• Remote EJB lookup issue with WebSphere 6.1

  I've seen this question asked before, but I've tried various solutions proposed, to no avail. Essentially, I have two EJB enterprise applications, that need to communicate with one another. The first is a web application, the second is a search server - they are located on different development servers, not in the same node, cell, or JVM, although they are on the same physical box. I'm doing the JNDI lookup via IIOP, and the URL I am using is as follows: iiop://searchserver:2819 In my hosts file, I've set searchserver to 127.0.0.1. The ports for my search server are bound to this hostname too. However, when the web app (that uses Spring btw) attempts to lookup the search EJB, it fails with the following error. This is driving me nuts, surely this kind of comms between the servers should be fairly simple to get working. I've checked the ports and they are correct. I note that the exception says the initial context is H00723Node03Cell/nodes/H00723Node03/servers/server1, name: ejb/com/hmv/dataaccess/ejb/hmvsearch/HMVSearchHome. This is the web apps server NOT the search server. Is this correct? How can I get Spring to use the right context? • Javascript error in Setting focus to a textbox inside a lightbox(Overlay) window.

  Hi All, I have a textbox, a button and a "AdvancedSearch" link on my aspx page. On page load, the focus is set to the textbox. On click of the "AdvancedSearch" link, a lightbox(overlay) window will be opened. I want to set focus to a textbox present within this lightbox window. I am using javascript to achieve this. The code looks somewhat like this: if( element.type != "hidden" && element.style.display != "none" && !element.disabled ) { element.focus(); return; } when the lightbox window loads, i get a javascript error - "Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus" Any idea why this error is thrown and why it is not able to set focus to the textbox in the lightbox window? • Advanced SQL query with lots of joins

  Hey fellow programmers Okay, first let me say that this is a hard one. I know the presentation may be a little long. But I how you'll bare with me and help me through anyway :D So I'm developing on an advanced search for bicycles. I've got a lot of tables I need to join to find all, let's say, red and brown bikes. One bike may come in more then one color! I've made this query for now: SELECT DISTINCT p.products_id, #simple product id products_name, #product name products_attributes_id, #color id pov.products_options_values_name #color name FROM products p LEFT JOIN products_description pd ON p.products_id = pd.products_id INNER JOIN products_attributes pa ON pa.products_id = p.products_id LEFT JOIN products_options_values pov ON pov.products_options_values_id = pa.options_values_id LEFT JOIN products_options_search pos ON pov.products_options_values_id = pos.products_options_values_id WHERE pos.products_options_search_id = 4 #code for red OR pos.products_options_search_id = 5 #code for brown My first concern is the many joins. The Products table mainly holds product id and it's image and the Products Description table holds more descriptive info such as name (and product ID of course). I then have the Products Options Values table which holds all the colors and their IDs. Products Options Search is containing the color IDs along with a color group ID (products_options_search_id). Red has the color group code 4 (brown is 5). The products and colors have a many-to-many relationship managed inside Products Attributes. So my question is first of all: Is it okay to make so many joins? Is i hurting the performance? Second: If a bike comes in both red and brown, it'll show up twice even though I use SELECT DISTINCT. Think this is because of the INNER JOIN. Is this possible to avoid and do I have to remove the doubles in my PHP code? Third: Bikes can be double colored (i.e. black and blue). This means that there are two rows for that bike. One where it says the color is black and one where is says its blue. (See second question). But if I replace the OR in the WHERE clause it removes both rows, because none of them fulfill the conditions - only the product. What is the workaround for that? • .NET Windows Service with timer stops responding

  I have a windows service written in c#. It has a timer inside, which fires some functions on a regular basis. So the skeleton of my service: public partial class ArchiveService : ServiceBase { Timer tickTack; int interval = 10; ... protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { tickTack = new Timer(1000 * interval); tickTack.Elapsed += new ElapsedEventHandler(tickTack_Elapsed); tickTack.Start(); } protected override void OnStop() { tickTack.Stop(); } private void tickTack_Elapsed(object sender, ElapsedEventArgs e) { ... } } It works for some time (like 10-15 days) then it stops. I mean the service shows as running, but it does not do anything. I make some logging and the problem can be the timer, because after the interval it does not call the tickTack_Elapsed function. I was thinking about rewrite it without a timer, using an endless loop, which stops the processing for the amount of time I set up. This is also not an elegant solution and I think it can have some side effects regarding memory. The Timer is used from the System.Timers namespace, the environment is Windows 2003. I used this approach in two different services on different servers, but both is producing this behavior (this is why I thought that it is somehow connected to my code or the framework itself). Does somebody experienced this behavior? What can be wrong? Edit: I edited both services. One got a nice try-catch everywhere and more logging. The second got a timer-recreation on a regular basis. None of them stopped since them, so if this situation remains for another week, I will close this question. Thank you for everyone so far. Edit: I close this question because nothing happened. I mean I made some changes, but those changes are not really relevant in this matter and both services are running without any problem since then. • QuickPdf - Memory leak

  I have a method containing code to create a pdf doc using the QuickPdf library. Inside the method, I instantiate a QuickPdf object, create the pdf doc and save it to a file. I then call this method for each file to be generated. Now my problem is that the pdf docs' sizes are increasing with each call to the method even though the contents are basically the same . I am suspecting a memory leak but I cant see where exactly, since the QuickPdf object is being created and disposed each time on each call.

• jQuery and HTML visual glitches on table cell .toggle

  I have table that gets dynamically created. When using jQuery and toggle, everything works. I however get a small visual glitch - it seems the HTML sometimes get selected. How would I disable this on a faulty drag or mouse operation? Is there a difference in the DOM between text in a cell and 'not text' or buffered space in a td? Thanks in advance.

• Address of default RHEL YUM Repository

We rent a server that is hosted by a third-party and one of our users seems to have "deleted" a lot of the RHN packages from our box; included was the rhn-yum-plugin. I really don't want to waste one our support requests on having them load up the DVD into the box and re-initializing the RHN software. Thanks.

• Inconsistent SMTP Access

  I have a mail server setup on Windows Server 2008. All was working fine, until I wanted to map a drive on the server so that I can access files on another machine. Windows prompted me to configure Network Discovery, which I did with the "Home/Office" option rather than "Public". After that, several access points that worked before stopped working, like VNC, SMTP, etc. After reinstalling those packages, things appeared to be working again. Unfortunately, problems have returned with my SMTP server. I can use an web-based SMTP tester, and it connects in 62msec (as expected). However, if I telnet from my machine on the same LAN, it takes more than 20 seconds to connect! When I try to send messages from Outlook, it times out entirely with the message: Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' I've checked the firewall settings, I've tried configuring it to use port 587 instead of 25, but nothing gets around this problem. Does any have any useful insights? Thanks in advance!

• Mirror for Oracle DB 10g or 11g download

  I was trying to download Oracle Database (10g and 11g). On webpage of oracle there are links, however they give me 404 when I accept OTN license and try to download. I googled around and found forum with users reporting the same issue and the workaround was to change the url of download link from download.oracle.com/... to download download-uk.oracle.com/... however this does not work either, is there any mirror that is working at the moment?

• Out of memory error while uploading file into a blob

  I received a out of memory error SQL Error: 0, SQLState: 53200 from postgres while trying to upload a 10MB file into a single row with a column of blob-type bytea. Which configuration parameters should be changed to allow inserts of this size, or should this work out of the box without modifications? Is there an option like in informix-db to create so called blob-spaces?

• NAS that supports NZB downloading for around £150 ($220) or less (without hard drive)

  I have seen a number of NAS's that are around that price, but I am worried that they may not be able to handle the processing of .rar files (I know that can be quite CPU intensive). Does anyone have any experiences with sabnzbd or hellanzb - or similar on their NAS? In terms of features the main requirement is NZB downloading - I am quite flexible on the other features. Wifi support would be nice, but not essential. Torrent downloading would also be nice. One disk drive would probably be enough. Easy installation of application would be nice... but again I am sure I can follow a tutorial.

  I am new to java(a real novice). I installed Java 1.7.0 in the following folder C:\Program Files\Java The environment variable which I set are CLASSPATH : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0\jre\lib\rt.jar; Path : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0\bin; JAVA_HOME : C:\Program Files\Java; I have presented here the class names which are in my system. We are using the AssemblyInfo MSBuild Community task to update version info in AssemblyInfo.cs. Unfortunately the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute doesn't get in and the AssemblyInfo task tells me that the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute is not supported by the task. Is there any way to add that attribute through MSBuild without having to resort to a custom task that just tacks the line at the end of the file after-the-fact?

  Sorry for weird title, actually i can only explain my question but cannot put in a few words in the title. I am developing WPF Composite application with PRISM approach. I have got a common WPF usercontrol which is gonna be used by all other usercontrol, i.e. usecontrol within a usercontrol. The common usercontrol has got a button "ProcessMultiple" which I want it to behave differently from all usercontrol. I am using RegionManager to add this views. • Semantic stuff (RDF, OWL) on mobile phones - is it possible?

  I'm thinking about using semantic (web) technogies like RDF and OWL in an application on mobile devices. Currently I'm targeting android, but I'd also be interested in the possibilities on the iPhone and on J2ME. I would like to use a lib instead of implementing everything from scratch. I know that there are some libraries and frameworks like Jena, Redland, Protégé but they don't state on which platforms they are known to work. Having a dynamic object model and parsing from and to XML are must-haves for me. I'd also like to use reasoning, but I've been told it was rather computing-intensive, so that's only a nice-to-have. For all platforms mentioned, the question can be interpreted as Is it possible in theory (especially for J2ME I'm not sure) Are there libs that are known to work on those platforms? Is the performance on a mobile platform good enough for real world usage?

• WPF: Disable ListBox, but enable scrolling

  Been banging my head against this all morning. Basically, I have a listbox, and I want to keep people from changing the selection during a long running process, but allow them to still scroll. Solution: All the answers were good, I went with swallowing mouse events since that was the most straight forward. I wired PreviewMouseDown and PreviewMouseUp to a single event, which checked my backgroundWorker.IsBusy, and if it was set the IsHandled property on the event args to true.

• HTML Setting Active with different background colour

  Here is my HTML List: <ul id="navlist"> <li class="item1"><a href="#">One</a></li> <li class="item2"><a href="#">Two</a></li> <li class="item3"><a href="#">Three</a></li> <li class="item4"><a href="#">Four</a></li> <li class="item5"><a href="#">Five</a></li> <li class="item6"><a href="#">Six</a></li> </ul> Each .itemx has a different background colour, so I need the active state to take into account the class. Obviously something like: <li class="item6" id="active"><a href="#">Six</a></li> #active.item6 { background: red; } Would work but IE6 doesnt like chained items in CSS so doesnt work when other items are set out in the CSS. Can I do this with jQuery where each item has a different background colour when 'active?

• I want tell the VC++ Compiler to compile all code. Can it be done?

  I am using VS2005 VC++ for unmanaged C++. I have VSTS and am trying to use the code coverage tool to accomplish two things with regards to unit tests: See how much of my referenced code under test is getting executed See how many methods of my code under test (if any) are not unit tested at all Setting up the VSTS code coverage tool (see the link text) and accomplishing task #1 was straightforward. However #2 has been a surprising challenge for me. Here is my test code. class CodeCoverageTarget { public: std::string ThisMethodRuns() { return "Running"; } std::string ThisMethodDoesNotRun() { return "Not Running"; } }; #include <iostream> #include "CodeCoverageTarget.h" using namespace std; int main() { CodeCoverageTarget cct; cout<<cct.ThisMethodRuns()<<endl; } When both methods are defined within the class as above the compiler automatically eliminates the ThisMethodDoesNotRun() from the obj file. If I move it's definition outside the class then it is included in the obj file and the code coverage tool shows it has not been exercised at all. Under most circumstances I want the compiler to do this elimination for me but for the code coverage tool it defeats a significant portion of the value (e.g. finding untested methods). I have tried a number of things to tell the compiler to stop being smart for me and compile everything but I am stumped. It would be nice if the code coverage tool compensated for this (I suppose by scanning the source and matching it up with the linker output) but I didn't find anything to suggest it has a special mode to be turned on. Am I totally missing something simple here or is this not possible with the VC++ compiler + VSTS code coverage tool? Thanks in advance, KGB
