  • Help with link tricks

    - by Colre
I have a php script that accepts one single query: ie., name=micheal. For now I query it over the net like so: www.mydomain.net/mysript.php?name=micheal. But I do want to query it like this: www.mydomain.net/micheal. Unfortunately, I do not know how to do that. Would you please help me out?

  • Directly adding username to URL PHP

    - by Stanley Ngumo
Hi, I would to know how one is able to append a username directly to a site url without having to put it within a query? Eg www.myspace.com/micheal instead of www.myspace.com?name=micheal Without having to create a new folder for the user so that when the url is typed including the name, the surfer is taken directly to the user's profile. Thanx

  • Percentage calculation around 0.5 (0.4 = -20% and 0.6 = +20%)

    - by Micheal
I'm in a strange situation where I have a value of 0.5 and I want to convert the values from 0.5 to 1 to be a percentage and from 0.5 to 0 to be a negative percentage. As it says in the title 0.4 should be -20%, 0.3 should be -40% and 0.1 should be -80%. I'm sure this is a simple problem, but my mind is just refusing to figure it out :) Can anyone help? :)

  • where should we place HIDDEN variable in JSP

    - by micheal
I need to use Hidden variables in my JSP for session tracking. this is the code: <input type="hidden" name="REQ_TOKEN" value="<%=session.getAttribute("SESN_TOKEN").toString()%>" /> i am using this to compare the request token with session token, so only when both are equal i will evaluate that request otherwise i will throw an error. Now the problem is, when i place this code inside <form></form> tags, it is working fine. Unfortunately there are some JSPs in my application where we dont have tag(I know that sounds weird!). where can i place my code so that it will work? Cant i use Hidden variables without FORM tag???

  • how to find copyright code???

    - by micheal
hi all, we were maintaining an MS Access application. Person who actually developed the application used copyrighted code. Now we want to remove that code and re-write that logic. Problem is we dont know what is the copyrighted code and what is not. Is there any way or tool that can be used to scan through the existing code and flag the code that was directly got from internet and used? Thanks in advance.

  • Making a JQuery tooltip retrieve a new value every time the mouse moves.

    - by Micheal Smith
As i am developing an application that makes use of a tooltip that will display a different value when the user moves the mouse. The user mouses over a table cell and the application then generates a number, the further right the cursor moves in the cell, the higher the value increases. I have created a tooltip that runs and when the cursor mouses over the cell, it does indeed show the correct value. But, when the i move the mouse, it does not show the new value but just the older one. I need to know how to make it update everytime the mouse moves or the value of a variable changes, Any ideas for the problem? <table> <tr id="mon_Section"> <td id="day_Title">Monday</td> <td id="mon_Row"></td> </tr> </table> Below is the document.ready function that calls my function: $(document).ready(function() { $("#mon_Row").mousemove(calculate_Time); }); Below is the function: <script type="text/javascript"> var mon_Pos = 0; var hour = 0; var minute = 0; var orig = 0; var myxpos = 0; function calculate_Time (event) { myxpos = event.pageX; myxpos = myxpos-194; if(myxpos<60) { orig = myxpos; $('#mon_Row').attr("title", orig); } if (myxpos>=60 && myxpos<120) { orig=myxpos; $('#mon_Row').attr("title", orig); } if (myxpos>=120 && myxpos<180) { orig=myxpos; $('#mon_Row').attr("title", orig); Inside the function is the code to generate the tooltip: $('#mon_Row').each(function() { $(this).qtip( { content: { text: false }, position: 'topRight', hide: { fixed: true // Make it fixed so it can be hovered over }, style: { padding: '5px 15px', // Give it some extra padding name: 'dark' // And style it with the preset dark theme } }); }); I know that a new value is being assigned to the cells title attribute because it will display inside the standard small tooltip that a browser will display. The JQuery tooltip will not grab the new value and display it, only the variables initial value when it was called.

  • php - comparing timestamp dates to make sure user is of minimum age

    - by Micheal Ken
When a user signs up the system has to check that they are old enough to do so, in this example they have to be atleast 8 years old $minAge = strtotime(date("d")."-".date("m")."-".(date("Y")-8)); $dob = strtotime($day."-".$month."-".$year); $minAge = 01-03-2004, $dob = 01-02-2011 I basically need to make sure this person was born before 2004 but I want to know whether I have to convert the timestamps to do a comparison or whether there is a more efficient way. Any help is appreciated, thank you

  • Neural Network Inputs and Outputs to meaningful values

    - by Micheal
I'm trying to determine how to transform my "meaningful input" into data for an Artificial Neural Network and how to turn the output into "meaningful output". The way I can always see of doing it is by convering everything to categories with binary values. For example, rather than outputting age, having a 0-1 for <10, a 0-1 for 10 - 19, etc. Same with the inputs, where I might be using for example, hair colour. Is the only way to turn this into input to have Blonde 0-1, Brown 0-1, etc? Am I missing some entire topic of ANNs? Most of the books and similar I read use theoretical examples.

  • DIY LEGO Settlers of Catan Board Mixes Two Geeky Hobbies in One

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
While Settlers of Catan (a modular board game) and LEGO (a modular building system) seems destined to fit perfectly together, the execution of a functional Catan board out of LEGO bricks is tricky. Check out this polished build to see it done right. Courtesy of LEGO enthusiast Micheal Thomas, this Settlers of Catan build overcomes the problem of fitting the numerous modular Catan board pieces together by using an underlying framework to provided a preset pocket for each tile. The framework also doubles as a perfect place to lady down the roads and settlements pieces in the game. Currently the project is listed in LEGO Cuusoo–a sort of LEGOland version of Kickstarter–so pay it a visit and log a vote in support of the project. You can also check out the Michael’s Flickr stream to see multiple photos of the build in order to get ideas for your own Settlers of Catan set. • Fuzzy match in sharepoint search engine?

    - by SeeBees
In sharepoint 2007 sites, we can search for people or other contents. Is the search engine able to do fuzzy match so that "Micheal" can be corrected to "Michael"? If it's possible, does it need extra configuration? I am also writing a custom webpart that uses sharepoint search service, a web service that has url like "http://site/_vti_bin/search.asm". Is it possible to use this service to do fuzzy search as well? Thanks.

  • Does unit testing lead to premature generalization (specifically in the context of C++)?

    - by Martin
Preliminary notes I'll not go into the distinction of the different kinds of test there are, there are already a few questions on these sites regarding that. I'll take what's there and that says: unit testing in the sense of "testing the smallest isolatable unit of an application" from which this question actually derives The isolation problem What is the smallest isolatable unit of a program. Well, as I see it, it (highly?) depends on what language you are coding in. Micheal Feathers talks about the concept of a seam: [WEwLC, p31] A seam is a place where you can alter behavior in your program without editing in that place. And without going into the details, I understand a seam -- in the context of unit testing -- to be a place in a program where your "test" can interface with your "unit". Examples Unit test -- especially in C++ -- require from the code under test to add more seams that would be strictly called for for a given problem. Example: Adding a virtual interface where non-virtual implementation would have been sufficient Splitting -- generalizing(?) -- a (smallish) class further "just" to facilitate adding a test. Splitting a single-executable project into seemingly "independent" libs, "just" to facilitate compiling them independently for the tests. The question I'll try a few versions that hopefully ask about the same point: Is the way that Unit Tests require one to structure an application's code "only" beneficial for the unit tests or is it actually beneficial to the applications structure. Is the generalization code need to exhibit to be unit-testable useful for anything but the unit tests? Does adding unit tests force one to generalize unnecessarily? Is the shape unit tests force on code "always" also a good shape for the code in general as seen from the problem domain? I remember a rule of thumb that said don't generalize until you need to / until there's a second place that uses the code. With Unit Tests, there's always a second place that uses the code -- namely the unit test. So is this reason enough to generalize?

  • Michael Hartl's rails tutorial: reusing sessions resource for multiple User types

    - by ntaj
I'm learning Ruby on Rails through Micheal Hartl's tutorial. In my web application, I require two types of Users, called publishers and subscribers. Currently I have a publishers resource and a subscribers resource. I'd like both of them to be able to use the sessions resource for signin/signout. I'm looking for some direction on how to implement this. Should my publisher and subscriber resource inherit from the User resource, so that, for example, the following code works through polymorphism? def create user = User.find_by_email(params[:session][:email]) if user && user.authenticate(params[:session][:password]) # Sign the user in and redirect to the user's show page. else # Create an error message and re-render the signin form. end end The publisher and subscriber do not have many common fields and different capabilities, so I think they should be modeled as two separate resources, but how to have them share the Sessions resource?

  • Regular Expression .net flavor

    - by user1440109
Dont ask how this works but currently it does ("^\|(.?)\|*$")....kinda. This removes all extra pipes...part one....I have searched all over no anwser yet. I am using VB2011 beta...asp web form......vb coding though! I want to capture special character pipe (|) which is used to seperate words...i.e. car|truck|van|cycle problem is users lead with, trail with, use multiple, and use spaces before and after...i.e. |||car||truck | van || cycle. another example: george bush|micheal jordon|bill gates|steve jobs <-- this would be correct but when I do remove space it takes correct space out. so I want to get rid of whitespace leading, trailing, any space before | and space after | and only allow one pipe (|)....in between alphanumeric of course.

  • C++ match string in file and get line number

    - by Corey
    I have a file with the top 1000 baby names. I want to ask the user for a name...search the file...and tell the user what rank that name is for boy names and what rank for girl names. If it isn't in boy names or girl names, it tells the user it's not among the popular names for that gender. The file is laid out like this: Rank Boy-Names Girl-Names 1 Jacob Emily 2 Michael Emma . . . Desired output for input Michael would be: Michael is 2nd most popular among boy names. If Michael is not in girl names it should say: Michael is not among the most popular girl names Though if it was, it would say: Micheal is (rank) among girl names The code I have so far is below.. I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help. #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> #include <cctype> using namespace std; void find_name(string name); int main(int argc, char **argv) { string name; cout << "Please enter a baby name to search for:\n"; cin >> name; /*while(!(cin>>name)) { cout << "Please enter a baby name to search for:\n"; cin >> name; }*/ find_name(name); cin.get(); cin.get(); return 0; } void find_name(string name) { ifstream input; int line = 0; string line1 = " "; int rank; string boy_name = ""; string girl_name = ""; input.open("/<path>/babynames2004.rtf"); if (!input) { cout << "Unable to open file\n"; exit(1); } while(input.good()) { while(getline(input,line1)) { input >> rank >> boy_name >> girl_name; if (boy_name == name) { cout << name << " is ranked " << rank << " among boy names\n"; } else { cout << name << " is not among the popular boy names\n"; } if (girl_name == name) { cout << name << " is ranked " << rank << " among girl names\n"; } else { cout << name << " is not among the popular girl names\n"; } } } input.close(); }
