• MonoTouch- 'curated' bindings?

  I'm just converting a video player sample to MT and came to this part: self.view.layer.sublayerTransform = CATransform3DMakePerspective(1000); In Monotouch, I've started with: this.View.Layer.SublayerTransform(CATransform3D.... But no perspective option is available. There is a 'scale' and 'rotate' one - does this mean this functionality is unavailable in MT? Or that I need to start creating my own bindings even though this one has been processed by the binding creation tool Xamarin uses? If anyone could advise how I would apply that transform I'd appreciate it. Cheers

• Change jQuery slider option dynamically based on window width

  I would like to change a jQuery option based on window width (on load as well as on resize). I've found solutions close to what I need, but I don't understand jQuery or javascript enough to customize them for my needs. • Selecting an option with javascript

  I have a drop down menu that I want to have selected on page load. This is what I'm using at the moment: var selector = document.getElementById("action_person").firstChild; var n = 0; while(selector.options[n] != null) { if(selector.options[n].value == "person") { selector.options.selectedIndex = n; } n++; } I've also tried replacing selector.options.selectedIndex = n with selector.options[n].selected = true. However, it never selects for me. It always shows the item at the top of the drop down. I've verified that the value "person" does exist in the drop down, and that the variable "selector" does point to a valid drop down. What am I doing wrong here?

  I'm adding some new bits to one of the lines in a text file and then writing it along with the rest of the lines in the file to a new file. Also remember, blah blah three.<tmp>[[url=d, link=e]]</tmp> So I want to get b and d (the url attribute of tmp), and change the String so that it looks like this (the ex() function returns a String): Blah blah one.<tmp>[[url=b, link=c, add=ex(b)]]</tmp> Blah blah two. Also remember, blah blah three.<tmp>[[url=d, link=e, add=ex(d)]]</tmp> I need to use regex because no existing library parses this type of markup. I hope my explanation is clear. Thanks in advance!

• Build Google App Engine Java source from Eclipse

  I would like to try to build Google App Engine for Java from source. I have tried this: I don't know how to solve the javac Ant task. I am on Mac OS X 10.6.8. The reason why I am trying to to create a Java Project from the source is that when I try to debug/step-into the sources downloaded from SVN, something is wrong in Eclipse and it does not track execution at the right code line. It seems to be executing "comment lines"? So I don't get an accurate tracking of the code path. I think what I would ideally need is: 1) svn checkout command with matching REV number of latest SDK 2) wget command downloading matching jar

• C# recursive programming with lists

  I am working on a program where each item can hold an array of items (i'm making a menu, which has a tree-like structure) currently i have the items as a list, instead of an array, but I don't feel like I'm using it to its full potential to simplify code. I chose a list over a standard array because the interface (.add, .remove, etc...) makes a lot of sense. I have code to search through the structure and return the path of the name (i.e. Item.subitem.subsubitem.subsubsubitem). • SOLVED mwfeedparser integrating in my app gives EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0xa0040008)

  SOLVED- Got it! The problem was that since I am creating the DoParsingStuff *parseThisUrl object in the viewDidLoad method, it's scope was only within that method. So after the method finished, the object got deallocated. I changed it to an instance variable instead and now it works. It gives a different error but that it an entirely different issue. Issue was: I have been struggling with trying to integrate the mwfeedparser library in my app for parsing RSS and ATOM feeds. I'm super new at VBA, and would like to know how to do this. Also, if anyone knows how to automatically execute codes when starting the PowerPoint, that would be fantastic.

How can I make the wx.ProgressDialog run while imgSearch is still running and display how long the imgSearch is taking? • Create multiple columns on one sheet from 1 column on another with logic

  I am new to VBA and I am struggling trying to make this work. I am in need of a macro that will process each cell\column on Sheet1 and put the results on Sheet2. I'm sure this is pretty easy for those who are more advanced with VB code. It contains many columns.. Anytime we encounter a — or an empty cell, we populate the cell with -999 (see the example on Sheet2) on the first column, which contains "0-2". Then we create 2 new columns and populate them with 0 on the first column and 2 on second column (see example on Sheet2). If a value is found on only one side, we then populate both sides with the same number. • Centos OS resource footprint vs Ubuntu package refresh

  I am trying to determine which distro to sink my teeth into. I am new to the Linux world and would like to choose a distro to focus on. I have read that CentOS uses less resources than Ubuntu, which is an issue for me since I am renting a VPS and resource cost is an issue. I have also read that Ubuntu has more up-to-date packages which is a concern for me as I want to use PHP and some packages that have a fair amount of dependencies. I am not using Linux as a desktop OS, rather just as a server for Apache, PHP, PERL, and Java development. What would be the best choice for a server OS? CentOS or Ubuntu? Are the resource requirements that different? Are the packages that different between the two? Thanks.

• csync2 ERROR: Connection to remote host failed

• lftp make-backup not functioning as expected

  With default settings, when 'putting' the file, it is clobbered without complaint or warning. When 'getting' lftp complains: get: super.sh: file already exists and xfer:clobber is unset I change my /etc/lftp.conf and append: set xfer:make-backup yes set xfer:clobber yes When putting and getting, the files get clobbered, however no backup is made. I've checked the settings with "set -a | grep clob" and "set -a | grep backup" and the values are correct.

• What happens if a server never receives the RST packet?

  Someone recently decided to show me a POC of a new Denial of Service method using SYN/TCP he's figured out. I thought it was complete nonsense, but after explaining to him about SYN-SYN/ACK-RST, he left me speechless. He told me "what if the server you're using to trick into sending the SYN/ACK packets can't receive the RST packet?" I have no idea. He claims that the server will continue trying to send SYN/ACK packets, and that the packetrate will continue to build up. Is there any truth to this? Can anyone elaborate? Apparently, the way it works is this: He spoofs the IP of the SYN packet to the target's IP. He then sends the SYN packet to a handful of random servers They all reply with their SYN/ACK packet to the target IP, of course The target responds with RST, as we know BUT somehow he keeps the target from sending the RST or keeps the random servers from processing it With this, apparently the servers will continue trying to send the SYN/ACK packets, thus producing a somewhat of a "snowball" effect.

I'm not sure whether to set it's IP address to 127.0.0.1 or one of the other IP addresses on the system. What am I missing from here?

  I made the new user using this command pure-pw useradd droa -u 52007 -g 52009 -d /home/droa/public_html But when i connect using ftp , it says that Login authentication failed. Which other setting i need to use. I also have cpanel where i sued to create accounts. Even i checked the /etc/pureftpd.passwd File as well , but it only had one user which i created. I don't know which ftp does cpanel uses. The documentation of pureftp says that i need to compile with (--with-everything) Is there any way to do that without re-compiling

• route lan traffic through wirless mifi

  I have a Windows 7 laptop accessing the internet through Verizon wireless MIFI configured as 192.168.1.1. It supports only 5 wireless connections, so I don't want to use up connections unnecessarily. That laptop has an ethernet nic which I have given a static IP of 192.168.0.5. Everything else on the 192.168.0.0 network acquires an address via DHCP from a DLink router whose address is 192.168.0.1. Also on that network are a printer, some network cameras, and a linux pc. The linux pc does not have a wireless card (and I don't want to buy one). The linux pc is located at 192.168.0.122. I can ping the linux pc from the windows pc. But I cannot access the internet from the linux pc. I can ping everything on the 192.168.0.0 network EXCEPT the ethernet card in the Windows PC. It seems as though my DLink router will not route requests to the 192.168.0.5 nic on the windows pc. My windows pc has a default route pointing to the 192.168.1.0 network. It also has a route telling it to route all traffic destined for the 192.168.0.0 network through the 192.168.0.5 interface. I have tried adding a default route to the linux pc to "gateway" 192.168.0.5, but that does not work. I have also tried adding a default route to the linux pc to the gateway 192.168.0.1 (the DLink router) but that will not give me internet access either (over the 192.168.1.0 network). I tried these two different routes at different times - I did not set them both at the same time. I suppose this is a simple problem to solve, but I cannot seem to solve it. How can I give internet access over the 192.168.1.1 MIFI to my linux pc on 192.168.0.122? (The DLink permits both wired and wireless connections.) I don't want to use Windows internet connection sharing because I believe it will set up the ethernet nic as a gateway on 192.168.0.1 and a DHCP server. I already have the Dlink performing that role and I don't want to change that if I do not have to. (The Dlink permits me to make DHCP reservations and I really like that feature. I don't want to lose it.)

• Can no longer deploy to Amazon AWS using VS 2010

  Did something change on Amazon recently? I'm trying to redeploy to my Amazon instance, and the "Publish to Amazon Cloudformation" plugin for VS 2010 no longer appears to update my instance. It tells me that upload is successful, but my instance does not appear to be updating on Amazon I've tried disabling all my instances and using the tool to create a new instance , but no luck. I do see that the URL of the deployed application (which looks like this: http://c2-107-20-11-27.compute-1.amazonaws.com) does not appear to match up with the public IP of my instance on Amazon. (even when it creates a new one) This seems to indicate that something might be broken. any clues? (btw, whenever the Amazon VS2010 Plugin creates a new instance, I am sure to reconnect my elastic IP with the new instance)

• Must partprobe before using drive?

  This is a followup question to Cannot mount /dev/sdc1 on Debian 5.0, special device /dev/sdc1 doesn't exist Basically, I have 6 SATA hard drives in a machine and I'm trying to create a RAID6 array with them. When I try to run the mdadm command to create (with the verbose option) a raid array, I see messages like "mdadm: super1.x cannot open /dev/sdf1: No such device or address" which are resolved by doing partprobe /dev/sdf and then re-running the mdadm command. The problem is that I have to run partprobe after each reboot, and from experience I don't think this is normal behaviour -- on no other linux machine do I have to partprobe the device before I can use it. Something must be going wrong, but how do I troubleshoot this to find out what? Could this be caused by a hardware problem? Edit: Additional note - before I seemed to only have this problem with one drive, but now I'm having it with 3 drives.

• DNS server redirect users on first visit

  I am looking for a DNS level solution, that redirects a user to a specific IP on the first visit, than directs them to the correct IP on subsequent visits. So the idea is, for example, if a user visits "malicioussite.com", the first time they try to resolve that DNS name, it resolves to the IP of an internal web server, showing them a warning. On subsequent resolves, the users would get the actual IP, so they can visit the site. How can this be achieved? I am really flexible on what I can use, as long as its on the DNS level.
