  Hi, I have problem with one my conputer, it does not display any website properly. The background clouds on some websites do not show up, the layout of some websites are not properly displayed. And it only happen to only one computer. OS: Windows XP IE: 7 (not working on either IE7 or IE 8) I have tried to add my website as trusted site still that site is not working properly. I also tried Internet Options Advanced ... Check Show images, smart image dithering, enable visual styles in button and controls on webwage. Is there anything else I could do to fix the problem? Any help is appreciated

• Why circles are not created if small?

  I have changed the scale to my own and now I cant create any object, including circle, if it is of the size which is normal for my scale. I am to create big object first and then modify it to smaller size. Looks like minimal size protection is set somewhere. Where? UPDATE While creating a circle, if I drag for 0.04m circle disappears after drag end. If I drag for 0.08m circle also disappears. If I drag for more than 0.1m, circle persists after drag end. How to set so that it persist after 0.01m too?

• GRUB not showing /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader

  A few days ago I accidentally deleted Ubuntu partition using GParted. I thought Windows 7 would start normally, but I got a "grub-rescue" screen instead. Then, I recreated a partition for Ubuntu (/dev/sda6) and reinstalled it. Ubuntu starts properly now; but GRUB shows me /dev/sda2 is Windows Recovery System (WRS), what is false, since /dev/sda1 is WRS and /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader. I booted using Windows 7 disk and tried to correct this problem automatically and by bootrec.exe /fixboot and /fixmbr, and nothing is able to fix my problem. Yet, Windows (disk) says there is no OS in my computer. What should I do? Will I have to erase my hard disk to get Windows 7 back?

• Good links somehow being converted to ones with a PHP redirect (not a virus)

  This has happened to links we put on web pages and in emails. We might put www.oursite.org/work/ but when I view source it shows up as webmail.ourhosting.ca/hwebmail/services/go.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oursite.org%2F%2work%2F This ends up at the webmail login page for our web host. But only some of the people who click the link get the login page; others go directly to the original page we intended. We don't want it to go to the webmail login page, nobody needs to log in to our web site. This occurs for links to pages on our site, but also to links to other sites that we put in emails or in posts. It seems to be browser independent as well as e-mail client independent as we variously have used Firefox and Chrome as well as MS Outlook and Thunderbird. I've tried to resolve the issue with our webhost but they keep telling me they don't support our browser, or our email client (i.e., they don't understand the issue). At the moment, our only option is to try another web host just to get rid of their login. Any ideas about what's going on?

• Print to file in Black and White [not printer specific]

  Hi all, I have these pdf files of c++code and they are colored which would be cool, except that the network printer here is b&w and the printed out codes come in various shades of pale grey which makes them essentially unreadable (specially the comments). I would like everything (text, codes, commands,...) to be printed in the same (black) color. i've tried fuddling with the printer's properties, but the closest thing i see is the 'level of grey' tab, and there i have the choice between 'enhanced' and 'normal' (and it doesn't make a difference in my case). i've tried 'print to file', but i don't see any options there to print to b&w, I've tried installing the 'generic cups printer', but again no options to print to b&w. any idea ? (i'm on 10.10)

• Wired card not connecting after trying to connect

  I have an Ubuntu 12.10 PC. When I plug in my internet cable it starts connecting and after a minute it says it can't connect. I tried different cables but nothing works. Wlan works. I think it's the network driver but I don't know how to install/update it.   I Have tried two things in three places to see if it works please do help me out. Two methords: 1) replacing @ with %40 2) replacing @ with \@ Three places: 1) export with the .bashrc file 2) editing /etc/apt/apt.conf and setting acquires there 3) using gconf editor and setting the values in /system/http_proxy and setting authentication name and password and checking the use_authentication checkbox. still there is no success and i still get 407 error when trying wget or apt-get update. please do help me, been stuck with this for three hours now. also, i read somewhere that creating a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d and then creating a 01proxy file with acquire might work. I tried that also, but it doesnt work. Please help.

• Drawing Grid in 3D view - Mathematically calculate points and draw line between them (Not working)

  I'm trying to draw a simple grid from a starting point and expand it to a size. Doing this mathematically and drawing the lines between each point, but since the "DrawPrimitives(LineList)" doesn't work the way it should work, And this method can't even draw lines between four points to create a simple Rectangle, so how does this method work exactly? Some sort of coordinate system: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.0][ ][0.0][ ][2.0][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] I've checked with my method and it's working as it should. It calculates all the points to form a grid. This way I should be able to create Points where to draw line right? This way, if I supply the method with Size = 2 it starts at 0,0 and works it through all the corners (2,2) on each side. So, I have the positions of each point. How do I draw lines between these? VerticeCount = must be number of Points in this case, right? So, tell me, if I can't supply this method with Point A, Point B, Point C, Point D to draw a four vertice rectangle (Point A - B - C - D) - how do I do it? How do I even begin to understand it? As far as I'm concered, that's a "Line list" or a list of points where to draw lines. Can anyone explain what I'm missing? I wish to do this mathematically so I can create a a custom grid that can be altered.

  there is only the wired connection option available when the menu drops down. i have installed a belkin wireless g card for my desktop. it has been used before on this version of ubuntu 10.10, but after upgrading it shows only wired networks. enable networking and enable notifications have both been ticked. still only wired networks coming. im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat on my desktop comp and im an absolute begginer at ubuntu. can some one please help me re enable wireless on my comp?

  I am running 64 bit Ubuntu on Dell with 1GB graphic card. I login with "Ubuntu" hoping to see Unity 3d but it doesn't. Unity 2D runs instead. when I type in echo "$DESKTOP_SESSION" it confirms the Unity-2D. I've checked the System info that shows like : The graphics row shows itself as empty. SO I've presumed that the graphic drivers aren't detected and hence I went to Unity- Additional Drivers and installed the fglrx driver that the UI has suggested. Even after installing so, the graphics part in System info details shows nothing and still Unity 2D runs in spite of all the effort. Please help! How can I get my Unity 3D back?   i formatted my hard drive yesterday and it was working well even after the formatting. But when I restarted my system again , is is showing that the space is alloted to my files but they are inaccessible. I have even tried to unhide the files and folders, if they got hidden somehow. But nothing works. the hard drive is being shown empty but the properties are saying that it still conatins the data : http://imgur.com/ObjTE in the image, it is showing that the directory has only 1 file of size:4.8 kbps but the space being used by the drive is 11.6 GB. do suggest some solution.

  I am running an up-to-date and OEM version of Windows 7. I have been experiencing an annoying problem for the past few weeks where new windows are not displayed 70-80% of the time. For example, when I launch notepad, the notepad window is not displayed or when I select save from the file menu, the save dialog is not displayed. The window is there, but it is not being displayed; the screen is not refreshed. The way to work around this problem is to force a system-wide refresh by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+DEL and then cancelling hiding all windows using "show desktop" then displaying the window needed via taskbar Can anyone please point me in the right direction to solving this problem? What could be causing this?

  I am new to ubuntu. I recently installed the latest ubuntu for desktop from http://www.ubuntu.com/download. I was very excited to start using ubuntu until I booted the computer and saw that i couldn't connect to the internet at all. I have spent hours trying to figure this out. I keep running into people suggesting installing drivers etc. I have tried about everything and nothing seems to work. I have the ethernet cable connected to the computer but it doesn't recognize it. I ran the following: lspci | grep -i eth and I get this 09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5752 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02) Any help would be much appreciated. I am kind of bummed I have spent all this time tyring to get the internet to work and haven't even gotten to use the power of ubuntu Update copied from comment: Changing the Ethernet cable to a different one fixed the problem.

Is it common for search engines to consider a website popular in a "category"? For instance, if I was the first result for "foobar" with one page, and then added another separate page which mentioned "foobar"(and maybe a link from the original page), would a search engine prioritize this separate page when compared to a completely separate website with a page with the same content?

  i have the windows XP media edition running on my Dell Inspiron E1405 with all the hardware working properly.
