  • Is there a tool that can test what SSL/TLS cipher suites a particular website offers?

    Is there a tool that can test what SSL/TLS cipher suites a particular website offers? I know I could grep through the hex dump of the conversation, but I was hoping for something a little more elegant. I would prefer Linux tools, but Windows (or other) would be fine. This question is motivated by the security testing I do for PCI and general penetration testing. Update: GregS points out below that the SSL server picks from the cipher suites of the client. So it seems I would need to test all cipher suites one at a time. I think I can hack something together, but is there a tool that does particularly this?

  • jQuery live draggable / live droppable?

    - by Henk
    Hi all, Basically there are two tables: Companies and visitors. Currently it's possible to drag visitors to companies. Works great. As soon as the drop function occurs, there are two $.post's. The first one saves the drag to the database. The second one updates the visitors, because the information constantly changes. The problem, however is that as soon as the second $.post finishes, Firebug keeps popping the following error: d(this).data("draggable") is null Which occurs in the jQuery UI file. On line 56. about 400 times or so. So basically I'm looking for a way to do live() with draggable and droppable. The .draggables are in #visitors (an ul). The droppables are in #companies (a table). Thanks! $(".draggable").draggable({ revert:true }); $(".droppable").droppable({ drop: function(ev, ui) { $(this).text($(ui.draggable).text()); $.post('planning/save_visit', {user_id: $(ui.draggable).attr('id'), company_id: $(this).attr('id'), period: $('ul.periods li.active').attr('id')}); $.post('planning/' + $('ul.periods li.active').attr('id'), {visitors:true}, function(data){ $('#visitors').html(data); }); }, hoverClass: 'drophover' });

  • Is there more than one jQuery Autocomplete widget?

    - by Cheeso
    I thought there was only one - included in jQuery UI and documented here. I know there are third-party autocomplete widgets that plug-in to jQuery, like the one from devbridge. But I would describe that as an autocomplete widget for jQuery, rather than the jQuery autocomplete widget. But on Stackoverflow, I see questions asking about an autocomplete widget that does not use the syntax described in the jQuery UI documentation. For example: jquery.autocomplete.js - how does autocomplete work? Jquery AutoComplete Plugin calling Help with jquery autocomplete and json response The jQuery UI syntax looks like this: $("#input1").autocomplete({ source: function(req, responseFn) { ... }, select: function(value, data){ ... } }); Whereas some of those other questions hae a syntax like this: $("#city").autocomplete("CUList.asmx/GetCUList", { dataType: 'jsonp', parse: function(data) { var rows = new Array(); for(var i=0; i<data.length; i++){ rows[i] = { data:data[i], value:data[i].CUName, result:data[i].CUName }; } return rows; }, formatItem: function(row, i, n) { return row.CUName + ', ' + row.CUCity; }, max: 50 }); What's the explanation for the discrepancy? People ask about "jquery autocomplete" without specifying which one. With no direction, shouldn't I assume THE jquery UI autocomplete?

  • jqGrid disable sortablerows

    - by gurun8
    I'm trying to disable sortablerows functionality from a grid. I'd like to have the ability to toggle on/off the sortablerows functionality. Enabling the feature is pretty straightforward: jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', { update: function(event, ui) { updateOrder() } }); But disabling the feature has proven to be a little bit harder. I've consulted the UI Integrations where sortableRows is documented in the jqGrid Wiki: www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:jquery_ui_methods And found that "The method is fully compatible with jQuery UI sortable widget." So I ventured off to the jQuery UI sortable documentation and found this: http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable/ jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', {disabled: true}); The code above simply disables the rows. So I moved onto the destroy method: jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', {destroy: true}); but that doesn't do anything. Based upon the documentation the destroy method seems to be exactly what I need, so maybe my syntax is wrong but I can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone have experience with this same issue?

    I am trying to make this captcha jquery plugin to work. The a certain line of code is executed, the error pops up. This is the line of code that causes the error : $(".ajax-fc-" + rand).draggable({ containment: '#ajax-fc-content' }); What I am assuming is that there is some kind of conflict with the javascript reference, but can't determain what. • Using Unit Tests While Developing Static Libraries in Obj-C

    - by macinjosh
    I'm developing a static library in Obj-C for a CocoaTouch project. I've added unit testing to my Xcode project by using the built in OCUnit framework. I can run tests successfully upon building the project and everything looks good. However I'm a little confused about something. Part of what the static library does is to connect to a URL and download the resource there. I constructed a test case that invokes the method that creates a connection and ensures the connection is successful. However when my tests run a connection is never made to my testing web server (where the connection is set to go). It seems my code is not actually being ran when the tests happen? Also, I am doing some NSLog calls in the unit tests and the code they run, but I never see those. I'm new to unit testing so I'm obviously not fully grasping what is going on here. Can anyone help me out here? P.S. By the way these are "Logical Tests" as Apple calls them so they are not linked against the library, instead the implementation files are included in the testing target.

  • Jquery draggable not working in chrome/safari

    - by jbatson
    I have created a page that uses ajax calls to load product images. The jquery code for drag, drop and clone would not work when in the index.php page so I moved it to the page that gets called to request the products as each product has drag, drop code created for it. Works fine in FF, even IE but not in Safari or Chrome. Below is the jquery code in load_products.php that gets created when the ajax call is made to load the products. http://tandyleatherfactory.net/ Anyone have any idea why wouldn't work in Safari? $(function() {$("#concho_4_2").draggable({ helper: 'clone', cursor: 'pointer', zIndex: '1001', stop: function(event, ui) { offsetElement = $(ui.helper).offset(); offNewContainer = $('#belts').offset(); var dataId = $(ui.helper).attr('id'); ajaxRequest('http://tandyleatherfactory.net/includes/ahah/add_product.php', 'product=4', '#conchos'); var randomnumber = Math.floor(Math.random()*1000000); var newId = 'concho_4_2_'+randomnumber; $(ui.helper).clone(true).removeAttr('id').attr('id',newId).css("left", offsetElement.left-offNewContainer.left-10).css("top", offsetElement.top-offNewContainer.top-10).appendTo('#belts'); $('#'+newId).draggable(); } });

  • The perfect web UI framework (with Microsoft stack?) - architecture question?

    - by Igorek
    I'm looking for suggestions for the following issue, and I realize there is really not going to be a perfect answer to my question: I have a UI built in WinForms.NET (v4.0 framework) with WCF back-end and EF4 model objects, that I am looking to port to the web. UI is not huge and is not super complex and is structured well. But it is not a super simple system either. I am looking to pick a technology stack for the web-frontend that will target desktop & partially mobile platforms, provide a good development platform to build on, and facilitate code reuse across UI and back-end tiers... I would rather avoid: custom coding of UI-centric scripts, because they are hard to debug, non-compiled, usually a maintenance nightmare, almost always start to contain business logic, and duplicate some of the logic that back-end tiers have (especially validation) custom-coding for Desktop Web and Mobile Web UI's separately (although I realize that mobile web UI will likely contain fewer of data-entry screens and more reporting screens) non-.NET technology stacks I would love to: target the reporting capabilities of the system toward mobile web browsers not have to write a single line of script (javascript, jquery, etc.) utilize a good collection of controls that produces an elegant UI use .NET for everything The way I see it right now, I need to re-write this app in Silverlight, utilize a 3rd party UI framework like Telerik, and re-do the reports UI again for mobile platforms separately. However, I'm rather concerned about the shelf-life of Silverlight and the needed to deploy a different architecture to deal with mobile platform. Is there an ASP.NET/MVC/Ajax architecture/framework/library that would allow me to get at the power of .NET and without painful (imho) client-side scripting, while providing a decent user experience Thank you

  • How do you prove a function works?

    - by glenn I.
    I've recently gotten the testing religion and have started primarily with unit testing. I code unit tests which illustrate that a function works under certain cases, specifically using the exact inputs I'm using. I may do a number of unit tests to exercise the function. Still, I haven't actually proved anything other than the function does what I expect it to do under the scenarios I've tested. There may be other inputs and scenarios I haven't thought of and thinking of edge cases is expensive, particularly on the margins. This is all not very satisfying to do me. When I start to think of having to come up with tests to satisfy branch and path coverage and then integration testing, the prospective permutations can become a little maddening. So, my question is, how can one prove (in the same vein of proving a theorem in mathematics) that a function works (and, in a perfect world, compose these 'proofs' into a proof that a system works)? Is there a certain area of testing that covers an approach where you seek to prove a system works by proving that all of its functions work? Does anybody outside of academia bother with an approach like this? Are there tools and techniques to help? I realize that my use of the word 'work' is not precise. I guess I mean that a function works when it does what some spec (written or implied) states that it should do and does nothing other than that. Note, I'm not a mathematician, just a programmer.

  • How do you tell that your unit tests are correct?

    - by Jacob Adams
    I've only done minor unit testing at various points in my career. Whenever I start diving into it again, it always troubles me how to prove that my tests are correct. How can I tell that there isn't a bug in my unit test? Usually I end up running the app, proving it works, then using the unit test as a sort of regression test. What is the recommended approach and/or what is the approach you take to this problem? Edit: I also realize that you could write small, granular unit tests that would be easy to understand. However, if you assume that small, granular code is flawless and bulletproof, you could just write small, granular programs and not need unit testing. Edit2: For the arguments "unit testing is for making sure your changes don't break anything" and "this will only happen if the test has the exact same flaw as the code", what if the test overfits? It's possible to pass both good and bad code with a bad test. My main question is what good is unit testing since if your tests can be flawed you can't really improve your confidence in your code, can't really prove your refactoring worked, and can't really prove that you met the specification?

  • jQuery UI Dialog problem if modal is set to TRUE

    - by VansFannel
    Hello! I'm developing an ASP.NET WebForm application with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and C#. I have the following ASPX page: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script src="js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="js/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#dialog").dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, buttons: { 'Ok': function() { __doPostBack('TreeNew', ''); $(this).dialog('close'); }, Cancel: function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } }, close: function() { }, open: function(type, data) { $(this).parent().appendTo("form"); } }); }); function ShowDialog() { $('#dialog').dialog('open'); } </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:Button ID="TreeNew" runat="server" Text="Nuevo" OnClientClick="ShowDialog();return false;" onclick="TreeNew_Click"/> <asp:Label ID="Message" runat="server"></asp:Label> <div id="dialog_target"></div> <div id="dialog" title="Select content type"> <p id="validateTips">All form fields are required.</p> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="ContentTypeList" runat="server"> <asp:ListItem Value="1">Text</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="2">Image</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="3">Audio</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="4">Video</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> </div> </div> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager> </form> </body> </html> When modal is set to true the page stars to grow (I know that because both scroll bars are getting smaller, vertical bar faster than horizontal bar). Looking inside page source code I see that the following div is outside forms tag: <div class="ui-widget-overlay" style="z-index: 1001; width: 1280px; height: 65089px;" jQuery1267345392312="20"/> If I set modal to false, the error doesn't happen. I think the problem is that the div working as modal is outside the form. What do you think?

  • Tridion New UI Preview Site is not reflecting with the changes unless pulished

    - by Ram G
    I have new UI setup and noticing that when ever I update a page it is not refreshing with the updated changes. I do not see either the page_{sessionId/GUID}.aspx created either. Checked the session preview DB and I see the changes in PAGE_CONTENT table with new rendered content, so seems like session preview is working fine but the Preview site is not able to get the changes and refresh the UI. I have checked all the preview handlers and mappings for .aspx and made sure they are correct in web.config. Any thoughts on why the preview site not showing up the changes? • WebClient.DownloadDataAsync is freezing my UI

    - by Matías
    Hi, I have in my Form constructor, after the InitializeComponent the following code: using (WebClient client = new WebClient()) { client.DownloadDataCompleted += new DownloadDataCompletedEventHandler(client_DownloadDataCompleted); client.DownloadDataAsync("http://example.com/version.txt"); } When I start my form, the UI doesn't appears till client_DownloadDataCompleted is raised. When users do this on our website, and then try to click on a link or close the browser, they get the following JavaScript exception: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'type' is null or not an object" in the below library code at the line "var etype = this.type = e.type.toLowerCase();" Sys.UI.DomEvent = function Sys$UI$DomEvent(eventObject) { /// <summary locid="M:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.#ctor" /> /// <param name="eventObject"></param> /// <field name="altKey" type="Boolean" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.altKey"></field> /// <field name="button" type="Sys.UI.MouseButton" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.button"></field> /// <field name="charCode" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.charCode"></field> /// <field name="clientX" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.clientX"></field> /// <field name="clientY" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.clientY"></field> /// <field name="ctrlKey" type="Boolean" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.ctrlKey"></field> /// <field name="keyCode" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.keyCode"></field> /// <field name="offsetX" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.offsetX"></field> /// <field name="offsetY" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.offsetY"></field> /// <field name="screenX" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.screenX"></field> /// <field name="screenY" type="Number" integer="true" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.screenY"></field> /// <field name="shiftKey" type="Boolean" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.shiftKey"></field> /// <field name="target" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.target"></field> /// <field name="type" type="String" locid="F:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.type"></field> var e = Function._validateParams(arguments, [ {name: "eventObject"} ]); if (e) throw e; var e = eventObject; var etype = this.type = e.type.toLowerCase(); this.rawEvent = e; this.altKey = e.altKey; if (typeof(e.button) !== 'undefined') { this.button = (typeof(e.which) !== 'undefined') ? e.button : (e.button === 4) ?   • FB.ui stream.publish in an iframe application shows a popup instead of an iframe dialog

    - by pasha
    I am trying to show a "share" dialog using the following code, but it is displayed as a new window. This is an iFrame application inside Facebook. Does someone know how to make it show the "share" in a standard FB dialog iframe and not a new window? <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> FB.ui({ method: 'stream.publish', message:'hello world'}); </script>

  • "must be convertible to System.Web.UI.Page" using custom base page in Visual Studio 2010

    - by Payton Byrd
    I have a HUGE problem. We just converted our large project to a Visual Studio 2010 solution, but maintained .Net 3.5 targets. This seemed to go swimmingly, almost too easy. Today I just encountered a huge problem. When we add a new asp.net tag to a page the designer class is not being updated. I looked around and noticed that the type specified in the Page's Inherits attribute was underlined in red. Hovering over that gives the error "must be convertible to System.Web.UI.Page". Obviously the designer isn't casting the page correctly and it's because we are using a custom base page, just as we had been with no problems in VS 2008. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what's the solution. This is a show-stopper for us to use VS 2010 (and lots of egg on our faces for moving to it in the first place).

  • WPF Delay Refresh of UI Elements in ItemsControl

    - by Wonko the Sane
    Hello All, The short question is - how can I prevent (delay) a bound UI element from refreshing until I want it to? The longer explanation: I have a process that adds a number of items to an ItemsControl, and then performs some additional calculations on those items using a background thread. This (correctly) updates the items as it goes along. However, I would like to prevent the ItemsControl from updating during a particular calculation, as it performs some reordering of the items before it does additional calculations based on that order, and then returns the items to their original order. I do show a "Please Wait" animation on top of the ItemsControl, with the ItemsControl dimmed down as it is working, but I'd rather not hide the ItemsControl entirely because it gives the user an indication that progress is being made. Thanks, wTs

  • Problems with data driven testing in MSTest

    - by severj3
    Hello, I am trying to get data driven testing to work in C# with MSTest/Selenium. Here is a sample of some of my code trying to set it up: [TestClass] public class NewTest { private ISelenium selenium; private StringBuilder verificationErrors; [DeploymentItem("GoogleTestData.xls")] [DataSource("System.Data.OleDb", "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=GoogleTestData.xls;Persist Security Info=False;Extended Properties='Excel 8.0'", "TestSearches$", DataAccessMethod.Sequential)] [TestMethod] public void GoogleTest() { selenium = new DefaultSelenium("localhost", 4444, "*iehta", http://www.google.com); selenium.Start(); verificationErrors = new StringBuilder(); var searchingTerm = TestContext.DataRow["SearchingString"].ToString(); var expectedResult = TestContext.DataRow["ExpectedTextResults"].ToString(); Here's my error: Error 3 An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.TestContext.DataRow.get' E:\Projects\SeleniumProject\SeleniumProject\MaverickTest.cs 32 33 SeleniumProject The error is underlining the "TestContext.DataRow" part of both statements. I've really been struggling with this one, thanks!

  • Testing VSTO Applications?

    - by Matthew Sposato
    I'm developing an Word 2007 VSTO application in VS2008. The part of the application that interacts with VSTO is difficult to test. VSTO objects behave differently than most class libraries. Their state and behaviors depend on how the user is interacting with Word, where they clicked, what's around the insertion point, etc. Mock objects could work in some scenarios, but they don't capture many of the subtleties of the VSTO objects. Anyone have any experience with testing VSTO based application they can share?

  • Why won't Windows Installer use the UI in the .msi file during removal?

    - by billmcc
    Has anyone been able to get Windows Installer to use the InstallUISequence table during removal? I started with an MSI file produced by the Visual Studio msi builder, decompiled it into WiX source code and handcrafted it, but I cannot get the installer to use my UI during removal. It insists on using a default UI provided by Windows Installer. I have also analyzed several MSI files, and I have been unable to find one where Windows Installer will use the provided UI during removal. I captured the msiexec logs during removal, and sure enough, Windows Installer appears to be ignoring the InstallUISequence table. It seems that msiexec runs with minimal UI during removal. If I specify the /qf switch (use full UI) during removal, then Windows Installer does take the UI from the .msi file. However, this doesn't help the regular user, because she won't do the removal from msiexec. Does anyone know of a way to convince Windows Installer to use the UI in the MSI file by default?
