  • two classes contain objects of each other

    - by Julz
    hi, i hope there's a simple answer to this. without getting too complicated i have two classes. an "Animal" and a "Cell" Cell contains an Animal as a member. Animal has methods that accept Cells in their parameters. i'm just confused as to how i #include each class the others header? i've only ever had to go up a chain of classes and just included the last class header in the next and so on, but this circular situation has me a bit lost. i hope that makes sense, any help greatly appreciated.

  • form_form and custom parameter in path_prefix

    - by fguillen
    Hi people, I have this route: # config/routes.rb map.namespace :backshop, :path_prefix => '/:shop_id/admin' do |backshop| backshop.resources :items end And I want to use the form_for magic to reuse the same form on both: new and edit views: <% form_for [:backshop, @item] do |f| %> This used to works, and used to build a create url for the item or update url for the item depending on the status of the @item object. But this is not working on this case because the routes don't exists without the shop_id parameter, and I don't know how to say to the form_for something like this: <% form_for [:backshop, @item], :shop_id => @shop do |f| %> Because it tries to use the @item like the :shop_id parameter. Or like this <% form_for [:backshop, @shop, @item] do |f| %> Because it tries to build this url: backshop_shop_order_path I Know I can just to extract the form_for declaration from the partial and do different calls on depending if new or edit: <% form_for( @item, :url => backshop_items_path( @shop ) ) do |f| %> and <% form_for( @item, :url => backshop_item_path( @shop, @item ) ) do |f| %> But I just wanted don't do this because I have a bunch of models and is a few boring :) Thanks for any suggestion f.

  • Where to place logic in a rich domain model

    - by Fino
    I have a model "news item" which contains text, image etc to display as latest news on several pages in a website. This "news item" can also be posted to Twitter or Facebook. Is it clean to implement a method post inside the news item model and inject the different post implementations as a strategy? Or is it better to have a separate application service for this? Thanks

  • In DBD::CSV what does a /r in the f_ext attribute mean?

    - by sid_com
    Why does only the second example append the extension to the filename and what is the "/r" in ".csv/r" for. #!/usr/bin/env perl use warnings; use strict; use 5.012; use DBI; my $dbh = DBI->connect( "DBI:CSV:f_dir=/home/mm", { RaiseError => 1, f_ext => ".csv/r"} ); my $table = 'new_1'; $dbh->do( "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $table" ); $dbh->do( "CREATE TABLE $table ( id INT, name CHAR, city CHAR )" ); my $sth_new = $dbh->prepare( "INSERT INTO $table( id, name, city ) VALUES ( ?, ?, ?, )" ); $sth_new->execute( 1, 'Smith', 'Greenville' ); $dbh->disconnect(); # -------------------------------------------------------- $dbh = DBI->connect( "DBI:CSV:f_dir=/home/mm", { RaiseError => 1 } ); $dbh->{f_ext} = ".csv/r"; $table = 'new_2'; $dbh->do( "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $table" ); $dbh->do( "CREATE TABLE $table ( id INT, name CHAR, city CHAR )" ); $sth_new = $dbh->prepare( "INSERT INTO $table( id, name, city ) VALUES ( ?, ?, ?, )" ); $sth_new->execute( 1, 'Smith', 'Greenville' ); $dbh->disconnect();

  • Libqxt under Qt Creator

    - by I'm Dario
    I want to create a tiny app which needs global shortcuts. So, I have downloaded the current version of libqxt (0.5.1) and opened as a project in Qt Creator. Libqxt compiles without problems in this way, so I thought that adding this in the tab Dependencies of my project it would get added automatically in the build, like Eclipse does with JAR libraries (I know that are different IDEs but it seems to be a common feature among them). What happens? Qt Creator compiles qxt before my project, when needed, but when I want to include its headers Qt Creator keeps warning me that it cannot find them. Probably I am missing the correct name of headers (I tried the headers showed in qxt documentation: http://doc.libqxt.org/0.5.0/classQxtGlobalShortcut.html) By the way, I looked the code for global shortcuts and I think I can rip it out and use it in my app as is and I am going to credit qxt team and open the code of my app.

  • View artifacts leaking into the model of MVC

    - by Jono
    In an ASP.NET MVC application (which has very little chance of having its view technology ported to something non-HTML, but whose functional requirements evolve weekly,) how much HTML should ideally be allowed to be directly represented in the Model? I might come across as a design bigot for this, but I regard it as bad practice to allow any view constructs to "leak" into the model in an MVC application (and vice versa). For example, a Model that represents an item you're about to purchase should know nothing about the HTML check box that says "add giftwrap/message", nor should it know about any HTML drop down lists for payment card types. Conversely the View shouldn't be doing work like figuring out button text by translating keys into values (by looking in resource files.)

  • About using assembly with c

    - by kristus
    Hi. I've sort of just finished a mandatory task at school, and I'm about to deliver it. But then I came across something that was unfamiliar, header files. :( What I've got: test-program.c task_header.h function1.s function2.s function3.s function4.s test-program.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include "task_header.h" . .. ... task_header.h: extern void function1(...); extern void function2(...); extern int function3(...); extern void function4(...); And then I use the command: gcc -m32 -o runtest test-program.c function1.s function2.s function3.s function4.s Is this a proper way to do it, or is it possible to modify it? So I can type: gcc -m32 -o runtest test-program.c ?

  • What's the best Linux backup solution?

    - by Jon Bright
    We have a four Linux boxes (all running Debian or Ubuntu) on our office network. None of these boxes are especially critical and they're all using RAID. To date, I've therefore been doing backups of the boxes by having a cron job upload tarballs containing the contents of /etc, MySQL dumps and other such changing, non-packaged data to a box at our geographically separate hosting centre. I've realised, however that the tarballs are sufficient to rebuild from, but it's certainly not a painless process to do so (I recently tried this out as part of a hardware upgrade of one of the boxes) long-term, the process isn't sustainable. Each of the boxes is currently producing a tarball of a couple of hundred MB each day, 99% of which is the same as the previous day partly due to the size issue, the backup process requires more manual intervention than I want (to find whatever 5GB file is inflating the size of the tarball and kill it) again due to the size issue, I'm leaving stuff out which it would be nice to include - the contents of users' home directories, for example. There's almost nothing of value there that isn't in source control (and these aren't our main dev boxes), but it would be nice to keep them anyway. there must be a better way So, my question is, how should I be doing this properly? The requirements are: needs to be an offsite backup (one of the main things I'm doing here is protecting against fire/whatever) should require as little manual intervention as possible (I'm lazy, and box-herding isn't my main job) should continue to scale with a couple more boxes, slightly more data, etc. preferably free/open source (cost isn't the issue, but especially for backups, openness seems like a good thing) an option to produce some kind of DVD/Blu-Ray/whatever backup from time to time wouldn't be bad My first thought was that this kind of incremental backup was what tar was created for - create a tar file once each month, add incrementally to it. rsync results to remote box. But others probably have better suggestions.

  • Unable to send Url in a Form field

    - by araja
    I am facing a problem while submitting a simple HTML form. Here is the form: <form name="form1" method="post" action="dest.php"> <input type="hidden" name="my_url" value="http://www.livrotek.com/book_image/thumb/12726851341.jpg" /> </form> When I submit this form, I get an apache error: You don't have permission to access dest.php on this server. If I change the value of "my_url" field to any value other than a URL, then it works fine.

  • Why does my javascript file sometimes compressed while sometimes not?(IIS Gzip problem)

    - by Kevin Yang
    i enable gzip for javascript file in my iis settings, here 's the corresponding config section. <httpCompression directory="%SystemDrive%\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files"> <scheme name="gzip" dll="%Windir%\system32\inetsrv\gzip.dll" staticCompressionLevel="10" dynamicCompressionLevel="8" /> <dynamicTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/soap+msbin1" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false" /> </dynamicTypes> <staticTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="*/*" enabled="false" /> </staticTypes> </httpCompression> currently, when i download my js file, it seems that sometimes server return the gzip one, and sometimes not. i dont know why, and how to debug that. If a file is already gzipped, it should be cached in local disk, and next time someone visit that file again, iis kernel should return the cache gzip file directly without compressing it again. Is that right?

    - by FreshCode
    When calling Html.EditorFor(m => m), where m is a public class with public properties, a hidden input and a label are displayed for properties with the [HiddenInput] attribute. How can I hide the label without making it private or creating an editor template? Example public class User { [HiddenInput] public Guid ID { get; set; } // should not be displayed in editor template public string Name { get; set; } // should be editable } Undesired result for ID property by EditorFor(...) with label <div class="editor-label"> <label for="ID">ID</label> <!-- Why is this here? --> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <input id="ID" name="ID" type="hidden" value=""> </div>
