  • Static libpng link with visual studio 2010

    - by Sanctus2099
Hey guys. I'm trying to add PNG support to my application and thus I want to include libpng. I know it needs zlib and thus I downloaded that as well. I went into the png folder/projects/vstudio and I opened the solution. I compiled it and it went just fine. I added some headers from it into my application and I copied the lib files. My program is a dll written in c++ which is later used from C#. When I run it in C# it complains about not finding my dll (tough if I remove the png part it works fine). I've had this problem before and it usually means a dll dependency is wrong. Now... libpng compiled both some .lib files and some .dll files. The dll files are bigger. My only guess is that it needs the dll files as well but I've seen that people can link to libpng without a dll. So my questions is: How can I compile libpng(and zlib for that instance) into just static libraries and how can I include those in my projects? I've searched around the internet and I couldn't find anything useful.

  • Problem linking SDL_Image against libpng

    - by Tim Jones
I'm trying to compile SDL_Image 1.2.10 with MinGW + MSys (gcc 4.5.0) on Windows, I have compiled all the requires libs (zlib 1.2.5, libpng 1.4.2, libjpeg 8a, libtiff 3.9.2). SDL_Image compiles fine, but fails to link to libpng, throwing .libs/IMG_png.o:IMG_png.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference errors on various png structs. If I run ./configure --prefix=/mingw --disable-png for SDL_Image, it compiles and links against the other libs just fine. I have tried older versions of libpng (1.2.43), but they also caused SDL_Image to throw the same errors.

  • Trouble compiling libpng (& zlib) using RVCT 4.0's armcc compiler

    - by Arjun
Hi, I'm trying to compile libpng & zlib using the RVCT 4.0 armcc compiler. However armcc cannot find 'fcntl.h', which I assume is a standard C library. Cygwin has fcntl.h (and the associated files types.h and _types.h), but when I use those, I get various compilation errors. Should I be using Cygwin's version of standard C libraries, or RVCT's? If the latter is correct, where do I get RVCT's versions of fcntl.h, types.h and _types.h? Thanks! Arjun

  • Need help using libpng to read an image

    Here is my function... I don't know why it's not working. The resulting image looks nothing like what the .png looks like. But there's no errors either. bool Bullet::read_png(std::string file_name, int pos) { png_structp png_ptr; png_infop info_ptr; FILE *fp; if ((fp = fopen(file_name.c_str(), "rb")) == NULL) { return false; } png_ptr = png_create_read_struct(PNG_LIBPNG_VER_STRING, NULL, NULL, NULL); if (png_ptr == NULL) { fclose(fp); return false; } info_ptr = png_create_info_struct(png_ptr); if (info_ptr == NULL) { fclose(fp); png_destroy_read_struct(&png_ptr, NULL, NULL); return false; } if (setjmp(png_jmpbuf(png_ptr))) { png_destroy_read_struct(&png_ptr, &info_ptr, NULL); fclose(fp); return false; } png_init_io(png_ptr, fp); png_read_png(png_ptr, info_ptr, PNG_TRANSFORM_STRIP_16 | PNG_TRANSFORM_SWAP_ALPHA | PNG_TRANSFORM_EXPAND, NULL); png_uint_32 width = png_get_image_width(png_ptr, info_ptr); png_uint_32 height = png_get_image_height(png_ptr, info_ptr); imageData[pos].width = width; imageData[pos].height = height; png_bytepp row_pointers; row_pointers = png_get_rows(png_ptr, info_ptr); imageData[pos].data = new unsigned int[width*height]; for (unsigned int i=0; i < height; ++i) { memcpy(&imageData[pos].data[i*width], &row_pointers[i], width*sizeof(unsigned int)); } png_destroy_read_struct(&png_ptr, &info_ptr, NULL); fclose(fp); for (unsigned int i=0; i < height; ++i) { for (unsigned int j=0; j < width; ++j) { unsigned int val = imageData[pos].data[i*width+j]; if (val != 0) { unsigned int a = ((val >> 24)); unsigned int r = (((val - (a << 24)) >> 16)); unsigned int g = (((val - (a << 24) - (r << 16)) >> 8)); unsigned int b = (((val - (a << 24) - (r << 16) - (g << 8)))); // for debugging std::string s(AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(i*width+j))); s += " "; s += AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(val)); s += " "; s += AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(a)); s += " "; s += AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(r)); s += " "; s += AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(g)); s += " "; s += AS3_StringValue(AS3_Int(b)); AS3_Trace(AS3_String(s.c_str())); } } } return true; } ImageData is just a simple struct to keep x, y, width, and height, and imageData is an array of that struct. struct ImageData { int x; int y; int width; int height; unsigned int* data; }; Here is a side by side screenshot of the input and output graphics (something I made in a minute for testing), and this was after setting alpha to 255 in order to make it show up (because the alpha I was getting back was 1).   • How do you make npiet use macports' libgd?

    - by Adrian
I am trying to install npiet (http://www.bertnase.de/npiet/). It requires libgd and libpng. I have installed both of these with macports, but when I run the configure script included with npiet, it says that it can't find them. It also doesn't recognize --with-png=/opt/local/bin.

  • How do I read an arbitrary chunk from a PNG file?

    - by Mason Wheeler
I've got some custom metadata to put into a PNG file. It's being saved through libpng, and it's not difficult to write out a custom chunk. I just call png_write_chunk with the name, length and data. But I can't see how to get the data back out again. I'd expect there to be a png_read_chunk function that takes a chunk name and returns a pointer to the data or something like that, but there's nothing like that in png.h. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

  • Android NDK Question

    - by Kyle
The NDK does not contain very many shared libraries for you to access. As a result, I must build many sources myself and link them into my shared library via static/shared libraries. I want to compile libpng as a Static Library. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea how, nor does google instruct you how to do so in their NDK. I'm no expert on the NDK even after reading everything I can find, so I would really appreciate someone who actually knows how this is done. I do have the Android.mk file for libpng, as google's Android OS source contains it. Infact, I got the entire directory on the android OS source for libpng and it's dependent libraries. It was somewhat of a shortcut instead of making one myself. I don't know how to make a particular directory which contains this file, though. Thanks for reading!

  • How do I change all shared libraries used in my programe to static libraries in windows?

    - by httpinterpret
The shared library is causing much trouble for me, and disk space is far less expensive than the trouble itself. How can I convert all shared libs(.dll) to static libs(.lib) and make my programe use them instead of using shared libs? Note some .dlls are not directly refered to by my programe,e.g. my programe requires libpng, and libpng requires zlib.dll. Is there a solution that wraps up all these cases?

  • gcc architecture question

    - by Andy
Hi, I'm compiling my program with architecture set to -mtune=i386 However, I'm also linking statically against several libs (libpng, zlib, jpeglib, vorbisfile, libogg). I've built these libs on my own using configure and make, so I guess these libs were built with architecture being set to my system's architecture which would be i686. But I don't want that! I want my program to run on i386, too, so I need to make sure that all these libs that I'm statically linking against are built for i386, too. So my question: Is there a convenient way to build libpng/zlib/jpeglib/vorbisfile/libogg etc. for i386 or do I have to modify all of their makefiles manually and make sure that -mtune is set to i386? Thanks for help! Andy

  • Problem compiling gnustep-gui-0.16.0 undefined reference to png_sizeof

    - by stefanB
I'm trying to compile GNUstep on a linux box but gnustep-gui-0.16.0 package is failing. I downloaded GNUstep Startup stable 0.20.1 (http://wwwmain.gnustep.org/resources/downloads.php)and follow instructions about how to compile (./configure && make). I'm getting this error: libgnustep-gui.so: undefined reference to 'png_sizeof' I have compiled latest libpng (1.2.34) and I can see that png_sizeof is defined as macro. However, I'm not quite sure how to fix the gnustep-gui-0.16.0 build. I tried to pass the include/lib directory where libpng is installed to configure build but nothing seems to help. I have quite up to date linux box but using gcc 3.3 (upgrade is not an option - but this should not be a problem). Full error: Making all for tool set_show_service... • Transparent parts of texture are opaque black instead

    - by Aaron
I render a sprite twice, one on top of the other. The sprites have transparent parts, so I should be able to see the bottom sprite under the top sprite. The transparent parts are black (the clear colour) and opaque instead though and the topmost sprite blocks the bottom sprite. My fragment shader is trivial: uniform sampler2D texture; varying vec2 f_texcoord; void main() { gl_FragColor = texture2D(texture, f_texcoord); } I have glEnable(GL_BLEND) and glBlendFunc(GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA) in my initialization code. My texture comes from a PNG file that I load with libpng. I'm sure to use GL_RGBA when initializing the texture with glTexImage2D (otherwise the sprites look like noise).

  • rounded corners in Qooxdoo - problems with ImageMagic and PNG

    - by lomme47
Hi, I want to create a button with rounded corners in Qooxdoo but I'm having some problems. I guess it's a problem with ImageMagick and not my Qooxdoo code, but I'll post it anyway. So in order to create rounded corners I'm following this guide Guide this is what my image.json contains: { "jobs" : { "common" : { "let" : { "RESPATH" : "source/resource/custom" }, "cache" : { "compile" : "../cache" } }, "image-clipping" : { "extend" : ["common"], "slice-images" : { "images" : { "${RESPATH}/image/source/groupBox.png" : { "prefix" : "../clipped/groupBox", "border-width" : 4 } } } }, "image-combine" : { "extend" : ["common"], "combine-images" : { "images" : { "${RESPATH}/image-combined/combined.png": { "prefix" : [ "${RESPATH}" ], "layout" : "vertical", "input" : [ { "prefix" : [ "${RESPATH}" ], "files" : [ "${RESPATH}/image/clipped/groupBox*.png" ] } ] } } } } } } Here's what happens when I run image-clipping and image-combine: C:\customgenerate.py -c image.json image-clipping INITIALIZING: CUSTOM Configuration: image.json Jobs: image-clipping Resolving config includes... Resolving jobs... Incorporating job defaults... Resolving macros... Resolving libs/manifests... EXECUTING: IMAGE-CLIPPING Initializing cache... Done C:\customgenerate.py -c image.json image-combine INITIALIZING: CUSTOM Configuration: image.json Jobs: image-combine Resolving config includes... Resolving jobs... Incorporating job defaults... Resolving macros... Resolving libs/manifests... EXECUTING: IMAGE-COMBINE Initializing cache... Combining images... Creating image C:\custom\source\resource\custom\image-combined\combined.png Magick: no decode delegate for this image format \docume~1\lomme\lokala~1\ tmpql73hk' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/532. Magick: missing an image filename C:\custom\source\resource\custom\image-combined\combined.png' @ error/montage.c/MontageImageCommand/1707. The montage command (montage -geometry +0+0 -gravity NorthWest -tile 1x -background None @c:\docume~1\lomme\lokala~1\temp\tmpql73hk C:\custom\source\resources\custom\image-combined\combined.png) failed with the following return code:1 The image-clipping works like a charm but I get some kinda error message when I try to run image-combine. When I google the error messages it says ImageMagick is lacking PNG support but I can use other commands like "convert a.jpg b.png" so there must be some kinda png support? here's what "identify -list format" returns: PNG* PNG rw- Portable Network Graphics (libpng 1.2.43) See http://www.libpng.org/ for details about the PNG format. PNG24* PNG rw- opaque 24-bit RGB (zlib 1.2.3) PNG32* PNG rw- opaque or transparent 32-bit RGBA PNG8* PNG rw- 8-bit indexed with optional binary transparency So why do i get this error message: Magick: no decode delegate for this image format Looks to me like there's png support? I've never used ImageMagick before so I'm completely lost :D Thanks in advance

  • Emacs under Windows and PNG files

    - by Leo Alekseyev
Would anyone have any pointers on getting PNG images to display in Emacs 23 under Win32?.. I have installed the gnuwin32 set of utilities, including libpng and zlib; C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin is in path. JPG files started working but not PNGs. I'd appreciate any hints on getting this to work.

  • Macbook OSX applications crashing on startup

    - by Ryan Doom
Closed my computer last night, went home. Opened it and it had restarted. Now when I open a couple programs such as Adobe Fireworks or Appcelerator Titanium they throw up a nasty error like below. Other programs (Chrome, Firefox, Textmate, Versions) works fine. Any thoughts on this? I haven't owned my Macbook long so I'm not even aware of the right tools or places to look to track this down. Any help would be most appreciated. It's making it hard to get my work done :] If it helps at all both those programs were probably open when it restarted. From the look of it I'm not sure if it's a permissions error or something? I completely re-installed on of the applications Titanium. Didn't seem to help.
