  • Is it a header file or library? in a makefile

    I already know the differences between a header file and a library. However, when I'm writing my makefile, I have some difficulties on deciding if I should put something as a dependency of the file or just at the linking rule. For example: I have 2 simple files: main.c: #include <stdio.h> main(){ printf("this is the sine or 90"); sinus(90); } and func.c: #include <math.h> sinus(int num){ return sin(num); } and my makefile is: main: main.o func.o gcc main.o func.o -lm -o main func.o: func.c main.o: main.c Well, my question is why this makefile works and this one doesn't: main: main.o func.o gcc main.o func.o -lm -o main func.o: func.c math.h main.o: main.c

  • How can I mark a file as descended from 2 other files in Mercurial?

    I had 2 Python similar scripts, that I've since merged into one (and now takes some parameters to differ the behaviour appropriately). Both of the previous files are in the tip of my Mercurial repository. How can I indicate that the new file, is a combination of the 2 older files that I intend to remove? Also note, that 1 file has been chosen in favor of the other, and some code moved across, so if it's not possible to create a version controlled file with a new name, then assimilating one file's history into the other will suffice.

  • Boolean comparison of array of strings in Ruby

    I've got an array in Ruby that essentially represents a square boolean matrix. Dots represent zeroes, while any other character represents ones. Example: irb(main):044:0> g => [".b", "m."] # This grid has two '1' values and two '0' values. I'd like to perform a specified logical operation (say, OR) on this array with another similar array to get a third result. For example, if h is ["q.", "r."], then something akin to g.perform_or(h) should yield a new array ["qb", "r."]. (The choice of r to represent the result of 'm' || 'r' is arbitrary and not relevant; any other non-'.' character can be there.) How might I do this? Edit: I made an error in my example. Apologies!

  • Http 400 'Bad Request' and win32status 1450 when larger messages are sended to a WCF service

    Hi all, we sometimes receive Http 400 bad request resultcodes when posting a large file (10mb) to a WCF service hosted in IIS 6. We can reproduce this using SOAP UI and it seems that it is unpredictable when this happens. In our WCF log the call is not received, so we believe that the request does not reach the ASP.NET nor WCF runtime. This happens on multiple websites on the same machine each having their own application pool. All IIS settings are default, only in ASP.NET and WCF we allow bigger readerQuota's etc.... The win32status that is logged in the IIS log is 1450 which we think means "error no system resources". So now the question: a) how can we solve this b) (when a is not applicable :) ) which performance counters or logs are usefull to learn more about this problem? greetings, Tim

  • Can't find instructions how to use Windows 7 drivers on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Windows 7 x64 comes with all sorts of signed drivers so there's high probability that all drivers for your machine will be installed during system setup. On the other hand Windows Server 2008 R2 doesn't. Event though it's practically the same OS when it comes to drivers. I know there's a very good reason for this difference. It's a server product, not a desktop one. But the thing is that many power users and developers use server OS on their workstations which are usually desktop machines (a bit more powerful though) and would benefit from the whole driver spectrum that Windows 7 offers... Question I know I've been reading on the internet about some trick where you first install Windows 7, than do something to get either all Windows 7 drivers or just those installed, and then install Windows Server 2008 R2 and use those drivers of Windows 7. The thing is I can't find these instructions on the internet any more. If anybody knows where they are please provide the link for the rest of us.

  • Exchange backup verification shows no files

    [SBS2003SP2] If i read the exhange log it shows the backup contains no files just folders and the total size seems to be Ok. I i try to restore the folders are empty... But the 14 files that where backupped dissapeared in the verification log?! Other backups on the same medium turned out to be fine. Any idea what's wrong here?   • Is it possible to *optionally* override a theme in Drupal 6?

    I want to override the theming of only one (custom) menu. I can do this with phptemplate_menu_tree() but - of course - it overrides the rendering of all menus. I've tried returning FALSE (an obvious technique IMO) if the menu is not the specific one I want to override - but this doesn't cause the overridden theme function to be called. My only alternative (when the menu is anything other than the specific one) is to call the overridden function from within phptemplate_menu_tree() - but this seems to defeat the whole point of the override system, since the default rendering function will be hard-coded therein. I hope the explanation is clear, and any help is greatly appreciated - tks.

  • how can an application use port 80/HTTP without conflicting with browsers?

    If I understand right, applications sometimes use HTTP to send messages, since using other ports is liable to cause firewall problems. But how does that work without conflicting with other applications such as web-browsers? In fact how do multiple browsers running at once not conflict? Do they all monitor the port and get notified... can you share a port in this way? I have a feeling this is a dumb question, but not something I ever thought of before, and in other cases I've seen problems when 2 apps are configured to use the same port.

In my code, I normally have to do a search on the function name to see what functions calls it.   • LinkButtons Created Dynamically in a Repeater Don't Fire ItemCommand Event

    Hi. I've got a repeater that's used to display the output of a dynamic report that takes criteria from webcontrols on the page. Within the repeater's ItemDataBound method I'm adding controls (Linkbuttons for sorting by column values) dynamically to the header of the repeater based on values selected in a checkbox list and at this point setting the CommandArgument and CommandName properties of the linkbuttons. The issue is that when the linkbuttons are clicked they don't fire the ItemCommand event although they are clearly being correctly created and added to the header (there is some additional code to set the cssClass, text etc. and this works as expected.) The first column header in the repeater is set in the markup and the itemcommand event fires correctly on this one only. When the other column headers are clicked the repeater rebinds as programmed, but the columns are not dynamically re-generated.     Hi everybody, I'm planning to implement an Android application that requires a login screen. If the user opens the activity something like this should happen: If user is logged in, goto 3 If user is not logged in open the login screen and perfom login Show my application content So, what's the "correct" way of implementing a login? Implement a StartActivity that perfoms the check if the user is logged in, implement a LoginActivity that implements the logging and an ApplicationActivity that actually implements the application logics? Implement just one Activity and handle the login by using multiple views which I show according to the application state? Are there any examples or tutorials for this scenario?

  • Custom UIToolBar from Images

    I need to create a UIToolbar object that uses an image for the background. Most of the buttons are images as well, and rectangular. One button, however, is round and overlaps the toolbar like the Start button on the Windows task bar. See below. I know that I will need to subclass the UIToolbar to paint the image for the toolbar -- I think. If so, does anyone have example code showing how to do this? Furthermore, does anyone have any ideas on how to implement the larger round button? I'm thinking of another custom subclass for this, but not sure if there might be an easier way. I can have the art guys chop the image anyway needed, which I'm sure the round button will need to be chopped some how. Any ideas or sample code?
