• How do I count Internal Logical Files (ILF) and External Inputs (EI) for a dynamic form entry page?

  Assuming I have an applicant information entry screen, the number and types of fields on which can be defined by the system administrator, how do I go about counting the number of Internal Logical Files (ILFs) and Data Element Types (DETs) for the related data functions? So far I have come up with something like this: ILF #1 (control information): Field Metadata, 1 RET, ~3 DET (name, type, mandatory) ILF #2 (business data): Applicant Data, most likely 1 RET, but how many DET? Of course I could count it as 2 DET (Field ref, Value), but I am not sure that would be correct And when it comes to an External Input (EI), say, "Add New Applicant", things become even more complicated, because the number of DET corresponding to the user-editable fields is totally dependent on the control information in ILF #1, and I am out of ideas here... Anyone fancy to help with that? Thanks in advance!

• Dojo: Programatically setting checkbox label for adding on TableContainer

  Hi there, after some hours of checking out documentation, I am somewhat desperate: Basically I need to populate a TabContainer with some TextBoxes, and some Checkboxes. All theses neatly arranged: Labels to the left, fields to the right. To have this done I use a TableContainer that I add to the TabContainer, create the TextFields and add them to the TableContainer. All is rendered ok. But when it comes to a checkbox, I can't find the trick to have a label displayed at all. If I: - add a label-attribute to creation statement say: var text8 = new dijit.form.CheckBox({ id:"zuschauer_" + i, value: "zuschauer", label:"fritt"}); Firefox comes up with a "containerNode is null" - Error try to add a tag: Nothing is shown (no error, but alas: no label): var text9 = dojo.create('<label>'); dojo.attr(text9,"for","zuschauer_" + i); dojo.attr(text9,"content","fritt"); try to add a div or somewhat else on the tablecontainer (disabled Labels): Firefox comes up whith: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception...   I'm trying to read up on asp.net mvc, I have never used asp.net before but are familiar with regular c# development. Freshly installed, fully patched Windows XP Home. Freshly installed updated to SP1 Visual Studio 2008 Pro. Started a new project, selected "ASP.NET MVC Web Application", target framework is 3.5 I hit F5 and I get: "Could not load file or assembly System.EnterpriseServices" Exact wording in swedish: [FileNotFoundException: Det går inte att hitta filen. (Undantag från HRESULT: 0x80070002)] [FileNotFoundException: Det går inte att läsa in filen eller sammansättningen System.EnterpriseServices, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a eller ett av dess beroenden. Det går inte att hitta filen.] Adding a reference to System.EnterpriseServices in my project did not work. A quick google suggested I copy this file Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/System.EnterpriseServices.dll into %WINDOWS%/assembly but that did not work either. Any suggestions? Found the answer, I added it to the GAC with gacutil. C:\WINDOWS"C:\Program\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin\gacutil.exe" /i Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/System.EnterpriseServices.dll

  I would like to have a deterministic finite automata (DFA) simulated in Mercury. But I’m s(t)uck at several places. Formally, a DFA is described with the following characteristics: a setOfStates S, an inputAlphabet E <-- summation symbol, a transitionFunction : S × E -- S, a startState s € S, a setOfAcceptableFinalStates F =C S. A DFA will always starts in the start state. Then the DFA will read all the characters on the input, one by one. Based on the current input character and the current state, there will be made to a new state. These transitions are defined in the transitions function. when the DFA is in one of his acceptable final states, after reading the last character, then will the DFA accept the input, If not, then the input will be is rejected. The figure shows a DFA the accepting strings where the amount of zeros, is a plurality of three. Condition 1 is the initial state, and also the only acceptable state. for each input character is the corresponding arc followed to the next state. Link to Figure What must be done A type “mystate” which represents a state. Each state has a number which is used for identification. A type “transition” that represents a possible transition between states. Each transition has a source_state, an input_character, and a final_state. A type “statemachine” that represents the entire DFA. In the solution, the DFA must have the following properties: The set of all states, the input alphabet, a transition function, represented as a set of possible transitions, a set of accepting final states, a current state of the DFA A predicate “init_machine (state machine :: out)” which unifies his arguments with the DFA, as shown as in the Figure. The current state for the DFA is set to his initial state, namely, 1. The input alphabet of the DFA is composed of the characters '0'and '1'. A user can enter a text, which will be controlled by the DFA. the program will continues until the user types Ctrl-D and simulates an EOF. • Is data integrity possible without normalization?

  I am working on an application that requires the storage of location information such as city, state, zip code, latitude, and longitude. I would like to ensure: Location data is accurate Detroit, CA Detroit IS NOT in California Detroit, MI Detroit IS in Michigan Cities and states are spelled correctly California not Calefornia Detroit not Detriot Cities and states are named consistently Valid: CA Detroit Invalid: Cali california DET d-town The D Also, since city/zip data is not guaranteed to be static, updating this data in a normalized fashion could be difficult, whereas it could be implemented as a de facto location if it is denormalized. A couple thoughts that come to mind: A collection of reference tables that store a list of all states and the most common cities and zip codes that can grow over time. It would search the database for an exact or similar match and recommend corrections. Use some sort of service to validate the location data before it is stored in the database. Is it possible to fulfill these requirements without normalization, and if so, should I denormalize this data?

• Java IDE written in pure Java?

  Is there a Java IDE written in Java? I just got my year 9 DET laptop today at school, and there are all sorts of restrictions set in place. Somewhat annoyingly, you cannot run any executable other than the ones already installed on the system (for some reason they haven't disabled the use of Command Prompt, PowerShell, or strangely enough, regedit). They allow you to run Java executables, so I thought that would be the only way to be able to program on my crappy laptop at school (when I have finished all my work, naturally) :D Edit: By written in Java, I also mean that the executable, that is used to run the program, has the file extension ".jar", thus running on the JVM. Edit 2: I tried the DrJava IDE, and it worked great, thanks (I can compile and execute programs)! Regarding running Eclipse as through the command line using the command "java -jar "C:/Users.../org.eclipse..."". This results in an error producing a log saying file, the main error is: MESSAGE An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.eclipse.ui.workbench (182). How do I fix this error (I much perfer working with Eclipse than any other IDE)? Edit 3: Regarding my last edit, just disregard it :D. I fixed the problem by downloading the latest version of Eclipse.

• Calculating determinant by hand

  Okey, this is only half programming, but let's see how you are on terms with manual calculations. I believe many of you did this on your university's while giving "linear systems" ... the problem is it's been so long I can't remember how to do it any more. I know quite a few algorithms for calculating determinants, and they all work fine ... for large systems, where one would never try to do it manually. Unfortunatelly, I'm soon going on an exam, where I do have to calculate it manually, up to the system of 5. So, I have a K(omega) matrix that looks like this: [2-(omega^2)*c -4 2 0 0] [-2 5-(omega^2)*c -4 1 0] [1 -4 6-(omega^2)*c -4 1] [0 1 -4 5-(omega^2)*c -2] [0 0 2 -4 2-(omega^2)*c] and I need all the omegas which satisfy the det[K(omega)]=0 criteria. What would be a good way to calculate it so it can be repeated in a manual process ?

• openmp in mex : stackoverflow error

  i have got the following fraction of code that getting me the stack overflow error #pragma omp parallel shared(Mo1, Mo2, sum_normalized_p_gn, Data, Mean_Out,Covar_Out,Prior_Out, det) private(i) num_threads( number_threads ) { //every thread has a new copy double* normalized_p_gn = (double*)malloc(NMIX*sizeof(double)); #pragma omp critical { int id = omp_get_thread_num(); int threads = omp_get_num_threads(); mexEvalString("drawnow"); } #pragma omp for //some parallel process..... } the variables declared in the shared are created by malloc. and they consumes with large amount of memory there are 2 questions regarding to the above code. 1) why this would generate the stack overflow error( i.e. segmentation fault) before it goes into the parallel for loop? it works fine when it runs in the sequential mode.... 2) am i right to dynamic allocate memory for each thread like "normalized_p_gn" above? • Why isnt php reading my cookie?

  at index.php i have a form to fill out some settings. the form posts to setsettings.php at setsettings.php it uses the form data and sets some cookies and redirect back to index.php. if i print_r($_COOKIE) at setsettings.php all is well. but nothing comes up at index.php, the $_COOKIE array is empty :( Does somebody know how i go about solving this?
