  • How to detect application préference changes.

    - by Raphael Pinto
I created a Settings.bundle in my app where the user can change some properties like font size. It works. But when I leave my App, and I change my setting, I don't know how I can get notified of the change. For the moment, I create a function call each time a view is loaded that check for app settings. But I wonder if there is an other and proper way to do this.

  • uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net

    - by Maestro1024
uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net I have been looking at the asp.net upload control but that is for one file (unless someone knows a better way to do it). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.fileupload.aspx For what I want to do I don't even really need a browse. I know the files off of the client are at a certain location. Is it possible to create a collection of *HttpPostedFile*s and upload those? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httppostedfile.aspx I don't think it is possible but would be glad to be proven wrong. Is there a different asp.net method or control that will easily allow uploading multiple files from client to server?

  • [C++] A minimalistic smart array (container) class template

    - by legends2k
    I've written a (array) container class template (lets call it smart array) for using it in the BREW platform (which doesn't allow many C++ constructs like STD library, exceptions, etc. It has a very minimal C++ runtime support); while writing this my friend said that something like this already exists in Boost called MultiArray, I tried it but the ARM compiler (RVCT) cries with 100s of errors. I've not seen Boost.MultiArray's source, I've just started learning template only lately; template meta programming interests me a lot, although am not sure if this is strictly one, which can be categorised thus. So I want all my fellow C++ aficionados to review it ~ point out flaws, potential bugs, suggestions, optimisations, etc.; somthing like "you've not written your own Big Three which might lead to...". Possibly any criticism that'll help me improve this class and thereby my C++ skills. smart_array.h #include <vector> using std::vector; template <typename T, size_t N> class smart_array { vector < smart_array<T, N - 1> > vec; public: explicit smart_array(vector <size_t> &dimensions) { assert(N == dimensions.size()); vector <size_t>::iterator it = ++dimensions.begin(); vector <size_t> dimensions_remaining(it, dimensions.end()); smart_array <T, N - 1> temp_smart_array(dimensions_remaining); vec.assign(dimensions[0], temp_smart_array); } explicit smart_array(size_t dimension_1 = 1, ...) { static_assert(N > 0, "Error: smart_array expects 1 or more dimension(s)"); assert(dimension_1 > 1); va_list dim_list; vector <size_t> dimensions_remaining(N - 1); va_start(dim_list, dimension_1); for(size_t i = 0; i < N - 1; ++i) { size_t dimension_n = va_arg(dim_list, size_t); assert(dimension_n > 0); dimensions_remaining[i] = dimension_n; } va_end(dim_list); smart_array <T, N - 1> temp_smart_array(dimensions_remaining); vec.assign(dimension_1, temp_smart_array); } smart_array<T, N - 1>& operator[](size_t index) { assert(index < vec.size() && index >= 0); return vec[index]; } size_t length() const { return vec.size(); } }; template<typename T> class smart_array<T, 1> { vector <T> vec; public: explicit smart_array(vector <size_t> &dimension) : vec(dimension[0]) { assert(dimension[0] > 0); } explicit smart_array(size_t dimension_1 = 1) : vec(dimension_1) { assert(dimension_1 > 0); } T& operator[](size_t index) { assert(index < vec.size() && index >= 0); return vec[index]; } size_t length() { return vec.size(); } }; Sample Usage: #include <iostream> using std::cout; using std::endl; int main() { // testing 1 dimension smart_array <int, 1> x(3); x[0] = 0, x[1] = 1, x[2] = 2; cout << "x.length(): " << x.length() << endl; // testing 2 dimensions smart_array <float, 2> y(2, 3); y[0][0] = y[0][1] = y[0][2] = 0; y[1][0] = y[1][1] = y[1][2] = 1; cout << "y.length(): " << y.length() << endl; cout << "y[0].length(): " << y[0].length() << endl; // testing 3 dimensions smart_array <char, 3> z(2, 4, 5); cout << "z.length(): " << z.length() << endl; cout << "z[0].length(): " << z[0].length() << endl; cout << "z[0][0].length(): " << z[0][0].length() << endl; z[0][0][4] = 'c'; cout << z[0][0][4] << endl; // testing 4 dimensions smart_array <bool, 4> r(2, 3, 4, 5); cout << "z.length(): " << r.length() << endl; cout << "z[0].length(): " << r[0].length() << endl; cout << "z[0][0].length(): " << r[0][0].length() << endl; cout << "z[0][0][0].length(): " << r[0][0][0].length() << endl; // testing copy constructor smart_array <float, 2> copy_y(y); cout << "copy_y.length(): " << copy_y.length() << endl; cout << "copy_x[0].length(): " << copy_y[0].length() << endl; cout << copy_y[0][0] << "\t" << copy_y[1][0] << "\t" << copy_y[0][1] << "\t" << copy_y[1][1] << "\t" << copy_y[0][2] << "\t" << copy_y[1][2] << endl; return 0; }

  • How are .NET 4 GUIDs generated?

    - by mafutrct
I am aware of the multitude of questions here as well as Raymond's excellent (as usual) post. However, since the algorithm to create GUIDs was changed apparently, I found it hard to get my hands on any up-to-date information. The MSDN seems to try and provide as few information as possible. What is known about how GUIDs are generated in .NET 4? What was changed, and how does it affect the security ("randomness") and integrity ("uniqueness")? One specific aspect I'm interested in: In v1, it seems to be about impossible to generate the same GUID on a single machine again since there was a timestamp and counter involved. In v4, this is no longer the case (I was told), so the chance to get the same GUID on a single machine ... increased?

  • Basic SWIG C++ use for Java

    - by duckworthd
I've programmed a couple years in both C++ and Java, but I've finally come to a point where I need to bring a little unification between the two -- ideally, using SWIG. I've written a tiny and fairly pointless little class called Example: #include <stdio.h> class Example { public: Example(); ~Example(); int test(); }; #include "example.h" Example::Example() { printf("Example constructor called\n"); } Example::~Example() { printf("Example destructor called\n"); } int Example::test() { printf("Holy sh*t, I work!\n"); return 42; } And a corresponding interface file: /* File: example.i */ %module test %{ #include "example.h" %} %include "example.h" Now I have questions. Firstly, when I want to actually run SWIG initially, am I supposed to use the example_wrap.c (from swig -java example.i) or example_wrap.cxx (from swig -c++ example.i) file when recompiling with my original example.cpp? Or perhaps both? I tried both and the latter seemed most likely, but when I recompile as so: g++ example.cpp example_wrap.cxx -I/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-.../include/ I get a host of errors regarding TcL of all things, asking me for the tcl.h header. I can't even wrap my mind around why it wants that much less needs it, and as such have found myself where I don't even know how to begin using SWIG.

  • what's the use of 0 in wait system call?

    - by Supereme
Hi, The syntax for the wait system call is pid= wait(&var) where pid is the process id of child and var is the variable which will contain the reason for exiting child. But what happens when we use wait((int *)0)? What does it exactly mean? Thank you.

The datasetname for which query execution is failing is changing randomly. When I am executing those dataset queries seperately it was not throwing any errors.Sometimes I am getting my report without any failure. I am really fix in this issue.Don't have any clue how to solve this error. plz anyone help me. Thanks in advance.

  • Using IPrinciple.Identity.Name as a key in a dataBase to identify user's rows.

    - by bplus
I'm writing a small intranet app that uses Windows Authentication and Asp.Net MVC. I need to store various bits of data in a db against each user. As far as I can tell the IPrinciple object does not seem to have something like a unique id. So I was thinking I could just use User.Identity.Name as a unique value to identify rows in my db. Is this a bad idea? Is there an alternative to this approach? Thanks for any help.

  • Get column of a mysql entry

    - by Xelluloid
Is there a possibility to get the name of the column a database entry belongs to? Perhaps I have three columns with column names col1, col2 and col3. Now I want to select for every column the column with the maximum entry, something like this. Select name_of_column(max(col1,col2,col3)). I know that I can ask for the name of the columns by its ordinal position in the information_schema.COLUMNS table but how do I get the ordinal position of a database entry within a table?

  • Understanding ServiceKnownType in WCF

    - by SLC
I am having a little trouble understanding ServiceKnownType in WCF. Taken from this blog, the following code does not work: [DataContract(Namespace = “http://mycompany.com/”)] public class Shape{…} [DataContract(Namespace = “http://mycompany.com/”)] public class Circle : Shape {…} [ServiceContract] public interface IMyServer { [OperationContract] bool AddShape(Shape shape); } . IMyServer client = new ChannelFactory<IMyServer>(binding, endPoint).CreateChannel(); client.AddShape(new Circle()); The reason it doesn't work is because you are trying to add a circle, but the servicecontract only allows a Shape. You are supposed to do something with knowntypes, but I am a bit confused about how that works. Since that code is in the service, why doesn't it know automatically that a Circle is derived from Shape? Additionally, what does ServiceKnownType actually do? When ServiceKnownType is put below the DataContract, apparently that makes it work. I am guessing it says hey, this particular object type called Shape can also be a Circle. I am having trouble understanding why it would do it this way around, because if you add a new type like Square you are going to have to add that too, wouldn't it make sense if it cannot infer it, to put the KnownType onto the Square rather than the Shape? So the Square says hey, I am a Shape, and you don't have to fiddle with the Shape class?

  • Is there a web site where I can paste a SQL Insert statement and have it break it out by column?

    - by Scott Whitlock
I've been working on an application that has no discernable data access layer, so all the SQL statements are just built up as strings and executed. I'm constantly confronted by very long INSERT statements where I'm trying to figure out what value in the VALUES list matches up with what column in the column name list. I was about to create a little helper application where I could paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a list of values matched up with the column names, just for debugging, and I thought, "someone else has probably done this already." Does anyone know of a web site where I can just paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a two column table with column names in the first column and values in the second column?

  • How to use forfiles (or similar) to delete files older than n days, but always leaving most recent n

    - by Aidan Whitehall
(Using Windows 2000 and 2003 Server) We use forfiles.exe to delete backup .zip files older than n days, and it works great (command is a bit like below) forfiles -p"C:\Backup" -m"*.zip" -c"cmd /c if @ISDIR==FALSE del \"@PATH\@FILE\"" -d-5 If a .zip file fails to be created, I'd like to ensure that we don't end up with 0 .zip files in the backup after 5 days. Therefore, the command needs to be: "delete anything older than 5 days, but ALWAYS keep the most recent 5 files, EVEN if they themselves are older than 5 days" We can use forfiles.exe or another solution (although anything that is a slick one-liner is ALWAYS preferable to a script file). Thanks!

  • Test, if object was deleted

    - by justik
Look to the following code, please: class Node { private: double x, y; public: Node (double xx, double yy): x(xx), y(yy){} }; int main() { Node *n1 = new Node(1,1); Node *n2 = n1; delete n2; n2 = NULL; if (n1 != NULL) //Bad test { delete n1; //throw an exception } } There are two pointers n1, n2 pointed to the same object. I would like to detect whether n2 was deleted using n1 pointer test. But this test results in exception. Is there any way how to determine whether the object was deleted (or was not deleted) using n1 pointer ? Thanks for your help.

  • How to load data on option box in php

    - by user225269
    I'm having trouble loading the mysql data on the html form option box using php. Here's my code: <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","myuname","mypassword"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("school", $con); $idnum= mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['idnum']); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM student WHERE IDNO='$idnum'"); ?> <?php while ( $row = mysql_fetch_array($result) ) { ?> <tr> <td width="30" height="35"><font size="2">*I D Number:</td> <td width="30"><input name="idnum" type="text" maxlength="5" value="<?php echo $row["IDNO"]; ?>" readonly="readonly"></td> </tr> My problem is loading it here: <td><font size="2">Gender</td> <td> <select name="gender" id="gender"> <font size="2"> <option value="<?php echo $line['IDNO']; ?> "><?php $line['GENDER'] ; ?></option> </select></td></td> The table looks like this: IDNO | GENDER 123 | M 321 | F What am I supposed to do?To load the exact gender corresponding to the IDNO?

  • Find interior angle of polygon in 3D

    - by Himadri
I have some points in 3D but all points are in single plane. It can be any plane. Now I wanted to know the interior angle between any three consecutive points. How can I do so? For example, I have three points (1,0,0),(0,0,0) and (-1,1,0) then I want the answer as 135 degree. But If I have the third point is (-1,-1,0) then the answer should be 225 degree.

  • Why are there so many DB management Systems ?

    - by mr.bio
Hi there , i always asked myself. Why are there so many DB management systems? I am not an DB expert and i never thought about using another DB than mysql. Programming languages offer different paradigms, so there it makes sense to choose a specific language for your purpose. What are factors to choose a specific DB management system ?

  • C# convert integer to hex and back again

    - by codette
How can I convert the following? 2934 (integer) to B76 (hex) Let me explain what I am trying to do. I have User IDs in my database that are stored as integers. Rather than having users reference their IDs I want to let them use the hex value. The main reason is because it's shorter. So not only do I need to go from integer to hex but I also need to go from hex to integer. Is there an easy way to do this in C#?
