    Hi, This question may not be exactly programming related, but this is about development. I have been trying to find IDEs that support JIRA/Bugzilla so that I could simply integrate the IDE with SourceForge. I do not like to refresh my browser to see issues, bug reports, security problems, etc. I would like to send issues, resolve issues, right from the IDE. I am currently developing with NetBeans, but I see no ways of integrating into any of the services provided by SourceForge. Am I missing something?

  • ASP.NET MVC DropDownList Validation

    Hello everybody, I have [DisplayName("Country")] public List<SelectListItem> Countries { get; set; } property in Model class for DropDownList. When I try to check if the ModelState.IsValid on form postback it's always false & error for Countries tells "Can't convert [value] to SelectListItem" or some of a kind. I figured out there is no straight-forward mapping for drop down selected value (looks like I'll have to read value from Form value collection), but how can I ignore binding and validation for List property? I just want to make ModelState.IsValid attribute to be true if all the other fields are populated properly. Thank you in advance

  • Retrieving image from database using Ajax

    I'm trying to read image from database with Ajax, but I could not read the xmlhttp.responseText to the img src. The image is saved as binary data in database and also retrieved as binary data. I'm using Ajax in JSP, because I want to give the user the ability to upload images and I will view the last uploaded image, on mouse over action the Ajax will be activated and get the image back, the problem is in reading the img from the response.   • WPF with code only

    I've seen a lot of questions about the merits of WPF here, and essentially every answer says it's the bee's knees, but essentially every answer also talks about things like XAML, in many cases graphic designers and Expression Blend etc. My question is, is it worth getting into WPF if you're a solo coder working in C# only? Specifically, I don't have a graphic designer, nor any great talent in that area myself; I don't use point-and-click tools; I write everything in C#, not XML. Winforms works fine in those conditions. Is the same true of WPF, or does it turn out that important functions can only be done in XAML, the default settings aren't intended for actual use and you have to have a graphic designer on the team to make things look good, etc., and somebody in my position would be better off to stick to Winforms?

    I am a C# developer getting started on Objective-C / Cocoa Touch programming. I think I might have gotten some terms wrong because I keep thinking about them "the C# way". Specifically, I have come around the term "protocol" in various documentation and tutorials. In Objective-C, what exactly is a protocol ? Can it be compared to a C# interface ? Is the following declaration the same as saying "The class is implementing the protocol UITextFieldDelegate" ? Or is UITextFieldDelegate to be compared with a generic type parameter in C# ? @interface MyViewController : UIViewController <UITextFieldDelegate> { }

    Hello , I went through local variables and class variables concept. But I had stuck at a doubt " Why is it so that we cannot declare local variables as static " ? For e.g Suppose we have a play( ) function : void play( ) { static int i=5; System.out.println(i); } It gives me error in eclipse : Illegal modifier for parameter i; I had this doubt because of the following concepts I have read : Variables inside method : scope is local i.e within that method. When variable is declared as static , it is present for the entire class i.e not to particular object. Please could anyone help me out to clarify the concept. Thanks.

So... I want to define category order and in search results will be sorted for this order and in category order will be date DESC. Only posts (no categories) will be visible. Anybody have any idea?

  • How to see ALT text in Firefox

    I know Mozilla thinks it's a bug that IE shows ALT text even after the image has loaded; while users think it's a bug that Firefox doesn't work exactly like IE. This disagreement is irrelevant to my question: How can I make my Firefox show the ALT tooltip when I hover the mouse over an image? Obviously XKCD is a bit tame without this essential functionality. I've tried the Firefox plugin Popup ALT Attribute but it doesn't work; after restarting the browser and hovering over an image with an ALT text, no tooltip appears. I reproduced this on several computers with several (Windows) OS versions.

    What is the preferred method of writing loops according to efficiency: Way a) /*here I'm hoping that compiler will optimize this code and won't be calling size every time it iterates through this loop*/ for (unsigned i = firstString.size(); i < anotherString.size(), ++i) { //do something } or maybe should I do it this way: Way b) unsigned first = firstString.size(); unsigned second = anotherString.size(); and now I can write: for (unsigned i = first; i < second, ++i) { //do something } the second way seems to me like worse option for two reasons: scope polluting and verbosity but it has the advantage of being sure that size() will be invoked once for each object.
