  • Sharing assemblies between .Net 4 and Silverlight 4

    At the last PDC (can't remember which talk it was) they gave us the information that it will be possible to share assemblies between regular .Net 4 and Silverlight 4. Unfortunately I can't find anything on this. Was this feature dropped? What options/limitations are there? (There are similar questions on SO but they don't say if they apply to SL3 or 4.)

  • Which of these queries is preferable?

    I've written the same query as a subquery and a self-join. Is there any obvious argument for one over the other here?   • Facebook app invite from inside the app

    Hi, i want to make a facebook flash app. Now im trying to make it possible to invite your friends to the app. I want to do this from within actionscript without the user having to leave the app. The ideal solution would be to make a custom interface show possible invites and then doing some URL request containing the friends id's Anyone have any idea how to solve this or if its even possible ?

  • Math Problem With Percentages

    i'm terrible at math. trust me, you math experts will see why after reading my question. i have an object that is 300px in height. i need to calculate the percentage of that height where 90% = 300px (or the full height), 45% = 150px, 0% = 0px. so essentially, if i ask for 45% of the object's height, it will return 150px, or if i ask for 32% of the object's height, it will return __? i believe this is really basic math, so i apologize in advance.

  • App.Config Transformation for Visual Studio 2010?

    For Visual Studio 2010 Web based application we have Config Transformation features by which we can maintain multiple configuration files for different environments. But the same feature is not available for App.Config files for Windows Services/WinForms or Console Application. There is a workaround available as suggested on the following link. http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2010/05/applying-xdt-magic-to-appconfig.html However it is not straightforward and requires no of steps. Is there an easier way to achieve the same for App.Config files?

  • visual studio 2008 vs 2010 Pro unmanaged code

    Hi, I'm a C++ programmer, I use Visual Studio 2008 Professional, only unmanaged code. I'm thinking of buying VS 2010 Pro. I'm confused, I don't know what are differences between those two. I know that, in plus, it has tr1 included. When I started using 2008 edition I was very pleased to see f.e. unit testing support but all new features are only for managed code. The C++ debugger in 2008 is very good, better than 2003 edition one. I would't like to buy a new tool and discover that I gained nothing and lost some functionality ( because f.e. something was moved to higher version). Once upon a time I switched from very good VS6 to VS 2003.Net and imagine what, after some time I discovered that Pro has no support for code optimalization. It is wonderful how Microsoft makes money. I wouldn't like to experience something like that again. What do you think, what can you recommended?

  • MKMapKit custom annotations being added to map, but are not visible on the map

    I learned a lot from the screencast at http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/ , and ive been trying to incorporate the way he creates a custom annotation into my iphone app. He is hardcoding annotations and adding them individually to the map, whereas i want to add them from my data source. So i have an array of objects with a lat and a lng (ive checked that the values are within range and ought to be appearing on the map) that i iterate through and do [mapView addAnnotation:truck] once this process is completed, i check the number of annotations on the map with [[mapView annotations] count] and its equal to the number it ought to be, so all the annotations are getting added onto the mapView, but for some reason I cant see any annotations in the simulator. I've compared my code with his in all the pertinent places many times, but nothing seems to stand out as being incorrect. Ive also reviewed my code for the last several hours trying to find a point where I do something wrong, but nothing is coming to mind. The images are named just as they are assigned in the custom AnnotationView, the loadAnnotation function is done properly, etc... i dont know what it could be. so i suppose if i could have the answer to one question it would be, what are possible causes for a mapView to contain several annotations, but to not show any on the map? Is there a way to combine both kind of labels?

    Hello, i have the following mysql table: myTable: id int auto_increment voucher int not null id_user int null I've populated voucher field with values from 1 to 100000 so i've got 100000 records; when a user clicks a button in a PHP page, i need to allocate a record for the user so i make something similar like: update myTable set id_user=XXX where voucher=(SELECT * FROM (SELECT MIN(voucher) FROM myTable WHERE id_user is null) v); The problem is that I don't use locks and i should use them because if two users click in the same moment i risk to assign the same voucher to different persons (2 updates in the same record so i lose 1 user) ... I think there must be a correct way to do this, can you help me please? Thanks ! cris

A basic problem is to keep the number of iterations low (i.e. at 1), but that affects readability. After all, the best I could find was something along the lines of this: IEnumerable<Foo> list; Foo max = list.Aggregate ((l, r) => l.value > r.value ? l : r); Can you think of a more better way?

I'd need something like what is done for updating softwares like Firefox or Acrobat Reader. Check a respository, warn user of an update, download and reconfigure.   • When is a domain computer account scheduled to change the password?

    I understand domain-joined computers have machine accounts in AD and these accounts have passwords that expire (apparently every 30 days by default) and those passwords are automatically changed without user intervention. Given that this is known to cause issues when restoring snapshots of domain-joined virtual machines, is it possible to query the domain-joined computer or AD to determine when the machine account password is next scheduled to be changed?

  • Nginx Static Content Server Maxing Out?

    I use nginx to serve the static content for a decently busy website of mine. I have the logging disabled, and 4 worker processes enabled with 5,000 connections per worker (which should yield a max connection limit of 20,000. The server is only operating at about 10% CPU usage and 50% ram, but it's very laggy, and sometimes nginx is so slow to respond to the requests, it times out. For a small number of connections, it's fine, but once any load starts occurring (~2,500 connections), it backs up and bogs down. Is there any other bottlenecks or limits that I might be hitting? This is a FreeBSD server, and all the static files are located locally (not NFS). The NIC is an unmetered gigabit, and it's only using around 75 megabit. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Is there a limit on CNAME records for subdomains?

    I've bought a domain, say mydomain.com. I'd like to set up google apps to work with it. As such, I'd like to create subdomains like mail.mydomain.com, docs.mydomain.com, etc. To integrate it with google, I must add to all of them CNAME records to ghs.google.com. However my domain registrar says that they can create only one CNAME in my domain, for which they chose mail.mydomain.com. The rest of them, they say, I must create as A type records. Are they being lazy, or is there some limitation here that I'm not aware of?

  • Remapping characters in xmodmap

    I am using a Swedish keyboard, and I want to be able to type braces easier. I planned to map AltGr + å to '}' and AltGr + ä to '{'. However, nothing really changes. I have some other stuff in my .Xmodmap so I know that it gets loaded allright. Here's what I have so far: keycode 35 = slash asciitilde dead_ogonek section dead_ogonek section keycode 49 = asciicircum onehalf keycode 66 = F10 clear Lock keycode 34 = aring Aring braceleft keycode 48 = adiaeresis Adiaeresis braceright where the 2 last lines are the one that should be related to this. What could I be doing wrong?
