• Pros and cons of the Google font API

  I am currently using a font from the google font directory on my website. I don't fully understand how it works, but it seems like when someone opens my site, their browser is told to go and fetch the font from Google. (correct me if I'm wrong). Now, what I'm wondering is, what are the pros and cons of this over just specifying a font family the old-school way? Presumably doing it the google font directory way has the advantage that they'll definitely see the font I want them to. (as long as the font directory is up). But does this way have disadvantages? Maybe using fonts that are stored locally speeds up the site loading?

  Bear with me, to be honest I have no idea what Wireless radio portions are.... At my school, I was told my the user support that the wireless network in my dorm uses 801.11 A/B/G/N. For some reason, the wireless in my room doesn't work. However, other buildings use only A/B/G, they say. In any other building, my wireless works fine.   I'm working on a game I intend to sell, and I want to use this font. The license says: "You may NOT copy or distribute the font outside of the licensed household, company, school or institution. Please ask external contacts who want to use the font to purchase their own license at www.CheapProFonts.com." However, my plans are to use a tool to output a texture using this font to use as a bitmap font in my game. Does this mean I can do so, and sell my game with the font in it?

  So for a project for school I had to install the DPJ extension to the Java language. I downloaded and unpacked a tarball containing the files, and then was told to run the following: setenv DPJ_ROOT ${Home}/dpjbin setenv PATH ${PATH}:${DPJ_ROOT}/Implementation/bin How do I do these commands using bash? I know I have to open up the /etc/profile file and add 2 lines (or for the PATH one do I just append something to the top line of the file after a colon?). Any help in how to do this would be appreciated. If it helps I run Ubuntu 14.04 on Virtualbox (and have little to no experience)

Edit: My high school was terrible and did not prepare me for any math. • Beggining OpenGL vs beggining DirectX and some question about the philosophical difference between them

  I'm begginning with Direct X at school, and my teacher said it was harder to begin with than OpenGL, but I read several things that in fact, Direct X was more advanced than OpenGL in terms of recent graphic cards features. Since I'm far from wanting to do top notch effects, which can already be implemented with existing engines and/or shaders, I wanted to know your opinion: Can OpenGL be considered like a more basic, KISS, hardware agnostic, graphic library to just do 3D with acceleration, and consider DirectX like a top notch, game-oriented graphic API that will always support the next-gen 3D chips ? Citation from wikipedia on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_5 : John Carmack mentioned in his keynote at QuakeCon 2007 that the id Tech 5 engine will not be using the DirectX 10 API. I don't want to seem like I'm minding open source because Carmack does and because he is famous, it's just that android and iPhone are out there, and Direct X doesn't seems to me to be the necessary API to know, since Windows supports OpenGL, and since the 360 is just a console among other consoles.

  I didn't learn programming at school and I do not work as a (professional) developer, hence a lot of basics are not quite clear to me. This question tries to clarify one of them. Now let's suppose that I have issues #1, #2 and #3 in my Issues Tracker that are set to be corrected/enhanced for version 1.0.0 and that the last (stable) version is 0.9.0. When should I increment to version 1.0.0 ? When a) just one of the listed above issues is closed or b) when all the issues related to version 1.0 are closed ? Which one is the right way to do it ?   The cursor sometimes goes wild, I get random clicks, the windows are resizing, the cursor disappears. In the worst case, clicks and keyboards are disabled. • Finding Telecommuting Opportunities as a Recent College Graduate

  Reading the answers to hiring practices of remote vs. local employees and freelance programming sites, I would like to add this question to the mix. I am a recent college graduate from an electrical engineering background with 2 years worth of work terms in programming (C, C++, VBA, Matlab, etc.) while I was still in school. While I am interested in learning other software tools (such as Python, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, etc.), I want to use the tools I have now in a telecommuting role while I grow my toolset. Despite having 2 years of work experience (and I've lost track of when I have started programming), my status as a recent college graduate may be an obstacle of my credibility to compete for telecommuting (or in fact any) programming opportunities. I don't know how I can go about finding telecommute programming opportunities for someone with my situation. Overall, many of previous places I've worked at liked my work. What are your suggestions?
