  • How do I change the Google Chrome offline icon?

    - by user1105047
I am using some offline apps for google chrome and because of this an application indicator pops un in the gnome panel. My problem is that this indicator uses the google chrome default system tray icon and I think it looks ugly with my current theme so I would basically like to change the icon. I can't find the icons that google chrome is using for this purpose but I have no problem finding the other icons used by google chrome and changing them, like the 24x24 or 22x22 icons that you see in the gnome application menu (which by default looks like the application indicator for google chrome). It doens't seem like Google Chrome is taking the icon from e.g /usr/share/icons/ and I can't change the icon by changing the icon theme in like gconf-editor Is there anyway to see the preferences (like you can do with launchers) of the application indicators in the gnome-panel and then locate the indicator icon or change it in another way?

  • How can I fix indicator's behaviour?

    - by iSmite
I recently switched to Ubuntu 11.10 from Windows. The panel has been acting really weird lately. What happens is when I click on sound icon to change volume, the menu for Bluetooth connectivity pops up. When I try to hover over the popped up menu, the latter disappears the moment I move my mouse. It is just not one icon that has been troubling me. When I click on network icon in the panel, it pops-up the menu for Chat and then the popped-up Chat menu just disappears as soon as there is a movement of the mouse. I hope I was able to explain my situation. I am sure you must be aware of this issue. Please advise. Thanks.

  • Video Bug in Ubuntu 12.10 MSI CX623 laptop

    - by user104731
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xyJkS8XjgA&feature=youtu.be I managed to take a video with what happens on my Ubuntu 12.10 laptop when I play with the volume and hover with the mouse over the slider and when I press Ctrl + Alt + D (show Desktop/minimize all) The real bugs are those in which the panel becomes transparent on the down side, exactly above the volume slider (and not only when that slider appears, but also when brightness slider appears, and when blocking my touchpad applet appears) and when I have a maximized window, more maximized windows or a non maximized window that touches the panel, while I use Ctrl+Alt+D (show Desktop/hide all normal windows). Is there a way to solve this bug? PS: The other bugs are from Record My Desktop. I didn't have the mentioned bugs in ubuntu 12.04, but I like more the graphics in 12.10.

  • Oracle SOA Suite customer panel: Successful Application Integration & SOA Projects

    - by Simone Geib
At the recent SOA Suite customer panel, Roger Brown from UNS Energy, Fabio Ravagni from Cencosud and Paras Jain from Cisco discussed their recent SOA Suite implementations, business drivers and challenges, architecture and lessons learned. Roger started by describing how UNS redesigned their internet portal to improve their customer experience and reduce manual steps in their business processes. Through the use of Oracle Service Bus, Oracle BPEL Process Manager and Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, they provided more self-service functionality, automated their business processes and increased the use of their web site by 12.98% for number of visits and 33.58% for average visit duration. The screenshot below shows the UNS architecture: > Next Fabio described the challenges Cencosud faced through continuous expansion of their business, different standards and levels of expertise and large volumes of information. By introducing Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Enterprise Repository, and with the help of Oracle Consulting, they significantly simplified their integration model, reduced their maintenance effort and increased their integration governance. The picture below shows the implemented solution with so far more than 400 services in production and more than 20 ongoing projects, which will make use of the new integration platform. > Last, but not least, Paras discussed the challenges the Webex division of Cisco faced with a highly manual service fulfillment process, multiple data sources and the resulting large room for errror and delay in customer time-to-service. Through a redesign of their order fulfillment process and the introduction of Oracle SOA Suite (see below), they significantly improved their SLAs, eliminated duplicate orders, provided higher visibility into the order process and aligned business and IT. • Synaptic won't launch from menu in panel in fresh Lubuntu minimal desktop 12.04 install

    - by ven42
I performed a fresh install of Lubuntu 12.04 with minimal desktop, as described here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/MinimalInstall. To clarify, I did a command-line install from the Lubuntu alternative install disc, then I did an "apt-get install --no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop". Everything is working fine, except that Synaptic will not run from the menu entry in the panel. I am not prompted for a password, and no window of any sort appears after clicking the menu entry. I installed lxshortcut to see what the shortcut was running, and the command is "synaptic-pkexec". If I type this command into the "Run" menu, I get the same behavior (or lack thereof). I can get Synaptic to open up just fine by typing "gksudo synaptic" at the "Run" menu. Also, if I run "synaptic-pkexec" from the terminal, then I am prompted for my password within the terminal, and after that Synaptic opens normally. Can someone please suggest the right way to get Synaptic working? I could just change the menu entry to "gksudo synaptic", but I'm guessing that it's set to "synaptic-pkexec" for a reason. I have a vague understanding that this pkexec business has something to do with PolicyKit, but I don't really know what PolicyKit is or how to tell if something is broken with it. Thanks.

  • Cinnamon Settings Panel Blank After v 2.0.6

    - by Cinnamon Challenge
After cinnamon upgrade to 2.0.6-20131026040307-precise via synaptic, the "cinnamon settings" gui or window is broken. It appears blank, only showing the configuration category icons for "Appearance", "Preferences", "Hardware", and "Administration". The icons that should be within these categories are gone. I don't know if cinnamon-control-center was removed during the last cinnamon update, but this issue began on Oct. 25. When running cinnamon-settings from terminal, several errors appear such as this: Could not load screen module; is the cinnamon-control-center package installed? /usr/lib/cinnamon-settings/modules/cs_user.py:112: Warning: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed file_icon = Gio.FileIcon().new(file) (cinnamon-settings.py:5471): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkMenuItem, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkMenuItem can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkAccelLabel Could not find network module; is the cinnamon-control-center package installed? cinnamon-control-center is not installed in synaptic, and when the module is marked for installation, unity is selected for removal. Is there any way to get this function back without removing unity? Release: Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) Kernel: 3.2.0-55-generic Desktop: Cinnamon 2.0.6-20131026040307-precise Some settings are still accessible through terminal by appending the name of the function to the command: cinnamon-settings panel cinnamon-settings calendar cinnamon-settings themes cinnamon-settings applets cinnamon-settings windows cinnamon-settings fonts cinnamon-settings hotcorner

  • The battery indicator in Unity panel not showing up

    - by user61415
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with Wubi. Well after being completely dazzled with the amount of free content in the Software Centre, I decided to go deeper and start messing with settings. Well after changing the screen brightness the highest level I noticed that there wasn't an indicator for how much battery was left in my laptop. I looked up online on got 2 suggestions on how to fix: Right click on the Unity panel and add an indicator Set it to show in the power settings menu. Well I did both when I right click at the top menu nothing comes up and setting it to show does nothing either. Then I tried installing something in the Software Centre. I got something but when I activated it it said I had 0% power left even though I was charging and at %100 according the Light in the front of my laptop. So now I'm thinking that it doesn't even recognise my computer as a laptop which is weird because in the display settings it says my screen size is set to laptop. How can I install it? I don't know what version it is other then Ubuntu 12.04 and no matter what the icon does not appear with the

  • Unity on Ubuntu 11.10 - The Dash Home button brings up the panel, but is empty

    - by David M. Coe
The dash home button brings up a panel that is greyed out, but it is totally empty. It seems to be the very same issue as this: Dash home button brings up blank window which is unanswered. /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p returns OpenGL vendor string: X.Org R300 Project OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV370 OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.11 Not software rendered: yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program: yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object: yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: yes I've tried a unity --reset but that doesn't seem to work. Unity seems to reset, but I get the following warning over and over: cs space validation failed unity What should I do next to try and fix this? Edit: Attempted fixes: I've refomatted, did not work. I've done apt-get remove unity then apt-get update then apt-get install unity, did not work. I've switched to Unity 2d and this seems to work. How can I get regualar Unity working or atleast find the error?

  • How to get access to a window that is loaded into a panel

    - by Sandor Drieënhuizen
I'm loading an external script (that creates a new window component) into a panel, which works fine. Now, I want to access the created window from a callback function to register a closed event handler. I've tried the following: panel.load({ scripts: true, url: '/createWindow', callback: function(el, success, response, options) { panel.findByType("window")[0].on("close", function { alert("Closed"); }); } }); However, the panel seems to be empty all the time, the findByType method keeps returning an empty collection. I've tried adding events handlers for events like added to the panel but none of them got fired. So the question is: how do I access the window in the panel to register my close event handler on it?

  • Admin Panel like Custom Framework

    - by bhuvin
I want to Create a Framework , like Admin panel , which can rule almost all the aspects of what is shown on the frontend. For an (most basic) example: If suppose the links which are to be shown in a navigation area is passed from the server, with the order and the url , etc. The whole aim is to save the time on the tedious tasks. You can just start creating menus and start assigning pages to it. Give a url, actual files which are to be rendered (in case of static files.), in case of dynamic files, giving the file accordingly. And all this is fully server side manageable using different portlets, sort of things. So basic Roadmap is having : Areas like: Header Area - Which can contain logos, links etc. Navigation Area - Which can contains links and submenus. Content Area - Now this is where the tricky part is that that it has zones like: left, center & right. It contains Order in which it has to be displayed. So, when someday we want to change the way the articles appear on the page, we can do so easily, without any deployments. Now these zones can have n number of internal elements, like the word cloud, or the advertisement area. Footer Area: Again similar as Header Area. Currently there is a preexisting custom framework, which uses XSLT files for pulling out data from the server side. And it has the above capabilities. For example: If there's a grid it will be having a <table> tag embedded in the XSLT file. Now whatever might be the source of the data, we serialize this as XML and give it to the XSLT file and the html is derived from this and is appended to the layer in a page. The problem with this approach is: The XSLT conversion is occurring on the server side, so the server is responsible for getting the data, running XSLT transform, and append the html generated to the layer div. So, according to me, firstly this isn't the server's concern to do so. Secondly for larger applications this might be slower. Debugging isn't possible for XSLT transformation. So, whenever we face problems with data its always a bit of a trial & error method. Maintaining it is a bit of an eerie job i.e. styling changes, and other stuff. Adding dynamic values. Like JavaScript can't actually be very easily used in this. Secondly, we can't use JQuery or any other libraries with this since this is all occurring on the server. For now what I have thought about is using Templating - Javascript - JSON combination in place of XSLT, this will be offloaded to the client and the rendering will take place accordingly. This could solve the above problems and also could add mobile support for the same. Only problem which I could think of is that: It is much work and adding new portlets on the go needs to be looked into. What could be the alternatives for this? What kind of problems are there with the JavaScript approach? What are the different ways to implement the same? Are there any existing frameworks for similar usage?

  • ASP.Net Panel JQuery SlideToggle Postback

    - by Germ
    I have an asp.net panel with a style which hides it and I'm using JQuery to slideToggle the panel using a hyperlink. This works fine. However, if I add a button on the page that causes a postback the panel will default back to hidden. I understand why this is happening but what is the best way to keep the panels visibility state when a postback occurs? <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script type='text/javascript' src="jquery-1.4.1.min.js"> </script> <style type="text/css"> .panel { display: none; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#Link1").click(function(evt) { evt.preventDefault(); $('#panelText').slideToggle('slow'); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:HyperLink ID="Link1" runat="server" NavigateUrl="#">SlideToggle </asp:HyperLink><br /> <asp:Panel ID="panelText" runat="server" CssClass="panel"> Some text</asp:Panel> <asp:Button ID="button1" runat="server" Text="Postback" /> </form> </body> </html>

  • How to obtain the panel within a treeview (WPF)

    - by sperling
How can one obtain the panel that is used within a TreeView? I've read that by default TreeView uses a VirtualizingStackPanel for this. When I look at a TreeView template, all I see is <ItemsPresenter />, which seems to hide the details of what panel is used. Possible solutions: 1) On the treeview instance ("tv"), from code, do this: tv.ItemsPanel. The problem is, this does not return a panel, but an ItemsPanelTemplate ("gets or sets the template that defines the panel that controls the layout of the items"). 2) Make a TreeView template that explicitly replaces <ItemsPresenter /> with your own ItemsControl.ItemsPanel. I am providing a special template anyways, so this is fine in my scenario. Then give a part name to the panel that you place within that template, and from code you can obtain that part (i.e. the panel). The problem with this? see below. (I am using a control named VirtualTreeView which is derived from TreeView, as is seen below): , use following: -- [sorry folks about poor formatting here, this is my first post, I tried 4 spaces for code... doesn't seem to work?] [I stripped out all clutter here for visibility...] The problem with this is: this immediately overrides any TreeView layout mechanism. Actually, you just get a blank screen, even when you have TreeViewItems filling the tree. Well, the reason I want to get a hold of the panel is to take some part in the MeaureOverride, but without going into all of that, I certainly do not want to rewrite the book of how to layout a treeview. I.e., doing this the step #2 way seems to invalidate the point of even using a TreeView in the first place. Sorry if there is some confusion here, thanks for any help you can offer.

  • paintComponent method is not displaying anything on the panel

    - by Captain Gh0st
    I have been trying to debug this for hours. The program is supposed to be a grapher that graphs coordinates, but i cannot get anything to display not even a random line, but if i put a print statement there it works. It is a problem with the paintComponent Method. When I out print statement before g.drawLine then it prints, but it doesn't draw any lines even if i put a random line with coordinates (1,3), (2,4). import java.awt.*; import java.util.*; import javax.swing.*; public abstract class XYGrapher { abstract public Coordinate xyStart(); abstract public double xRange(); abstract public double yRange(); abstract public Coordinate getPoint(int pointNum); public class Paint extends JPanel { public void paintGraph(Graphics g, int xPixel1, int yPixel1, int xPixel2, int yPixel2) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.black); g.drawLine(xPixel1, yPixel1, xPixel2, yPixel2); } public void paintXAxis(Graphics g, int xPixel, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.green); g.drawLine(xPixel, 0, xPixel, pixelsHigh); } public void paintYAxis(Graphics g, int yPixel, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.green); g.drawLine(0, yPixel, pixelsWide, yPixel); } } public void drawGraph(int xPixelStart, int yPixelStart, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); Paint panel = new Paint(); panel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); panel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); panel.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); frame.setLocation(frame.getToolkit().getScreenSize().width / 2 - pixelsWide / 2, frame.getToolkit().getScreenSize().height / 2 - pixelsHigh / 2); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setResizable(false); frame.add(panel); frame.pack(); frame.setVisible(true); double xRange = xRange(); double yRange = yRange(); Coordinate xyStart = xyStart(); int xPixel = xPixelStart - (int) (xyStart.getX() * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel = yPixelStart + (int) ((xyStart.getY() + yRange) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); System.out.println(xPixel + " " + yPixel); if(yPixel > 0 && (yPixel < pixelsHigh)) { System.out.println("y"); panel.paintYAxis(panel.getGraphics(), yPixel, pixelsWide, pixelsHigh); } if(xPixel > 0 && (xPixel < pixelsHigh)) { System.out.println("x"); panel.paintXAxis(panel.getGraphics(), xPixel, pixelsWide, pixelsHigh); } for(int i = 0; i>=0; i++) { Coordinate point1 = getPoint(i); Coordinate point2 = getPoint(i+1); if(point2 == null) { break; } else { if(point1.drawFrom() && point2.drawTo()) { int xPixel1 = (int) (xPixelStart + (point1.getX() - xyStart.getX()) * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel1 = (int) (yPixelStart + (xyStart.getY() + yRange-point1.getY()) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); int xPixel2 = (int) (xPixelStart + (point2.getX() - xyStart.getX()) * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel2 = (int) (yPixelStart + (xyStart.getY() + yRange - point2.getY()) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); panel.paintGraph(panel.getGraphics(), xPixel1, yPixel1, xPixel2, yPixel2); } } } frame.pack(); } } This is how i am testing it is supposed to be a square, but nothing shows up. public class GrapherTester extends XYGrapher { public Coordinate xyStart() { return new Coordinate(-2,2); } public double xRange() { return 4; } public double yRange() { return 4; } public Coordinate getPoint(int pointNum) { switch(pointNum) { case 0: return new Coordinate(-1,-1); case 1: return new Coordinate(1,-1); case 2: return new Coordinate(1,1); case 3: return new Coordinate(-1,1); case 4: return new Coordinate(-1,-1); } return null; } public static void main(String[] args) { new GrapherTester().drawGraph(100, 100, 500, 500); } } Coordinate class so if any of you want to run and try it out.   • Feature panel hover changer effect

    - by user1519157
Haven't seen this before so hopefully someone has a easy solve, I have a 3 feature panel divs side by side, what I want happen is the 1st panel has a "hover" class added so I can change the background etc and then on a timed interval the hover class jumps to the next panel then the next panel then back to the start on a loop. Also on a side note can you keep the code in mind to be able to add more then 3 feature divs so you could have for example 6 or more or less etc.

  • Will Unity allow users to change the color/appearance of the top-Panel?

    - by Sam
I'm very excited by the functional design principles and keyboard shortcuts that are being implemented for Unity. And function of use is more important to me than looks. However, after experiencing the aesthetic beauty of the display of the top panel in gnome-shell, I was wondering if users would be able to alter the color of Unity's top panel? IMHO it does not look as good as the gnome-shell implementation (or mac OS X/iPad). I think if an alternate color/appearance were chosen for the panel, it would make a big difference aesthetically. Is there a way to make it Black like gnome-shell? Or are the color choices limited to theme-designs as pointed out in this answer? For efficiency and clarity, the Panel should be better differentiated from application controls. The panel should be a different color because it has a "constant (always present) state," unlike application controls. For contrast and easy-recognition, I would like to make the Panel black (like gnome-shell) but make the application controls (e.g., those of Firefox) "Inverted"

  • How I can add JScroll bar to NavigableImagePanel which is an Image panel with an small navigation vi

    - by Sarah Kho
Hi, I have the following NavigableImagePanel, it is under BSD license and I found it in the web. What I want to do with this panel is as follow: I want to add a JScrollPane to it in order to show images in their full size and let the users to re-center the image using the small navigation panel. Right now, the panel resize the images to fit them in the current panel size. I want it to load the image in its real size and let users to navigate to different parts of the image using the navigation panel. I need to upgrade my server PHP version becasue of Wordpress New version not support PHP 5.2. On My server windows 2003 stansard edition x64 with SP1 installed, IIS 6.0, MySQL 4.1, Plesk Panel 8.2. I have follow listed steps on plesk KB. http://kb.parallels.com/6670 How to update PHP 5 on a Windows server with Parallels Plesk Control Panel 8.x and 9.x installed. In order to upgrade PHP 5 to the necessary version (other than shipped with Parallels Plesk), please perform the following steps: Stop Plesk services (‘Control Panel’ and all that are included in the ‘Plesk Run-Time’ section) Rename folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5 to the orig_PleskPHP5 Create a new folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5 Download necessary version of PHP, unzip its content, and copy it to the newly created folder PleskPHP5 Copy the file php.ini from the old folder orig_PleskPHP5 to the new one Make sure the permissions are inherited Start Plesk services Click the "Refresh" button in the Components Management section in Parallels Plesk Panel and check if you can see the new PHP version there After follow steps when I open a PHP info it shows me specified module could not be found. • Gnome Shell Thunderbird Mail Notification

    - by Nerdfest
Does anyone know of a way to get persistent Gnome 3 panel notifications in Gnome 3 in Oneiric? It's one of the few things holding me back from using Gnome 3 regularly. I've actually found a way of moving the notifications from the (usually) hidden bottom bar to the top, but it does not move the Thunderbird icon. The icon also only tends to appear the first time mail is received. I'm very surprised this basic piece of functionality doesn't exist for Gnome Shell.

  • Is there any way to adjust the width of taskbar items on Gnome desktop?

    - by David Thomas
Is there any way in which the width of items on the taskbar (or, rather, the lower panel) of the Gnome (2.32.0) desktop (Ubuntu 10.10) can be adjusted to take a more sensible width? While I can see the icons of the applications they represent, they seem a little over-compressed, given the width of the desktop/monitor resolution (1900 x 1080): Click the image, or this link, for a full-sized (1920x169, 169.7KB) graphic.

  • Deactivate volume amplification?

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I would like to deactivate the amplification feature on my sound volume slider. Using any amplification makes the sound really bad with clipping sounds taking over. It's really annoying to have to worry about where the amplification starts/stops when adjusting the slider from my keyboard or through the Gnome panel (sound thingy). I have to open the "Sound preferences" after each time adjusting the volume and ensure that the level is set to 100% unamplified. So can I do this someway easy in Ubuntu 10.10?

  • How can I show Thunderbird Lightning tasks and events in the Gnome Clock applet?

    - by Niriel
We used to have this functionality with Evolution: clicking on the date-time in the gnome panel would show a list of events/tasks/appointments from the Evolution Calendar. As an interesting side effect, one would receive alarm notifications even when Evolution wasn't running. Now that Thunderbird is the default email client, I'd imagine that there is a similar functionality for Lightning (Thunberbird's calendar). I just can't find it. Maybe it's not ready ?

  • Customize side panel in Internet Explorer 9/Windows 7

    - by Kari
I use Internet Explorer 9 with all the horizontal toolbars except the tab bar invisible to maximize vertical space. I have plenty of room at the side so I have the Favorites/Feeds/History panel open, usually on Favorites to replace the Favorites bar. I'd like to customize the shortcuts in this panel to display as large icons, similar to when you set the display in Windows Explorer to Large Icons and, long shot... change the backround color. The side panel does appear to be just a Windows Explorer window but it seems immune to any kind of tampering or customization, mainly because right clicking is disabled on the empty space. Changing browsers is not going to happen but can someone help out here?
