  So I followed the "Chroot and Debian" tutorial in http://sublimation.org/scponly/wiki/index.php/FAQ Then when I log into user "upload" via ssh I have no access to the command line (this is what I wanted). But then when I SFTP into the upload user I can still see all the root files (/), it didn't chroot me to just /home/upload whats going on? …. I added this to the end of my /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, then done a restart Subsystem sftp internal-sftp UsePAM yes Match User upload ChrootDirectory /home/upload AllowTCPForwarding no X11Forwarding no ForceCommand internal-sftp Then when I log into sftp I can only see my upload folder (this is what I want), but now scp doesn't work :P SCP will accept my password then: debug1: Next authentication method: password [email protected]'s password: debug1: Authentication succeeded (password). debug1: channel 0: new [client-session] debug1: Requesting [email protected] debug1: Entering interactive session. debug1: Sending environment. debug1: Sending env LANG = en_NZ.UTF-8 debug1: Sending command: scp -v -t /test It will hang on that last debug message. • 2 routers at home- how to connect with VNC?

  I have two routers at home. First router is upstairs and is connected to the cable modem. 2nd router is downstairs and acts as "signal booster" for the 1st router. Devices connected to the upstairs router have IP addresses of the form 192.168.1.n Devices connected to the upstairs router have IP addresses of the form 192.168.2.n. I blindly followed instructions from a website to do this set up, just glad it works! Upstairs I have a PC running Win 7 64 bit. Its assigned IP is 192.168.1.7. I have a VNC viewer running on this. Downstairs I have a 2nd PC running Vista 32 Home edition bit that is connected to the 2nd router and has IP Address 192.168.2.114. VNC server is running on this. It's listening on 5900. There is no firewall. When I try to connect to this downstairs PC from upstairs it fails with message "Failed to connect to server". I cannot ping to this either. If I try to connect to this downstairs PC using VNC Viewer from another computer that's connected to the same downstairs router then it works like a charm. So what's the work around if the viewer is on a different "network"? I don't have any problems doing remote desktop connection from the downstairs PC to the upstairs PC even if they are connected to different routers. Router information- Upstairs- ASUS RTN13U, downstairs- DD-WRT v24 RC-5 Thanks! P.S. • What is wrong with my home network? (Routing and connection issues)

  I have a corporate laptop that was provided to me by a client and I'm having some rather odd difficulties with it when I put the laptop on my home network. When I first brought the machine home it behaved like any other laptop. Once it was connected to the network it was assigned an IP address and I could remote into it just fine using the machine name. Lately though, whenever I put this laptop on my network I am not able to ping or RDP into the machine as the host name doesn't properly resolve. Additionally I'm able to see the device and it's assigned IP address clearly in my router firmware. This gets even more strange as now when I try to ping it's IP address listed in my router, I see that it's actually trying to ping my own machine (screenshot of this very odd event below). This has actually driven me crazy to the point that I have actually replaced my router (it was behaving oddly in other ways), and I'm continuing to have these problems. The above ping capture is from the new router. As far as network goes I am now currently using an NetGear R7000 Nighthawk and I haven't customized any of the networking settings in the router just yet (installed yesterday). I would appreciate any advice possible and would be happy to provide further diagnostic information. Networking isn't my strong suit, so I'm not even sure where to begin unraveling this thing.

• Problem with bluetooth on android 2.1 (samsung spica i5700) where pairing works but connection does

  I have a Samsung Spica i5700 which I already have updated to Android 2.1. I am using the phone with an application called Run.GPS (http://www.rungps.net). This application logs data such as GPS position, route, speed, bearing etc. It can also log heartrate provided the user has a Zephyr HxM bluetooth heart rate monitor ("HxM"), which I do have. I can pair the HxM to the phone through the standard bluetooth utility. I'm prompted for the PIN, which I enter and the device is shown as 'Paired but not connected'. In the Run.GPS application itself, I click on 'Connect Heartrate Monitor'. This times out after about 30 seconds and the error message is 'Could not connect to heartrate monitor. Please try other settings'. I used a friend's HTC Windows Mobile as a control device to see if the HxM works there. It does. The Run.GPS application automatically sets the baud rate (initially to 9600 IIRC, though the connection also worked with higher baud rates) and it is possible to choose between various COM ports as well as a .Net COM port. I did some testing on my Spica Android, to try to find out why the bluetooth connection doesn't work. Below are some log files that I connected over adb when I clicked on 'Connect to Heartrate Monitor' in the Run.GPS application. I would be interested in any tips (including if I'm posting to the wrong forum here ;-)) - whether or not it's possible to experiment with the baud rate in Android etc. I still don't know if the problem is with the Run.GPS application (I've posted already on the development forum there) or with Android 2.1. I checked out another application - Endomondo - which is also a sport tracking application which supports heartrate monitor only with the HxM. There, what looked like exactly the same error occurred - I clicked on 'Connect Zephyr HxM'. For a few seconds I was shown the 'Connecting...' status, but then it timed out into 'Not Connected'. I'm thus tending towards looking at Android for the problem. • Can't connect to WCF service on Android

  I am trying to connect to a .NET WCF service in Android using kSOAP2 (v 2.1.2), but I keep getting a fatal exception whenever I try to make the service call. I'm having a bit of difficulty tracking down the error and can't seem to figure out why it's happening. In summary, the first problem was the program being unable to open a connection due to missing methods or libraries due to using vanilla kSOAP2 rather than a modified library for Android (kSOAP2-Android). The second issue was a settings issue. • Injection with google guice does not work anymore after obfuscation with proguard

  Has anyone ever tried to combine the use of google guice with obfuscation (in particular proguard)? The obfuscated version of my code does not work with google guice as guice complains about missing type parameters. This information seems to be erased by the transformation step that proguard does, even when the relevant classes are excluded from the obfuscation. • User Independant Share Folder

  At the moment, I have a folder in my home directory that is shared on my laptop and can also be accessed by the other windows desktop pcs in my network but now I have decided to make my home folder inaccessible by other users on my laptop so other people cannot look at my files if they have a user on my laptop. I set the permissions to none for everyone apart from me. I then changed the share folder (/home/elliot/Shared) to allow all access but my windows computers and other users on my laptop cannot access it even though they have the right permission, I think this is because they don't have access to the home folder in which the Shared folder is stored. Where should I store a new Shared folder on my laptop? Should I put it as /home/Shared? Or, alternatively is there a way I can allow other users to access my /home/elliot/Shared folder even if /home/elliot is inaccessible? Thanks in advance, ell.

• Getting a KeyError in DB backend of django-digest

  I have just started to integrate django_digest into my app. As a start I have added the @httpdigest decorator to one of my views. If I try to connect to it I get a KeyError exception thrown in django_digest/backend/db.py . Depending on which db I configure I get a different KeyError in a different location. I am using Django 1.2.1, with MySql (also tested with sqlite). I am using the default values for all the settings options. As far as I can see I have followed all instructions but am struggling all day with this. I am using the repository versions of django-digest and python-digest. Any steer would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks to a cool tip from Steven Yi (here in the comments to a blog entry), I was able to make a totally pointless but fun set of draggable and resizable editors: What you see above are two JEditorPanes within JPanels. The JPanels are within ComponentWidgets provided by the NetBeans Visual Library, which is also where the special border comes from. The ComponentWidgets are within a Visual Library Scene, which is within a JScrollPane in a TopComponent. Each editor has this, which means the NetBeans Java Editor is bound to the JEditorPane: jEditorPane1.setContentType("text/x-java"); EditorKit kit = CloneableEditorSupport.getEditorKit("text/x-java"); jEditorPane1.setEditorKit(kit); jEditorPane1.getDocument().putProperty("mimeType", "text/x-java"); A similar thing is done in the other JEditorPane, i.e., it is bound to the XML Editor. While the XML Editor also has code completion, in addition to syntax coloring, as can be seen above, this is not the case for the JEditorPane bound to the Java Editor, since the JEditorPane doesn't have a Java classpath, which is needed for Java code completion to work.

  Able to do the custom ldap authentication for external db authorities.   Hi, I am trying to install Subclipse plugins for eclipse IDE. I have installed it but on restart of the IDE , it throws up the following error. Failed to load JavaHL Library. • NetBeans 7.1 Release Candidate (RC) 1 is here

  NetBeans 7.1 RC 1 is here. Grab it from the usual place! As previously discussed, NetBeans 7.1 has full JavaFX 2.0 support but also a lot in store for Java EE and Web developers (CDI in particular is very neat). One of my personal favorite feature is that Deploy on Save is now set by default on Maven projects. Maybe one important part that didn't get proper coverage so far is CSS 3 support, an important feature which can be used from both Java EE and PHP but also from JavaFX. Java Downloads of NetBeans 7.1 start at 69 MB and a 166 MB download will get you everything you need to start coding right away with Java EE - a great tool and a fully integrated runtime (GlassFish 3.1.1). You really need to be not using Maven, not be interested in recent standards (Java EE 6, Java SE 7, Java FX 2.0, ...) and like to hand-craft assemble your IDE to afford ignoring NetBeans nowadays.
