  • Why should I be using testing frameworks in PHP?

    Hi everyone, I have recently heard a lot of people argue about using PHP testing features like PHPunit and SimpleTest together with their IDE of choice (Eclipse for me). After googling the subject, I have still a hard time understanding the pros and cons of using these testing frameworks to speed up development. If anyone could explain this for me in a more basic level, I would really appreciate it. I am using PHP5 for the notice. Thanks a lot!

  • What is the business case for a dependency injection (DI) framework?

    At my company we want to start using a dependency injection (DI) framework for managing our dependencies. I have some difficulty with explaining the business value of such a framework. Currently I have come up with these reasons. Less source code, delete all the builder patterns in the code. Increase in flexibility. Easier to switch dependencies. Better separation of concern. The framework is responsible for creating instances instead of our code. Has anybody else had to persuade management? How did you do that? What reasons did you use?

  • JQuery selector in variable

    I wanted to ask about using selector from a variable first I have: function check() { $('.info input, .info select').each(function(n, element){ if ($(element).val()=='') alert('empty'); }); } and called it in $('input')change(check); and they worked fine. But now I want to pass some value to the function to make it dynamic, like $('input')change(check('.info')); and changed the function to function check(sel) { $(sel +' input, '+ sel + ' select').each(function(n, element){ if ($(element).val()=='') alert('empty'); }); } but it doesn't work.     Hi, how do i prevent schemagen from adding the super-class to the schema? I have tried using XMLTransient on the super-class, and on its fields but they still show up in the schema . for example : @XmlTransient public class Asset { @XmlTransient public Long ID; } public class Movie extends Asset { } creates this schema : <xs:complexType name="asset"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="ID" type="xs:long" minOccurs="0"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="movie"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="asset"> <xs:sequence/> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> the schema that i would like to see is : <xs:complexType name="movie"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:sequence/> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType>

  • Custom string class (C++)

    Hey guys. I'm trying to write my own C++ String class for educational and need purposes. The first thing is that I don't know that much about operators and that's why I want to learn them. I started writing my class but when I run it it blocks the program but does not do any crash. Take a look at the following code please before reading further: class CString { private: char* cstr; public: CString(); CString(char* str); CString(CString& str); ~CString(); operator char*(); operator const char*(); CString operator+(const CString& q)const; CString operator=(const CString& q); }; First of all I'm not so sure I declared everything right. I tried googleing about it but all the tutorials about overloading explain the basic ideea which is very simple but lack to explain how and when each thing is called. For instance in my = operator the program calls CString(CString& str); but I have no ideea why. I have also attached the cpp file below: CString::CString() { cstr=0; } CString::CString(char *str) { cstr=new char[strlen(str)]; strcpy(cstr,str); } CString::CString(CString& q) { if(this==&q) return; cstr = new char[strlen(q.cstr)+1]; strcpy(cstr,q.cstr); } CString::~CString() { if(cstr) delete[] cstr; } CString::operator char*() { return cstr; } CString::operator const char* () { return cstr; } CString CString::operator +(const CString &q) const { CString s; s.cstr = new char[strlen(cstr)+strlen(q.cstr)+1]; strcpy(s.cstr,cstr); strcat(s.cstr,q.cstr); return s; } CString CString::operator =(const CString &q) { if(this!=&q) { if(cstr) delete[] cstr; cstr = new char[strlen(q.cstr)+1]; strcpy(cstr,q.cstr); } return *this; } For testing I used a code just as simple as this CString a = CString("Hello") + CString(" World"); printf(a); I tried debugging it but at a point I get lost. First it calls the constructor 2 times for "hello" and for " world". Then it get's in the + operator which is fine. Then it calls the constructor for the empty string. After that it get's into "CString(CString& str)" and now I'm lost. Why is this happening? After this I noticed my string containing "Hello World" is in the destructor (a few times in a row). Again I'm very puzzeled. After converting again from char* to Cstring and back and forth it stops. It never get's into the = operator but neither does it go further. printf(a) is never reached. I use VisualStudio 2010 for this but it's basically just standard c++ code and thus I don't think it should make that much of a difference

  • C#: Using one Data Table in order to fill 2 different comboboxes?

    Hi all. I have 2 comboboxes on a form (form1) called combobox1 and combobox2. Each comboboxes should be filled with data stored in 2 different tables in Sql server 2005: table1 and table2 I mean: combobox1 -- table1 combobox2 -- table2 I fill data table with proper data and then bind the comboboxes to it separately. My problem is: after filling 2 combos, both of them have equal data got from table2. This is my code: DataTable tb1 = new DataTable(); //Filling tb1 with data got from table1 combobox1.Items.Clear(); combobox1.DataSource = tb1; combobox1.DisplayMember = "Name"; combobox1.ValueMember = "ID"; combobox1.SelectedIndex = -1; //filling tb1 with data got from table2 combobox2.Items.Clear(); combobox2.DataSource = tb1; combobox2.DisplayMember = "Name"; combobox2.ValueMember = "ID"; combobox2.SelectedIndex = -1; What's wrong? It seems that if I get 2 different data tables (tb1 and tb2) , every thing will be all right. Any suggestions please. Thank you

  • code folding in Visual Studio for F#

    I find that I tend to write long source files in F#. Some open source projects in F# also have long source files, e.g. FPersec and F# for excel. So it would be very helpful if code folding (even very limited support) is available in VS for F#. E.g. in a module, we can fold out functions that are stable, only leave functions that are subject to change unfold. Is this feature easy to be supported, e.g. by a third party vendor?

  • Java: Check if file is already open

    I need to write a custom batch File renamer. I've got the bulk of it done except I can't figure out how to check if a file is already open. I'm just using the java.io.File package and there is a canWrite() method but that doesn't seem to test if the file is in use by another program. Any ideas on how I can make this work?

  • can't save form content to database, help plsss!!

  • Toshiba laptop only shows black screen with mouse pointer after starting up

    I only see black screen after the startup. It just shows the logo and the status bar upon start, then it goes black screen with moveable cursor. I tried alt+ctrl+del, but it doesn't work. I pressed shift 5 times and it makes a sound. I already removed battery and restarted it, but still the same. I can go to safe mode and scanned thru there. Still, desktop won't show up. Don't know what else to check?

  • Why do I have only incoming traffic when copying from network source to network destination?

    I have a VirtualBox VM that is located on a network share of my NAS. When I copy something from the VM's disk onto another of the NAS' network shares (so the data is visible outside the VM), the Windows 7 Task Manager shows only incoming network traffic (yellow graph). It's as if the data was only received but never sent over the network. I verified that the data arrives on the other network share. As I understand it, the data flow looks like this: +-NAS--------+ +-Win7 PC (VM Host)-+ | Share1(VM)-|>---->|-+ | | | | | | | Share2 <---|<----<|-+ | +------------+ +-------------------+ If it was like this, I would see incoming and outgoing traffic, right? What am I not getting here?
