to leave customers with this “ah” feeling. Since 94% of customers who have a low-effort service experience will buy from that company again, it makes financial sense for brands.1 Some brands are thinking differently about how they engage their customers to create ah feelings. How do they do it? Toyota is a great example of using smart assistance technology to understand customer intent and answer questions before customers hit the submit button online. What is unique in this situation is that Toyota captures intent while customers are filling out email forms. Toyota analyzes the data in the form and suggests responses before the customer sends the email. The customer gets the right answer, and the email never makes it to your contact center — which makes you and the customer happy. Most brands are fully aware of chat as a service channel, but some brands take chat to a whole new level. Beauty.com, part of the drugstore.com and Walgreens family of brands, uses live chat to replicate the personal experience that one would find at high-end department store cosmetic counters. Trained beauty advisors, all with esthetician or beauty counter experience, engage in live chat sessions with online shoppers to share immediate advice on the best products for their personal needs. Agents can watch customer activity online and determine the right time to reach out and offer help, just as help would be offered in a brick-and-mortar store. And, agents can co-browse along with the customer helping customers with online check-out. These personal chat discussions also give Beauty.com the opportunity to present products, advertise promotions, and resolve customer issues when they arise. Beauty.com converts approximately 25% of chat sessions into product orders. Photobox, the European market leader in online photo services, wanted to deliver personal and responsive service to its 24 million members. It ensures customer inquiries on personalized photo products are routed based on agent knowledge so customers get what they need from the company experts. By using a queuing system to ensure that the agent with the most appropriate knowledge handles the query, agent productivity increased while response times to 1,500 customer queries per day decreased. A real-time dashboard prevents agents from being overloaded with queries. This approach has produced financial results with a 15% increase in sales to existing customers and a 45% increase in orders from newly referred customers.
