• Looking for WAMP Benchmarking (my current WAMP is very slow, so are other solutions)

  I'm running ZWAMP WAMP stack on my local development machine. However I have found it to be very slow at serving pages from a Drupal site I have setup. By contrast, my live production site on shared hosting is reasonably quick. For me the goal with a local WAMP stack was to develop offline and send completed work to the live production site. I liked ZWAMP because it didn't require adjustments to User Access Control or other permissions. I've looked at Drupal Acquia Development Stack but found this too restrictive: only one site instance/doc root can be installed. I've looked at other DAMP stacks and heard reports of them being slow. My local development machine that I am running the WAMP stack on is a Dual Core 2.6Ghz hyperthreaded Intel i7, 4Gb RAM, 7200rpm hard disk, running Windows 64bit professional. Surely this is fast enough. So I'm looking for: Causes of the slowness of the WAMP and how to improve the speed Benchmark data of various WAMP stacks

• WAMP server won't run with PHP 5.3.4 but will with PHP 5.2.11

  I have a 64bit Windows 7 Professional machine. I'm running WampServer Version 2.1 with Apache 2.2.4. It was installed on a clean machine. I'm using the default ini/conf files as they come. Wamp is installed in C:\wamp\, with php5.2 at C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.11 and php5.3 at C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.4. Both folders have the same permissions. When I run WAMP with 5.2.11 picked, it starts fine. When I run it with 5.3.4 picked, there are no errors in the Apache or PHP error logs, but I get The Apache service named reported the following error: httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 115 of C:/wamp/bin/apache/apache2.2.4/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/wamp/bin/php/php5.3.4/php5apache2_2.dll into server: The Apache service named is not a valid Win32 application. in my system application error logs. 5.2.11 calls C:/wamp/bin/php/php5.2.11/php5apache2_2.dll and that doesn't throw an error. What am I doing wrong?

• Why not use a WAMP stack?

  I recently had a talk with some experienced people and they suggested to me not to use a WAMP stack, and instead install apache, mysql and php separately. I don't understand why they have suggested this, though, so can anyone tell me? Is there a particular disadvantage of WAMP, or a particular advantage to installing all of them separately? Since a WAMP stack itself is composed of apache, mysql and php, then what's the difference between using the WAMP stack and installing them all separately?

• XAMPP vs WAMP security and other on Windows XP

  Not long ago I found WAMP and thought it was a God send because it had all the things I wanted/needed (Apache, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin) all built into one installer. One thing about WAMP has been making me mad is an error I get in phpMyAdmin about the advanced features not working. I have tried to fix that error long enough on that error for long enough. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2688385/problem-with-phpmyadmin-advanced-features I now read that most people prefer XAMPP over WAMP, but I am a bit concerned that XAMPP might have some extra security holes with Mercury and Perl, two thing that I don't really need or want right now. Are my security concerns justified or not? Is there any other reasons to go with XAMPP over WAMP or vice versa?

• Managing PHP processes on Windows 7 (with WAMP)

  Is there a way to manage (especially list and kill) long-running PHP processes on a Windows 7 system set up with WAMP? Every once in a while, I'll accidentally throw an infinite loop into a PHP process and want to kill it. Right now, all I can think to do is to restart all my WAMP services but sometimes the PHP processes manage to survive right through the restart, i.e., I still see them outputting to logs even after WAMP's restarted. And if the process isn't logging, then I have no way at all to know when/if it's been killed. Not to mention, this will wipe out everything I'm doing with WAMP, not just a single process. I don't seem to see anything relevant in the Windows Task Manager, but maybe I'm missing something.

  Hi, I need advice installing XAMPP with different php versions. How can I install XAMPP supporting different version of php? Before I formated my computer I used both WAMP and XAMPP for specific purposes. I used XAMPP because some of the scripts are buggy when run in WAMP, I used WAMP because it support different versions of PHP. Now I want that feature that support different version of PHP to be added to XAMPP. So I could just install 1 software for my Web Development and It would be easy for me to manage. • Using pg_connect() with wamp server and postgresql

  Help! I am trying to connect to a Postgres database and can't get the server to connect. I've been working on this for hours and can't figure out how to get pg_connect to work. Any ideas???

• Wamp website stop responding till restarting services [on hold]

  My first message here after many non conclusive research about my problem. So I'm administering a drupal website and I have migrate all application to new version: PHP 5.3.5 - 5.4.16 Apache 2.2.17 - 2.4.4 MySQL 5.1.36 - 5.6.12 With the new Wamp version. Also update Drupal from 6.19 to 6.30. I have update it by uninstalling everything in the server and reinstalling the new version. Since this update the website sometimes become unresponsive till we restart wamp. No warrning and no error in event log. Can somebody help me with this problem? I also cannot enable SSL, after configuring it wamp won't start. I have do many research and test but I still have many issue. • Setting up WAMP to run on a LAN

  I've installed WAMP on a Windows 7 PC, and it is running fine locally, as localhost. I want PCs on the LAN to be able to view the local server. When they load my PC's IP address in their browser, they receive a "You don't have permission to access / on this server" error. I followed this guide, but the issue remains. To recap: I've added an inbound exception to Windows Firewall for port 80 for Private and Domain connections. I've edited Apache's httpd.conf to include: Listen 80 Listen 192.168.0.5:80 < Directory "c:/wamp/www/wordpress/" allow from all < /Directory I've edited httpd-vhosts.conf to include: < VirtualHost 192.168.0.5:80 DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/wordpress" < /VirtualHost Any ideas?

  I created various aliases on Wamp to be able to work on my different projects. Strangely, one of my alias is visible when I call the other. • I can't connect to my WAMP server from a client on the same network

  Usually I would manually set up Apache and PHP but this time I thought I would go for the WAMP alternative. I've set up WAMP and it's working perfectly fine on the host machine. If I try and access the WAMP server from another machine on the same network (same subnet too: 192.168.1.*) I get this message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I have been online and gone through steps. I have changed Allow from 127.0.0.1 to Allow from all and it's still not working. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

  I downloaded wamp which works (green icon). However I need to test a site locally in Joomla 1.5 which caused errors when using php 5.3 I believe I need a PHP version lower then this i.e 5.2.x To do this I have gone through PHP - Version - Get More.. and installed a older PHP version. However when I start this PHP version the icon stays on an orange colour and going in localhost doesn't work. I haven't used wamp before so my knowledge of it is limited. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated, Regards.

  I'm running WAMP which was working fine the other day. Today I tried connecting to 127.0.0.1 and my browser throws a 404. Both firefox and chrome. My hosts file is correct mapping 127.0.0.1 to localhost. I can telnet to both the IP and localhost port 80 and see a response from apache. When I go to localhost I see the WAMP landing page. I can go to localhost/folder and view the applications just fine. What can be causing the 404's when I go to 127.0.0.1?

  I have noticed my remote server returns $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] with every request. Example: [REDIRECT_STATUS] = 200 But my localhost wamp server does not. Interestingly, when I manually set a header: Example: header('HTTP/1.1 302 Redirect This'); The variable: $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] is still not set. Though I can view the headers, including the one I set, with HttpFox. $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] is set when .htaccess throws(?) an ErrorDocument, like ErrorDocument 404 for example. Any ideas how to get wamp server to set the variable $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] with every request?

• Wamp server won't run [closed]

  win xp sp3 I installed wamp 2.2 and after starting it was allways orrange and offline. Clicking on "Put Online" I got the error: wampserver aestan tray menu - could not execute menu item (internal error)... Somewhere I found the advice to change httpd.conf file (Listen 80 - to Listen 8080) Now, mouseover try icon shows that server is online, but it is still orrange, and click on localhost shows: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost. Skype is not running and inside Skype options "Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections" is unchecked. A couple of months ago I was able to run wamp normaly. Could someone help, pls.

  I am running a wamp server and trying to use mysqldump to backup a mysql database I have. The following is the PHP code I am using to run mysqldump. exec("mysqldump backup -u$user -p$pass > $sql_file"); When I run the script the page just loads inifnately and the backup is not created. A blank file is being created so I know something is happening. Extra info: exec() is not disabled PHP is not running in safe mode Any ideas?? Win XP, WAMP, MYSQL 5.0.51b

  local install of wp site brought down from host - home page is ok but other pages redirect to wamp config page. I got all local files from host to www dir under local wamp. I got database from host and loaded to new local db and used this tool to adjust site_on_web.com to "localhost/site_on_local" now the home page works great and can login to admin page but when click on reservations page and others of site then site just goes to the wamp server config page even though the url shows correctly as localhost/site_on_local/reservations my htaccess file is this # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress and rewrite-module is checked in the php-apache-apache modules setting. now when I uncheck the rewrite-module is checked in the php-apache-apache modules setting or I clear out the whole htaccess file then the pages just goto Not Found The requested URL /ritas041214/about-ritas/ was not found on this server. Please help as I am unsure now about my process to move local site up and down and be able to make it work and without this I am lost...

• SVN directories not showing up in localhost when using WAMP

  Hi: I recently installed WAMP for actual local use. I've worked on live development servers but now am working on localhost. I've managed to get multiple virtual hosts setup on my WAMP/Vista 64-bit box but am having difficulty with directories pulled from SVN. I have four vhosts setup. Two work well and they are not tied to any SVN just yet. I'm also using TortoiseSVN in case it makes any difference. However, the other projects are coming from SVN repositories. When I view these two projects I get the following error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.   When I install WAMP, the Apache and Mysql services are set to run as the LocalService user and all works well. However, because I need to access remote UNC paths in my PHP code, I need to run at least Apache as a user that exists on both the local host and the remote host - I'll call him WampUser. When both Apache and Mysql are set to start as WampUser, I cannot start both at the same time. If both are stopped, I can start either successfully. When I attempt to start the other, I get Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. This error appears immediately - there is no timeout. When at least one of the services is set to start as LocalService, both start fine. I can, therefore, solve my problem by setting Apache to WampUser and Mysql to LocalService, but I'm more interested in why this is happening in the first place. I'm especially curious because this situation does not occur on other servers - something I've done to this server has made these two services exclusive when running as the same user. Here are some miscellaneous data points: I am using Windows Server 2003. I've provided recursive Full Control to the C:\wamp directory for WampUser. Nothing appears in the event log after the service fails. No log entries appear in either the Mysql log or the Apache error log. Neither application appears in the process list when the appropriate service is stopped. Any ideas?

• Wamp virtualhost with supporting of remote access

  To cut the long story short, I've setup a Wamp server with local virtual host for domain like sample.dev, now I've bind my static IP and port 80 to my Apache and asked the client to make some changes in his hosts file and add x.x.x.x sample.dev , I've also configured my httpd virtual host like this : <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAlias sample.dev DocumentRoot 'webroot_directory' </VirtualHost> Client can reach to my web server using the direct access by ip address, but when he tries using the sample domain looks like he gets in to some infinite loop. The firewall is off too. What would be the problem?! Thanks.
