  • Nginx: check content-length before file upload takes place

    I'm trying to prevent users from uploading (accidentally or maliciously) very large files to my website. I have nginx max_client_body_size set to 4M, but if a file larger than this is uploaded, then it uploads the entire file before returning 413 (entity too large). I want to make nginx check the Content-Length header, so that it rejects the request before it's uploaded. Alternatively, a Rails solution would also be acceptable. Any help appreciated.

  • google chrome extension update text after response callback

    I am writing a Google Chrome extension. I have reached the stage where I can pass messages back and forth readily but I am running into trouble with using the response callback. My background page opens a message page and then the message page requests more information from background. When the message page receives the response I want to replace some of the standard text on the message page with custom text based on the response. Here is the code: chrome.extension.sendRequest({cmd: "sendKeyWords"}, function(response) { keyWordList=response.keyWordsFound; var keyWords=""; for (var i = 0; i FIRST QUESTION: This all seems to work fine but the text on the page doesn't change. I am almost certainly because the callback completes after the page is finished loading and the rest of the code finishes before the callback completes, too. How do I update the page with the new text? Can I listen for the callback to complete or something like that? SECOND QUESTION: The procedure I am pursuing first opens the message page and then the message page requests the keyword list from background. Since I always want the keyword list, it makes more sense to just send it when I create the tab. Can I do that?   • Licensing iPhone apps per user in existing system

    I've been asked by my job to write a iPhone app for an existing system for managing worktasks. This system is proprietary and costs money, so in order to login you need to be a customer. Now, I've got two questions about the legality of licensing iPhone apps with this system: My company would like to be able to sell the app for profit, but not as a one-time payment, but as a added subscription-fee to the already existing one. Is it legal for us (according with the terms of distributing an iPhone app on the Apple App Store) to do this? That way we'll just add another field to the users-database saying weather or not iPhone is enabled for them, and distribute the app as a free app on App Store. If the previous question is not legal, we'd like to just create a free app and distribute it as part of the existing system. In other words, no extra fee for using the iPhone app for the users, but still free distribution trough App Store. Due to our company not being american or having an office in the U.S. at all enterprice account is not an option. Please let me know if there is anything wrong with any of the above approaches.

  • Drawing a bitmap in a canvas after calling setBitmap doesn't work

    I'm drawing a bitmap in a canvas and i want to have the result in a new bitmap, but i still have a black screen as result. With this code i alway have a black screen, but when i remove the line canvas.setBitmap(bitmapRes) i have a result but not in a new bitmap. any ideas please ? Maybe transparency ?   • How can i see how many mysql connections are opend ?

    How can i see how many number of connections are opened in one request. (mysql_connect) I know that if i call mysql_connect function 100 times, function will return the connection link which is already opened only if parameters of the function is same. It will not request for new connection if connection is already exists. But i just want to make sure mysql_connect is not requesting new. I am working with a legacy system which contains so many "mysql_connect" function. Is there any setting in apache or is there any way i can log this number of connection value in apache or mysql log file? Please help.

  • Refresh page using cache

    I am trying to refresh a page, but WANT to use the cache and can't figure out how to do this. There are two situations: If I click in the URL bar and hit enter (or visit the page from somewhere else) it reloads the page/images from the cache. GREAT! If I click on the refresh button or use Javascript to refresh the page it grabs all the images again and takes forever. NOT GREAT! I've tried: top.location.reload(false); and top.location.reload(true); (I'm sending this from in an iFrame) and neither used the cache. I'm avoiding using location so it doesn't end up in the browser history twice. Question: How do I reload the page using the cached images? Is there a different javascript function or is this a mod_expires issue? Thanks for any help in advance! EDIT: (info from chrome: developer tools) When navigating to the page I get "From Cache" for all images When refreshing page I get "304 - Not Modified" for all images (and it takes the time to download each)

    I had a beautiful pure HTML mockup for a webpage that I am now recreating in GWT. I'm attempting to use the same css in my GWT app, but that's not working well for me. GWT styles seem to override mine. I know I can completely disable the GWT styles, however I would prefer to have the styling for the GWT components that I'm adding (tab panel, button, etc). Is there a way to disable GWT styling, and only enable it for components that I choose?

I solved it using hashtable and wrote a method which takes a constant reference to the string and returns the first non repeating character. However, when there is no non repeating character present in the string, i return -1 and in the main program i check as follows char c = firstNonRepeating( word ); if (static_cast<int> (c) == -1) cout<<"no non repeating character present\n"; else cout<<c<<endl; is that the correct way to return -1 when required character is not present?

    I am currently try to integrate MEF and PRISM to work with each other. Everything is working fine so far. Now i would like to use MEF runtime module discovery (DeploymentCatalog) which will be used to download XAPs from server directory and then plug it into one of the Region inside my MAIN UI. I am using UnityBootStrapper and inside this class i also integrated MEF container. This sample application is based on Glenn Block (http://codebetter.com/glennblock/2010/01/03/mef-and-prism-exploration-mef-module-loading/).   • Mercurial Branching Model for task features

    My development env: Windows 7, TortoiseHg, ASP.NET 4.0/MVC3 Test branch: code on test server Prod branch: code on production server This is my current branching model. The reason to branch out every task (feature) is because some features go to live slower. So in above graph, task 1 finished earlier (changeset #5), and merge into test branch for testing. However, due to bug or modification of original request, changesets #10, #12 have been made. While task 2 has finished testing #8 and pushed to live #9 already. My problem is every time when modifying task branch (like #10, #12), I have to do another merge to test branch (#11, #13), this makes the graph very messy. Is there any way to solve this issue? Or any better branching model?

    In my quest to read all the books I have lying on my bookshelf I have finally got round to finishing C# Concisely (ISBN 0-321-15418-5). While this book was fairly old, I found it to be quite useful for a student wanting to learn C# for the first time, and a nice way to review and make I hadn’t missed something when I was learning the language. The book is simple and explains the basic concepts in a clean manner, but is really intended for the beginner programmer – it also had a few chapters dedicated to winforms, which was an indication of its age. None the less, I will keep it on the bookshelf so when I come across someone who is wanting to learn the language I can give them it as a gift.

  • Plan your SharePoint 2010 Content Type Hub carefully

    Currently setting up a new environment on SharePoint 2010 (which was made available for download yesterday if anyone missed that :-). One of the new features of SharePoint 2010 is to set up a Content Type Hub (which is a part of the Metadata Service Application), which is a hub for all Content Types that other Site Collections can subscribe to. That is you only need to manage your content types in one location. Setting up the Content Type Hub is not that difficult but you must make it very careful to avoid a lot of work and troubleshooting. Here is a short tutorial with a few tips and tricks to make it easy for you to get started. Determine location of Content Type Hub First of all you need to decide in which Site Collection to place your Content Type Hub; in the root site collection or a specific one. I think using a specific Site Collection that only acts as a Content Type Hub is the best way, there are no best practice as of now. So I create a new Site Collection, at for instance http://server/sites/CTH/. The top-level site of this site collection should be for instance a Team Site. You cannot use Blank Site by default, which would have been the best option IMHO, since that site does not have the Taxonomy feature stapled upon it (check the TaxonomyFeatureStapler feature for which site templates that can be used). Configure Managed Metadata Service Application Next you need to create your Managed Metadata Service Application or configure the existing one, Central Administration > Application Management > Manage Service Applications. Select the Managed Metadata service application and click Properties if you already have created it. In the bottom of the dialog window when you are creating the service application or when you are editing the properties is a section to fill in the Content Type Hub. In this text box fill in the URL of the Content Type Hub. It is essential that you have decided where your Content Type Hub will reside, since once this is set you cannot change it. The only way to change it is to rebuild the whole managed metadata service application! Also make sure that you enter the URL correctly. I did copy and paste the URL once and got the /default.aspx in the URL which funked the whole service up. Make sure that you only use the URL to the Site Collection of the hub. Now you have to set up so that other Site Collections can consume the content types from the hub. This is done by selecting the connection for the managed metadata service application and clicking properties. A new dialog window opens and there you need to click the Consumes content types from the Content Type Gallery at nnnn. Now you are free to syndicate your Content Types from the Hub. Publish Content Types To publish a Content Type from the hub you need to go to Site Settings > Content Types and select the content type that you would like to publish. Then select Manage publishing for this content type. This takes you to a page from where you can Publish, Unpublish or Republish the content type. Once the content type is published it can take up to an hour for the subscribing Site Collections to get it. This is controlled by the Content Type Subscriber job that is scheduled to run once an hour. To speed up your publishing just go to Central Administration > Monitoring > Review Job Definitions > Content Type Subscriber and click Run now and you content type is very soon available for use. Published Content Type status You can check the status of the content type publishing in your destination site collections by selecting Site Settings > Content Type Publishing. From here you can force a refresh of all subscribed content types, see which ones that are subscribed and finally check the publishing error log. This error log is very useful for detecting errors during the publishing. For instance if you use any features such as ratings, metadata, document ids in your content type hub and your destination site collection does not have those features available this will be reported here.

  • Save password in WCF adapter binding file

    Binding file for WCF Adapter doesn't save the password no matter it is generated by "Add Generated Items..." wizard in Visual Studio or "Export Bindings..." in administration console. It is by design dut to the consideration of security, but it is very annoying especially when you import bindings which contain multiple WCF send ports. The way to aviod retyping password everytime after an import is to edit the binding file before import. Here is what needs to be done. 1. Find the following string:     &lt;Password vt="1" /&gt; "&lt;" means "<", "&gt;" means ">", "vt" means "Variable Type", variable type 1 is "NULL", so the above string can be translated to "<Password/>" 2.   • can't connect to vsftpd from outside network

    i know this has been asked many times before, but nothing seems to resolve my issue. i have vsftpd running on ubuntu 10.04. i can connect with ftp localhost on the machine. i can connect from another machine in my network. i just cannot connect from outside. the machine is behind an airport extreme managed by airport utility on a mac. 21 is open as per nmap: macmini:~$ nmap localhost Starting Nmap 5.21 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2011-04-10 23:49 EDT Nmap scan report for localhost (127.0.0.1) Host is up (0.00045s latency).   • How to mirror filesystems with millions of hardlinks?

    We have one big problem at the moment: We need to mirror a filesystem for one of our customers. Thats usual not really a problem, but here it is: On this filesystem there is one folder with millions of hardlinks (yes! MILLIONS!). rsync requires more then 4 days to just build the filelist. We use the following rsync options: rsync -Havz --progress serverA:/data/cms /data/ Has anyone a idea how to speed up this rsync, or use alternatives? We could not use dd as the target disk is smaller then the source.

  • Can a virtual mikrotik box bridge a hyper-v internal network with a hyper-v external network?

    I am trying to set up a Mikrotik router as a transparent firewall on my network. I got the machine working on a hardware MT box, but my boss wants the MT virtualized. I have been trying the set up where my virtual windows box talks to the Mikrotik via private or internal network on the Hyper-V host. I can get the two machines to talk, but as soon as I set up a bridge on the MT, all traffic ceases between the two. Is it possible to create a bridge for this purpose (having the MT silently in front of my firewalled server)? I could really use some help.
