• Deep Copy using Reflection in an Extension Method for Silverlight?

  So I'm trying to find a generic extension method that creates a deep copy of an object using reflection, that would work in Silverlight. Deep copy using serialization is not so great in Silverlight, since it runs in partial trust and the BinaryFormatter does not exist. I also know that reflection would be faster then serialization for cloning. It would be nice to have a method that works to copy public, private and protected fields, and is recursive so that it can copy objects in objects, and that would also be able to handle collections, arrays, etc. I have searched online, and can only find shallow copy implementations using reflection. I don't understand why, since you can just use MemberwiseClone, so to me, those implementations are useless. Thank You.

• Thin permissions in etc folder (Ubuntu)

  I am working on a RoR server setup that uses Thin and Nginx. I run everything from an admin user account, not root. RVM runs from my admin user and gem only works in my admin as well. If I sudo that action, nothing happens because my root doesn't "know" thin. • How to catch this low level MySQL (?) error in PHP/Magento

  When I'm executing the following statement in Magento with a really large $sku, the execution terminates without any errors thrown what so ever. There are no errors in either Magento's, Apache's or PHP's error logs. Mage::getModel('catalog/product')-loadByAttribute('sku', $sku); Question: How do I catch the error? I've tried to set custom error handlers, and for testing purposes I've also managed to trigger error situations where each of the error handler functions are invoked. But when running the previously mentioned Magento code with a large $sku, none of the error handling functions are executed. error_reporting( -1 ); set_error_handler( array( 'Error', 'captureNormal' ) ); set_exception_handler( array( 'Error', 'captureException' ) ); register_shutdown_function( array( 'Error', 'captureShutdown' ) ); For completeness, this is the $sku I'm passing to loadByAttribute(). • Django url rewrites and passing a parameter from Javascript

  As a bit of a followup question to my previous , I need to pass a parameter to a view. This parameter is not known until the JS executes. In my URLConf: url(r'^person/device/program/oneday/(?P<meter_id>\d+)/(?P<day_of_the_week>\w+)/$', therm_control.Get_One_Day_Of_Current_Thermostat_Schedule.as_view(), name="one-day-url"), I can pass it this URL and it works great! ( thanks to you guys). http://127.0.0.1:8000/personview/person/device/program/oneday/149778/Monday/ In My template I have this: var one_day_url = "{% url personview:one-day-url meter_id=meter_id day_of_the_week='Monday' %}"; In my javascript: $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: one_day_url , dataType: "json", timeout: 30000, beforeSend: beforeSendCallback, success: successCallback, error: errorCallback, complete: completeCallback }); When this triggers it works fine except I dont necessarily want Monday all the time. If I change the javascript to this: var one_day_url = "{% url personview:one-day-url meter_id=meter_id %}"; and then $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: one_day_url + '/Monday/', dataType: "json", timeout: 30000, beforeSend: beforeSendCallback, success: successCallback, error: errorCallback, complete: completeCallback }); I get the Caught NoReverseMatch while rendering error. I assume because the URLconf still wants to rewrite to include the ?P\w+) . I seems like if I change the URL conf that breaks the abailty to find the view , and if I do what I do above it gives me the NoREverseMatch error. Any guidance would be appreciated.

• Change ip route metric

  I'm constantly switching between eth0 and wlan0 interface on my archlinux because I often change OpenWrt fw images on my second router (which isn't connected anywhere). So I have problem with my routes when I'm connected to my wlan and want to connect with Ethernet to my router. Both routers are on 192.168.1.1/24 and after connecting to my Ethernet profile eth0 route becomes default one (which is ok for the time), because of smaller metric I guess. So I'm interested, how can I change routes metric so my applications can be connected to the internet (through out wlan)? Maybe there is solution not to use Default Gateway on Ethernet profile, however I still want to know how to change metric. Or default route if there are more then one.

• Possible to detect hash with more than one key?

  I am collecting data in a hash of hashes which looks like $VAR1 = { '502' => { 'user2' => '0' }, '501' => { 'git' => '0', 'fffff' => '755' }, '19197' => { 'user4' => '755' } }; The problem is in 501. Two keys may not occur. Is it possible to detect this? Update Fixed typo in hash.

• Restrict Postfix only for allowed Mail-Adresses

  I want to restrict my postfix system. Exactly I will that my postfix allow to send mails only to allowed user, all other mails should be bounced. For example: This Mails should be send: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] All other Mails should not sended, for Exaple [email protected] [email protected] etc. I tried, the following settings, but it doesn´t work: smtpd_reject_unlisted_sender = yes smtpd_recipient_restrictions = check_recipient_access hash:/etc/postfix/valid_recipients reject_unlisted_sender reject_unknown_recipient_domain reject Have you any idea how to handle it? • rsync generates very much traffic

  I use rsync for backing up one of my servers with 4GB of files. When I now try to transfer these files the traffic for the files isn't the estimated 4GB. It is a lot higher. It's about 60GB. I also checked the traffic on my server, backup server and router and all three say that there was a traffic of 60GB. But at the end rsync says that it only has transfered 4GB. Another problem is that I can't debugg it because the problem occures randomly.

• Apache2 - Hosting two sites on the same domain with different ports

  I am hosting a staging site (test.mydomain.com) which currently work well on port 80 for two sites (test.mydomain.com and test.FRmydomain.com) I am working on a new backend and I would like to deploy a third site on this server for testing. My hope is that it will live at test.mydomain.com:4204. I've got some experience with apache and quickly added statements: Listen 4204 NameVirtualHost *:4204 and created a new config for my site. What I imagine are the relevant parts of my config: <VirtualHost *:4204 > ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName test.mydomain.com:4204 However, the site is not publicly available, by name or ip. If i curl localhost:4204 from the server, I get the expected page content At this point, I'm a bit of a loss on how to go forwards. It seems like my config is correct but not available to be served. Am I better off defining a proxy definition so that, for instance: test.mydomain.com/4204 proxies to my localhost server or is there a way to make the site available via the internet? EDIT: I have added an iptable rule after further Googling with the command: iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 4204 -j ACCEPT I can see apache listening on 4204 and the rule is definitely in place but cant reach the site

• Varnish cache and PHP session; setting header?

  Varnish by default would not cache page with cookies. I read on some posts that one workaround for PHP pages is to set header('Cache-Control: public, s-maxage=60'); in php pages. But would it makes Varnish cache the page with the session cookie? Session is started on that page, and although there is nothing personal on that page, I would still want the session to persist in case the user would do something private later. So is there a way to cache the page without the session cookie? And still be able to pass session between pages? I can imagine some sort of weird solution with hidden form, but I would prefer if it can be done with VCL configuration or header setting. Thanks a lot!

• my domain.com is pointing to two different IP addresses

  Initially my domain , mycompany.com points to this IP: - 123.456.789.101 (sample only) Then i got another VPS and then decided to move the mycompany.com into this new IP/Host: - 987-654-123.123 (sample only) I changed the necessary stuff like DNS, etc. from my domain management panel. But when i ping it : ping mycompany.com , sometimes it gives the first IP, sometimes the second one. Also when i visit the url from the browser, sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn't. How can i solve this? Please help. Thanks

• Apache forwarding without redirecting (application won't follow redirects)

  Recently we had to move /task to /public/task, and I'd like to configure Apache to redirect accordingly. However, using mod_rewrite, though it works in the browser, seems to break applications making api calls to the above location. What happens is the application returns a page with the message saying the page was moved, but the app doesn't follow the redirect. So, is there a way to simply forward any traffic to /task to /public/task without 'redirecting', i.e, returning a redirect status code? EDIT: Here's a little more information. I've found a simple test to clarify what I'm trying to fix. Here is the URL path that needs forwarding: https://mydomain.com/task Needs to go to: https://mydomain.com/public/task If I use curl against the original domain, it just returns a redirect page notice. If I add the -L flag, which tells curl to follow redirects, it then follows the redirect successfully. I assume something very similar is happening in the application (which I don't have access to) that makes calls to the /task URL path. Since I cannot modify the application to make it follow redirects properly, I'm looking for a solution I can implement in Apache.

• hp proliant dl360 disk diagnostic issue

  We recently got two used drives (15000) and installed on our HP proliant dl360 G5 server. Created RAID1 and used HP SmartStart CD to perform diagnostics. Interestingly, the Diagnostic tab immidiately fails on Logical drive testing saying the Disk1 should be replaced, while the Test tab successfully runs all the complete tests on both disks and does not find any issue. At the meantime, when booting to esxi 5, vSphere periodically shows the Disk1 as Unknown and Logical drive in recovery process. This happens every 5-10 minutes. Here is the log from HP SmartScan diagnostic: 1 - Device, Test: Logical Drive 1, Storage Controller in Slot 0 1 - Description: The controller has reported a critical error in the drive error log. 1 - Recommended Repair: This drive should be replaced. 1 - Failed Count: 44 1 - Error code: F157 There is also another error log record (see below): 2 - Device, Test: test_components/libstorage.so ID 2 - Description: An unexpected exception occurred while performing an operation. Exception message: CISS_StatusHandler::evaluate: commandStatus = 4 (INVALID); hexdump of CISS_ErrorInfo: 00000000: __ __ 04 __ 20 __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ .... ... ........ 00000010: __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ ........ ........ 00000020: __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ ........ ........ Device: Hard Drive 2, Storage Controller in Slot 0 Property name: Bad Target Count 2 - Recommended Repair: Reboot or restart Insight Diagnostics. Retry the test. If the problem persists, upgrade to the latest version of Insight Diagnostics. 2 - Failed Count: 48 2 - Error Code: F62 Note that rebooting didn't help and I was running the latest diagnostic software version. Anyone has a clue? Is this a real disk issue? BTW, the controller is Smart Array E200i Thanks in advance

• Calendar booking issue - Exchange 2003 and 2010

  In our organization we are running Exchange 2003 and 2010 simultaneously, with the hopes of migrating everyone to Exchange 2010 sometime within the next few months. Everyone is using Outlook 2010. Recently, we had an issue with transaction log storage on the Exchange 2003 server. This was resolved, but for some reason no meeting rooms on the Exchange 2003 server will automatically book meetings any longer. I have played around with this for a while, changing calendar permissions, turning resource scheduling off and back on, etc. No dice. My next step was to try migrating a resource to the Exchange 2010 server. After doing so, and setting it up as a Room, enabling Auto-Accept and removing the EnableDirectBooking registry entry on my PC, I can book a meeting with this room. If EnableDirectBooking is enabled, I get an error message stating: "Meeting Room" declined your meeting because it is recurring. You must book each meeting separately with this resource. This is despite the fact that the meeting I'm attempting to create has no recurrence. Now, I have also created a new test Room from scratch on the Exchange 2010 server, and I can book a meeting with this Room regardless of whether or not I have the EnableDirectBooking reg entry in place. All users here have this registry entry, and I'd rather not have to figure out how to push something out to remove it from every PC. Rather, I'd like to figure out what's different between the configurations of these two meeting rooms so that I could book a meeting room regardless of whether EnableDirectBooking is enabled or not. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks!

• bind: blackhole for invalid recursive queries?

  I have a name server that's publicly accessible since it is the authoritative name server for a couple of domains. Currently the server is flooded with faked type ANY requests for isc.org, ripe.net and similar (that's a known distributed DoS attack). The server runs BIND and has allow-recursion set to my LAN so that these requests are rejected. In such cases the server responds just with authority and additional sections referring the root servers. Can I configure BIND so that it completely ignores these requests, without sending a response at all?

• netsh doesn't provide commands

  According to Netsh Commands for Wired Local Area Network (LAN) in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, netsh should provide commands such as netsh add profile filename="profile.xml" interface="Local Area Connection" but that's an unknown command for my netsh. Even if I enter netsh show /? it shows me only two options: 'show alias' and 'show helper'. Maybe some library/modules or something is missing? I tested with admin permissions in PowerShell.

• get rid of warning when installing registry file

  I use windows vista but this question is for other windows versions as well. When I double click to install a reg file I get this warning: Adding information can unintentionally change or delete values and cause components to stop working correctly. If you do not trust the source of this information in myFile.reg, do not add it to the registry. Is there any way to get rid of it and from the approval message after?

• Post raid5 setup reboot shows single hard drive failure on ubuntu 12.10?

  I just set up raid 5 on linux using three HDDs as per a guide. It all went fine until when I rebooted I got the following text: http://i.stack.imgur.com/Zsfjk.jpg. Does this mean one of my HDDs has failed? How do I check if any of them are failing? I tried using smartctl and didn't see any issues. Or is it nothing to do with failure and something else altogether? I would like to get the raid 5 working again but I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm using ubuntu 12.10 and the three raid disks each have a gpt partition with a single full size partition of filesystem type ext4. Note I only got an error on reboot not while I was creating the raid array which went fine. Thanks.

• How to get Notepad++ to open files properly in Windows 8?

  For some reason in Windows 8 if I try to open a file in Notepad++ by either rightclick "Edit witrh Notepad++" or by rightclick open with Notepad++ it will only bring NPP to the foreground, but not open the file. The only way to open a file seems to be with the open/browse button in NPP. This is far less efficient, as I already found the file, and must then find it a second time through the file browser. This is obviously a bug in either NPP, Win 8, or my system. Is anyone else experiancing this? if so, is there a way to fix it?

• Is it possible to use a static IP assigned by my ISP for an offsite web server on a VPS (different ISP)?

  I have a web server on a Virtual Private Server with a hosting provider. Unfortunately, they are really stingy with IP addresses and I need to run several SSL certificates on my server, so I will need a few more than I have. I have a block of 5 static IP addresses on a business package through a different ISP and I am only using 1 of them for connectivity in the office. What I am wondering is if it is possible to use the 4 unused static IP addresses from this ISP on my VPS, which is hosted by another ISP? The VPS (web server) is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Edition. If this can be done, please let me know how to configure it.

• Dell Vostro 3500 battery life remaining missing from Windows 8?

  On Windows 7 a Vostro 3500 laptop shows the battery life remaining, while on Windows 8 this information appears to be missing. The percentage is still available, but the life remaining is missing. How is battery life remaining calculated and does this require some level of driver support? Is it a standardized interface? Does anybody know which driver is responsible for handling this feature? I want to force the old Windows 7 driver, but I don't know which driver does battery remaining.

• Windows 8 Native App in Asp.net MVC?

  I was not sure if this should be here or stackoverflow. I am looking at developing some windows 8 apps. I come from a web background and was really intrigued that you make them with html and javascript. I started to think though why can't you use asp.net mvc to build a windows 8 application. My question is can you somehow use asp.net mvc to build a native windows 8 application or are you suck with javascript and html?
