• Python utf-8 decoding issue with hashlib.digest() method

  Hello StackOverflow community, Using Google App Engine, I wrote a keyToSha256() method within a model class (extending db.Model) : class Car(db.Model): def keyToSha256(self): keyhash = hashlib.sha256(str(self.key())).digest() return keyhash When displaying the output (ultimately within a Django template), I get garbled text, for example : ?????_??!`?I?!?;?QeqN??Al?'2 I was expecting something more in line with this : 9f86d081884c7d659a2feaa0c55ad015a3bf4f1b2b0b822cd15d6c15b0f00a08 Am I missing something important ? Despite reading several guides on ASCII, Unicode, utf-8 and the like, I think I'm still far from mastering the secrets of string encoding/decoding. After browsing StackOverflow and searching for insights via Google, I figured out I should ask the question here. Any idea ? Thanks !

• android : how to run a shell command from within code

  I am trying to execute a command from within my code, the command is "echo 125 /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness" and I can run it without problems from adb shell I am using Runtime class to execute it : Runtime.getRuntime().exec("echo 125 > /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness"); However I get a permissions error since I am not supposed to access the sys directory. I have also tried to place the command in a String[] just in case spaces caused a problem but it didn't make much differense. Does anyone know any workaround for this ?

• CruiseControl Console error message when parsing XML

  I have CruiseControl(1.5) running in Win2k8R2 and svn(1.6.9) The error happens on a successful build after nant(0.86) Timeout(600 seconds).   hi everyone, i would like to know how to convert byte array into key. i am doing an AES encryption/decryption. instead of generating a key, i would like to use my generated byte array. byte[] clientCK = Milenage.f3(sharedSecret16, RANDbytes, opc); let say i have a byte array called clientCK, stated above. i want to use it in AES encryption as shown below. • Can Hibernate automatically uppercase a column on read/insert via configuration?

  We have some columns with data that must always be in uppercase to ensure uniqueness. I was wondering if hibernate can force all such columns to uppercase via some configuration file change? We actually use a custom UserType for encrypting/decrypting column data for some other table, but I figured that would be overkill just to uppercase everything... Alternatively, I was thinking about modifying the models such that all getters/setters will uppercase any string coming and going. The worst(?) case scenario is to modify the Oracle column constraint to ignore case while checking uniqueness. Any thoughts?

• fetching a url using $.getJSON and parsing it correctly

  This is probably really stupid but i can't find the problem with my code. It fetches a url that returns json and the function is then supposed to return a string: function getit() { var ws_url = 'example.com/test.js'; var user = false; $.getJSON(ws_url, function(data) { alert('user '+data.user);//shows john user = data.user || false; } ); return user;//should return john but returns false } test.js will have something like this: {"id":"12","username":"ses","user":"john","error":""} or like this: {"error":"123"} I also tried if(data.user){}else{} but it didn't work either.. So what am i missing? Thanks :)

• Transpose a Collection

  Hello, I've a list of different sizes of a T-Shirt, e.g. S, M, L. Since this might change for T-Shirts (sometimes we just have e.g. M, L), we load this into a List sizes. Since most DataGrids (xamDataGrid, WPF Toolkit DataGrid) need Properties for binding to the Columns, I'd like to transpose somehow my data. Does anyone have an idea how to do this? E.g. Instead of having List where Size { string sizeName, int available, int defect, int ordered} Avail. Defect Ordered [S] 1 2 3 [M] 1 2 3 [L] 1 2 3 I want an Object which has the Properties S, M, L containing the Values like this: [S] [M] [L] Avail. 1 2 3 Defect 1 2 3 Ordered 1 2 3 The problem here is that I don't know how many sizes will be available for the tshirt, it might be 3, 4, or 10.   Hi everyone! I have a date string as input from an rss like: Wed, 23 Dec 2009 13:30:14 GMT I want to fetch only the time-part, but it should be correct according to the my timezone. Ie, in Sweden the output should be: 14:30:14 What is the best way? I want it to work with other RSS date formats as well if possible. Im using regexp right now but that is not very general. Im having a hard time finding any library or support for dates and timezones in j2me? /Br Johannes

• Does .NET Regex support global matching?

  I haven't been able to find anything online regarding this. There's RegexOptions, but it doesn't have Global as one of its options. The inline modifiers list also doesn't mention global matching. In a nutshell, I've got a regex to parse something like --arga= "arg1" --argb ="arg2" into separate argument name/value pairs using this regex: --(\\w+)\\s*=\\s*\"(\\w+)\"\\s* but the .NET Regex class doesn't do it globally (iteratively). So in order for me to get this to work, I'd have to do a match, then remove this from the argument string, and loop over and over again until I've exhausted all of the arguments. It would be nicer to run the regex once, and then loop over the match groups to get the name value pairs. Is this possible? What am I missing?

I mean, i have a function that requires only native objects as arguments, for every other type of variable it throws an error. So: func(Array); //works func(String); //works func(Date); //works func(Object); //works ... func([]); //Throwr error func({}); //Throws error I want to know if there's a way to distinguish between native objects and everything else.

  Is there a simple way to create a BindingList wrapper (with projection), which would update as the original list updates? For example, let's say I have a mutable list of numbers, and I want to represent them as hex strings in a ComboBox. Using this wrapper I could do something like this: BindingList<int> numbers = data.GetNumbers(); comboBox.DataSource = Project(numbers, i => string.Format("{0:x}", i)); I could wrap the list into a new BindingList, handle all source events, update the list and fire these events again, but I feel that there is a simpler way already.

• PHP Retrieve Cookie which was not set with setcookie

  I have the following problem - a third party software is setting a cookie with the login credentials and then forward the user to my app. I now need to retrieve the cookie values: The problem is - I can do this easily in the Frontend/AS3 with var ticket : String = CookieUtil.getCookie( 'ticket' ).toString(); but in PHP, the cookie is not within the $_COOKIES array. The cookie values are: Name: ticket Domain: .www.myserver.com Path : / Send for: encrypted connections only Expires: at end of session The one I see, and set before in PHP is: Name: myCookie Host: www.myserver.com Path : / Send for: any type of connection Expires: at end of session Actually, since host/domain are both the same, it should be visible in the PHP script, since it is running on this domain. • Flash CS4/AS3 Dynamic Text Box

  Hi, I have created a XML image gallery, which displays text in between each slide. Now I have created a movie clip with a dynamic text field (with Render HTML selected) to display the text from the XML which is pushed into an array. Now, this all works great BUT... /n or /r is not creating a new line break (as they need to be custom). Yet if I create an Array and manually push strings "Bla bla bla /n bla bla bla" I get a line break. I have tried converting the Array item to string (even though it already is), I would also avoid creating textField = new textField() any Ideas would be welcomed. Cheers

• System.AccessViolation in DllImport method after redeploy

  Hi Everyone, My environment: Windows 2003, VS 2008, .NET 3.5 C# .NET application. During loading my application I call method from C++ dll (Knowl.dll) through my third-party dll library (Common.dll) written in C#. After first deploy (from VS to Developing server) evrything works fine. Then I stops Developing Server, doesn't any changes in code and redeploy. Throws AccessViolationException on this imported method. What is it? On second and after redeplies - the same error. Only after deletin source code and recheckout it from CVS I can normally start server. • .net Value Class sorting with IComparable

  I'm running into an issue using a DataGridView bound to a iBindingListView implementation (third party dll) attached to a large collection. There's a certain property in my collection type, named MyDateTime, which is a value class similar to DateTime, but also with some legacy code. This VALUE CLASS implements iComparable, iComparable<T>, and iEquatable<T>. The issue I'm having is this: When I apply a sort to the iBindingListView, or the Automatic Sorting provided by the DGV on the MyDateTimeColumn, it ALWAYS uses the non-generic iComparer, causing hundreds of thousands of unnecessary boxing and unboxing. When I remove the non-generic iComparer, the generic one is still not used, it just does a string compare on the .ToString(). Am I missing something? Why is my generic comparer not bieng called on a sort?

• How to create multiple tables with the same schema using SQLite jdbc

  I want to split a large table horizontally, and I would like to make sure that all three of them have the same schema. Currently I am using this piece of code to create the tables: statement .executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE AnnotationsMolecularFunction (Id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY ASC AUTOINCREMENT, " + "ProteinId NOT NULL, " + "GOId NOT NULL, " + "UNIQUE (ProteinId, GOId)" + "FOREIGN KEY(ProteinId) REFERENCES Protein(Id))"); There is one such statement for each table. This is bad, because if I decide to change the schema later (which will most certainly happen), I will have to change it three times, which begs for errors, so I would like a way to make sure that the other tables have the same schema without explicitly writing it again. I can use: statement .executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE AnnotationsBiologicalProcess AS SELECT * FROM AnnotationsMolecularFunction"); to create the other tables with the same columns, but the constraints are not aplied. I could of course just generate the same query-string three times with different table-names in Java, but I would like to know if there is an SQL-way of achieving this.

• SQL model optimization question

  I need to keep track of number of "hits" on a particular item in a DB. The thing is that the "hits" should stay unique with a user ID, so if a user hits the item 3 times, it should still count for a hit of 1. Also, I need to display the total number of hits for a particular item. Is there a better way than to store each hits for each items by each users in a separate table? Would keeping the user ID in a string separated by commas a better and efficient way?
