  • iphone com.apple.product-type.tool

    - by John Smith
Hello I am having trouble compiling a static library for the iPhone. It worked in the past. It keeps saying "target specifies 'com.apple.product-type.tool' but there is no such product for the 'iphoneos' platform. I have rechecked the static compilation flag.

  • Make an iPhone InfoButton light/dark based on color behind it

    - by Paula
How do I detect what color is under the InfoButton... so I can change the button from DARK to LIGHT? I set my view's color... but how do I tell if it's "kind of light" or "kind of dark"? Besides... I can't change the info-button from light to dark anyway. (read only) Ugh. Shouldn't Apple have some kind of a simple "cmdButton.doThisExtremelyCommonThingForMe = TRUE" statement? InfoButtons are useless if you can't even see them. (Or how would I put an image behind the button to make it stand-out more?)

I write custom jabber client in iphone. I use xmppframework as engine. And I have UITableViewController with NSMutableArray for repesent contact list. When i receive(or somebody change it contents) roster (aka contact list) i wanna change UITableView items (add/remove/modify). So if User work with listView at time when list updates by [items addObject:newItem]; [self.tableView reloadData]; user lost current selection item. • Union with LINQ to XML

    - by Ryan Riley
    I need to union two sets of XElements into a single, unique set of elements. Using the .Union() extension method, I just get a "union all" instead of a union. Am I missing something? var elements = xDocument.Descendants(w + "sdt") .Union(otherDocument.Descendants(w + "sdt") .Select(sdt => new XElement( sdt.Element(w + "sdtPr") .Element(w + "tag") .Attribute(w + "val").Value, GetTextFromContentControl(sdt).Trim()) ) );

  • Accessing Private Frameworks to see what they do...

    - by Moshe
I am investigating the UIFont thing on iPhone. (You can't easily use custom fonts.) I was wondering if the peeking at the Quarts drawing methods would help. The issue is, i don't know where to look or how to access that information. Where can I find the framework headers? Also, I was wondering where the iPhone stores the Fonts. (Path to them...)

  • Custom uitoolbar gets partly hidden

    - by Jakub
I'd like to add a custom UIToolbar to my UIViewController. In Interface Builder I add the uitoolbar at the top of my view, and it looks just fine. However, when I run the app in the Simulator it gets hidden by the default iphone bar (this one with the clock, battery status, etc.). Here you can see how it looks like: Any ideas?

  • Where specifically do UIImageWriteToSavePhotosAlbum or UISaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum save thei

    - by Chris Markle
Simple question I think and I'll be trying ot myself to see... When people talk about using UIImageWriteToSavePhotosAlbum or UISaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum is the "saved photos album" the "Camera Roll" or the "Photo Library" (or something else either than these two) that I see in the Photo Albums application? I don't think the doc makes it super-explicit as to which it is...

  • UITableView titleForHeaderInSection prints headers to console twice then crashes

    - by joec
In the method below titleForHeaderInSection, for some reason the NSLog prints out the headers twice and then the app crashes in objc_msgSend. I can't understand why this would cause the app to crash? It would seem from research that crashes in objc_msgSend are caused by sending messages to already freed objects, but is that the case here? My sectionNames array is populated in viewDidLoad. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { NSString *title = nil; title=[sectionNames objectAtIndex:section]; NSLog(title); return title; } Thanks

  • Detecting iPhone camera orientation

    - by Stephen Petschulat
I'm getting inconsistent results depending on whether I get the image directly from the camera in the callback or choosing it from the camera roll. In the UIImagePickerControllerDelegate callback method, the UIImage.imageOrientation comes up as UIImageOrientationRight no matter how the photo is taken. When reading it off the Camera Roll, a landscape shot (turned left) comes up UIImageOrientationUp while a portrait shot comes up UIImageOrientationRight. How can I reliably get the camera orientation in both situations?

  • Popping UIView crashes app

    - by Adun
I'm basically pushing a UIView from a UITableViewController and all it contains is a UIWebView. However when I remove the UIView to return back to the UITableView the app crashes. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. if (indexPath.row == websiteCell) { NSString *urlPath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://%@", exhibitor.website]; WebViewController *webViewController = [[WebViewController alloc] initWithURLString:urlPath]; // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.parentViewController presentModalViewController:webViewController animated:YES]; [webViewController release]; } } If I comment out the [webViewController release] the app doesn't crash, but I know that this would be a leak. Below is the code for the Web Browser: #import "WebViewController.h" @implementation WebViewController @synthesize webBrowserView; @synthesize urlValue; @synthesize toolBar; @synthesize spinner; @synthesize loadUrl; • NSFetchedResultsController titleForHeaderInSection with formatted NSDate

    - by Daniel Granger
In my Core Data app I am using a FetchedResultsController. Usually to set titles for headers in a UITableView you would implement the following method like so: - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[<#Fetched results controller#> sections] objectAtIndex:section]; return [sectionInfo name]; } where [sectionInfo name] returns a NSString. my sectionKeyPath is based on an NSDate and this all works fine apart from the section headers it gives me are the raw date description strings (e.g. 12/12/2009 12:32:32 +0100) which look a bit of a mess in a header! So I want to use a date formatter on this to make a nice header like "Apr 17 2010" but I can't do that with the [sectionInfo name] as this is NSString! Any Ideas? Many Thanks

  • when is a push notification old?

    - by hookjd
I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.

  • Add UITabBar Control!

    - by Taimur Hamza
hi, I m stuck in a really simple problem. And i m afraid my question might annoy some people. The problem i am facing in short is that i want to add UITabBar Control to my iphone application other than the main screen. Let me explain, I have done everything successfully Added UItabbar control from IB in the main window's xib, added a variable at the back end , associated it by dragging the line. Also added a UIWindow variable and wrote these lines . [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; when i launch the application a blank window appears and tab bar shows on its bottom. But the problem i dont want to add it to a particular window which is inside my app. Its no the first screen of my app. Its actually the 3rd screen of my app. Can anybody help ? thanks Taimur

  • iPhone UITableView trigger a parent method?

    - by MidnightLightning
Okay, so I'm working on an iPhone app with a preferences-esque section where there's a base TableView, which has one section, and several rows of customized cells to hold a name and a value label. Clicking on a row brings up another View, which allows the user to pick from a list (another TableView), and select an item. All of these TableViews are done programatically. The base TableView has a property that holds a Controller instance for each of the "pick from the list" Views. Each of the "pick from the list" views has a property called chosenValue that has the currently-selected option. I've gotten the UI to handle the didSelectRowAtIndexPath to update the chosenValue property and then "pop" the view (going back to the main TableView). But, even though the main TableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath method references the chosenValue property of the subview that's held in a property, the view doesn't update when an item is selected. In short, how can the sub-view trigger a reloadData on the parent object, after it "pops" and unloads?

  • Are primitive types garbage collected in Android?

    - by snctln
I know this may be a dumb question, but my background is more in c++ and managing my own memory. I am currently cutting down every single allocation that I can from one of my games to try and reduce the frequency of garbage collection and perceived "lag", so for every variable that I create that is an Object (String and Rect for example) I am making sure that I create it before hand in my constructor and not create temporary variables in simple 10 line functions... (I hope that makes sense) Anyways I was working though it some more tonight and I realized that I may be completely wrong about my assumption on garbage collection and primitive types (int, boolean, float) are these primitive type variables that I create in a 10 line function that gets called 20 times a second adding to my problem of garbage collection? So a year ago every few seconds I would see a message in logcat like GC freed 4010 objects / 484064 bytes in 101ms Now I see that message every 15-90 seconds or so... So to rephrase my question: Are primitive types (int, float, boolean, etc) included when seeing this message?
