  • Has anyone experienced "Screen Painting" issues with RealVNC?

    I've just setup remote access to a Windows XP box using RealVNC. When the user runs an app, they expierence issues with "screen painting" - the screen doesn't paint well, except for a radius around the mouse cursor. The app is displaying a calendar. I am not sure what it is written in (think it is a .NET app) Have no problems getting/staying connected. Initially it seemed to be working fine. I have looked through all of the settings as far as compression and speed. I can replicate the issue from more than 1 location. The hosting Internet connection is DSL.

  • Internet connection fails in Ubuntu on VirtualBox when virtual machine is created from "Import appli

    I have installed Ubuntu Server 9.10 in a virtual machine in VirtualBox, then I made a cope/clone and exported it with "Export appliance" so I can create many cloned virtual machines. But when I try to import an appliance, everthing seams to be fine with the Ubuntu except that it can't connect to Internet and doesn't get an IP-address. The machine is used in Bridged mode. And it doesn't help to change to NAT-mode either. The machine that I cloned seams to work fine, and get an IP address. How to fix this? Where am I doing wrong?

  • Excel - Possible to create a sorted view of a column in one sheet on another sheet?

    Hi; I'm trying, in Excel 2007, to populate a column in one sheet with the data contained in a column on another sheet, so that I may provide another sorting on the data, related to that sheet only. I've tried to boil it down to being able to have a column on sheet2 automatically being populated with all rows from a column in sheet1, but I can't seem to do so. Any suggestions? It's an IFD deployment and everytime that I connect using the Microsoft provided plugin registration tool I get the following error message.     I have a dll installed in GAC. I have not issues reading that assembly from asp.net applications the assembly reference i have done in web.config is able to refer to that assembly. But in the console application, when i put the below in the app.config file, the solution gets compiled, but i am not able to access the dll from program.cs file. Below is my app.config to refer to the dll in GAC. Please point to me what i am doing wrong.

  • How to make sure a method returns an array, even when there is only one element in Ruby

    I have a Ruby method that searches an array of hashes and returns a subset of that array. def last_actions(type = 'all') actions = @actions if type == 'run' actions = actions.select {|a| a['type'] == "run" } end return actions end This works, except when there is only one action to return, in which case I don't think it is returning an array with one element, but just the element itself. This becomes problematic later. What's a good way to ensure it returns an array of 1 element in this case? Thanks.

  • LoadViewState not fired on my user control

    I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

  • Why does a simple ApplicationSetting PropertyBinding for a Form does not work in C#?

    My question involves this simple walkthrough shown in the article Preserve Size and Location of Windows Forms – Part I by Dennis Wallentin. This approach works 100% fine when using VB.NET. When using the same steps in C#, however, the settings within the Settings tab of the application's properties looks correct, and the app.config file looks right, but the values are not saved when you run it. But since Silverlight does not have SetInitialShowDelay, what is a workaround to make the tooltip appear immediately?

  • Write set of integers to std::ofstream and be able to read them back

    Hello, I need to write a bunch of unsigned integers to std::ofstream in binary mode: std::ofstream f; f.open("some path", std::ios::out | std::ios::binary); // some loop { unsigned int k = get_k(); // may product numbers from 0 to 65535 f << k; } f.close(); They are written to the output file "as is" w/o any delimiter. So when I'm trying to read them back (expecting to get what I wrote) using std::ifstream I get very strange values. What I'm doing wrong? Or I should to put ' ' (space) to the stream after any added number to separate them? Thanks.

  • Tools for viewing logs of unlimited size

    It's no secret that application logs can go well beyond the limits of naive log viewers, and the desired viewer functionality (say, filtering the log based on a condition, or highlighting particular message types, or splitting it into sublogs based on a field value, or merging several logs based on a time axis, or bookmarking etc.) is beyond the abilities of large-file text viewers. I wonder: Whether decent specialized applications exist (I haven't found any) What functionality might one expect from such an application? (I'm asking because my student is writing such an application, and the functionality above has already been implemented to a certain extent of usability)
