• How to Block a HTTP Website along with Its All Subdomain using IPTABLE

  I run a small HTTP web proxy site . We can not modify anything there in Proxy program. Few users mainly use Yahoo Web mail for Spamming and We need to block yahoo web mail access only ( complete yahoo website is also Ok) through our proxy . specially .mail.yahoo.com.. Like - we need to block URL like - http://uk-mg61.mail.yahoo.com http://in-mg61.mail.yahoo.com etc. etc. Note : We generaly open http://mail.yahoo.com in browser - but after loggin in it forwards it to Urls like above but all those are subdomain of mail.yahoo.com My target is if we can get all IP list for all available subdomain of mail.yahoo.com I can block it totally . We can only use IPTABLE ...I know using proxy itself we can check HTTP header and check Host field for .mail.yahoo.com. and block it. Solution : Follwoign what I did using IPtable . I collected IP CIDR block for yahoo mainly for yahoo web mail ( mail.yahoo.com ) as much as possible ( using linux host and whois command ) [ like 66.163.160.0/19 nd 98.136.0.0/14 etc ] and applied follwing command Like iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 66.163.160.0/19 -m state --state NEW -j DROP etc. Things are working fine. user can not access yahoo mail BUT the problem is I need to be updated with the avaialble CIDR YAHOO IP list ... I am ready to do it every week. I collected many from Net... You know theer are countles subdomain of mail.yahoo.com and seems every week Yahoo adding new IP... But what I observed some time user can bypass our rule and the reason obvously all the avaialble Ips are not entered in IPtable yet. What we need to do is enter all Ips of mail.yahoo.co But where do I find all subdomain for mail.yahoo.com I know we can get it from DNS but I must not be allowed to make DNS axfr query. Also doing reverse DNS will have performance issue. I want to know all subdomain of .mail.yahoo.c Can I get it from yahoo site. I have the list of all YAHOO smtp IP....but I need webmail Ip... ( http://public.yahoo.com/carloc/ymail.html ) Can you please share your Idea. Thank you

• How do I make ncat not send a line-feed?

  I'm on Windows 7 Powershell and have ncat from http://nmap.org/ncat/ I'm trying to send "foo" to some network device PS> ncat -u 192.168.1.255 6061 foo but it sends "foo\n" (66 6f 6f 0a) and the line-feed makes the device not recognize the command. there's a -C option to add a carriage return, but that's no help. I made a text file containing "foo" and did PS> cat .\test.txt | ncat -u 192.168.1.255 6061 but that also adds CRLF

• Linux not picking up new partition correctly on emc pseudo device

  Hi We have a database server running oracle rac. We were recently running out of space on the main LUN that it is attached to. I created a new 100GB LUN and concatenated this onto the existing LUN creating a new MetaLUN. After some messing I managed to get linux to recognise the new space. I then created a new partition in on the pseudo device, to use the new space. Previously when I have done this on other system the next step is to create an ASM disk on the new partition and add this disk to the oracle disk group. This however fails. I am aware of various issues with ASM and powerpath, but I don't think this is the issue here. As on while investigating the issue I discovered that one of the underlying logical device is not reflecting the size change. I made a iptables-save , /etc/init.d/netwokring restart... but I still can connect from any IP, any clue ?

  I would like to map ip address to specific localhost interfaces (e.g. 23.45.66.77 = 127.0.3.3). For named hosts I can use the hosts file. Naturally this doesn't work for IP address. This has to work in windows, the only option I've found so far is implementing a TAP/TUN driver like openvpn does. Are there any other options?

• Getting Rails Application Running Under IronRuby Rack

  Anyone else playing with ironruby? I have successfully got the IronRuby.Rails.Example project running on my local machine under IIS 5.1. I am now attempting to get my own demo rails site running in the same way. My web.config is slightly different from the example project. I am attempting to only use what was distributed with IronRuby 1.0 and what I have installed using gems. • Bash script not working as required with xbindkeys

  I made a simple bash script to display a notification whenever my capslock key is pressed. It works fine when I call it like bash capsnotify.sh. The problem now is when I bind my above script to capslock key using xbindkeys tool it doesn't work as required. It shows a notification caps ON when my caps is on but it doesn't show caps OFF notification when my caps is off instead it again shows the caps ON notification. capsnotify.sh #!/bin/bash value=$(xset -q | awk '/Caps/ {print $4}') if [ "$value" == "on" ] then notify-send "caps ON" elif [ "$value" == "off" ] then notify-send "caps OFF" fi .xbindkeysrc "bash /home/ranveer/capsnotify.sh" m:0x2 + c:66 So, the problem is after binding my caps lock key on both events(on/off) it shows caps ON notification.

Using a handy web site (www.network-tools.com) I did a lookup on the IP address and found it was a Google bot trying to crawl the application. In this case, I would expect an exception or 403 since the site requires authentication anyway.

• Extremely slow transfer speed ubuntu -> Windows

  I have two laptops, One is running Ubuntu 12.04 (EXT4) the other is running Windows 7 (NTFS). I am copying over 40gb of data (one file) from the Ubuntu laptop to the Windows Laptop. (Browse the shared folder on Ubuntu using Windows copy/paste) But I am getting transfer speeds topping out at ~700kb/s Surely this is not right. I am transferring via wifi on both laptops. • Can I expand my /boot without upsetting the system?

  This is the current state of my partition table. As can be seen, the boot is very small, and I cant upgrade the kernel, because the update-manager tells me there isnt enough space on /boot :( Which effectively means that I cant update my kernel. Can I change the size of my boot, without necessitating a reinstall of either of the installed system?   I'd like all subdomains that aren't being used for anything else to go straight to my domain. ns1.mydomain.com. A 198.123.44.55 ns2.mydomain.com. A 198.123.44.66 *.mydomain.com. CNAME mydomain.com webdisk.blog.mydomain.com. A 198.123.44.55 However, say I have subdomain blog.mydomain.com which I still want to behave as a normal subdomain. I would like the following to happen: mydomain.com --> mydomain.com www.mydomain.com --> mydomain.com abc.mydomain.com --> mydomain.com blog.mydomain.com --> blog.mydomain.com Is this possible?

• Tumblr is visiting my blog?

  I have created a blog on Tumblr a few days ago. Looking over the statistics, it seems that Tumblr itself is visiting my website, using different browsers. What is this supposed to mean? Are these real visitors or is it a Tumblr bot? One example: Browser: Chrome 32.0 OS: Win8 Resolution: 1024x768 Location: New York, United States IP Address: Tumblr (66.6.40.249) Referring URL: (No referring link) Other browsers used include: Chrome 20.0.1090.0 Firefox 21 Opera 12.14 Chrome 15.0.861.0 Chrome 32.0.1667.0 Internet Explorer 6 Internet Explorer 9 Opera 12 Opera 12.02 They all use the same screen resolution (1024x768) and have no referrer. The flash version is not set, but they do support javascript. Unfortunately, I don't have the full user agent string.

• Wubildr.mbr is missing or corrupted

  I just installed Ubuntu using WUBI. I followed this tutorial and when I select Ubuntu from Windows boot loader, it says wubildr.mbr is missing or corrupted. Then Windows boot manager appears again. I try again. The same error. Then I go to Windows, and checked the wubildr.mbr which is in winboot. It is only 8 kb big. Is that normal? Is it corrupted? And one more thing. When I installed using WUBI, I got that error screenshot on (http://94.140.81.66/error.png)

• Capslock as modifier key for AutoKey

  I want to use Capslock as a modifier key for AutoKey shortcuts, and I've successfully remapped it to its own custom key using the terminal command xmodmap -e 'clear Lock' -e 'keycode 66 = F13'. However, AutoKey seems to only allow the modifiers Ctrl Shift Alt Super when setting shortcuts. As a work-around, could I somehow define the shortcuts within the script itself? Would this even be the most efficient work-around? P.S. I found a relevant page, though I'm not exactly sure how to implement it. P.P.S. I found a cheap way to do this by mapping Capslock to Shift+Alt and then setting all appropriate shortcuts in AutoKey with the modifier Shift+Alt. However, I'd really prefer having Capslock as its own modifier. Any help would be appreciated.
