• Problems requesting the LDAP: The server is unwilling to process the request.

  We have written an authentication provider for a SharePoint web application which can requests multiple LDAP directories. One of the LDAP server have to be requested via SSL. So we imported the CA certificate which was used to sign the LDAP server's certificate into the certificate store of the SharePoint server. The following code snippet shows how we authenticate an user. The passed credentials (account, password) belong to the user we want to authenticate. var entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://<ldap-server-address>", "cn=account,ou=sub,o=xyz,c=de", "password", AuthenticationTypes.SecureSocketsLayer); var searcher = new DirectorySearcher(entry); var found = searcher.FindOne(); When the code is processed, the call to searcher.FindOne() throws following exception. System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80072035): The server is unwilling to process the request What circumstance can lead to this error? UPDATE: I found some information about the error message. There the problem seems to be the certificate store, as the user has only stored the certificate in the in the user's store and not in the computer's store. Unfortunately we've already stored it there. So could this be still a certificate issue? UPDATE/SOLUTION: Actually the problem is solved. It seems as if the root CA certificate was imported correctly but the error messages the LDAP server responded was caused by an expired user account our customer gave us for testing.

  I deployed some SSRS reports created in Visual Studio 2008 to localhost:8080/ReportServer. ( Using VS 2008 .NET , Version 9.0.21022.8, SQL Server 2008 and XP Prof.) Calling them in the Webbrowser works fine, but now I'm trying to use them in an ASP.NET app with ReportViewer in VS 2008 and using local ASP.NET Development Server. • javax.naming.InvalidNameException using Oracle BPM and weblogic when accessing directory

  We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. When the server cluster starts, one of the managed servers (the first to start) get overloaded and ran out of connections to the directory DB because of this repeatedly error. It looks like the engine is trying to get the info from the LDAP server but I don't know why it is building a wrong query. fuego.directory.DirectoryRuntimeException: Exception • How can one setup a version control system on a local network, without a server?

  Edit: Ok so I learned that I guess I need an distributed source control, however are there any UI based ones, and do they allow you to merge with other users on the network? This is kind of a two part question, so here it goes. I want to start developing a web application at home (with multiple developers). However, I don't have a dedicated server nor want to pay for on. So first, I don't know which version control system to use for this case, as at work we mostly have TFS setup, so I am not to familiar with whats out there. What are the best free CVS/SVN tools out there? Second, is it possible to somehow setup the CVS/SVN where there is no dedicated server and both clients store up to one week of the source code from the last check-in? Also, it would be helpful if it could integrate with visual studio, again this isn't that important at all. Problem: There are Five users, one is a Server. Server Connected: All Ok Server Disconnected: No one can share. What I am looking for: No Server: Users still have versioning based on version id of last check-in. Users must check all version on network to make sure they aren't outdated based on their last version id. If not check-in, otherwise merge/get latest. If they are update checkin, and set current version id +1.

• Why does Fabric display the disconnect from server message for almost 2 minutes?

  Fabric displays Disconnecting from username@server... done. for almost 2 minutes prior to showing a new command prompt whenever I issue a fab command. This problem exists when using Fabric commands issued to both an internal server and a Rackspace cloud server. Below I've included the auth.log from the server, and I didn't see anything in the logs on my MacBook. Any thoughts as to what the problem is? Not sure if this is related, but it is a thought since I run my fabfiles from within a virtualenv.

  First of all i am new to networking so i may say dumb thing in here. Considering a client-server application using sockets(.net with c# if that matters). The client sends some data, the server process it and sends back a string. The client sends some other data, the serve process it, queries the db and sends back several hundreds of items from the database The client sends some other type of data and the server notifies some other clients . My question is how to set the buffer size correctly for reading/writing operation. Should i do something like this: byte[] buff = new byte[client.ReceiveBufferSize] ? I am thinking of something like this: Client sends data to the server(and the server will follow the same pattern) byte[] bytesToSend=new byte[2048] //2048 to be standard for any command send by the client bytes 0..1 ->command type bytes 1..2047 ->command parameters byte[] bytesToReceive=new byte[8]/byte[64]/byte[8192] //switch(command type) But..what is happening when a client is notified by the server without sending data? What is the correct way to accomplish what i am trying to do? Thanks for reading.

  I am publishing content from a Drupal CMS to static HTML pages on another domain, hosted on a second server. Building the HTML files was simple (using PHP/MySQL to write the files). I have a list of images referenced in my HTML, all of which exist below the /userfiles/ directory. cat *.html | grep -oE [^\'\"]+userfiles[\/.*]*/[^\'\"] | sort | uniq Which produces a list of files http://my.server.com/userfiles/Another%20User1.jpg http://my.server.com/userfiles/image/image%201.jpg ... My next step is to copy these images across to the second server and translate the tags in the html files. I understand that sed is probably the tool I would need. • Email server; Is this method spam-safe?

  I have a classifieds website, and on each classified there is a tip-form where users may tip a friend about the classified. The tip-forms' action is set to a php-page, which mails the email after sanitizing etc... I have to filter away spam etc so that my email-server don't get blacklisted or anything... I have my own server (VPS, Linux) and have thought about a solution... How does this sound to you: 1- Install a mail-server 2- Configure Firewall to ONLY allow connections to the mail-server from my website 3- Configure the mail-server so that a maximum of 'x' emails may be sent every 5 minutes or so 4- Create a php filter before sending the mail, which checks for 'bad' words. 5- If necessary, as last resort, ask the user a question (ex 5+5) before submitting form I would rather preferr if I didn't have to implement the 5th implementation above... What do you think? Also, another q I have that you may answer is: If an email-server gets blacklisted, is there any way to un-blacklist it? Or whats the solution if this happens? Thanks

Question: Is there anywhere else i have to include the postgre? While creating GWT project i did not uncheck app engine. is it a problem? can someone tell me what i am doing wrong? • How to Configure Windows Machine to Allow File Sharing with DNS Alias

  I have not seen a single article posted anywhere online that brings together all the settings one would need to do to make this work properly on Windows, so I thought I would post it here. To facilitate failover schemes, a common technique is to use DNS CNAME records (DNS Aliases) for different machine roles. Then instead of changing the Windows computername of the actual machine name, one can switch a DNS record to point to a new host. This can work on Microsoft Windows machines, but to make it work with file sharing the following configuration steps need to be taken. Outline The Problem The Solution Allowing other machines to use filesharing via the DNS Alias (DisableStrictNameChecking) Allowing server machine to use filesharing with itself via the DNS Alias (BackConnectionHostNames) Providing browse capabilities for multiple NetBIOS names (OptionalNames) Register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs) for other Windows functions like Printing (setspn) References 1. The Problem On Windows machines, file sharing can work via the computer name, with or without full qualification, or by the IP Address. By default, however, filesharing will not work with arbitrary DNS aliases. To enable filesharing and other Windows services to work with DNS aliases, you must make registry changes as detailed below and reboot the machine. 2. The Solution Allowing other machines to use filesharing via the DNS Alias (DisableStrictNameChecking) This change alone will allow other machines on the network to connect to the machine using any arbitrary hostname. (However this change will not allow a machine to connect to itself via a hostname, see BackConnectionHostNames below). Edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and add a value DisableStrictNameChecking of type DWORD set to 1. Allowing server machine to use filesharing with itself via the DNS Alias (BackConnectionHostNames) This change is necessary for a DNS alias to work with filesharing from a machine to find itself. This creates the Local Security Authority host names that can be referenced in an NTLM authentication request. To do this, follow these steps for all the nodes on the client computer: To the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0, add new Multi-String Value BackConnectionHostNames In the Value data box, type the CNAME or the DNS alias, that is used for the local shares on the computer, and then click OK. Note: Type each host name on a separate line. Providing browse capabilities for multiple NetBIOS names (OptionalNames) Allows ability to see the network alias in the network browse list. Edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and add a value OptionalNames of type Multi-String Add in a newline delimited list of names that should be registered under the NetBIOS browse entries Names should match NetBIOS conventions (i.e. not FQDN, just hostname) Register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs) for other Windows functions like Printing (setspn) NOTE: Should not need to do this for basic functions to work, documented here for completeness. We had one situation in which the DNS alias was not working because there was an old SPN record interfering, so if other steps aren't working check if there are any stray SPN records. You must register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs), the host name, and the fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) for all the new DNS alias (CNAME) records. If you do not do this, a Kerberos ticket request for a DNS alias (CNAME) record may fail and return the error code KDC_ERR_S_SPRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN. To view the Kerberos SPNs for the new DNS alias records, use the Setspn command-line tool (setspn.exe). The Setspn tool is included in Windows Server 2003 Support Tools. You can install Windows Server 2003 Support Tools from the Support\Tools folder of the Windows Server 2003 startup disk. • How to bypass firewall to connect to a proxy server?

  I am conducting a small experiment on my office network. I have setup a proxy server on my desktop machine (connected to my LAN) and I have volunteers access the internet via my proxy server. Everything is working well. The problem is people cannot connect to the proxy server through their laptops. I asked my network admin and he said the wireless network has a firewall which prevents users from connecting to my proxy. He said I could tunnel the traffic or use SSH though. I am afraid I do not understand fully what is going on. Is there a way by which users connected on the wireless network can connect to my desktop? I am using FreeProxy on Windows as my proxy server: http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/index.php?page=download FreeProxy allows me to create a SOCKS 4/4a/5 proxy. Is that what I need? Part of the experiment involves logging the URL requests of the users. I am doing a measurement study. So, any solution must allow me to log the URL requests of users. Also, what changes do I need to make in the browser configuration.

  I've generated rsa keys with cygwin ssh-keygen and copied them to the server with ssh-copy-id -i id_rsa.pub [email protected] I've got the following settings in my /etc/ssh/sshd_config file RSAAuthentication yes PubkeyAuthentication yes AuthorizedKeysFile .ssh/authorized_keys PermitRootLogin yes When I ssh [email protected] it still prompts for a password. The output below from /usr/sbin/sshd -d says that a matching keys was found in the .ssh/authorized_keys file, but it still requires a password from the client. I've read a bunch of web postings about permissions on files and directories, but nothing works. Is it possible to ssh with keys in RHEL 6.1 or is this forbidden? • Windows: How to make programs think they're not running in a terminal server session?

  I am using the program "SoftXPand 2011 Duo" by Miniframe on my Windows 7 PC. It makes two workstations out of one computer. It uses the terminal services built into Windows to create the additional session. I use two screens, two keyboards and two mice to create this "illusion" of two computers. It works quite well and I can even play two different 3D games on the two screens attached to this single machine (using a Radeon HD5770 and a Core i5 2500k with 8 Gbytes RAM). There are a few downsides to this. I just found about one that is hidden on the first look. The sessions you are in (even on the first workstation) will identify as a terminal server session! Now some programs will run with limited effects (graphical), and some won't run at all. This also resulted in some games not running at all. They just say "Cannot be run in a terminal server session" and exit. I have already proven that top modern games (DirectX 10, 11) run just as good as on the same machine without SoftXPand, so this is a pretty artificial limitation! So, can I somehow hack my current session so it doesn't look like a terminal server session anymore? I. • How do I change the Dropbox directory on a headless GNU/Linux server?

  I have installed Dropbox 2.0.0 via command line on my home server (Ubuntu Server 12.04) to use for off-site automated backups, but I can't change the directory that the Dropbox daemon keeps synced. I've tried the following: The official docs say to use the desktop application, which is not applicable in my situation. However I installed the desktop app on my desktop machine and changed the default folder location, but I can't find where this change is stored in the ~/.dropbox/ directory so I can make the same change on the server. This page (and several others) recommends a Python script to do the job. Looking at the script, it opens a SQLite database called ~/.dropbox/dropbox.db, which does not exist on my Dropbox install, leading me to believe the script is out-of-date. This forum thread suggests manually inserting the required row in the config.db database, which I did, but it made no difference. I checked the same database file on my desktop machine, and it does not have the dropbox_path key, so I'm presuming the information in that thread is also out of date for version 2.0. I have tried to launch the Dropbox GUI configuration wizard over SSH with X11 forwarding, as suggested in one of the answers, but the binary must detect the absence of a local X11 install and it starts a command line daemon instead, which provides no means to change the option I need. I am currently using a symlink, as suggested as an answer, but this is a kludge. I would like to know the correct way to make the change. How do I change the Dropbox directory on a headless GNU/Linux server? Update: I've ditched Dropbox and started using Copy. Their Linux tools and support is far superior to Dropbox. I leave this question here in case someone, someday, can answer it.

• Print over remote CUPS server, but just show a subset of the printers.

  I'd like to print from my Ubuntu laptop (karmic) to some networked printers. Our organisation uses a CUPS server with several hundred printers. What I know I can do is: CUPS_SERVER=printers.company.com acroread document.pdf and then Adobe Reader shows me all available printers to select from. However, it takes a couple of minutes to display the large list, which is really annoying. (The desktop PCs here suffer from this, too.) The other option is to add a new printer with an address like ipp://printers.company.com/printer/bldg1_hp8150 (to the Ubuntu printer configuration = local CUPS server). However, it asks me for a driver. I don't want to / can't always specify a driver, since some printers don't appear in the list. I'd like to let the remote CUPS server handle the driver part (like it does when i set CUPS_SERVER), and do no more preprocessing/"driver stuff" on my side. The ideal thing would be if I could somehow add the remote printer list to my local cups server, and apply a filter, so that it would just display printers a la bldg1_*. This feature was available in KDE3.?, but I can't find something similar in Ubuntu/Gnome. Any suggestions?

• How do I change file protections running XP on a disk from Windows Server?

  I had a Windows Server 2003 machine running at home, along with my desktop which I use for development. Server went belly up, but since my desktop is reasonably powerful, I figured I would move the disk from the file server (it was OK) into my XP machine to keep all of the files. Disk comes up fine and shows all of the files. I have been getting access denied errors when trying to work with some of the files. When I display attributes in Explorer, none of them are marked Read-Only. When I view properties on the directories, the Read-Only checkbox is not checked, but has a green background(which I thought meant mixed usage for files in the directory). When I click on the checkbox to clear it and click Apply, the disk does some work and all looks well. However, I continue to get the Access Denied errors, the files still don't show any Read-Only attribute and the directory properties shows the green background again on the Read-Only checkbox. I did check the box which says to apply the change to the folder and all files /subfilders under it. I am assuming that the issue relates to userids/permissions carried over from the Server install. So, why does it let me think I can change the attribute when I can't and how can I correct this problem so that the disk correctly recognizes the ids from XP?

• System Center 2012 Service Manager change request status stuck at new

  The guy that built and setup this system left rather abruptly and I've taken over. My current issues are I have several change requests that are stuck at New. They do not move to Pending or In Progress. The system is not sending emails when incidents are getting assigned to people. This used to work on this system. I have done a lot of searching and the usual solution to this of stopping and restarting the system center services does not help. Can anyone give me any ideas of where else to look? Update: From all the searching I have done it seemed like I was at the point of re-installing. My initial installation of SCSM 2012 was on a machine that was upgraded from SCSM 2010 and also hosted SCCM 2007 and WSUS. We decided to give it a fresh start on a new server by installing a second instance of the SCSM server on a brand new 2008 R2 server then promoting the new server to the workflow master using the procedures outlined in this article - Dealing with Multiple management Servers. I've gotten to the point where we have both the old and the new server up and the new server has been promoted. I had hopped to get spammed by emails all the sudden due to the workflow taking off, but no such luck. Once all the clients are reconfigured to point to the new server we still plan to decommission the old server but at this point it seems to be that the problem is in the database. Short of any other input from the community, my next plan is to install a 180 day trial on a test server, complete with a separate database so that I can do a side by side comparison between a completely fresh install and what I have now and see if I can find any differences. While that install is running I also plan on investigating the event logs to see if there is anything in there that can shed some light on what is happening on the new server. Update 2: So I've now got a test SCSM server up with a completely fresh install including Database and it seems to be able to transition Change Requests from New to In Progress. I'm attempting to find differences between the two. Stay Tuned! Update 3: In looking through the event log on the new SCSM machine i discovered: Log Name: Operations Manager Source: OpsMgr Root Connector Date: 10/9/2013 3:48:18 PM Event ID: 28000 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: scsm02 Description: The Root connector received an exception from the SDK Service while submitting task status: Cannot set availability on a health service that doesn't exist. This lead me to Event ID 2800 logged after installing secondary server for System Center 2012 Service Manager SP1. I contacted MS to obtain the hotfix, BIG warning here, turns out the hotfix is not so "hot". In order to apply this hotfix, you have to uninstall then reinstall using the files they supply. :( This is where I am at now ... Update 4: Not much luck after the re-install. The errors in the event log have gone away on the new server but the workflows still aren't running and neither the event log nor the workflow status screen seem to indicate why. I've done a comparison of the Activity and the Change Request Event Workflows and I've removed everything from the production system that is not in my fresh test system (which is everything), shut down the services, cleared out the cache folders and restarted the services and still no joy. At the moment the only thing I can think to do is either a)nuke the entire system including the database and start over, losing all of our data in the process or b)contact MS (which is probably going to cost us a butt load of money and time in the end to only advise us to do the same thing. Maybe more idea's will come after coffee ... No answers came after coffee. Attempting to contact MS. Managed to get to their first line of defense, gave them our SA number and someone is supposed to call me back. I am trying to log into my incident on their site to update my ticket with the link to this thread but when i click on the link in the email they sent me it goes to a "Sorry, the page you requested is not available" page ... Linux is looking better and better all the time.
