  • FTP Active vs passive mode

    I have a FTP server and while doing testing I found an odd issue that I don't understand. I send a RETR command on file "/Folder1/file.txt" and it works fine. Then I send a RETR command on file "/Folder1/SubFolder1/file.txt" and it times out on transfering the data to the client. This was in active mode. When I switch to passive mode it works fine. I understand the difference between the two modes, but what I don't understand is why it worked for one file in active mode, but not the other. I tried it a dozen times and still got the same results. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Internet Connection not working - USB LAN connection - from particular modem

    I am trying to fix Internet connection on a friends Dell inspiron 1720 with XP service pack 3. It has an integrated network card that stopped working, after powering down/up the modem still didnt work I brought it back to my place to try a few things ie check cable, update driver etc... still didnt work. So I bought a USB LAN connector. It didnt work straight away but I went to configure the properties and changed the ConnectionType from AutoSense to 100 BaseT 10BaseT Full_Duplex, I basically just tried them all. From my place when connected to my desktop - 10 BaseT and 10BaseT Full_Duplex worked. From my place When connected to their laptop - 10 BaseT and 10BaseT Full_Duplex worked. Happy I went back to my friends house confident it would all work, and it didnt. Brought it back to mine and it did. While there, in Network Connections the connection is there recognized, enabled, 'working properly' it just says not connected. Also there is no led on the USB connector While at mine as above except there is an led on the USB connector and it says connected. Other difference I can think of is they have a cable modem, I'm plugged into the back of a Belkin wireless router - would this make a difference? Any other ideas what to try? (Would getting the model of the cable modem help anyone?) The USB connector is "DM9601 USB to Fast Ethernet"

  • Detect winning game in nought and crosses

    I need to know the best way to detect a winning move in a game of noughts and crosses. Source code doesn't matter, I just need a example or something I can start with. The only thing I can come up with is to use loops and test every direction for every move a player makes, to search for e.g five in a row. Is there a faster and more efficient way?

    I have a group of strings ie g:lines = '9,1,306,LUCY,G,89' I need the output to be: 1,9,89,306,G,LUCY This is my current code: <xsl:for-each select="$all_alerts[g:problem!='normal_service'][g:service='bus']"> <xsl:sort select="g:line"/> <xsl:sort select="number(g:line)" data-type="number"/> <xsl:value-of select="normalize-space(g:line)" /><xsl:text/> <xsl:if test="position()!=last()"><xsl:text>,&#160;</xsl:text></xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> I can get it to only display '1, 12, 306, 38, 9, G, LUCY' because the 2nd sort isn't being picked up. Anyone able help me out?

  • SQL update a table with a foreign key

    I have a categories table, which one of the fields serves as the foreign key for a sub-categories table. One field that serves as part of the primary key for each table is the language id. I need to update these in both tables. Basically, wherever the language id = x in both tables, I need to set it to y. When I try to do an update on either table, I get a 'The UPDATE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint..' which refers to the foreign key constraint. How can I update the language field on both of these tables?

    Hi, When using XML serialization in C#, I use code like this: public MyObject LoadData() { XmlSerializer xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(MyObject)); using (TextReader reader = new StreamReader(settingsFileName)) { return (MyObject)xmlSerializer.Deserialize(reader); } } (and similar code for deserialization). It requires casting and is not really nice. Is there a way, directly in .NET Framework, to use generics with serialization? That is to say to write something like: public MyObject LoadData() { // Generics here.   • Take a string to a byte[]

    I have a string in my database that represents an image. It looks like this: 0x89504E470D0A1A0A0000000D49484452000000F00000014008020000000D8A66040.... <truncated for brevity> When I load it in from the database it comes in as a byte[]. How can I convert the string value to a byte array myself. (I am trying to remove the db for some testing code.)

    I am wandering the desert of my brain. In my header file, I have declared 'string LookUpOutcome(int key);' in the private section of the class. I have tried all sorts of variations. I tried to use 'this' for a little while, and it gave me 'Can only use this in non-static member function.' Sadly, I haven't declared anything static and these are all, putatively, member functions. I tried it [on TakeAnAction and LookUp] when I got the error, but I got something like, 'Can't access MyPrivateMap from LookUp'. MyPrivateMap could be made public and I could refer to it directly, I guess, but my sensibility says that is not the right way to go about this [that means that namespace scoped helper functions are out, I think]. I also guess I could just inline the lookup and subsequent other stuff, but my line-o-meter goes on tilt. I'm trying desperately not to kludge it.

  • Can I return JSON from an .asmx Web Service if the ContentType is not JSON?

    I would like to post a form using ajax and jquery to a .asmx webservice and return the value from the webservice as JSON. I'm using ASP.NET 4.0. I know that in order to return JSON from a webservice the following needs to be set (1) dataType: "json" (2) contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", (3) type: "POST" (4) set the Data to something. I have tested this and it works fine (i.e. my webservice returns the data as JSON) if all *four are set*. But, lets say in my case I want to do a standard form post i.e. test1=value1&test2=value2 so the contentType is not JSON but I want back JSON {test1:value1}. This doesn't seem to work because the contentType is "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" not "application/json; charset=utf-8". Can anyone tell me why I can't do this? It seems crazy to me that you have to explicitly send JSON to get JSON back, yet if you don't use JSON (i.e. post urlencoded contenttype) then the webservice will return XML. Any insights are greatly appreciated :)

  • anonymous ASP.net form with SSL

    Hi I want to create contact form with SSL I have anonymous webapplication and won't be any login usecase, so whole webapplication must work via http:// but when user go to contact form, it must work via https:// I know how to do the redirect to https:// programatically, I've been searching how to configure SSL on IIS but it seems to not be the case?? I don't wont whole webappliation to work via https, only my contact form - how to do that and how o onfigure that? The data from my form will be passed to database, but it is not important here.

  • Creating a circually linked list in C#?

    What would be the best way to create a circually linked list in C#. Should I derive it from the LinkedList< T collection? I'm planning on creating a simple address book using this Linked List to store my contacts (it's gonna be a suck-y address book, but I don't care cause I'll be the only one to use it). I mainly just want to create the crucially linked list so that I can use it again in other projects. If you don't think the Linked List is the right way to go let me know which way would be better.

  • What's open-source commenting system are available?

    My site has several listing pages and on each page, I'd like to enable a commenting mechanism, but I want it to be as open source as humanly possible. This means full use of OpenID's, Facebook connect, etc. Does such a system exist that'll allow users to post their comments on my listing pages? By the way, my site utilizes a LAMP architecture.

  • Blueprint CSS and Separation of Presentation and Content When Designing Forms

    Is it possible to use Blueprint CSS and maintain a a respectable level of separation between presentation and content? I like how easy the framework is to use when designing forms, but am worried that the manner in which I use the css classes for columnizing elements is a bad practice. Is there any IDE (or may be plugins for eclipse) which provides code auto-completition functions, ability to start/stop server, debug jython scripts? I know that there is the Application Server Toolkit 6.1 but it is for WebSphere 6.1 and couldn't be applied to WebSphere 7.

  • Can I use a USB monitor (like Mimo) as a primary monitor?

    I have an old PC in the den without Video Card (I have to remove it after it start failing). I access it through Remote Desktop. I don't want to invest in a new video card since the PC is old. If I buy a USB monitor I can use it as a secondary monitor in the main pc, and plug to the old PC when need. The question is: Does the USB monitor work during booting before the OS was loaded?
