  • Is VS 2010 SharePoint functionality good enough to replace WSP Builder?

    I have been using WSP builder up until now with VS 2008. I recently upgraded my IDE to VS 2010, and have heard that VS 2010 now includes functionality to work with MOSS directly. If you guys have had any experience with this new MOSS functionality and have come from a WSP builder background I would like to hear what you think. Just to add more focus to my question, I am not interested in ease of deployment at this stage, only the ability to wrap up a WSP package, so I can ship this off to production machines. So can VS 2010 out of the box create WSP packages from class library projects, like WSP Builder does?

    I have searched for this, but unfortunately, I don't get the correct answer. class Helper { public static <T> T[] toArray(List<T> list) { T[] array = (T[]) new Object[list.size()]; for (int i = 0; i < list.size(); i++) { array[i] = list.get(i); } return array; } } Test it: public static void main(String[] args) { List<String> list = new ArrayList<String>(); list.add("abc"); String[] array = toArray(list); System.out.println(array); } But there is an error thrown: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: [Ljava.lang.Object; cannot be cast to [Ljava.lang.String; at test.Helper.main(Helper.java:30) How to solve this?

Currently I have a view set up, but I have to manually change the month each time it changes (it's set up based on the first day of the current month and the last day of current month). Thanks

  • Why the OnWorkflowItemChanged is different between List and document library?

    I am doing a workflow for a document library. I put a OnWorkflowItemChanged, and I want to get the value of the column which is changed. I use the workflowProperties.Item["name"] and use the afterProperties. But when I use the workflowProperties.Item["column name"], I still got the original value. When I use the afterProperties, it's NULL. Then I make another workflow that is the same as above for a list. I can use the workflowProperties.Item["column name"] to get the new value in OnWorkflowItemChanged. Has anyone come across this problem before? Can you give me some help?

    Hi all, I did developed a custom SharePoint Web Service . It is working fine when using http. But when we configure SSL(https) , it is not working and throwing the below error. Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bcee11233hj' failed. Does anyone came accross a similar situation or any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks Carol

    Here's a nice pitfall I just encountered. Consider a list of integers: List<Integer> list = new ArrayList<Integer>(); list.add(5); list.add(6); list.add(7); list.add(1); Any educated guess on what happens when you execute list.remove(1)? What about list.remove(new Integer(1))? This can cause some nasty bugs. What is the proper way to differentiate between remove(int index), which removes an element from given index and remove(Object o), which removes an element by reference, when dealing with lists of integers? The main point to consider here is the one @Nikita mentioned - exact parameter matching takes precedence over auto-boxing.

  • Restoring Sharepoint content database

    Hi, My WSS_Content database had got corrupt. And my pc was infected by virus. I had no backup of my WSS_Content database. So, I copied the corrupt database to a separete disk, formatted and reinstalled Sharepoint, with SQL Server 2005 as before (I'm using sharepoint 2007 ). I used Sytools Sharepoint Recovery tool, that i found on the net, which helped me restore my corrupt WSS_Content database. Now i want to set this content database as my "The content database" for my newly installed sharepoint. I tried the steps that i found in the link :- http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 I get stuck at step 3. Can anybody help me. I am really in a big mess.     I'm trying to solve problem 50 on Project Euler. Don't give me the answer or solve it for me, just try to answer this specific question. The goal is to find the longest sum of consecutive primes that adds to a prime below one million. I use wrote a sieve to find all the primes below n, and I have confirmed that it is correct. Next, I am going to check the sum of each subset of consecutive primes using the following method: I have a empty list sums. For each prime number, I add it to each element in sums and check the new sum, then I append the prime to sums. Here it is in python primes = allPrimesBelow(1000000) sums = [] for p in primes: for i in range(len(sums)): sums[i] += p check(sums[i]) sums.append(p) I want to know if I have called check() for every sum of two or more consecutive primes below one million The problem says that there is a prime, 953, that can be written as the sum of 21 consecutive primes, but I am not finding it.

    I've been given a big chunk of code which eventually calls upon the SetDocsMetaInfo method from Frontpage Server Extension RPC. This is easy enough for most document uploading and property updating, except when dealing with multichoice fields. I've been scouring through MSDN and I can't find anything on how to fill in multiple values for such a field. The general syntax for properties is something like this: [SR|default], with the type (string in this case) followed by a pipe and then the value to be written.     Given this problem I need an O(n²) implementation of this algorithm: "Let v be an arbitrary leaf in a binary tree T, and w be the only vertex connected to v. If we remove v, we are left with a smaller tree T'. The distance between v and any vertex u in T' is 1 plus the distance between w and u." This is a problem and solution of a Manber's exercise (Exercise 5.12 from U. Manber, Algorithms: A Creative Approach, Addison-Wesley (1989).). The thing is that I can't deal properly with the adjacency-list representation so that the implementation of this algorithm results in a real O(n²) complexity. Any ideas of how the implementation should be? Thanks.

    I am trying to write a program which neeeds to use a proxy 3 times then move onto the next proxy in a list and so on. the user will enter their proxy list into a list/textfile and the program will use the first in the list and then carry on through the list until it gets to the end. How do i get the proxy details from the list and use them using httpwebrequest? i have no problem using a proxy if i set it within the code but dont know how to get it to work through the list basically it is like this: user enters a list of proxies into a text file program uses first proxy in list 3 times then moves onto next. this repeats until finished.

However, the folder is still there. Any ideas what could be the problem?

  • Can I use the SharePoint 2010 SQL Database through SharePoint from my App?

    I wonder if there is a supported way to access the SharePoint 2010 SQL Server through an API? I'm not talking about modifying any SharePoint Database directly (I know that that is still unsupported), but I'd like to store some data that my application needs, and instead of asking the user to enter a Connection String, I'd prefer to create my own database on the SQL Server that SharePoint uses. I think I could use the new Service Application stuff, but that seems a bit overkill?
