  • Combobox in bound DataGridView

    Hi. I've got a DataGridView control which is bound to a database table. I want one of the columns in the gridview to be of combobox type. The combobox should contain a list of hardcoded strings, which is the same for all rows in the datagridview. One of the fields in my database table is an index for this list of hardcoded strings. I've programatically added a new column to the gridview of type "DataGridViewComboBoxColumn", which successfully creates the column with comboboxes in it. However, that's then not bound to the index field in my DB table. The index field in my DB table is actually automatically bound to a column via the DataAdapter::Fill method. I've set this column to hidden, so it's hidden to the user. Obviously just before updating the dataadapter, I can programatically fixup the hidden column in my datatable with the SelectedIndex of my combobox. Just wondering if there's a better way of doing this? Thankyou for any help with this, Dan.

  • Webcrawler, feedback?

    Hey folks, every once in a while I have the need to automate data collection tasks from websites. Sometimes I need a bunch of URLs from a directory, sometimes I need an XML sitemap (yes, I know there is lots of software for that and online services). Anyways, as follow up to my previous question I've written a little webcrawler that can visit websites. Basic crawler class to easily and quickly interact with one website. Override "doAction(String URL, String content)" to process the content further (e.g. store it, parse it). Concept allows for multi-threading of crawlers. All class instances share processed and queued lists of links. Instead of keeping track of processed links and queued links within the object, a JDBC connection could be established to store links in a database. Currently limited to one website at a time, however, could be expanded upon by adding an externalLinks stack and adding to it as appropriate. JCrawler is intended to be used to quickly generate XML sitemaps or parse websites for your desired information. It's lightweight.   • HP Virtual Connect and VLAN Tagging

    We have a c7000 chasis with the ability to have 8 uplinks per ESX host. Only 6 are currenlty active. I have a Virtual Switch with multiple vlan port groups and all the VMs are working fine. Recently we've been asked to setup network load balancing for one of our VMs, so we had our Virtual Connect engineer activate the last two uplinks. We then created a new vSwitch and added the two new uplinks to this vSwitch. We then moved the VM to this new vSwitch, but we get no connectivity. What could be the issue? We also added the appropriate VLAN ID. The VConnect engineer says everything is configured correctly and networking TEAM says the appropriate trunking is setup, so we are at a loss...

  • Forcibly Uninstalling Eclipse 3.5 Plugins

    How do you forcibly uninstall Eclipse 3.5 plugins without using Eclipse? I made the mistake of installing Google's Android SDK, and now when I try to check for updates via the "Check For Updates" or "Install New Software", some Android process runs, consumes all my CPU, takes up 3 gigs of memory, and crashes Eclipse. I can't even get to the uninstall dialog before Google's plugin kills everything.

  • Parent class issue - UITableViewController doesn't work

    When I access my Search View from my tab bar, the view gets loaded when SearchViewController interface is set like this: @interface SearchViewController : UIViewController but it crashes when I set it like this (although it doesn't crash when it is not accessed through the tab bar): @interface SearchViewController : UITableViewController Why? I need the UITableViewController as I have a table view that I access from the tab bar.

  • Proper way to resignFirstResponder when a UITableView is touched?

    Hello all, I have a pretty simple UITableView who's cells contain UITextFields and I need to be able to call resignFirstResponder to hide the keyboard whenever a user touches the UITableView outside of one of the cells. I have read this question/answer but it seems like a very rudimentary way to achieve this. I have read about a way to do it by converting the UITableView to a UIControl so that you can connect the TouchDown event. Does anybody know the standard or preferred way to achieve this functionality?

  • Logging to screen and to a file

    What design pattern might apply to logging? What is normally used in this type of situation? Any good tutorials? I am writing a client-server application using C89 and gcc 4.4.4. I now need to implement some logging feature that will display log messages on the screen as well as log to a file. However, I don't want to display all log messages (warning, error, critical, unrecoverable, debug, etc). Maybe I can set so that it will display just errors and nothing else. For example, the user might not be interested in the debug messages on the screen output.

  • Autotools: how to cleanup files created by "./configure" in lighttpd project?

    Hi all, I'm starting to try out lighttpd for an embedded linux project. I got the curret source package and and started writing a master makefile ecapsulating all configer, compile, install (for testing) etc stuff. And vice-versa I want to cleanup every step. This cleanup should be 100%, i.e. there should be no generated files anymore after cleanup. This is important for repetitive tests. I wonder, is there a way to cleanup all the stuff "./configure" generated? And is make uninstall, make clean, etc. 100%? I don't know the autotools in detail, I'm a beginner in using them. Any hints?   • Should I use concrete Inheritance or not?

    I have a project using Propel where I have three objects (potentially more in the future) Occasion Event extends Occasion Gig extends Occasion Occasion is an item that has the shared things, that will always be needed (Venue, start, end etc) With this - I want to be able to add in extra functionality, say for example, adding "Band" objects to the Gig object, or "Flyers" to an "Event" object. For this, I plan to create objects for these. However, without concrete inheritance, I have to have the foreign key point to the Occasion object - giving the (propel generated) functions for all of these extra bits to anything inherited from Occasion. I could, in theory do this without a foreign constraint, and add in functions to use the Peer or Query classes to get things related to the "Gig" or similar. Whereas with concrete inheritance, I would only have these functions in the things where they are. I think the decision here is whether I should Duck Type the objects (after all they are occasions) or whether I should just use the "Occasion" object as a "template" (only being used to search for things, like, all occasions at a venue) Thoughts? Comments?

  • HTML5 text wrap

    I am trying to add text on an image using the html5 canvas. First the image is drawn and on the image the text is drawn. So far so good. But where i am facing prob is that if the text is too long it gets cut off in the start and end by the canvas. I dont hav eplan to resize the canvas but I was wondering how to wrap the long text into multiple lines so that all of it gets displayed. Can anyone point me at the right direction?

  • Outputing UTF-8 string on Mac OS's Terminal

    I got a programm in haskell outputting utf-8 using the package utf8-string and using only the output functions of this package. I set the encoding of each file I write to this way : hSetEncoding myFile utf8 {- myFile may be stdout -} but when I try to output : alpha = [fromEnum 0x03B1] {- a -} instead of the nice alpha letter I got on Linux (or in a file on windows), I got the following : α The weird thing is even if I try to write the output on a file, I can't read it back with mvim as an utf-8 file. Is there any way to get the correct behaviour

    hi, I'm attempting to add two charts to a gwt page using the visualization api, but for some strange and inexplicable reason, eclipse claims that the following two imports are colliding - which makes no sense to me. In the methods where i am calling them, I have even tried using the fully qualified names, but that doesnt seem to help either.   • Overriding the default error message for a ModelForm

    Is there any way to override a error_message text for all the fields of a ModelForm's, without having to include all the field info in the ModelForm? For example, let's say I have a (very simple) model like this: People(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128, null=True, blank=True, help_text="Please type your name.") age = models.IntegerField(help_text="Please type your age.") I don't like the cut and dry default messages, such as, "Enter a whole number.", so I'd like to change them to something a bit nicer like "Please type a number." Ideally I'd be able to add an "error_message" property in the model, but the model does not support that property. So does that mean I have to basically duplicate all the model info in my ModelForm, or is there a way around that?

  • Improve my System, Need some advice/suggestion

    Processor: 2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5B-MX Memory: 2 Gb VideoCard: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT HDD: 80GB + 250GB both IDE Operating System: Windows 7 32bit Please give me some advice what to improve in my System. I mainly used it for Graphic Design (eg, Photoshop, Cinema4d, Illustrator, Flash). I was planning to increase my Memory adding 2 GB more, Pushing it to something like 4GB in total. But just found out that recently that I already have 2x2GB installed and should be 4GB in total. When I looked at the properties of my computer, It said "Installed Memory 2GB". I wonder why is that happening? Is the other ram broken?.. I never the computer casing since I bought. so I didn't realize that I already have 2 x 2gb ram. what can you advice. Thanks!
