  • How to make ip Address static (eth0)

    - by Jordan Angelucci
    I'm having a really hard time configuring ubuntu 13.04 to have a static ip address. I have tried multiple solutions but everytime I reboot (can't do the network reset command because ubuntu freezes) I end up with no connection. Here is what I get when i type ifconfig into the terminal: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 10:bf:48:bc:07:cb inet addr:192.168.0.8 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::12bf:48ff:febc:7cb/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1763067 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1024326 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:2284491220 (2.2 GB) TX bytes:136809317 (136.8 MB) lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:65536 Metric:1 RX packets:1840 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1840 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:185688 (185.6 KB) TX bytes:185688 (185.6 KB) I have also tried this: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.160 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns-nameservers 24.222.0.94 dns-nameservers 24.222.0.95 If anyone could help me it would be very much appreciated.

  • How do I read my PDFs and watch videos properly again?

    - by asp
Whenever I watch videos, either online of local via Totem and/or open PDF files using evince. The system gets really, really bogged down. All apps get really slow, menus take forever to display, switching windows gives me time to make a coffee, etc. I have a couple of bug reports open on this, but what do I need to do to really troubleshoot the issue? I've purged Adobe Flash from the system, but YouTube HTML5 videos still have the issue. A bunch of PDFs saved locally trigger the problem. And to (temporarily) remove the slowness, I need to shutdown the computer, breath for a few minutes, then restart. A simple reboot does not do the trick. How can I identify the cause? This only started on 13.04. I've had Ubuntu on this machine for a year without a problem until "upgrading" to 13.04. I am not a programmer, but I suspect an issue with the Intel video driver.

  • Is there a comprehensive list of mupdf keyboard shortcuts?

    - by Dune
I like mupdf's speed, but I am exasperated by the lack of documentation and its (unnecessarily) hyper-minimal interface with not a menu bar or context menu in sight. Does there exist a list of keyboard shortcuts for this application? The link to the manual on the official site is dead. I only know of the following shortcuts: fit to width: Shift + w fit to height: Shift + h Please respond with the shortcuts you know.

  • Linux does not connect to wireless network under Hyper-V with Windows 8

    - by Graznarak
I have a VM I am trying to run under Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro. I am using an Asus PDE-N15 adapter on the host machine. When I run Windows 8 in the VM it connects to the network and everything works. When I use Linux (Ubuntu 13.04 32-bit, Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit, Fedora, CentOS) it will not connect to the network. When I run ifconfig I see the adapter show up as eth0 with the correct HWaddr. I see that TX bytes 0, and RX bytes == 0. Could anyone help me figure out how to get this to work?

  • Should I make the Cells in a Tiledmap as null when my player hits it

    - by Vishal Kumar
I am making a Tile Based game using Libgdx. I took the idea from SuperKoalio platformer demo by Mario Zencher. When I wanted to implement Collectables in my game , I simply draw the coins using Tiled Map Editor. When my player hits that, I use to set that cell as null. Someday on this site suggested me not to do so... never use null. I agreed. What can be any other way. If I am using layer.setCell(x,y) to set the cell to any other cell... even if an transparent one .. my player seems to be stopped by an invisible object/hurdle. This is my code: for (Rectangle tile : tiles) { if (koalaRect.overlaps(tile)) { TiledMapTileLayer layer = (TiledMapTileLayer) map.getLayers().get(1); try{ type = layer.getCell((int) tile.x, (int) tile.y).getTile().getProperties().get("tileType").toString(); } catch(Exception e){ System.out.print("Exception in Tiles Property"+e); type="nonbreakable"; } //Let us destroy this cell if(("award".equals(type))){ layer.setCell((int) tile.x, (int) tile.y, null); listener.coin(); score+=100; test = ""+layer.getCell(0, 0).getTile().getProperties().get("tileType"); } //DOING THIS GIVES A BAD EFFECT if(("killer".equals(type))){ //player.health--; //layer.setCell((int) tile.x, (int) tile.y, layer.getCell(20,0)); } // we actually reset the player y-position here // so it is just below/above the tile we collided with // this removes bouncing :) if (player.velocity.y > 0) { player.position.y = (tile.y - Player.height); } Is this a right approach? OR I should create separate Sprite Class called Coin.

  • Allocating Entities within an Entity System

    - by miguel.martin
I'm quite unsure how I should allocate/resemble my entities within my entity system. I have various options, but most of them seem to have cons associated with them. In all cases entities are resembled by an ID (integer), and possibly has a wrapper class associated with it. This wrapper class has methods to add/remove components to/from the entity. Before I mention the options, here is the basic structure of my entity system: Entity An object that describes an object within the game Component Used to store data for the entity System Contains entities with specific components Used to update entities with specific components World Contains entities and systems for the entity system Can create/destroy entites and have systems added/removed from/to it Here are my options, that I have thought of: Option 1: Do not store the Entity wrapper classes, and just store the next ID/deleted IDs. In other words, entities will be returned by value, like so: Entity entity = world.createEntity(); This is much like entityx, except I see some flaws in this design. Cons There can be duplicate entity wrapper classes (as the copy-ctor has to be implemented, and systems need to contain entities) If an Entity is destroyed, the duplicate entity wrapper classes will not have an updated value Option 2: Store the entity wrapper classes within an object pool. i.e. Entities will be return by pointer/reference, like so: Entity& e = world.createEntity(); Cons If there is duplicate entities, then when an entity is destroyed, the same entity object may be re-used to allocate another entity. Option 3: Use raw IDs, and forget about the wrapper entity classes. The downfall to this, I think, is the syntax that will be required for it. I'm thinking about doing thisas it seems the most simple & easy to implement it. I'm quite unsure about it, because of the syntax. i.e. To add a component with this design, it would look like: Entity e = world.createEntity(); world.addComponent<Position>(e, 0, 3); As apposed to this: Entity e = world.createEntity(); e.addComponent<Position>(0, 3); Cons Syntax Duplicate IDs

  • Unity3D problem. Bullets fall down instead of flying like they should

It just falls down instead of flying forward. This is the flash version of the game: http://v1k.me/swf/ Can some one help me out? Should I upload the project? This is my "Shoot.js": public var bulletPrefab : Transform; public var bulletSpeed : float = 20; function Update() { if(Input.GetMouseButton(0)) { if(bulletPrefab || bulletSpeed) { var bulletCreate = Instantiate(bulletPrefab, GameObject.Find("SpawnPoint").transform.position, Quaternion.identity); bulletCreate.rigidbody.AddForce(transform.forward * bulletSpeed); } } }

  • Cocos2d sprite's parent not reflecting true scale value

    - by Paul Renton
I am encountering issues with determining a CCSprite's parent node's scale value. In my game I have a class that extends CCLayer and scales itself based on game triggers. Certain child sprites of this CCLayer have mathematical calculations that become inaccurate once I scale the parent CCLayer. For instance, I have a tank sprite that needs to determine its firing point within the parent node. Whenever I scale the layer and ask the layer for its scale values, they are accurate. However, when I poll the sprites contained within the layer for their parent's scale values, they always appear as one. // From within the sprite CCLOG(@"ChildSprite-> Parent's scale values are scaleX: %f, scaleY: %f", self.parent.scaleX, self.parent.scaleY); // Outputs 1.0,1.0 // From within the layer CCLOG(@"Layer-> ScaleX : %f, ScaleY: %f , SCALE: %f", self.scaleX, self.scaleY, self.scale); // Output is 0.80,0.80 Could anyone explain to me why this is the case? I don't understand why these values are different. Maybe I don't understand the inner design of Cocos2d fully. Any help is appreciated.

  • Derive a algorithm to match best position

    - by Farooq Arshed
I have pieces in my game which have stats and cost assigned to them and they can only be placed at a certain location. Lets say I have 50 pieces. e.g. Piece1 = 100 stats, 10 cost, Position A. Piece2 = 120 stats, 5 cost, Position B. Piece3 = 500 stats, 50 cost, Position C. Piece4 = 200 stats, 25 cost, Position A. and so on.. I have a board on which 12 pieces have to be allocated and have to remain inside the board cost. e.g. A board has A,B,C ... J,K,L positions and X Cost assigned to it. I have to figure out a way to place best possible piece in the correct position and should remain within the cost specified by the board. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Correct way to persist Quartz triggers

    - by davioooh
I'm quite new to Quartz and now I need to schedule some jobs in Spring Web App. I know about Spring + Quartz integration (I'm using Spring v 3.1.1) but I'm wondering if it's the right way to follow. In particular I need to persist my scheduled tasks in a DB so I can re-initialize them when application is restarted. Are there some utilities provided by Spring scheduling wrapper to do this? Can you suggest me some "well known" approach to follow?

  • How to deal with multiple Facebook requests simultaneously

    - by Peter Warbo
I'm using the Facebook SDK for my app. I have created a singleton class FacebookHelper to deal with all Facebook related logic. Whenever I make a Facebook request (i.e download friends) I set an enum i.e FacebookRequestDownloadFriends so that FacebookHelper knows how to handle errors and success for that request (since handling can be different between the different requests) This solution has worked out fine until now, because now I'm doing 2 Facebook Requests at the same time so when I set the enum for the first request i.e FacebookRequestDownloadFriends and then it will be overwritten just shortly with another request FacebookRequestDownloadEvents, so there will be confusion obviously. How can I deal with this issue without having to refactor too much code?

  • Looks like COM object is created, but JScript fails to get a reference

    - by damix911
I'm using the following code to create a COM component that I have developed and registered. var mycom = new ActiveXObject("Mirabilis.ComponentServices.1"); mycom.SetFirstNumber(5); mycom.SetSecondNumber(3); The first line runs fine, while if I alter the ProgID (that is, the string passed to ActiveXObject) I get the message Automation server can't create object. This suggests that at least the basics of the registration mechanism are working properly. I integrated some logging calls into the DLL. When I run the script I get the proof into the log file that both this call to QueryInterface: STDAPI DllGetClassObject( const CLSID &clsid, const IID &iid, void **ppv) { ... CAddFactory *pAddFact = new CAddFactory; ... HRESULT hr = pAddFact->QueryInterface(iid, ppv); if (hr == S_OK) writeToLogFile("Class QueryInterface returned S_OK"); else writeToLogFile("Class QueryInterface failed"); return hr; ... } and this one: HRESULT __stdcall CAddFactory::CreateInstance( IUnknown *pUnknownOuter, const IID &iid, void **ppv) { ... CAddObj *pObject = new CAddObj; ... HRESULT hr = pObject->QueryInterface(iid, ppv); if (hr == S_OK) writeToLogFile("Object QueryInterface returned S_OK"); else writeToLogFile("Object QueryInterface failed"); return hr; ... } return S_OK. However, when JScript gets to line 3 of the script, I get the following error message: 'mycom' is null or not an object Why is this happening? It looks like JScript should be able to obtain a reference. Some attempts I made I tried to return S_FALSE from DllCanUnloadNow to be sure that the DLL will not be unloaded, just in case, but with no luck.

  • Unreachable code detected by using const variables

    - by Anton Roth
I have following code: private const FlyCapture2Managed.PixelFormat f7PF = FlyCapture2Managed.PixelFormat.PixelFormatMono16; public PGRCamera(ExamForm input, bool red, int flags, int drawWidth, int drawHeight) { if (f7PF == FlyCapture2Managed.PixelFormat.PixelFormatMono8) { bpp = 8; // unreachable warning } else if (f7PF == FlyCapture2Managed.PixelFormat.PixelFormatMono16){ bpp = 16; } else { MessageBox.Show("Camera misconfigured"); // unreachable warning } } I understand that this code is unreachable, but I don't want that message to appear, since it's a configuration on compilation which just needs a change in the constant to test different settings, and the bits per pixel (bpp) change depending on the pixel format. Is there a good way to have just one variable being constant, deriving the other from it, but not resulting in an unreachable code warning? Note that I need both values, on start of the camera it needs to be configured to the proper Pixel Format, and my image understanding code needs to know how many bits the image is in. So, is there a good workaround, or do I just live with this warning?

I'm making a search-function in a Rails project with Postgres as db. Here's my code def self.search(search) if search find(:all, :conditions => ["LOWER(name) LIKE LOWER(?) OR LOWER(city) LIKE LOWER(?) OR LOWER(address) LIKE LOWER(?) I've made a case switch for venue_type def venue_type_check case self.venue_type when 1 "Pub" when 2 "Nattklubb" end end Now to my question: How can I find something in my query when venue_type is an int?

  • Facebook iframe app redirecting https to http, how?

I'm trying to get an app working within Facebook, but it seems that no matter what I try including forcing just https in the app settings (see screen shot), the iframe source (Facebooks canvas) seems to change the https address to http (301) which is then producing SEC7111: HTTPS security errors in IE? • Retrieve a static variable using its name dynamically using reflection

    - by user2538438
How to retrieve a static variable using its name dynamically using Java reflection? If I have class containing some variables: public class myClass { string [][] cfg1= {{"01"},{"02"},{"81"},{"82"}}; string [][]cfg2= {{"c01"},{"c02"},{"c81"},{"c82"}}; string [][] cfg3= {{"d01"},{"d02"},{"d81"}{"d82"}}; int cfg11 = 5; int cfg22 = 10; int cfg33 = 15; } And in another class I want variable name is input from user: class test { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); String userInput = in.nextLine(); // get variable from class myClass that has the same name as userInput System.out.println("variable name " + // correct variable from class) } Using reflection. • Unset/Change Binding in WPF

    - by captcalamares
How can I unset the binding applied to an object so that I can apply another binding to it from a different location? Suppose I have two data templates binded to the same object reference. Data Template #1 is the default template to be loaded. I try to bind a button command to a Function1 from my DataContext class: <Button Content="Button 1" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function1, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> This actually works and the function gets binded. However, when I try to load Data Template # 2 to the same object (while trying to bind another button command to a different function (Function2) from my DataContext class): <Button Content="Button 2" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function2, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}" /> It doesn't work and the first binding is still the one executed. Is there a workaround to this? EDIT (for better problem context): I defined my templates in my Window.Resources: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel1}"> <local:View1 /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel2}"> <local:View2 /> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> The View1.xaml and the View2.xaml contain the button definitions that I described above (I want them to command the control of my process flow). ViewModel1 and ViewModel2 are my ViewModels that implement the interface IPageViewModel which is the type of my variable CurrentPageViewModel. In my XAML, I binded ContentControl to the variable CurrentPageViewModel: <ContentControl Content="{Binding CurrentPageViewModel}" HorizontalAlignment="Center"/> In my .CS, I have a list defined as List<IPageViewModel> PageViewModels, which I use to contain the instances of my two View Models: PageViewModels.Add(new ViewModel1()); PageViewModels.Add(new ViewModel2()); // Set starting page CurrentPageViewModel = PageViewModels[0]; When I try to change my CurrentPageViewModel to the other view model, this is when I want the new binding to work. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Am I doing things the right way?

  • Is there any way that I can draw fast a chart with too many series? [on hold]

    - by Maryam Bagheri
I have a project that need to draw a fast chart with many series. I must change start position of drawing to a favor position when user want. .Net Chart is slow in lots of series. I wanted to use this library: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/32836/A-simple-C-library-for-graph-plotting?msg=4109664#xx4109664xx but loading speed is too slow when count of series increases. When I plot the chart, I must invalidate the chart for updates, drawing speed will be too slow if there are too many series. I need at least 900 series in a chart for this project. I wanted to use multiple layer series to decrease invalidate rate with the idea: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/84833/Drawing-multiple-layers-without-flicker I do not know this idea would be helpful. I tested LightningChart control but it could not help me.
