  • How to transform huge xml files in java?

    - by fx42
As the title says it, I have a huge xml file (GBs) <root> <keep> <stuff> ... </stuff> <morestuff> ... </morestuff> </keep> <discard> <stuff> ... </stuff> <morestuff> ... </morestuff> </discard> </root> and I'd like to transform it into a much smaller one which retains only a few of the elements. My parser should do the following: 1. Parse through the file until a relevant element starts. 2. Copy the whole relevant element (with children) to the output file. go to 1. step 1 is easy with SAX and impossible for DOM-parsers. step 2 is annoying with SAX, but easy with the DOM-Parser or XSLT. so what? - is there a neat way to combine SAX and DOM-Parser to do the task?

  • Passing ViewData to PartialView returned from using Html.Action

    - by RWGodfrey
I want to embed a partial view in an ASP.NET MVC page by returning it from an action method. In my base view, I would have: <%= Html.Action("MyPartialViewAction") %> My controller would have an action method like: [ChildActionOnly] public ActionResult MyPartialViewAction() { return PartialView("MyPartialView"); } I expected the returned partial view (MyPartialView) to have access to the ViewData that was set in the base page's controller action but that doesn't appear to be the case. If I insert the partial view by using the following in my base view it works: <% Html.RenderPartial("MyPartialView") %> I don't want to do that though because I want my "MyPartialViewAction" to execute logic to determine WHICH partial view to return.

  • Make sure <a href="local file"> is opened outside of browser

    - by Heinzi
For an Intranet web application (document management), I want to show a list of files associated with a certain customer. The resulting HTML is like this: <a href="file:///server/share/dir/somefile.docx">somefile.docx</a> <a href="file:///server/share/dir/someotherfile.pdf">somefile.pdf</a> <a href="file:///server/share/dir/yetanotherfile.txt">yetanotherfile.txt</a> This works fine. Unfortunetly, when clicking on a text file (or image file), Internet Explorer (and I guess most other browsers as well) insist on showing it in the browser instead of opening the file with the associated application (e.g. Notepad). In our case, this is undesired behavior, since it does not allow the user to edit the file. Is there some workaround to this behavior (e.g. something like <a href="file:///..." open="external">)? I'm aware that this is a browser-specific thing, and an IE-only solution would be fine (it's an Intranet application after all).

  • UIView animation doesn't work first time

    - by BobC
Hello everybody, I have a seachButton in the navigation bar which upon hitting calls following method: - (IBAction)search:(id)sender { if (nil == searchViewController) searchViewController = [[SearchViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SearchViewController" bundle:nil]; searchViewController.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown forView:searchViewController.view cache:NO]; [self.view addSubview:searchViewController.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } It should load SearchViewController.xib which contains a view with UISearchBar and two buttons. When I call the search method for the first time, the view appears very quickly with some weird animation, when I call it again, the animation is alright. Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong?

  • Java: error handling with try-catch, empty-try-catch, dummy-return

    - by HH
A searh uses recursively defined function that easily throws exceptions. I have tried 3 ways to handle exeptions: to ignore with an empty-try-catch() add-dummy-return stop err-propagation due to exeption throw a specific except. (this part I don't really understand. If I throw except, can I force it to continue elsewhere, not continuing the old except-thrown-path?) Some exceptions I do not realy care like during execution removed files -exception (NullPointer) but some I really do like unknown things. Possible exceptions: // 1. if a temp-file or some other file removed during execution -> except. // 2. if no permiss. -> except. // 3. ? --> except. The code is Very import for the whole program. I earlier added clittered-checks, try-catches, avoided-empty-try-catches but it really blurred the logic. Some stoned result here would make the code later much easier to maintain. It was annoying to track random exeptions due to some random temp-file removal! How would you handle exceptions for the critical part? Code public class Find { private Stack<File> fs=new Stack<File>(); private Stack<File> ds=new Stack<File>(); public Stack<File> getD(){ return ds;} public Stack<File> getF(){ return fs;} public Find(String path) { // setting this type of special checks due to errs // propagation makes the code clittered if(path==null) { System.out.println("NULL in Find(path)"); System.exit(9); } this.walk(path); } private void walk( String path ) { File root = new File( path ); File[] list = root.listFiles(); //TODO: dangerous with empty try-catch?! try{ for ( File f : list ) { if ( f.isDirectory() ) { walk( f.getAbsolutePath() ); ds.push(f); } else { fs.push(f); } } }catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();} } } Code refactored from here.

  • TFS 2008 Web Access Report 100 record limitation

    - by HosamKamel
By default TFS 2008 Web Access has the limit of 100 record when you open any query in report mode. Even if you tried to export the query to excel or PDF you will only get first 100 record exported. To overcome this issue, you have to reconfigure this count in the web.config file Navigate to web access files C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Wiwa Open web.config modify maxWorkitemsInReportList count to whatever count you need. You need to do modify the same configuration in web.config located here C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Web  A full discussion thread exists here Team Foundation Server - Team System Web Access

  • How do I get to my IIS management console?

    - by Andrew Arnott
I just installed Windows 7 Enterprise along with some development tools. I didn't see IIS (the management console) anywhere in the start menu. I went to Turn Windows Features On or Off and saw that indeed IIS was present. Even http://localhost/ responded. I even turned all IIS features off (uninstalled them) and back on (rebooting each time). I still don't get IIS on my start menu. I also tried just launching MMC and adding the IIS snap-in, but that too, is absent. How can I manage the IIS on my box?

  • PDF has garbled text when copy pasting

    - by ngm
I'm trying to copy and paste text from a PDF file. However, whenever I paste the original text it is a huge mess of garbled characters. The text looks like the following (this is just one small extract): 4$/)5=$13! ,4&1*%-! )5'$! 1$2$)&,$40! 65))! .*5)1! -#$! )/'8*/8$03! I did a 'Save as text' in Adobe Reader and the resultant text file is the same garbled text. Any ideas how I can get this text out non-garbled? (Other than manual typing... there's a lot of text to extract.)

  • Location of truetype fonts

    - by StackedCrooked
I would like to create a small script that installs a few truetype fonts on the user's system. On my Ubuntu machine the truetype fonts are located at /usr/share/fonts/truetype. However, I'm not sure if this location is the same on all machines. Is there a way to find out where truetypes fonts are stored on any Linux system?

  • Send files to Automator in Snow Leopard

    - by Anriëtte Combrink
Hi there I remember in Tiger, you could always select a bunch of files in Finder and right click them, there was an option to open the selection in Automator. However, it seems that option has been lost somewhere between the Leopard and Snow Leopard upgrade. Or am I a bit blind? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

  • Poor CPU usage under Ubuntu

    - by remek
Hello, I just upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04 and I am now experiencing a strange problem. My computer has a quad-core processor, and when I am running several processes simultaneously, none of the cores is fully used. Before the upgrade, when I was running 4 processes, each of them was using 100% CPU (I could see that with the 'top' command). But now, CPU usage oscillates and is always pretty low. Has anybody an idea about this problem? Is it due to Ubuntu or to the program I am running? Thank you very much in advance for your help! Best, remek

  • Dell Dimension running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I am not am not a "handsome prince"!

    - by Jim Dobbs
Dell Dimension 2350 with a Pentium IV processor and integrated video and network chips running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I, apparently, am not am not a "handsome prince"! The system puts video and network to sleep and it will not wakeup. I have heard of this problem on laptops, but this is a tower. Any ideas or help is appreciated. I tried to ping the network card from another system and ping fails. The logs indicate that the system continues to be active. Pressing keyboard short-cut keys makes the disk light blink but neither the video or network card comes alive. Failing all else, are there any Linux commands that I could schedule in cron to pulse video and network adapters hourly that will keep them awake? Or, should I wait on Fedora13? Before this machine, I built a Dimension 2400 with Pentium IV and it had the same problem. Fedora9 on the same hardware is fine.

  • iTunes style layout using CSS

    - by Liam
What is the best way (using HTML/CSS) to create an iTunes-style layout with the following features: a left column with a fixed width but fluid height (scrollbars for overflow) (BLUE below) a main content column with fluid width and height (scrollbars for overflow) (RED below) a bottom right box with fixed width and height which remains stuck to the bottom of the browser? (GREEN below) Here is an example: I'm happy to use Javascript/JQuery if there really isn't a pure CSS solution. Thanks!

  • Instruments memory leak iphone

    - by dubbeat
Hi, I posted this problem a few days ago but it was very muddled and my question wasnt very clear so I removed it. I've been digging around and the memory leak is still persiting. Hopefully this attempt will be clearer. First off I've run the static analyzer and it reports no memory leaks. I then ran Instruments and it pointed to a memory leak at this line of code. As far as I can see there is no memory leak. featured=[[UILabel alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(130,15, 200, 15)]; //[featured setFont:[UIFont UIFontboldSystemFontOfSize:20]]; featured.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]; featured.backgroundColor= [UIColor clearColor]; featured.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; featured.text= @"Featured Promo"; [self.view addSubview:featured]; [featured release]; featured=nil; If I comment out the above code Instruments reports another memory leak in another block of code where there is no discernible leak. UIButton *populartbutton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]]; populartbutton.frame = CGRectMake(112, 145, 90, 22); // size and position of button [populartbutton setTitle:@"Popular" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; populartbutton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; populartbutton.adjustsImageWhenHighlighted = YES; [populartbutton addTarget:self action:@selector(getpopular:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:populartbutton]; Instruments also says Responsible Library = Core Graphics Responsible Frame = open_handle_to_dylib_path This Is the stack trace. 53 Promo start 52 Promo main /Users/..2/main.m:14 51 UIKit UIApplicationMain 50 UIKit -[UIApplication _run] 49 CoreFoundation CFRunLoopRunInMode 48 CoreFoundation CFRunLoopRunSpecific 47 GraphicsServices PurpleEventCallback 46 UIKit _UIApplicationHandleEvent 45 UIKit -[UIApplication sendEvent:] 44 UIKit -[UIApplication handleEvent:withNewEvent:] 43 UIKit -[UIApplication _reportAppLaunchFinished] 42 QuartzCore CA::Transaction::commit() 41 QuartzCore CA::Context::commit_transaction(CA::Transaction*) 40 QuartzCore CALayerLayoutIfNeeded 39 QuartzCore -[CALayer layoutSublayers] 38 UIKit -[UILayoutContainerView layoutSubviews] 37 UIKit -[UINavigationController _startDeferredTransitionIfNeeded] 36 UIKit -[UINavigationController _startTransition:fromViewController:toViewController:] 35 UIKit -[UINavigationController _layoutViewController:] 34 UIKit -[UINavigationController_computeAndApplyScrollContentInsetDeltaForViewController:] 33 UIKit -[UIViewController contentScrollView] 32 UIKit -[UIViewController view] 31 Promo -[FeaturedLevelViewController viewDidLoad] /Users/..s/FeaturedLevelViewController.m:67 // THIS IS MY CLASS WHERE THE CODE SAMPLES ABOVE ARE FROM 30 UIKit -[UILabel initWithFrame:] 29 UIKit -[UILabel _commonInit] 28 UIKit +[UILabel defaultFont] 27 UIKit +[UIFont systemFontOfSize:] 26 GraphicsServices GSFontCreateWithName 25 CoreGraphics CGFontCreateWithName 24 CoreGraphics CGFontCreateWithFontName 23 CoreGraphics CGFontFinderGetDefault 22 CoreGraphics CGFontGetVTable 21 libSystem.B.dylib pthread_once 20 CoreGraphics load_vtable 19 CoreGraphics load_library 18 CoreGraphics CGLibraryLoadFunction 17 CoreGraphics load_function 16 CoreGraphics open_handle_to_dylib_path 15 libSystem.B.dylib dlopen 14 dyld dlopen 13 dyld dyld::link(ImageLoader*, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 12 dyld ImageLoader::link(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&, bool, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 11 dyld ImageLoader::recursiveLoadLibraries(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) 10 dyld dyld::libraryLocator(char const*, bool, char const*, ImageLoader::RPathChain const*) 9 dyld dyld::load(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&) 8 dyld dyld::loadPhase0(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 7 dyld dyld::loadPhase1(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 6 dyld dyld::loadPhase3(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 5 dyld dyld::loadPhase4(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 4 dyld dyld::loadPhase5(char const*, dyld::LoadContext const&, std::vector<char const*, std::allocator<char const*> >*) 3 dyld dyld::mkstringf(char const*, ...) 2 dyld strdup 1 dyld malloc 0 libSystem.B.dylib malloc I'm really not too sure how to use this information to fix the problem so any guidance would be appreciated. • How to disable MSBuild's <RegisterOutput> target on a per-user basis?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
I like to do my development as a normal (non-Admin) user. Our VS2010 project build fails with "Failed to register output. Please try enabling Per-user Redirection or register the component from a command prompt with elevated permissions." Since I'm not at liberty to change the project file, is there any way that I can add user-specific MSBuild targets or properties that disable this step on a specific machine, or for a specific user? I'd prefer not to hack on the core MSBuild files. I don't want to change the project file because I might then accidentally check it back in. Nor do I want to hack on the MSBuild core files, because they might get overwritten by a service pack. Given that the Visual C++ project files (and associated .targets and .props files) have about a million places to alter the build order and to import arbitrary files, I was hoping for something along those lines. MSBuild imports/evaluates the project file as follows (I've only looked down the branches that interest me): Foo.vcxproj Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props Microsoft.Cpp.props $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props Microsoft.Cpp.targets Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).targets ImportBefore\* Microsoft.CppCommon.targets The "RegisterOutput" target is defined in Microsoft.CppCommon.targets. I was hoping to replace this by putting a do-nothing "RegisterOutput" target in $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props, which is %LOCALAPPDATA%\MSBuild\v4.0\Microsoft.Cpp.Win32.user.props (UserRootDir is set in Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props if it's not already set). Unfortunately, MSBuild uses the last-defined target, which means that mine gets overridden by the built-in one. Alternatively, I could attempt to set the %(Link.RegisterOutput) metadata, but I'd have to do that on all Link items. Any idea how to do that, or even if it'll work?

  • a reusable query with modifications?

    - by fusion
    i'm using this mysql query alongwith php to search for multiple keywords: $query = "SELECT cQuotes, vAuthor, cArabic, vReference FROM ".$table." WHERE ("; $countFields = count($arrayFields); while ($a < $countFields) { while ($b < $countSearch) { $query = $query."$arrayFields[$a] LIKE '%$arraySearch[$b]%'"; $b++; if ($b < $countSearch) { $query = $query." AND "; } } $b = 0; $a++; if ($a < $countFields) { $query = $query.") OR ("; } } $query = $query.")"; $result = mysql_query($query, $conn) i'd like to reuse this query with a few modifications to it (for instance, the WHERE clause remains the same, while i query the number of rows using COUNT), but it doesn't seem practical to repeat the code again for a few additions. any suggestions?
