  • How to efficiently get all instances from deeper level in Cocoa model?

    In my Cocoa Mac app I have an instance A which contains an unordered set of instances B which in turn has an ordered set of instances C. An instance of C can only be in one instance B and B only in one A.   I would like to have an unordered set of all instances C available on instance A. I could enumerate over all instances B each time, but that seems expensive for something I need to do often. However, I am a bit worried that keeping track of instances C in A could become cumbersome and be the cause of  inconsistencies, for example if an instance C gets removed from B but not from A.  Solution 1 Use a NSMutableSet in A and add or remove C instances whenever I do the same operation in B.  Solution 2 Use a weak referenced NSHashTable in A. When deleting a C from B, it should disappear for A as well.  Solution 3 Use key value observing in A to keep track of changes in B, and update a NSMutableSet in A accordingly.  Solution 4 Simply iterate over all instances B to create the set whenever I need it.   Which way is best? Are there any other approaches that I missed?  NB I don't and won't use CoreData for this app.

  • How to test COM object integrity automatically?

    Every COM object must have integrity. In simplified terms this means that if an object implements 3 interfaces - A, B and C and I have A* pointer to the object I must be able to successfully QueryInterface() both B and C and having B I must be able to retrieve A and C and having C I must be able to retrieve A and B. Now my object implements 5 interfaces and I want to test its integrity. Writing checks for all of the above myself will require a substantial effort. Is there a tool or some easily tweakable code or a code pattern that would do it?

  • WCF Ria Services Error : Load operation failed for query 'GetTranslationProgress'

    Hello, I am using WCF Ria Services beta in my silverlight application. I have a long running task on the server which keeps writing its status to a database table. I have a "GetTranslationProgress" Ria Service Query method which queries the state to get the status. This query method is called continuously at a regular interval of 5 seconds until a status = Finished or Error is retrieved. In some cases if the task on the server is running for a long duration 2-3 minutes then I receives this error:- Load operation failed for query 'GetTranslationProgress'. The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error. at System.Windows.Ria.OperationBase.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.LoadOperation.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.CompleteLoad(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.<c_DisplayClass17.b_13(Object ) The error occurs intermittently and I have no idea what could be causing this error. I have checked most of the forums and sites but I have not been able to find out any solution to this issue. Please help.

  • C# Using Enumerable Range and Except with custom class to determine missing sequence number

    I have a List<MyClass> The class is like this: private class MyClass { public string Name{ get; set; } public int SequenceNumber { get; set; } } I want to work out what Sequence numbers might be missing. I can see how to do this here however because this is a class I am unsure what to do?   • Are there any Parsing Expression Grammar (PEG) libraries for Javascript or PHP?

    I find myself drawn to the Parsing Expression Grammar formalism for describing domain specific languages, but so far the implementation code I've found has been written in languages like Java and Haskell that aren't web server friendly in the shared hosting environment that my organization has to live with. Does anyone know of any PEG libraries or PackRat Parser Generators for Javascript or PHP? Of course code generators in any languages that can produce Javascript or PHP source code would do the trick.

  • using wbadmin to backup and recover

    HI I am using wbadmin to perform backups of a specific folder, primarily to backup my VHD files this is working fine but I tried to recover the files today using a different machine to the one which created the backup and couldnt get the machine doing the recovery to 'see' the backups. Is there a way to do this as my worry is that if I have a failure on the host which is perfmorming the backups I need to be able to install hyper-v on another host and recover the backed up VMs to there until I can rebuild the host. It appears that this isnt possible, I am hoping I am missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Exchange server not serving mobile devices - how to troubleshoot?

    Our exchange server has suddenly stopped serving mobile devices. Attempts to connect result in our ActiveSync server returning HTTP 500. It is serving outlook clients fine. Our server is Windows 2003 SBS 6.5 SP2 There are no abnormal events in the system log. I ran the "Exchange ActiveSync with AutoDiscover" at https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ I've notice an abnormality in the exchange properties, Log File Directory shows: Access denied. Facility: Win32 ID no: 80070005 Exchange System Manager As shown in the following image: I think it may be related to a recent issue we had here: http://serverfault.com/questions/40222/windows-server-2003-suddenly-unable-to-connect-to-anything We followed a procedure to reinstall TCP/IP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325356 I've run the "exchange activesync" connectivity test at testexchangeconnectivity.com: Attempting to Resolve the host name mail.immersive.com.au in DNS.   • Keyboard doesn't work after Windows resume from sleep (S3) -- how to fix?

    I have a weird issue with my keyboard after resuming from S3 sleep: I can type perfectly for maybe 5 seconds, but afterwards the keyboard ceases to work until I hibernate or restart (or sleep again -- see below.) The rest of my system runs just fine -- just the keyboard apparently "freezes" up. Some closer observations: The keyboard will work for 5 seconds (and freeze again) every time I resume from sleep, even if it was frozen from a previous sleep The caps lock light will work fine within the 5 seconds. But after the keyboard "freezes", the light will remain on, but I'll be unable to turn it off. Perhaps this means power wasn't cut off from the keyboard, but it's just some software freezing up the port??? Given this info, would this indicate a problem with Windows itself? Drivers, maybe? Can I rule out the BIOS as the culprit? Finally, any ideas on how to fix? Thanks! Specs: Windows 7 x64 HP tx1000 laptop

  • Are any of these quad-tree libraries any good?

    It appears that a certain project of mine will require the use of quad-trees, something that I have never worked with before. From what I have read they should allow substantial performance enhancements than a brute-force attempt at the problem would yield. Are any of these python modules any good? Quadtree 0.1.2 <= No: unable to execute in Python 3.1 QuadTree <= Yes: simple while working with rectangles quadtree.py <= No: no support for needed operations EDIT: Does anyone know of a better implementation that the one presented on the pygame wiki article?

This works great, except the HTML rendering built into the TextField object leaves a lot to be desired. Could anyone recommend any libraries that would allow me to display HTML elements?   • will mmap use user cpu instead of whole sys cpu? (solaris)

    when use mmap to allocate some anonymous mem, we often set the start address as 0/null so mmap will figure out the starting address by itself. And to get the start address, it will work thought the whole virtual memory space to find a hole which could put the chuck of mem to be allocated. I guess this is calculated as user cpu instead of sys cpu. If the virtual memory is fragmented, then the time to find the starting address will use more user cpu, is my understanding correct

My Problem is that the Cookies does not work. Everytime the Website says that I should activate Cookies but i activated the Cookies trough a Cookiecontainer. I sniffed the traffic serveral times for the login progress and I see no problem there. I tried different methods to login and I have searched if someone else have this Problem but no results...   • Sql Server Select Command and too much data sent to winforms application

    When you have an application and send a select command, the sql server gathers all the data and sends them back to your application and fills your datagrid (for example) If you performed the same select command in sql management studio, immediately as the query starts running and finding data the results panel would start filling with the data found. How can I do that for my winforms application? Is there a technique or a standard method of doing something like this? Links to good examples would be an immense help. thanks
