  I just found that to compile fastcgi LAMP, –with-apxs2 shouldn't be used when compiling PHP. But I don't see the reason. Can someone elaborate?

  I want to install PHP 5.3 on Ubuntu Intrepid. To install apxs, I need to install libaprutil1-dev, which depends on libdb4.6-dev. When I look at installing that, apt-get wants to remove the currently installed libdb-dev and libdb4.7-dev. Any advice on how to proceed? • Multiple PHP SAPI configuration

  I'm trying to build PHP for use as an apache shared module --with-apxs2 but also with the 'php-cgi' binary (fastcgi) on Mac OSX 10.6. I'm using this ./configure : /configure --prefix=/usr/local/PHP \ --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --disable-ipv6 \ --enable-cgi \ --with-curl \ --with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config \ --with-openssl=/usr \ --enable-ftp \ --enable-shared \ --enable-soap \ --enable-sockets \ --enable-zip \ --with-zlib-dir It builds the apache php5.so module just fine, but in /usr/local/PHP/bin, there is no php-cgi file. If I build it without the --with-apxs2 option (and indeed, I don't even need the --enable-cgi option) the php-cgi file gets built with no problems. • apxs cannot install mod_cloudflare on centos

  [ Linux - CentOS - Apache 2.2 - mod_cloudflare - apxs2 ] I have changed my nameservers to point to CloudFlare. The problem is that all the IP addresses are coming in as CloudFlare's. This is no good, because I have to monitor and block some specific traffic. mod_cloudflare is supposed to resolve this but I have been unable to get this installed. The command in the documentation uses apxs2. I can't figure out how to install this, or if it just means for 'apache 2.4'. I'm running 2.2.3, and I can use 'apxs'. When I run: apxs -aic mod_cloudflare.c I get the error apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536 Does this mean I need apxs2 or something else? How do I get mod_cloudflare working on my server? I appreciate any help, the documentation is vague and limited.

  I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 on this server. I had PHP 5.2 installed via the package manager. I removed it to install PHP 5.3.1 by hand. I built the packages like so ./configure --prefix=/opt/php --with-mysql --with-curl=/usr/bin --with-apxs2=/usr/bin/apxs2 make make install This installed PHP 5.3.1 in /opt/php/ $ php -v PHP 5.3.1 (cli) (built: Dec 7 2009 10:51:14) Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 Zend Technologies However, when I try to start Apache I get this. # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart * Restarting web server apache2 apache2: Syntax error on line 185 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so: undefined symbol: OnUpdateLong [fail] Any ideas what's causing this error? All the references I can see have to do with building php5 packages for php4 or the like. PHP4 has never been installed on this machine.

• Problem with missing JSON functions on PHP 5.2.6 / Plesk 8.4

  I have a vserver running openSuse 10.3, Apache 2 and Plesk 8.4. I can update/upgrade neither, as it is apparently not recommended to upgrade openSuse 10.3 (and an update to the EOL 10.4 does not seem to make much sense) and Plesk fails to update no matter what version I try (even fails to upgrade to 8.4.1). Still I can live with that somehow, primarily because I don’t have the time to do a fresh remote install on the vserver. What really is a problem is, that though the installed PHP is 5.2.6 it has no zip library and no json functions. The first is probably because PHP was not compiled with --enable-zip. The second is a big mystery though. As I understand it, it always comes with PHP unless its compiled with the --disable-json configure option. This is however not the case. And the json extension module is just not there. I even tried to enable it with extension=json.so with no luck either. the configure options of my PHP are (as shipped with Plesk 8.4) '../configure' '--prefix=/usr' '--datadir=/usr/share/php5' '--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--bindir=/usr/bin' '--with-libdir=lib' '--includedir=/usr/include' '--sysconfdir=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-path=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php5/conf.d' '--enable-libxml' '--enable-session' '--with-mm' '--with-pcre-regex=/usr' '--enable-xml' '--enable-simplexml' '--enable-spl' '--enable-filter' '--disable-debug' '--enable-inline-optimization' '--disable-rpath' '--disable-static' '--enable-shared' '--program-suffix=5' '--with-pic' '--with-gnu-ld' '--with-system-tzdata=/usr/share/zoneinfo' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs2' '--disable-all' '--disable-cli' As I understand it, PECL is not an option with 5.2.6. Or am I mistaken? Even if I was not, the openSuse repository only goes as far as PHP 5.2.4. The openSuse install even came without zypper, which I had to manually install. So is there a way to get ziplib and json running in PHP 5.2.6 without having to recompile the binary?

  My Configure Command doesn't say anything about jpg, nor gif/png, but I can see gif/png support in the output of phpinfo(). I built PHP with --with-gd, but only GIF Support and PNG Support are in the output of phpinfo(), how do I enable JPEG Support? UPDATE I got this problem when compiling : Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Possible reasons follow: 1. Perl is not installed 2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs 3.   I have successfully configured and compiled php on my dev server, and works great, but after talking to a sysadmin buddy, he informed that custom compiles of the latest builds are not recommended for production (or even development) systems. He noted a situation where they custom configured and compiled PHP 5.3.6, only to find that there was some issue with a low-level Postgres driver, so they had to revert back to 5.3.3. So I am considering going back to yum to install PHP, however I have several custom configuration settings and was wondering if it's possible to pass or configure how PHP will be compiled through YUM?   I recently compiled php 5.4 from source. I have Centos 6. I used this configuration: # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql # make # make install # cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php.ini I realize now that I do not have cURL installed. I don't know how to install cURL after a compiled installation of php. Using yum install php-curl installs cURL for php 5.3. I tried this already with an apache restart and it did not show up on my phpinfo file. How do I install cURL under these circumstances?

I can't come out of any. Does anyone know what this error exactly means? How to get rid of this error?

I've scoured the Internet looking for answers all day, but to no avail. Does anyone have ANY insight into what is causing my problems.

  Does anyone have some tips on compiling PHP's intl extension on PHP? I'm getting compile errors each way I try it and I've been googling for ages and getting nowhere. Any help greatly appreciated. • Unable to install mod_wsgi on CentOS 5.5 VPS...

  I am trying to install mod_wsgi on my VPS, but it won't work. This is what I am doing: wget http://modwsgi.googlecode.com/files/mod_wsgi-2.5.tar.gz tar xzvf mod_wsgi-2.5.tar.gz cd mod_wsgi-2.5 ./configure --with-python=/opt/python2.5/bin/python After I run the above command, I get this error: checking for apxs2... no checking for apxs... no checking Apache version... ./configure: line 1298: apxs: command not found ./configure: line 1298: apxs: command not found ./configure: line 1299: /: is a directory ./configure: line 1461: apxs: command not found configure: creating ./config.status config.status: creating Makefile config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in Through some research I've discovered that I need to modify my command: ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --with-python=/usr/local/bin/python But, /usr/local/apache/ doesn't exist, or so that's what it is telling me. If it doesn't exist, how do I create it with all the files needed, or if apache is located elsewhere on my VPS where would it be located?
