  • Find directories that DON'T contain a file

    Yes, I'm sorting out my music. I've got everything arranged beautifully in the following mantra: /Artist/Album/Track - Artist - Title.ext and if one exists, the cover sits in /Artist/Album/cover.(jpg|png). I want to scan through all the second-level directories and find the ones that don't have a cover. By second level, I mean I don't care if /Britney Spears/ doesn't have a cover.jpg, but I would care if /Britney Spears/In The Zone/ didn't have one. Don't worry about the cover-downloading (that's a fun project for me tomorrow) I only care about the glorious bash-fuiness about an inverse-ish find example.

  • Color distortion with Intel HD4000 over HDMI output - VGA is fine

    I set up a new system with i5 3570k gigabyte z77 d3h using integrated graphics (HD4000) and I've installed the 64bit Desktop version of 12.04. Connected to my Acer Screen via HDMI, the colors are horribly distorted. I think the biggest issue is that black appears as greenish. Over VGA everything is fine. Interestingly, I once observed that connecting both, the VGA and the HDMI cable at the same time, solved the issue. Ubuntu thought 2 screens were connected, I mirrored the image, and over HDMI the colors looked fine. However, after a reboot I am now unable to reproduce this behavior. I read frequently, that Intel hardware should be supported out of the box by Ubuntu but it doesn't seem to be the case here. Should I upgrade my Kernel? If so, which version would you recommend?   • Installing Age of Empires II using PlayOnLinux doesn't work?

    I have tried installing age of empires 2 using PlayOnLinux, the installation appeared to go fine but when I try and open the game it says there is a serious fault.   • How to override the new limited keyboard repeat rate limit?

    I may be an alien around here, but here's my problem: the speed limit on old Ubuntu releases (= before 11) was very very fast. It was really great for me. Now, on Ubuntu 11, they may have thought: "who will ever want that speed? Nobody! So let's put the maximum speed to a lower limit". It's so stupid that they tried to narrow down the speed to some other famous OS. If Linux is more powerful, why remove some of its power? I don't get that. So is there any way to override that speed limit and get my keyboard as fast as it is on other previous versions?

  • Ubuntu 12.04 Freezes after removing the HDMI cable or changing settings

    I'm using an fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 and I'm having some problems with HDMI. I usually use it with my TV, but since the update isn't working any more. Sometimes in 11.10 I had to execute a script to get the video and sound to work in HDMI, but it was OK. Since the update, when I connect the HDMI cable, it works, but if I make any change in the display settings (like resolution, monitor position, etc,) it freezes. And if I don't change anything, it's working in both monitors, but when I remove the cable, it freezes and even the ctrl+alt+f2 shortcut works. Any ideas for fixing this? I Googled and only found many people having problems, usually with sound.

  • How to backup a dev & QA folder website structure?

    A site I just became in charge of uses a really simple two folder structure to host the dev site and the QA site. The sites are hosted on the company servers so I just have the sites' folders mapped on my desktop. I would like to run some kind of backup scheme, but I am finding it hard to think of a way to do this effectively. The problem is that we aren't using any revision control software, and since the servers aren't controlled by me, I don't think I will be able to implement anything like that. Or could I? The entire site is static too, so no DB's or anything besides html, images, PDFs, etc.

    We use Google Apps for business for email, docs etc. For one account [email protected] I setup a Google+ profile but didn't realise it would change the name of the email account Was: From email name: "Sydney Branch" Email address: [email protected] Now: From email name: "John Smith" Email address: [email protected] I'd like to change it back. The name hasn't changed though in the Google Apps domain management email section though, so i don't know what's going on and don't want to lose that email address/account through suspension. I couldn't care less about losing Google+, i'm happy to remove that profile, but would it revert the name?

  • How to handle URLs with diacritic characters

    I am wondering how to handle URLs which correspond to strings containing diacritic (á, u, ´...). I believe what we're seeing mostly are URLs where diacritic characters where converted to their closest ASCII equivalent, for instance Rånades på Skyttis i Ö-vik converted to ranades-pa-skyttis-i-o-vik. However depending on the corresponding language, such conversion might be incorrect. For instance in German, ü should be converted to ue and not just u, as seen with the below URL representing the Bayern München string as bayern-muenchen: http://www.bundesliga.de/en/liga/clubs/fc-bayern-muenchen/index.php However what I've also noticed, is that browsers can render non-ASCII characters when they are percent-encoded in the URL, which is the approach Wikipedia has chosen, for instance http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Bayern_M%C3%BCnchen which is rendered as: Therefore I'm considering the following approach for creating URL slugs: -(1) convert strings while replacing non-ASCII characters to their recommended ASCII representation: Bayern München - bayern-muenchen -(2) also convert strings to percent encoding: Bayern München - bayern_m%C3%BCnchen -create a 301 redirect from version (1) to version (2) Version (1) URLs could be used for marketing purposes (e.g. mywebsite.com/bayern-muenchen) but the URLs that would end being displayed in the browser bar would be version (2) URLs (e.g. mywebsite.com/bayern-münchen). Can you foresee particular problems with this approach? (Wikipedia is not doing it and I wonder why, apart from the fact that they don't need to market their URLs)

  • Camera wont stay behind model after pitch, then rotation

    I have a camera position behind a model. Currently, if I push the left thumbstick making my model move forward, backward, or strafe, the camera stays with the model. If I push the right thumbstick left or right, the model rotates in those directions fine along with the camera rotating while maintaining its position relatively behind the model. But when I pitch the model up or down, then rotate the model afterwards, the camera moves slightly rotates in a clock-like fashion behind the model. If I do a few rotations of the model and try to pitch the camera, the camera will eventually be looking at the side, then eventually the front of the model while also rotating in a clock-like fashion. My question is, how do I keep the camera to pitch up and down behind the model no matter how much the model has rotated?     I wish to add the ability to zoom-in, zoom-out, rotate and move the view in a top-down view over a collection of points and lines in a large 2d map. I split the map into a grid so I only need to render the points that are 'near' the camera. My question is, how do I render a point A(Xp,Yp) assuming the following details: Offset of the camera pov from the origin of the map is: Xc, Yc Meaning the camera center is positioned on top of that point. If there's a point in Xc, Yc it is positioned in the center of the screen. The rotation angle is: alpha The scale is: S Read my answer first. I am thinking there is more optimized solution, thanks. My question is how to include the following improvement: I read in the AS3 Bible book that: In regards to ShaderInput, You can use these methods to coerce Pixel Bender to crunch huge sets of data masquerading as images, without doing too much work on the ActionScript side to make them look like images. Meaning if I am performing the same linear function on a lot of items, I can do it all at once if I use Shaders correctly and save processing time. Does anyone know how that is accomplished?   • Really weird GL Behaviour, uniform not "hitting" proper mesh? LibGdx

    Ok, I got some code, and you select blocks on a grid. The selection works. I can modify the blocks to be raised when selected and the correct one shows. I set a color which I use in the shader. However, I am trying to change the color before rendering the geometry, and the last rendered geometry (in the sequence) is rendered light. However, to debug logic I decided to move the block up and make it white, in which case one block moves up and another block becomes white. I checked all my logic and it knows the correct one is selected and it is showing in, in the correct place and rendering it correctly. When there is only 1 it works properly.   • How to design 2D collision callback methods?

    In a 2D game where you have a lot of possible combination of collision between objects, such as: object A vs object B = object B vs A; object A vs object C = object C vs A; object A vs object D = object D vs A; and so on ... Do we need to create callback methods for all single type of collision? and do we need to create the same method twice? Like, say a bullet hits a wall, now I need a method to penetrate the wall for the wall, and a method to destroy the bullet for the bullet!! At the same time, a bullet can hit many objects in the game, and hence, more different callback methods!!! Is there a design pattern for that?

  • java oracle cusor is closed where cursor is not return to jdbc

    I am executing a stored procedure which has 2 cusors within the stored procedure. The 1st cursor which is not return to the jdbc as a resultset is closed within the stored procedure. The 2nd cursor which returns the resultset to the jdbc is not closed within the stored procedure. Upon executing I encounter cursor is closed exception which is puzzling. Since the ResultSet will close all underlying cursor upon invoking the close() method

  • including library and dll into c++ project

    i have a third party library (say tp.lib) and the third party dll (say tp.dll) which i need to use in my C++ project (my project is a dll project, lets call it my.dll). i have include the library with the #pragma comment(lib, "libraryname") in the header file and also included the path of the library file in the configurationproperties-linker-additional library directories in my c++ visual studio project. the code compiles okay. but fails to execute. when i use depends to check if i am missing someting i observe that the tp.dll is missing from my.dll. the tp.dll resides in the same library folder where the tp.lib resides. my quesiton is what should i do so that tp.dll get included to my.dll thanks in advance

    I'm using act_as_taggable_on and Active Admin on a Rails project. In that project there are Posts and each Post has Tags. I want to show a list of Tags in Active Admin and the number of ocurrences of each one. The way I found to do this was: index do column :name column :ocurrences do |tag| ocurrences = Post.tag_counts.find(tag.id).count end default_actions end Which will search the Tag List every time for every Post, which performance wise looks really bad. I would also like to be able to sort the tags by ocurrence. Any idea of how I can do it?

  • Using Color.rgb() doesnt work for full 0...255 range

    I'm writing an android game using opengl. I'm using: colour = Color.rgb(theR,theG,theB); (all ints) to store the color of a rectangle. Then I parse out the RGB to render the rectangle: colorR = Color.red(color); colorG = Color.green(color); colorB = Color.blue(color); For example for color 53,130,255 this should result in a blue but on my app it results in a white. If i use 1,1,1 i get white. If i use 0,0,0 i get black. If i use 0,1,0 I get green etc. So it looks like any value over one is treated as 1 and so i am not getting the full 0...255 range. I tried using Color.argb and color = Color.parseColor(theColor) where the Color is a string. I'm using this in an opengles app. I have a class to display a rectangle of color. This definitely works fine as the correct size rectangle is rendered, just not a color using values above 1. I also use textures and everything displays fine. any ideas? thanks a million

However in my database, I have the [email protected] correctly saved. When I retrieve my user in the database, I use sefl::$em. If I use the $em in comments, I retrieve the right new email.   • @media queries - one rule overrides another?

    I have multiple @media queries all working fine but as soon as i put in a higher max screen-width than 1024px the rules for the higher width gets applied to everything. @media screen and (max-width: 1400px) { #wrap { width: 72%; } } @media screen and (max-width: 1024px) { #slider h2 { width: 100%; } #slider img { margin: 60px 0.83333333333333% 0 2.08333333333333%; } .recent { width: 45.82%; margin: 10px 2.08333333333334% 0 1.875%; } } as you can see 1024px (and also the 800px max-width query) do not change the #wrap width and work fine. As soon as i add the 1400px max-width query it changes them to 72% for ALL sizes and does the same for any element - for instance if i set #slider img to have a margin of 40px it will show at ALL sizes even though it is only in the max-width of 1400px. Am i missing something really obvious? Been trying to work this out for the past 2 days! Thanks, John

  • How to deal with constructor argument names?

    Say I have a class that has some properties, like x, y, width and height. In its constructor, I couldn't do this: class A { public: A(int, int, int, int); int x; int y; int width; int height; }; //Wrong and makes little sense name-wise: A::A(int x, int y, int width, int height) { x = x; y = y; width = width; height = height; } First of all, this doesn't really make sense. Second, x, y, width and height become some weird values (-1405737648) when compiled using g++. It does work, however, if I append "a" to the argument names. What is the optimal way of solving these naming conflicts?

  • Get the names of IDs from different table

    I have an array with a lot of data from a database. In the array, there are two fields called teameinsid and teamzweiid. The query is a very simple one : $spiel = mysql_query("select teameinsid, teamzweiid from begegnung", $connection) or die("Keine passende Begegnung"); What I need is to search in the database for the names of these IDs. The names are in a different table. What I have now is the following: while($tmp = mysql_fetch_array($spiel)){ $teins = $tmp['teameinsid']; $tzwei = $tmp['teamzweiid']; } So I know the two IDs, but I don't know where to save the names. If I try: $name = mysql_query("select name from team where teameinsid = $teins", $con) it gets overwritten every time. How can I manage this?
