  • How to send parameters with same encoding from javascript?

    I have a javascript file that lots of people have embedded to their pages. Since I am hosting the file, I have control over that javascript file; I cannot control the way it is embedded because lots of people is using it already. This javascript file sends GET requests to my servlets, and the parameters passed with the request are recorded to DB. For example, javascript sends a request to http://myserver.com/servlet?p1=123&p2=aString and then servlet records 123 and aString to DB somehow. Before sending strings I use encodeURIComponent() to encode it. But what I figured out is every client sends the same string with different encodings depending on either their browser or the site they are visiting. As a result, same strings are represented with different characters when it reaches servlet (so they are different strings). What I am trying to do is to convert the strings to one kind of encoding from javascript so when they reach the client same words are represented with same characters. How is this possible? PS. If there is a way to convert the encoding from Java it is also applicable.

    Hello together! [First, I'm an absolute beginner. I tried to express myself as good as I could - please correct me on any issue... Now: I have the following problem:] I am loading a div element, which class always is ".gallery" from a couple of pages (in this example "the page index.php?page=orange") into another page's div (in this case with the ID "orange") using the following code: $("#orange").load("http://example.com/index.php?page=orange .gallery"); Each div.gallery I load in, is a set of a few images. Between them, you can switch (there are "previous"- and "next"-links in ".imgnavi"). $(".imgnavi a").live("click", function(ev) { ev.preventDefault(); ev.stopPropagation(); $(".gallery").load($(this).attr("href")); return false; }) What happens now: Loading the different div.gallery into the new page is no problem, but as soon as I start to navigate inside those divs (each div is a little gallery, where you can switch between images), the div.gallery I am switching in is suddenly loaded into EVERY other div.gallery in the document! How do I prevent that?

Is there a way to display a static (shared) object or the object's properties in the PropertyGrid?

  • Change Style/Look of Asp:CheckBox using CSS

    I want to change the standard "3D" look of the standard asp.net checkbox to say solid 1px. If I try to apply the styling to the Border for example it does just that - draws the standard checkbox with a border around it - which is valid I guess. Anyway, is there a way to change how the actual textbox is styled?

    I'm studying for my CCNA exam and I have to create a VLSM scheme using RIP-2 for the following requirements: (this is an exercise) Use the class C network 192.168.1.0 network for your point-to-point connections Using the Class A network 10.0.0.0, plan for the following number of hosts in each location: New York: 1000 Chicago: 500 Los Angeles: 1000 On the LAN and point-to-point connections, select subnet masks that use the smallest ranges of IP addresses possible given the above requirements. In all cases, use the lowest possible subnet numbers. Subnet zero is allowed. My guess is the following: New York: S0/0 192.168.1.1 /24 Fa0/0 10.1.0.1 netmask 255.255.248.0 - because we need 1000 hosts Chicago: S0/0 192.168.1.2 /24 Fa0/0 10.2.0.1 netmask 255.255.252.0 (for 500 hosts) Los Angeles: S0/0 192.168.2.3 /24 Fa0/0 10.3.0.1 netmask 255.255.248.0 (for 1000 hosts) Is this a good configuration?   • Asynchronous email processing in Java web application

    Hi everyone, I would like to implement asynchronous email sending in my web application when users register for a new account. This is so that if there is a problem or delay in sending the email message (e.g. the mail server is down or the network connection to the mail server is slow) the user won't be kept waiting for the sending to complete. My web app is built using Spring and Hibernate's implementation of JPA. What would be the best and most reliable way for me to implement asynchronous email processing in this web application? I am thinking about persisting the email information in a database table which is then regularly polled by a Quartz (http://www.opensymphony.com/quartz/) scheduled job for updates and when it finds new unsent emails, it attempts to send them. Is this a reasonable way of implementing what I want? Thanks.

  • How to check if a field is an Image field

    Hello, This might seem an easy question for some, but I am struggling with it. I am trying to use SQLDataReader.GetFieldType to check if a certain field is an Image field. Lets assume the first field of the result set is an Image field, if I do: reader.GetFieldType(0).ToString; I get System.Byte[] But is this the correct way to check for it? I really don't like: if (reader.GetFieldType(0).ToString="System.Byte[]") Is there a better way? Thanks, AJ

  • PowerPoint record slide show function accessible through Interop with C#

    I am currently trying to write an addin for PowerPoint that whenever any PowerPoint document is opened and then run in show mode that the feature to record narration audio and slide timings is automatically activated. However I cannot seem to find that option in the PowerPoint interop object The manual in application way to use this feature in Powerpoint 2007 is under the "Slide Show" tab of the ribbon called "Record Narration". I have found under that I can set under Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.SlideShowSettings.AdvancedSettings to RehearseNewTimings but this does not record narration audio. Does anyone know if this is even possible? Or if I am completely on the wrong track here. Thanks in advance for any repsonse

  • Opening Visual Studio created XAML in Expression Blend

    I have created a console application using Visual Studio 2008. In a few cases, this application shows a WPF dialog. Now, the design view of Visual Studio is a little limited, so I'd like to edit this dialog using Expression Blend 3. Blend does not seem to have an option to load individual XAML files, and when I open my solution in Blend, only the XAML code is displayed when I try to edit the dialog. Edit: I've noticed, that no IntelliSense is available in the text view either. When I create a new WPF Project inside Blend, and copy my dialog there (overwriten MainWindows.xaml), I get a design view. What do I have to do to actually get a design view here?   • Reasons for & against a Database

    Hi, i had a discussion with a coworker about the architecture of a program i'm writing and i'd like some more opinions. The Situation: The Program should update at near-realtime (+/- 1 Minute). It involves the movement of objects on a coordinate system. There are some events that occur at regular intervals (i.e. creation of the objects). Movements can change at any time through user input. My solution was: Build a server that runs continously and stores the data internally. The server dumps a state-of-the-program at regular intervals to protect against powerfailures and/or crashes. He argued that the program requires a Database and i should use cronjobs to update the data. I can store movement information by storing startpoint, endpoint and speed and update the position in the cronjob (and calculate collisions with other objects there) by calculating direction and speed. His reasons: Requires more CPU & Memory because it runs constantly. Powerfailures/Crashes might destroy data. Databases are faster. My reasons against this are mostly: Not very precise as events can only occur at full minutes (wouldn't be that bad though). Requires (possibly costly) transformation of data on every run from relational data to objects. RDBMS are a general solution for a specialized problem so a specialized solution should be more efficient. Powerfailures (or other crashes) can leave the Data in an undefined state with only partially updated data unless (possibly costly) precautions (like transactions) are taken. What are your opinions about that? Which arguments can you add for any side?

  • Width of li with two floats different in IE, correct in FF

    I've worked out most of the kinks with my "lava-lamp" effect that I'm trying to create. Basically I want two curly braces (both are images) to wrap a list-item, then follow over to the next list-item. I always build in FF, then make exceptions for IE. I can't figure out what exception I need to make! I'm using an absolutely positioned li that contains two div's. The first div is floated left, the second is floated right. The width of the li is set to the width of the li it supposed to be wrapping. Thus creating the effect of the braces on the left and right sides of the text. It works beautifully in Firefox, but IE has two issues: The bottoms of the images are cut off. Sometimes they reappear when the animation ends, sometimes they don't. I assume this has to do with height, but no matter what I set the height to, it fails! The width is completely wrong. Here's a live example of it: http://jsbin.com/odome/2 The left position in IE is always 5-7px more than in FF, but that's a small difference. I'm more concerned with the width and the bottoms of the images being trimmed. Thanks, as always, for the help!
