  • Graph databases and Php

    I want to use a graph database using php. Can you point out some resources on where to get started? Is there any example code / tutorial out there? Or are there any other methods of storing data that relate to each other in totally random/abstract situations? Very abstract example of the relations needed: John relates to Mary, both relate to School, John is Tall, Mary is Short, John has Blue Eyes, Mary has Green Eyes, query I want is which people are related to 'Short people that have Green Eyes and go to School' - answer John It is possible in MySQL but it would require a fixed set of attributes/columns for each item and a complex non-flexible query, instead I need every attribute to be an item by itself and instead of 'belonging' to something, to be 'related' to something.

    I need to make a linked list with classes. Each list will store two values: a URI and IP. After doing all the adding, I need to be able count the total number of items in the linked list.   • VS2010 error: Cannot find custom tool 'GlobalResourceProxyGenerator' on this system.

    Good day! My strongly typed resource classes acessible via Resources.<Name of resx file> in ASP.NET MVC2 project from /App_GlobalResources are not updated anymore. I've tried to right click on them and choose "Run custom tool" and got error: Cannot find custom tool 'GlobalResourceProxyGenerator' on this system. I use VS2010 Express, project is ASP.NET MVC2 (and uses T4MVC). Thanks in advance!

  • setting apache to read from my user's directory.

    Hello, I have Centos 5 running Apache/2.2.3. Now the default folder is /var/www/html and whatever I put in it shows when I browse it from the web. Now I would like to to create a folder www under my user bob and have all files loaded from that folder; /home/bob/www When I change the document root folder in my httpd.config I get an 403 error, I have even tried with virtualhosts but the same error shows. Any ideas on what to do next?

  • What's the difference between logging and printing to the console

    This is kind of a philosophical question. Basically people often ask if I am logging - and since I am not a full time programmer, but someone who programs often but is actually more of a requirements analyst, I don't know all the best practices. I use Java a lot so I often do things like System.out.println() What's the difference in theory between the two? Ultimately aren't I also logging? Esp, if I prefix my comments with something like "ERROR:" or "WARN:" ?

One feature that struck me as interesting is zeroconf: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/companions/zeroconf/apidocs/org/apache/log4j/net/ZeroConfSocketHubAppender.html Does log4net support zeroconf for Apache Chainsaw to consume? Is there a log4net zeroconf appender like the Java ZeroConfSocketHubAppender?

  • Better data-structure design

    Currently in my application I have a single table that is giving me a bit of trouble. The issue at hand is I have a value object that is mapped to this table. When the data is returned to me as an array of value objects, I have to then loop through this array and begin my recursion by matching the ParentID to parent ObjectID's. The column ParentID is either null (acts a parent) or it holds the value of an ObjectID. I know there has to be a better way to create this data structure so that I do not have to do recursive loops to match ParentID's with their ObjectID's. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.   • Where can I find documentation for Scala's delayed function calls?

  • What has bigger priority: opacity or z-index in browsers?

    Hi, I'm coding a "popup window" in javascript and I've come across an interesting thing: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/4761/error01cropped.png - the navy square under the popup window is visible even though I would expect it to be hidden. The popup was added after the square so it should be on the top. CSS opacity property of the navy square is 0.3 (from what I've tried it seems that every number from the interval (0,1) would yield the same result) if I change it to 1 then it behaves as expected (i.e. the part of the square under the popup is hidden). I've tried to use z-index property and set 10 for square and 100 for the popup but it doesn't change anything. What am I missing? Why is the part of square displayed? Thanks for help!

    Hi, I'm working with App Engine(Java/JDO) and are trying to do some querying with lists. So I have the following class: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") public class MyEntity { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key key; @Persistent List<String> tags = new ArrayList<String>(); @Persistent String otherVar; } The following JDO-QL works for me: ( tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('c') || tags.contains('d') ) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' This seem to return all results where tags has one or more strings with one or more of the given values and together with the inequality search on otherVar But the following do not work: (tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('_a')) && (tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('_b')) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' In this case I want all hits where there is at least one a (either a or _a) and one b (either b or _b) together with the inequality search as before. But the problem is that I also get back the results where there is a but no b, which is not what I want. Maybe I have missed something obvious, or done a coding error, or possibly there is a restriction on how you can write these queries in appengine, so any tips or help would be very welcome. In my struggling, I already managed to avoid the javax.naming.NameNotFoundException by: 1. using in java new InitialContext().lookup(connection); instead of new JndiObjectFactoryBean().setJndiName(connection); 2. changing the connection name from: 'jndi-name' to 'java:jndi-name' Now the problem is that the datasouce that I get from the lookup is null. I created the datsource file: <datasources> <local-tx-datasource> <jndi-name>bilby</jndi-name> <connection-url>jdbc:oracle:myURL</connection-url> <driver-class>oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver </driver-class> <user-name>myUsername</user-name> <password>myPassword</password> <exception-sorter-class- name>org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.OracleExceptionSorter</exception-sorter-class-name> <metadata> <type-mapping>Oracle9i</type-mapping> </metadata> </local-tx-datasource> </datasources> and put it under \server\default\deploy\oracle-ds.xml I get during runtime the line: 18:37:56,560 INFO [ConnectionFactoryBindingService] Bound ConnectionManager 'jb oss.jca:service=DataSourceBinding,name=bilby' to JNDI name 'java:bilby' So my question is - why do I get null as my datasource???

I have Internal Server Error 500 and no info in log and when I try to open not -existing file also - no info in error log. How to enable it properly?   • Why can't I open file with doubleklick after I moved the application that opens it on windows?

    I am on windows server 2003, but I guess it is the same on windows xp. I moved some movable applications (usually people create them for usb sticks) to locations like c:\bin\app1\app1.exe. The old location was c:\programs\app1\app1.exe app1.exe can open files of type *.ap1 When I rightclick file.ap1 and choose open with ... the Open with dialog appears. But it is not working how I expect in this situation. I can choose c:\bin\app1\app1.exe with the "Browse" button, but: app1.exe will not appear in the dialog where I just choosed it in the programs list, like I am used to it after clicking OK on it in the browse dialog. app1.exe will not open it when I click ok in the "Open with" dialog, the application that was assigned until then will still open it What could be the reason? my account is member of the administrators group I just changed the permissions of the folder c:\bin\app1\ and made sure that the group "Administrators" has all rights. I also inherited this manually to all subfodlers and subfiles. I also tried to move the application (with the whole folder) to "c:\program files\app1\app1.exe
