• How to make Amazon EC2 not cause SSL invalid error in browser

  I use SSL certificate for a web site I set up in Amazon EC2 Machine Instance. The SSL certificate is for one domain name, which is not public DNS for the Amazon Machine Instance. The browser always complains the mismatch in the domain name because it compares the domain name of the SSL certificate to the Amazon public DNS. How can I set up not to cause this problem? I tried both domain name forwarding and A Record setting. Maybe it's because I'm not so familiar with Amazon EC2 and I haven't configured domain name correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

• Should we migrate from svn to Team Foundation Server 2010?

  We are with 6 developer and currently use Visual Studio 2008 Professional with SVN and Visual SVN. As soon as vs2010 is released we will upgrade from vs2008 pro to vs2010 premium. However if Team Foundation Server has a proper source control included in vs2010 premium, then it does make sense to use it. We like SVN, but like tight integration of tools even better. On the internet information on SVN versus TFS 2010 seems to be scarce. Hence my question here. EDIT: This video looks very compelling. Is this marketing talk or real? Thank you all for your replies! I absolutely appreciate this. A little more background info. This is our current stack; vs2008 pro, Visual SVN, SVN, Jetbrain Teamcity. My main problem is that we use a lot of tools from different vendors which more or less integrate. Sometime more, mostly less. At least it takes a lot of time to set it up correctly. We currently do not use branches, but we want to. Therefore we have to set up SVN from scratch (we looked into it carefully). So let me rephrase my question: Should we set up SVN or start using TFS?

• php require class call from inside method

  from my understanding, require pastes code into the calling php file. what if you were requiring from inside a method...it would paste the entire code/class inside the method, blocking the next statement in the method. eg. function test() { require 'pathtosomeclasscode'; somestatement; // any code after the require is blocked. } how do i get around this, to be able to require code where-ever, without it being pasted in that exact spot?   I'm missing the boat on something here, kids. This keeps rearing its head and I don't know what's going on with it, so I hope my homeys here can help. When working in Silverlight, when I create bindings in my c# code, they never hold up when the application is running. The declarative bindings from my xaml seem ok, but I'm doing something wrong when I create my bindings in C#. I'm hoping that there is something blindingly obvious I'm missing. • Hibernate mapping to object that already exists

  I have two classes, ServiceType and ServiceRequest. Every ServiceRequest must specify what kind of ServiceType it is. All ServiceType's are predefined in the database, and ServiceRequest is created at runtime by the client. If this is the case, how do I make it so that Hibernate points to the exists ServiceType instead of trying to insert it again?

  I'm still trying to get a handle on Cocoa (both in Obj-C and MacRuby), and I'd really appreciate seeing how to download a file with ASIHTTPRequest (or without it) and MacRuby. • Merging and splitting overlapping rectangles to produce non-overlapping ones

  I am looking for an algorithm as follows: Given a set of possibly overlapping rectangles (All of which are "not rotated", can be uniformly represented as (left,top,right,bottom) tuplets, etc...), it returns a minimal set of (non-rotated) non-overlapping rectangles, that occupy the same area. It seems simple enough at first glance, but prooves to be tricky (at least to be done efficiently). Are there some known methods for this/ideas/pointers? Methods for not necessarily minimal, but heuristicly small, sets, are interesting as well, so are methods that produce any valid output set at all.

  I currently have a form like this: <% form_for @stem, :html => {:multipart => true} do |f| %> <%= f.file_field :sound %> <% end %> This outputs (essentially): <form method="post" id="new_stem" class="new_stem" action="/stems"> <input type="file" size="30" name="stem[sound]" id="stem_sound"> </form> However I'm planning to use jQuery's ajaxForm plugin here and would like the new stem to be returned in JSON format. I know if the form's action was "/stems.json" this would work, but is there a parameter I can put into the form_for call to ask it to return JSON? I tried doing <% form_for @stem, :html => {:multipart => true, :action => '/stems.json'} do |f| %> but this didn't appear to work.

• "Back" command for org-mode

  When I type C-c C-v to see the list of TODOs, or C-/ m to see headlines with a certain tag, org-mode shows me a sparse tree with the results. How do I then go back to seeing the tree the way it was before I issued this command? Note that I haven't changed the file in any way, so this isn't your normal "undo", it's about going back to how org-mode was displaying the tree before.

  Hi all, I have seen links that open modal windows AND have a nice animation effect that create the illusion that the window grows out of the link clicked. On closing the window a similar animation shows that the window shrinks and disappears in the link which originally opened it. I remember I saw it on some jquery page but don't remember where and don't know what this effect is called. Have you seen this? Examples?

  Hi I am reading the tutorials on w3cschools ( http://www.w3schools.com/schema/schema_complex.asp ) but they don't seem to mention how you could add restrictions on complex types. Like for instance I have this schema. <xs:element name="employee"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="firstname" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="lastname" type="xs:string"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> now I want to make sure the firstname is no more then 10 characters long. How do I do this? I tried to put in the simple type for the firstname but it says I can't do that since I am using a complex type. So how do I put restrictions like that on the file so the people who I give the schema to don't try to make the firstname 100 characters.

  I am trying to build Linux From Scratch, and now I am at chapter 5.4, which tells me how to build Binutils. • Not initilizaing ints in C++

  If I have a block of code in a for loop that looks like total1+= i*i;, I get a weird, long value in total1 even if i increments from 1 to 10. However, this only happens if I don't do int total1=0;. This makes me wonder, what happens if I don't do that and why do I get a number in the 2 billions instead? (Though it's not the max value in an int either).

• Getting exc_bad_access error only when mallocguard is enabled

  I have an app for iPhone in development which works properly when the Malloc guard is not enabled.   HI, I am using LDAP which is installed in a solaris machine. To check the version of LDAP i go to /ldap and check the version installed as if it is version 5 then there is a directory of the name v5.0 and so on. After getting into the directory i check the directory structure. Can anybody tell me is there any shortest way or one liner to check the version of ldap installed in my machine. Thanks in advance.

• Fix Video timelines

  So, I have been going through and riping all of my DVD's and it seems that the way to get the highest quality out of these is to have DVD Shrink de-encrypt, rip, and decompress, the DVD's. After that I usually end up with a high quality (high size) set of .vob files in a classic DVD structure. Then I use a python script that I wrote to automate the process of finding the title sequence and then combining all of the title sequences' .vob files together into one file(similar to the "copy /b" command in windows), and then changing the extension to .mpg (a more widely supported format then .vob). This allows me to get a high quality rip in about 40 min. The problem comes in playing the files. I need all of the ripped dvd's to play on my media computer using windows media center but windows media center (and vlc for that matter) all think that the video files are anywhere from 5 min. to 0 min. which is not a problem (the video will still play all the way through) but if you want to pause it, when it is unpaused the video will start all the way over (Also fast forward and rewind don't work). I suspect that it is something wrong with the way the timeline is encoded in the video file, various forums on the internet recommended using virtualdub to fix the errors. But when I try to open the file virtual dub says that the file is not in mpeg-1 encoding and may be in mpeg-2. Is there any way to fix this? PS: I am aware that there was a similar question but it hasn't had any activity for 2 months and is dealing more with wmv files.
