  • How to get the type of the class for comparison

    - by Halo
I have this object which is an instance of a superclass. I want to know which subclass that object really is, so that I can decide what to do with it. There is this getClass() method but it's apparently not used for comparison issues. How can I get the sub-type of my object?

  • Directories with random numbers as foldername being created that contain .ser files

    - by Dur4ndal
Hi all: So in our server there are folders being generated with random names (such as "7nxxd", "tpy16q"). Inside each of these is the same subdirectory structure: <randomfilename>/.tld_cache/WEB-INF/tld/ c.tld/ fn.tld/ spring-form.tld/ fmt.tld/ spring.tld/ tiles-jsp.tld/ Each of these directories has 2 files: crc.ser and des.ser. Why are these files being created? Is there a way to specify the directory that they get written to besides the random name?

  • Having Latest Tests Results info in the notified email with Hudson

    - by Roberto
I have a project with a lot of tests failing, so it would be great for me to receive by email the number of failed tests compare from the latest build. What i need is just the info that appears in the project's page by the test results link: Latest Test Result (10 failures / -2) Is this possible? I've already tried the email-ext plugin, but it is not telling me that info (I can have the list of failing tests with output etc., but I really just need that info above). Any ideas?

  • SVNKit: How to get the repository url from a local path?

    - by StackedCrooked
I would like to implement a method that can get the svn revision number from the path where a SVN repository has been checked out. The method declaration would look something like this: long getRevisionNumber(String localPath) { ... } I'm trying to use SVNKit for this, but it seems to require an SVN URL to start with. Is there any way to start with a local path?

  • No Hibernate Session bound to thread exception

    - by Benchik
I have Hibernate 3.6.0.Final and Spring 3.0.0.RELEASE I get "No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here" If I add the thread specification back in, I get "saveOrUpdate is not valid without active transaction" Any ideas? • Decoding international chars in AppEngine

    - by Irro
I'm making a small project in Google AppEngine but I'm having problems with international chars. My program takes data from the user through the url "page.html?data1&data2..." and stores it for displaying later. But when the user are using some international characters like åäö it gets coded as %F4, %F5 and %F6. I assume it is because only the first 128(?) chars in ASCII table are allowed in http-requests. Is there anyone who has a good solution for this? Any simple way to decode the text? And is it better to decode it before I store the data or should I decode it when displaying it to the user.

  • using Hibernate to loading 20K products, modifying the entity and updating to db

    - by Blankman
I am using hibernate to update 20K products in my database. As of now I am pulling in the 20K products, looping through them and modifying some properties and then updating the database. so: load products foreach products session begintransaction productDao.MakePersistant(p); session commit(); As of now things are pretty slow compared to your standard jdbc, what can I do to speed things up? I am sure I am doing something wrong here.

  • Should I put actors in the Domain-Model/Class-Diagram?

    - by devoured elysium
When designing both the domain-model and class-diagrams I am having some trouble understanding what to put in them. I'll give an example of what I mean: I am doing a vacations scheduler program, that has an Administrator and End-Users. The Administrator does a couple of things like registering End-Users in the program, changing their previleges, etc. The End-User can choose his vacations days, etc. I initially defined an Administrator and End-User as concepts in the domain-model, and later as classes in the class-diagram. In the class-diagram, both classes ended up having a couple of methods like Administrator.RegisterNewUser(); Administrator.UnregisterUser(int id); etc. Only after some time I realised that actually both Administrator and End-User are actors, and maybe I got this design totally wrong. Instead of filling Administrator and End-User classes with methods to do what my Use-Cases request, I could define other classes from the domain to do them, and have controllers handle the Use-Cases(actually, I decided to do one for each Use-Case). I could have a UserDatabase.RegisterNewUser() and UserDatabase.UnregisterUser(int id);, for example, instead of having those methods on the Administrator class. The idea would be to try to think of the whole vacation-scheduler as a "closed-program" that has a set of features and doesn't bother with things such as authentication, that should be internal/protected, being that the only public things I'd let the outside world see would be its controllers. Is this the right approach? Or am I getting this totally wrong? Is it generally bad idea to put Actors in the domain-model/class-diagrams? What are good rules of thumb for this? My lecturer is following Applying UML and Patterns, which I find awful, so I'd like to know where I could look up more info on this described actor-models situation. I'm still a bit confused about all of this, as this new approach is radically different from anything I've done before.

  • Problem using FormLayout in Swing

    - by Dimitri
Hi I am using the FormLayout. I just discovered it and it's powerful layout manager. I would like to layout 4 components (outlined, properties, tgraph, library) in 3 columns. I want to layout my library component on top of the outlined component in one column, the graph and the properties component in one column. But it doesn't work. Maybe I miss something. Here is my code : private void layoutComponent() { JPanel panel = new JPanel(); FormLayout layout = new FormLayout( "right:p,10dlu,300dlu,left:max(50dlu;p)", "top:pref, center:p,p"); layout.setRowGroups(new int[][]{{1,3}}); PanelBuilder builder = new PanelBuilder(layout, panel); builder.setDefaultDialogBorder(); CellConstraints constraints = new CellConstraints(); builder.add(library, constraints.xy(1, 1)); builder.add(outline,constraints.xy(1, 3)); builder.add(tgraph,constraints.xy(3, 1)); builder.add(properties,constraints.xy(4, 1)); getContentPane().add(panel);r code here } Can someone help plz. Thx :)

  • Is there a simpliest way of doing this?

    - by Tom Brito
    Is there a simpler way of implement this? Or a implemented method in JDK or other lib? /** * Convert a byte array to 2-byte-size hexadecimal String. */ public static String to2DigitsHex(byte[] bytes) { String hexData = ""; for (int i = 0; i < bytes.length; i++) { int intV = bytes[i] & 0xFF; // positive int String hexV = Integer.toHexString(intV); if (hexV.length() < 2) { hexV = "0" + hexV; } hexData += hexV; } return hexData; } public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(to2DigitsHex(new byte[] {8, 10, 12})); } the output is: "08 0C 0A" (without the spaces)

  • Invisible JFrame/JTable how much faster ?

    - by chacko
I have a swing app. with a jframe with lots of internal frames containing large JTable. Those jtables get updated continuously so there is lots of repainting going on. in some circumstances I can simply keep the JFrame invisible. (frame.setVisible(false)) I was wondering if anybody knows if I will gain something in terms of performance (something considerable or not) such as 50% gain or you would only get 2% gain... and maybe some sort of explaination on what to expect. thanks

  • javax.activation.DataSource size question

    - by folone
How do I get the amount of physical memory, consumed by the DataSource (specifically — ByteArrayDataSource)? I use ByteArrayDataSource (byte[] bytes, String type) constructor, where I get bytes like this: String str = "test"; byte[] bytes = str.getBytes(); Would that be str.length() in bytes? Any other ideas?

  • Getting Frequency Components with FFT

    - by ruhig brauner
so I was able to solv my last problem but i stubmled upon the next already. So I want to make a simple spectrogram but in oder to do so I want to understand how FFT-libaries work and what they actually calculate and return. (FFT and Signal Processing is the number 1 topic I will get into as soon as I have time but right now, I only have time for some programming exercises in the evening. ;) ) Here I just summarized the most important parts: int framesPerSecond; int samplesPerSecond; int samplesPerCycle; // right now i want to refresh the spectogram every DoubleFFT_1D fft; WAVReader audioIn; double audioL[], audioR[]; double fftL[], fftR[]; ..... framesPerSecond = 30; audioIn= new WAVReader("Strobe.wav"); int samplesPerSecond = (int)audioIn.GetSampleRate(); samplesPerCycle = (int)(audioIn.GetSampleRate()/framesPerSecond); audioL = new double[samplesPerCycle*2]; audioR = new double[samplesPerCycle*2]; fftL = new double[samplesPerCycle]; fftR = new double[samplesPerCycle]; for(int i = 0; i < samplesPerCycle; i++) { // don't even know why,... fftL[i] = 0; fftR[i] = 0; } fft = new DoubleFFT_1D(samplesPerCycle); ..... for(int i = 0; i < samplesPerCycle; i++) { audioIn.GetStereoSamples(temp); audioL[i]=temp[0]; audioR[i]=temp[1]; } fft.realForwardFull(audioL); //still stereo fft.realForwardFull(audioR); System.out.println("Check"); for(int i = 0; i < samplesPerCycle; i++) { //storing the magnitude in the fftL/R arrays fftL[i] = Math.sqrt(audioL[2*i]*audioL[2*i] + audioL[2*i+1]*audioL[2*i+1]); fftR[i] = Math.sqrt(audioR[2*i]*audioR[2*i] + audioR[2*i+1]*audioR[2*i+1]); } So the question is, if I want to know, what frequencys are in the sampled signal, how do I calculate them? (When I want to print the fftL / fftR arrays, I get some exponential formes at both ends of the array.) Thx :)

  • Move the position in JEditorPane

    - by Joe
Hi, I've a JEditorPane inside a JDialog. I'm loading a web page when this JDialog is loading. This web page is larger then the JEditorPane size. So I want to display a certain position in the web page by default. For example, I've a 175x200 size jdialog and JEditorPane. I want to display the web page sontent around 150 pixels down. Is there any solutions for this? Or is there any other component which I can used to display web pages and can move to a certain position of the web page at loading time.

  • Replace carriage returns and line feeds in out.println?

    - by Mike
I am a novice coder and I am using the following code to outprint a set of Image keywords and input a "|" between them. <% Set allKeywords = new HashSet(); for (AlbumObject ao : currentObjects) { XmpManager mgr = ao.getXmpManager(); if (mgr != null) { allKeywords.addAll(mgr.getKeywordSet()); } } //get the Iterator Iterator itr = allKeywords.iterator(); while(itr.hasNext()){ String str = itr.next(); out.println(str +"|"); } %> I want the output to be like this: red|blue|green|yellow but it prints out: red| blue| green| yellow which breaks my code. I've tried this: str.replaceAll("\n", ""); str.replaceAll("\r", ""); and str.replaceAll("(?:\\n|\\r)", ""); No luck. I'd really appreciate some help!

  • Linked List Inserting strings in alphabetical order

    - by user69514
    I have a linked list where each node contains a string and a count. my insert method needs to inset a new node in alphabetical order based on the string. if there is a node with the same string, then i increment the count. the problem is that my method is not inserting in alphabetical order public Node findIsertionPoint(Node head, Node node){ if( head == null) return null; Node curr = head; while( curr != null){ if( curr.getValue().compareTo(node.getValue()) == 0) return curr; else if( curr.getNext() == null || curr.getNext().getValue().compareTo(node.getValue()) > 0) return curr; else curr = curr.getNext(); } return null; } public void insert(Node node){ Node newNode = node; Node insertPoint = this.findIsertionPoint(this.head, node); if( insertPoint == null) this.head = newNode; else{ if( insertPoint.getValue().compareTo(node.getValue()) == 0) insertPoint.getItem().incrementCount(); else{ newNode.setNext(insertPoint.getNext()); insertPoint.setNext(newNode); } } count++; }

  • servlet connection to DB

    - by underW
Initially, after reading books on the subject, I firmly believed that the algorithm for working with a database from a servlet is as follows: create a connection - connect to the database - form a request - send the request to the database - get the query results - process them - close connection - OK. Now, with a better understanding of the practical side, I realized that nobody does it that way, and everything happens through a connection pool according to the following algorithm: initialize the servlet - create a connection pool - a request comes from a user - take a free connection from the pool - form a request - send the request to the database - get the query results - process them - return the connection back to the pool - ok. Now I have this problem: We have 100 users, they are divided into 10 groups, each group has it's own username and password to connect to the database. Moreover, each group may have different rights to the database. How am I supposed to use a connection pool in this situation? If I understand correctly, a pool is nothing more than just a group of similar connections with a single login and password. And here I have 10 pairs of username / password. It looks like I cannot use the pool in this situation. What should I do?

  • Optimize Duplicate Detection

    - by Dave Jarvis
Background This is an optimization problem. Oracle Forms XML files have elements such as: <Trigger TriggerName="name" TriggerText="SELECT * FROM DUAL" ... /> Where the TriggerText is arbitrary SQL code. Each SQL statement has been extracted into uniquely named files such as: sql/module=DIAL_ACCESS+trigger=KEY-LISTVAL+filename=d_access.fmb.sql sql/module=REP_PAT_SEEN+trigger=KEY-LISTVAL+filename=rep_pat_seen.fmb.sql I wrote a script to generate a list of exact duplicates using a brute force approach. Problem There are 37,497 files to compare against each other; it takes 8 minutes to compare one file against all the others. Logically, if A = B and A = C, then there is no need to check if B = C. So the problem is: how do you eliminate the redundant comparisons? The script will complete in approximately 208 days. Script Source Code The comparison script is as follows: #!/bin/bash echo Loading directory ... for i in $(find sql/ -type f -name \*.sql); do echo Comparing $i ... for j in $(find sql/ -type f -name \*.sql); do if [ "$i" = "$j" ]; then continue; fi # Case insensitive compare, ignore spaces diff -IEbwBaq $i $j > /dev/null # 0 = no difference (i.e., duplicate code) if [ $? = 0 ]; then echo $i :: $j >> clones.txt fi done done Question How would you optimize the script so that checking for cloned code is a few orders of magnitude faster? System Constraints Using a quad-core CPU with an SSD; trying to avoid using cloud services if possible. The system is a Windows-based machine with Cygwin installed -- algorithms or solutions in other languages are welcome. Thank you!
