  • UIAlertView choice causing resignFirstResponder to fail

    - by Chazbot
Hi everyone. I'm having a similar issue to Anthony Chan's question, and after trying every suggested solution, I'm still stuck. Somehow, only after interacting with my UIAlertView, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard in another view of my app. It's as though the Alert is breaking my UITextField's ability to resignFirstResponder. Below I instantiate my UIAlertView, which then calls its didDismissWIthButtonIndex method. Then, I call the showInfo method, which loads another UIViewController. UIAlertView *emailFailAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Error" message:@"error message text." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Not now" otherButtonTitles:@"Settings", nil]; [emailFailAlert setTag:2]; [emailFailAlert show]; [emailFailAlert release]; Once the 'Settings' option is pressed, I'm calling this method: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([alertView tag] == 2) { if (buttonIndex == 1){ [self showInfo:nil]; } } } My showInfo method loads the other ViewController, via the code below: - (IBAction)showInfo:(id)sender { FlipsideViewController *fscontroller = [[FlipsideViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FlipsideView" bundle:nil]; fscontroller.delegate = self; fscontroller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:fscontroller animated:YES]; [fscontroller release]; } Upon clicking any textField in this Flipside VC, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard as I normally can with - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)textField, and [textField resignFirstResponder]. I've omitted this code bc this question is getting long, but I'm happy to post if necessary. The interesting part is that if I comment out the [self showInfo:nil] call made when the button is clicked and call it by clicking a test button (outside the alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex: method), everything works fine. Any idea what's happening here? Thanks in advance!

  • WebKitErrorDomain error 101

    - by Nam Young-jun
The following code produces and error of: WebKitErrorDomain error 101 code: -(Void) searchBarSearchButtonClicked: (UISearchBar *) activeSearchBar { NSString * query = [searchBar.text stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString: @ "" withString: @ "+"]; NSURL * url = [NSURL URLWithString: [NSString stringWithFormat: @ "http://http://www.google.com/search?q =%, query]]; NSURLRequest * requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: url]; [Home loadRequest: requestObj]; } -(Void) loadView { [Super loadView]; CGRect bounds = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame: CGRectMake (0.0, 0.0, bounds.size.width, 48.0)]; searchBar.delegate = self; [Self.view addSubview: searchBar]; } I don't speak english and rely on a translator. Because of the language issue could this be a keyboard problem, or an encoding problem?

  • addObjectsFromArray

    - by derek.lo
I have a question about memory management when using the addObjectsFromArray method. Basically, I have 2 arrays defined in the appDelegate. I need these 2 arrays for the duration of my application's runtime. I therefore release them in my appDelegate's dealloc method. When I go to use these two arrays in a class, I want one array to store the values from the other, so that the other can have it's contents removed, but still stick around for use. Something like this: [appDelegate.arrayTwo addObjectsFromArray:appDelegate.arrayOne]; [appDelegate.arrayOne removeAllObjects]; I'm getting the compiler error: EXC_BAD_ACCESS because of a pointer issue? retaining issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  • Pass through touches to portion of UIWebView

    - by cannyboy
I have a UIWebView. Using something like this: http://blog.evandavey.com/2009/02/how-to-make-uiwebview-transparent.html .. I have made the UIWebView transparent. I now need to be able to pass though touches on the webview to the view below, but only on a rectangular portion of the web view. So, imagine the webview is a square, and it has a square area in the centre which must pass-thru touches to the view below. Is there a way to do this?

  • UITableView UITableViewCell dynamic UILabel Height storyboard

    - by Mikel Nelson
This isn'an a question, just a results log on an issue I had with XCode 4.5 storyboards and dynamic height UITableCell with a UILabel. The issue was; the initial display of a cell would only show part of the resized UILabel contents, and that the visual UILabel was not resized. It would only display correctly after scrolling off the top of the Table and back down. I did the calculations in hieghtForRowAtIndexPath and sizeToFit the UILabel in rowAtIndexPath. The sizes where coming up ok in debug, but the device was not updating the display with the correct size and UILable.text value. I had created the dynamic UITableCell in a storyboard. However, I had set the width and height to a nominal value (290x44). It turns out, this was causing my issues. I set the width and height to zero (0) in the story board, and everything started working correctly. (i.e. the UILabels displayed at the correct size with full content). I was unable to find anything online on this issue, except for some references to creating the custom table cell with a frame of zero. Turns out, that was really the answer (for me).

  • How we can perform Action on Sequence UIButtons?

    - by Prince Shazad
As My Screen shot show that i am working on word matching game.In this game i assign my words to different UIButtons in Specific sequence on different loctions(my red arrow shows this sequence)and of rest UIButtons i assign a one of random character(A-Z).when i Click on any UIButtons its title will be assign to UILabel which is in Fornt of Current Section:i campare this UILabel text to below UILabels text which is in fornt of timer.when it match to any of my UILabels its will be deleted.i implement all this process already. But my problem is that which is show by black lines.if the player find the first word which is "DOG". he click the Two UIButtons in Sequence, but not press the Third one in Sequence.(as show by black line).so here i want that when player press the any UIButtons which is not in Sequence then remove the previous text(which is "DO") of UILabel and now the Text of UILabel is only "G" . Here is my code to get the UIButtons titles and assign it UILabel. - (void)aMethod:(id)sender { UIButton *button = (UIButton *)sender; NSString *get = (NSString *)[[button titleLabel] text]; NSString *origText = mainlabel.text; mainlabel.text = [origText stringByAppendingString:get]; if ([mainlabel.text length ]== 3) { if([mainlabel.text isEqualToString: a]){ lbl.text=@"Right"; [btn1 removeFromSuperview]; score=score+10; lblscore.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",score]; words=words-1; lblwords.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",words]; mainlabel.text=@""; a=@"tbbb"; } else if([mainlabel.text isEqualToString: c]){ lbl.text=@"Right"; [btn2 removeFromSuperview]; score=score+10; lblscore.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",score]; words=words-1; lblwords.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",words]; mainlabel.text=@""; c=@"yyyy"; } else if([mainlabel.text isEqualToString: d]){ lbl.text=@"Right"; [btn3 removeFromSuperview]; score=score+10; lblscore.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",score]; words=words-1; lblwords.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",words]; mainlabel.text=@""; d=@"yyyy"; } else { lbl.text=@"Wrong"; mainlabel.text=@""; } }} Thanx in advance

  • Creating an mailto: URL with a URL in the body iPhone SDK

    - by Sjakelien
    UPDATE: I just found a similar post here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/730101/how-do-i-encode-in-a-url-in-an-html-attribute-value Please consider the code below: I try to send an email message from within my iPhone app. The problem I encounter is that I want to put a URL in the body of the email. This URL contains two ampersands. I am encoding all the strings using "stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding", but the URL ends up in my new mail messagd truncated after the first ampersand. IE: "http://www.mydomain.nl/?cm=79&ctime=1246572000&cid=4772" becomes "http://www.mydomain.nl/?cm=79". Any suggestion what I could do to escape? NSString *eMailSubject = @"My Subject"; NSString *encodedSubject = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[eMailSubject stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSString *eMailBody = @"http://www.mydomain.nl?cm=79&ctime=1246572000&cid=4772"; NSString *encodedBody = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[eMailBody stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSString *urlString = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"mailto:?subject=%@&body=%@", encodedSubject, encodedBody]]; NSString *encodedURL = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[urlString stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:encodedURL]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:url];

  • Change storyboard UIImageView to own class with backgroundcolor

    - by Thomas
I want to draw the background image on my own, so I decided to implement a UIImageView class and connect it in the Storyboard. As first task I just want to set the backgroundcolor of the image on my own, but it's never shown. Image just stays blank. That's the class: class FirstBackgroundImage : UIImageView { required init(coder aDecoder: NSCoder) { super.init(coder: aDecoder) self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } override init() { super.init() self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } override required init(image: UIImage!) { super.init(image: image) self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } } That's how i connected it:

  • Xcode 4 Tips and Tricks for Xcode 3 users

    - by Ben Clayton
As most of you have probably seen, Xcode 4 has been released officially today. Now I know that plenty of devs out there have been using the preview versions, and it'd be great if people could post any great tips, tricks, or keyboard shortcuts they've learned using those version now they're no longer under NDA. This could be especially useful for those upgrading from Xcode 3 (like me, downloading right now). Note: Apple have released a 'transition guide' that has plenty of stuff in about getting from version 3 to version 4, but I bet there are loads of great tricks people out there have learned that aren't in there.

  • Increasing width of UISearchDisplayController PopOver Results

    - by George
I have an iPad app that has a UISearchBar in its navigation bar. When I enter text in the search bar the results are automatically displayed in a UIPopOverController. That's great except the popover's default size is not wide enough for my needs. Is there a way to set its width? Apple has done this themselves with Safari's search bar. The popover that displays search results is a good bit wider than the default and they have removed the "Results" title from the popover.

  • How Do I create a synchronous version of NSURLConnection

    - by quinn
I am using NSURLConnection inside of an NSIncrementalStore to synchronize my NSManagedObject with rest based web service built in Rails. I am aware of +sendSynchronousRequest:returningResponse:error but my understanding is that will not allow me to access such things as the HTTP response status code which I will need to properly handle the response, my understanding is sendSynchronousRequest returns the data if it responds in the 200 range and fails if it doesn't and doesn't really give you much more than that. I'm assuming I will somehow have to block the current method call after the NSURLConnection is instantiated and unblock it after NSURLConnection's delegate sets some value that can be returned by the blocked method. I'm assuming this will involve some combination of NSLock and NSThread but I really don't know where to start with this, any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • MonoTouch & SQLite - Cannot open database after previous successful connections

    - by Tanis Draven
I am having difficulty in reading data from my SQLite database from MonoTouch. I can read and write without any difficulty for the first few screens and then suddenly I am unable to create any further connections with the error: Mono.Data.Sqlite.SqliteException: Unable to open the database file at Mono.Data.Sqlite.SQLite3.Open (System.String strFilename, SQLiteOpenFlagsEnum flags, Int32 maxPoolSize, Boolean usePool) [0x0007e] in /Developer/MonoTouch/Source/mono/mcs/class/Mono.Data.Sqlite/Mono.Data.Sqlite_2.0/SQLite3.cs:136 at Mono.Data.Sqlite.SqliteConnection.Open () [0x002aa] in /Developer/MonoTouch/Source/mono/mcs/class/Mono.Data.Sqlite/Mono.Data.Sqlite_2.0/SQLiteConnection.cs:888 I ensure that i dispose and close every connection each time i use it but still i have this problem. For example: var mySqlConn = new SqliteConnection(GlobalVars.connectionString); mySqlConn.Open(); SqliteCommand mySqlCommand = new SqliteCommand(SQL, mySqlConn); mySqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); mySqlConn.Close(); mySqlCommand.Dispose(); mySqlConn.Dispose(); I'm guessing that I'm not closing the connections correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Upgrade live Universal App to iPad only

    - by Alpár
Hi. We have a live universal app in the AppStore. Our client changed his mind and doesn't want the app to be universal anymore, he wants it to be iPad only. Since the app was submitted some time ago, there are users who use the iPhone version. What happens if we submit an upgrade that is iPad only? Will the review team reject it? And if it goes live, will the iPhone users receive a notification about the update? If yes in what form? Or will the iPhone users just be unable to reinstall the app? Thank you!

  • Issue when I'm trying to draw gradient in swift

    - by bagusflyer
I got an error when I was trying to draw gradient in Swift code: GradientView.swift:31:40: Could not find an overload for '__conversion' that accepts the supplied arguments Here is my code: let context : CGContextRef = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext() let locations :CGFloat[] = [ 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 ] let colors = [UIColor.redColor().CGColor,UIColor.greenColor().CGColor,UIColor.blueColor().CGColor, UIColor.yellowColor().CGColor] let colorspace : CGColorSpaceRef = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB() let gradient : CGGradientRef = CGGradientCreateWithColors(colorspace, colors, locations) //CGGradientCreateWithColors(colorspace,colors,locations) let startPoint : CGPoint = CGPointMake(0, 0) let endPoint : CGPoint = CGPointMake(500,500) CGContextDrawLinearGradient(context, gradient, startPoint, endPoint, 0); The problem is the CGGradientCreateWithColors takes CFArray not a normal Swift Array. I have no idea how to convert CFArray to Array and can't find anything in Apple's document. Any idea? Thanks

  • Gobi 2000 WWAN Adapter C#.net SDK

We have some software running on Windows 7 on a mobile device (Panasonic Toughbook) which needs to initiate a 3g connection to download data. The WWAn adapter in question is a Gobi 2000. Is there any way of controlling the adapter direct from .net or should we fall back on Windows to initiate the connection as required (battery life is important).

  • Help with why my app crashed?

    - by Moshe
I'm writing an iPad app that is a "kiosk" app. The iPad should be hanging on the wall and the app should just run. I did a test, starting the app last night (Friday, December 31) and letting it run. This morning, when I woke up, it was not running. I just checked the iPad's console and I can't figure out why it crashed. The iPad was plugged in and so the battery is not the issued. I did disable the idleTimer in my application delegate. The app was seen running as late as midnight last night. I would like to note that my app acts as a Bluetooth server through Game Kit and large portion of the console output is occupied by bluetooth status messages. When I opened the iPad, the app was paused and there was a system alert which prompted me to check an "Expiring Provisioning Profile". I tapped "dismiss" and the alert went away. The app crashed about a second after I dismissed the system alert. Any ideas how I can diagnose this problem? Why would my app crash? Here is my iPad's Console log, as copied from Xcode's organizer. Edit: A bit of Googling lead me to this site which says that alert views cause the app to lose focus. Could that be involved? What can I do to fix the problem? EDIT2: My Crash log describes the situation as: Application Specific Information: appname failed to resume in time Elapsed total CPU time (seconds): 10.010 (user 8.070, system 1.940), 100% CPU Elapsed application CPU time (seconds): 9.470, 95% CPU

  • [Android SDK] Text-To-Speech addSpeech not working properly

    - by arcoraven
Hi, I'm trying to get my Android app to play a .wav file recording of the word "Spinach Salad" whenever it sees that phrase being spoken by TTS. Here's the relevant code: spinach_salad.wav is located in /res/raw prodName = "Spinach Salad" mTts.addSpeech(prodName, "com.example.textextractor", R.raw.spinach_salad); ...and later in the code: mTts.speak("blah blah blah " + prodName, TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); I've also tried: mTts.speak("blah blah blah Spinach Salad", TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); and mTts.speak("blah blah blah", TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); mTts.speak(productName_str, TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); In both cases, I'm just hearing the TTS synthesized audio, rather than my custom .wav file. (On a related note, the last chunk of code sometimes speaks out of order, saying the second line before the first).

I used the tabBar template provided by xcode no modifications.

My main question is: Can you control what happens when a QR code is scanned by a reader that is not your own? (A 'default' action, if you will)
