    I want to write a 'Date' class that behaves like a Value Type. for example, Instead of writing a Clone method for setting properties safely, make the Date class to pass by value: public Date Birthday { get { return this.birthday; } set { this.birthday = value.Clone(); } //I want to write this.birthday = value; //without changing external value when this.Birthday changes } I know this is possible because System.String is a class and behaves like a value. for example: String s1 = "Hello"; String s2 = "Hi"; s1 = s2; s2="Hello"; Console.WriteLine(s1); //Prints 'Hi' First I thought writers of this class override '=' operator, but now I know that the '=' operator can not be overridden. so how they write String class?

  • How do you stop Eclipse from inserting a certain class in Content-Assist?

    I'm using SpringSource Tool Suite (Eclipse) to program with Grails, and I'm also using JFreechart in the program. In Grails you log by typing log.info("method worked"). Unfortunately JFrechart has a class called "Log" with Static methods like "info". This means that in STS I type log.info and then when I type space or ( Eclipse "assists" me by importing the JFreechart Log class and changing what I've typed to Log.info(message). Very irritating. I reckon I could turn off the Eclipse option to "insert single proposals automatically", but I like this feature. Can I instruct Eclipse not to give me content assist from this particular JFreechart class?

  • How best to deal with warning c4305 when type could change?

    I'm using both Ogre and NxOgre, which both have a Real typedef that is either float or double depending on a compiler flag. This has resulted in most of our compiler warnings now being: warning C4305: 'argument' : truncation from 'double' to 'Ogre::Real' When initialising variables with 0.1 for example. Normally I would use 0.1f but then if you change the compiler flag to double precision then you would get the reverse warning. I guess it's probably best to pick one and stick with it but I'd like to write these in a way that would work for either configuration if possible. One fix would be to use #pragma warning (disable : 4305) in files where it occurs, I don't know if there are any other more complex problems that can be hidden by not having this warning. I understand I would push and pop these in header files too so that they don't end up spreading across code. Another is to create some macro based on the accuracy compiler flag like: #if OGRE_DOUBLE_PRECISION #define INIT_REAL(x) (x) #else #define INIT_REAL(x) static_cast<float>( x ) #endif which would require changing all the variable initialisation done so far but at least it would be future proof. Any preferences or something I haven't thought of?

    I'm looking for a fun challenge, and am thinking about learning Python. I've heard really good things about the language. My question is, how (if at all) can Python compliment the skills of a typical C# developer working mainly with MS technologies on a Windows Platform. Some examples of typical C# dev on windows would be (SOA applications, web applications, windows services, automation, xml handling) Surely there must be some scenarios where knowing Python would help you get certain tasks done quicker or more efficiently than using traditional C# / MS technologies. If you know of any specific scenarios, then please share. And lastly should this question be a community wiki?

  • Scroll UITableViewCell above keyboard for small tableview

    I have a tableview which is added to a UIViewController as the tableview only fills the bottom 3/4 of the screen.The rows contain editable UITextFields. When a field is tapped, the keyboard appears but the table does not scroll upwards as would normally be the case. Consequently, the keyboard obscures the field being edited. I have tried calling [tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath atScrollPosition:(UITableViewScrollPosition)scrollPosition animated:(BOOL)animated] but this has no effect if the table contains only a few rows. How can I get the table to scroll a specific cell above the keyboard? Thank you

  • Frameworks And 'traditional' coding

    Hello Sorry if this too open ended for this forum, but here goes. I mostly use languages such as PHP and Javascript without frameworks (e.g Jquery, Drupal, CakePHP). The only real exception to this for me, is Wordpress when 'traditional' coding is slower for building information sites. I've dabbled with several frameworks over the past year and despite everyone else's (seemingly) good experiences with them, I seem to of hit a roadblock. My basic problem is that for the amount of time invested in effectively relearning a language, I don't get a lot in return. Jqeury as an example. There is really very little in that, that I couldn't accomplish easily with a few getElement.. commands. So my question is, what advantages do frameworks offer over previous coding styles?   • How to debug without Visual Studio?

    Hello, Python - c++ dll - c# dll I have a com interop c# dll that is loaded in a wrapper c++ dll throught the .tlb file generated in c# to be used in a python project. When I run in my computer it works fine but when I run in a computer that just got formated it gives: WindowsError: exception code 0xe0434f4d I have the redistribute c++ installed and the .net compact framework 3.5 on the formatted computer. How can I see what is the correct exception on a computer that does not have visual studio installed? How can I debug all of this? I can't debug the dll's itself can I? Note: in my computer all works well so maybe is some dll or file missing. I allready used Dependency Walker to see if there's some dll missing, and nop!

Anyway, things are great up until the time when I initiate a DH key exchange. I've compared the traffic when I establish a ssh connection (from openssh client to openssh server), to the traffic when my client connects to the same openssh server. OpenSSH client - OpenSSH server (S for server, C for client): S: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-6ubuntu2\r (saying hello) C: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.2\r (introducing myself) C: Key Exchange Init (0x14 = 20) S: Key Exchange Init C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Request (0x22 = 34) (with DH GEX min, number of bits and max) S: Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange Reply (with P, G, etc.) C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Init S: Diffie-Hellman GEX Reply My client - OpenSSH server: S: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-6ubuntu2\r (saying hello) C: SSH-2.0-Some_Name\r (introducing myself) C: Key Exchange Init (0x14 = 20) S: Key Exchange Init C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Request (0x22 = 34) (with DH GEX min, number of bits and max) and then a bogus TCP packet as reply (probably the server connection has been terminated after/upon GEX Request. I have yet to use AES128 (which I think is the encryption chosen, but I'm not sure how to verify this...), and I'm still sending in a non-compressed format, looking to get the P, G etc. values to make the DH calculations. So where I'm stranded is: RFC 4419 page 3 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4419.txt I've send SSH_MSG_KEY_DH_GEX_REQUEST, but the server does not respond SSH_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GROUP. Can anyone give me a little advice on what I'm not understanding here? Does the server not understand my GEX request (due to it expecting encryption, or?)? Any help is very much appreciated, thanks :)

  • Eclipse - CDT Content Assist extremely slow

    Hi.. I just installed eclipse-cdt 3.2.2 on Linux (Mint). The content assist feature which pops up when you do a "." or "-" on a struct or struct pointer, is extremely slow and freezes the entire IDE for around 10-20 seconds. This I feel, is because it searches through the entire include directory /usr/include that comes by default for any C project that you create. How can this issue be solved? Thanks..

  • Confused about this factory, as it doesn't look like an Abstract Factory nor Factory Method

    I'm looking into Guice and I've been reading its documentation recently. Reading the motivation section I don't understand the factories part, why they name it that way. To me that factory is just a wrapper for the implementing class they want it to return after calling getInstance(). public class CreditCardProcessorFactory { private static CreditCardProcessor instance; public static void setInstance(CreditCardProcessor creditCardProcessor) { instance = creditCardProcessor; } public static CreditCardProcessor getInstance() { if (instance == null) { throw new IllegalStateException("CreditCardProcessorFactory not initialized. " + "Did you forget to call CreditCardProcessor.setInstance() ?"); } return instance; } } Why do they call it factory as well if it is neither an abstract factory nor a factory method?     Hello! I need some advise on my PHP code organisation. I need classes where I can store different functions, and I need access to those classes in different parts of my project. Making an object of this classes each time is too sadly, so I've found a two ways have to solve it. First is to use static methods, like class car { public static $wheels_count = 4; public static function change_wheels_count($new_count) { car::$wheels_count = $new_count; } } Second is to use singleton pattern: class Example { // Hold an instance of the class private static $instance; // The singleton method public static function singleton() { if (!isset(self::$instance)) { $c = __CLASS__; self::$instance = new $c; } return self::$instance; } } But author of the article about singletons said, that if I have too much singletons in my code I should reconstruct it. But I need a lot of such classes. Can anybody explain prons and cons of each way? Which is mostly used? Are there more beautiful ways?

  • Installing SharePoint 2010 on a dev machine with an external database

    I've been following Microsoft's guide for installing a dev environment on Windows 7: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx In order for it to not run like a dog I've created a SQL Server 2008 instance on our database server specifically for this dev machine. The article does mention that you might be wanting to use an external database in regard to making sure the database cumulative update is installed. It doesn't make any other mention of configuring it to use a external database. I was hoping that the configuration wizard would then prompt about which database to use but annoyingly it just set-up the configuration database locally. How do I go about installing SharePoint on a dev environment with an external database, and will I need to reformat this machine and do it all again?

    I can already correctly detect the number of logical processors correctly on all three of these platforms. To be able to detect the number of physical processors/cores correctly I'll have to detect if hyperthreading is supported AND active (or enabled if you prefer) and if so divide the number of logical processors by 2 to determine the number of physical processors. Perphaps I should provide an example: A quad core Intel CPU's with hyperthreading enabled has 4 physical cores, yet 8 logical processors (hyperthreading creates 4 more logical processors). So my current function would detect 8 instead of the desired 4. My question therefore is if there is a way to detect whether hyperthreading is supported AND ENABLED?

  • VMware - Watching multiple virtual machine screens

    Hi, I don't know even if I put the question right, but here's what I'd like to accomplish. I have avoided specifying exact Vmware virtualization product here because I'm not sure which one would be most suitable for the task at hand. I am developing an application that works in local network. This application has to run on several computers at the same time, and it's important to me, as a developer and tester, to see (literally) how it behaves at all times on all computers. Is there any way to connect to screens of virtual machines deployed on ESX, ESXi, Sever 2.0, or some other product, so that I can see something like grid of screens, say 4x4 or 6x4 or whatever number of scaled screens, at the same time? Ability to interact with screens directly from grid (by double-clicking a screen, for instance, and then getting full resolution screen) would be greatly appreciated, of course. I hope that someone understood what I meant here. :)
