  • When to draw/layout child controls in UserControl

    - by Ted Elliott
    I have a list-type UserControl (like a ListBox). The items inside the control are another complex UserControl containing a few other controls (ComboBox, TextBox, etc). I'm wondering what the preferred or best method would be to override to draw/layout the child controls. I basically want to trigger this method any time the list changes. I originally had a RedrawItems method that I just called whenever I needed to redraw which added or removed Controls from the Controls collection. But it was getting triggered too early in the lifecycle of the code from some of the designer code. Now I've switched to overriding OnLayout and doing my stuff there. I call PerformLayout when I want to trigger a redraw, such as when the DataSource property changes or when it fires a changed event. Is OnLayout the best place for this? Here is the code: [ComplexBindingProperties("DataSource")] public partial class CustomList : UserControl { private object _dataSource; private CustomListItem _newRow; public CustomList() { InitializeComponent(); } protected override void OnCreateControl() { base.OnCreateControl(); _newRow = new CustomListItem(); Controls.Add(_newRow); } public object DataSource { get { return _dataSource; } set { bool register = _dataSource != value; if (_dataSource != null && _dataSource != value) { UnregisterDataSource(_dataSource); } _dataSource = value; if (_dataSource != null) RegisterDataSource(_dataSource); PerformLayout(); } } public CustomListItem ItemTemplate { get { return _newRow; } } protected override void OnLayout(LayoutEventArgs e) { base.OnLayout(e); int ctrlCount = this.Controls.AsEnumerable().OfType<CustomListItem>().Count(); ctrlCount--; // subtract 1 for the add row var ds = this.DataSource as System.Collections.IList; int itemCount = ds == null? 0 : ds.Count; int maxCount = Math.Max(ctrlCount,itemCount); if (maxCount == 0) return; this.SuspendLayout(); // temporarily remove the template Controls.RemoveAt(Controls.Count-1); for (int i = 0; i < maxCount; i++) { CustomListItem item; if (i >= itemCount) { Controls.RemoveAt(i); } else { if (i >= ctrlCount) { item = ItemTemplate.Copy(); this.Controls.Add(item); item.Location = new Point(0, item.Height * i); item.TabIndex = i + 1; item.ViewMode = true; } else { item = (CustomListItem) Controls[i]; } item.Data = ds[i]; } } this.Controls.Add(ItemTemplate); ItemTemplate.Location = new Point(0, ItemTemplate.Height * maxCount); ItemTemplate.TabIndex = maxCount + 1; this.ResumeLayout(true); } private void RegisterDataSource(object dataSource) { IBindingList ds = dataSource as IBindingList; if (ds != null) { ds.ListChanged += new ListChangedEventHandler(DataSource_ListChanged); } } void DataSource_ListChanged(object sender, ListChangedEventArgs e) { switch (e.ListChangedType) { case ListChangedType.ItemAdded: PerformLayout(); break; case ListChangedType.ItemChanged: break; case ListChangedType.ItemDeleted: PerformLayout(); break; case ListChangedType.ItemMoved: PerformLayout(); break; case ListChangedType.Reset: PerformLayout(); break; default: break; } } private void UnregisterDataSource(object dataSource) { IBindingList ds = dataSource as IBindingList; if (ds != null) { ds.ListChanged -= new ListChangedEventHandler(DataSource_ListChanged); } } }

  • Geolocation through Android's GPS Provider on a website?

    - by Corey Ogburn
    I'm trying to get the geolocation of the mobile device in a regular website, not a webview of an application or anything native like that. I'm getting a location, but it's highly inaccurate, the accuracy comes back as 3230 or some other outrageous number. I'm assuming that's in meters, either way it's not nearly accurate enough. By comparison, the same webpage on a laptop gets an accuracy of 30-40. My first thought was that it was using the Network Provider instead of the GPS Provider, telling me where I am based on tower location and reach. A little research later I found enableHighAccuracy and set it true in the options that I pass. After including that, I still notice no difference. Here's the test page's HTML/javascript: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=7.0"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function OnLoad() { $("#Status").text("Init"); if (navigator.geolocation) { $("#Status").text("Supports Geolocation"); navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(HandleLocation, LocationError, { enableHighAccuracy: true }); $("#Status").text("Sent position request..."); } else { $("#Status").text("Doesn't support geolocation"); } } function HandleLocation(position) { $("#Status").text("Received response:"); $("#Position").text("(" + position.coords.latitude + ", " + position.coords.longitude + ") accuracy: " + position.coords.accuracy); var loc = new Microsoft.Maps.Location(position.coords.latitude, position.coords.longitude); GetMap(loc); } function LocationError(error) { switch(error.code) { case error.PERMISSION_DENIED: alert("Location not provided"); break; case error.POSITION_UNAVAILABLE: alert("Current location not available"); break; case error.TIMEOUT: alert("Timeout"); break; default: alert("unknown error"); break; } } function GetMap(loc) { var map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapDiv"), {credentials: "Aj59meaCR1e7rNgkfQy7j08Pd3mzfP1r04hGesGmLe2a3ZwZ3iGecwPX2SNPWq5a", center: loc, mapTypeId: Microsoft.Maps.MapTypeId.road, zoom: 15}); } </script> </head> <body onload="javascript:OnLoad()"> <div id="Status"></div> <div id="Position"></div><br/> <div id='mapDiv' style="position:relative; width:600px; height:400px;"></div> </body> </html> I'm testing this on a rooted MyTouch 3G running Cyanogen 6.1 stable, Android 2.2 and GPS is enabled. In case rooting was a problem, I have also had various friends and coworkers try the webpage on their non-rooted 2.0+ Android devices. Each phone had various effects on the accuracy, but none were better than 1000, I attribute this to the different carriers. I have not (but eventually will) tested with iPhone or other location-aware cell phones.

  • Javascript phsyics in a 2d space

    - by eroo
    So, I am working on teaching myself Canvas (HTML5) and have most of a simple game engine coded up. It is a 2d representation of a space scene (planets, stars, celestial bodies, etc). My default "Sprite" class has a frame listener like such: "baseClass" contains a function that allows inheritance and applies "a" to "this.a". So, "var aTest = new Sprite({foo: 'bar'});" would make "aTest.foo = 'bar'". This is how I expose my objects to each other. { Sprite = baseClass.extend({ init: function(a){ baseClass.init(this, a); this.fields = new Array(); // list of fields of gravity one is in. Not sure if this is a good idea. this.addFL(function(tick){ // this will change to be independent of framerate soon. // and this is where I need help // gobjs is an array of all the Sprite objects in the "world". for(i = 0; i < gobjs.length; i++){ // Make sure its got setup correctly, make sure it -wants- gravity, and make sure it's not -this- sprite. if(typeof(gobjs[i].a) != undefined && !gobjs[i].a.ignoreGravity && gobjs[i].id != this.id){ // Check if it's within a certain range (obviously, gravity doesn't work this way... But I plan on having a large "space" area, // And I can't very well have all objects accounted for at all times, can I? if(this.distanceTo(gobjs[i]) < this.s.size*10 && gobjs[i].fields.indexOf(this.id) == -1){ gobjs[i].fields.push(this.id); } } } for(i = 0; i < this.fields.length; i++){ distance = this.distanceTo(gobjs[this.fields[i]]); angletosun = this.angleTo(gobjs[this.fields[i]])*(180/Math.PI); // .angleTo works very well, returning the angle in radians, which I convert to degrees here. // I have no idea what should happen here, although through trial and error (and attempting to read Maths papers on gravity (eeeeek!)), this sort of mimics gravity. // angle is its orientation, currently I assign a constant velocity to one of my objects, and leave the other static (it ignores gravity, but still emits it). this.a.angle = angletosun+(75+(distance*-1)/5); //todo: omg learn math if(this.distanceTo(gobjs[this.fields[i]]) > gobjs[this.fields[i]].a.size*10) this.fields.splice(i); // out of range, stop effecting. } }); } }); } Thanks in advance. The real trick is that one line: { this.a.angle = angletosun+(75+(distance*-1)/5); } This is more a physics question than Javascript, but I've searched and searched and read way to many wiki articles on orbital mathematics. It gets over my head very quickly. Edit: There is a weirdness with the SO formatting; forgives me, I is noobie.

  • Updating D3 column chart with different values and different data sizes

    - by mbeasley
    Background I am attempting to create a reusable chart object with D3.js. I have setup a chart() function that will produce a column chart. On a click event on any of the columns, the chart will update with a new random data array that will contain a random number of data points (i.e. the original chart could have 8 columns, but upon update, could have 20 columns or 4 columns). Problem Say I have 8 data points (and thus 8 columns) in my original dataset. When I update the chart with random data, the columns appropriately adjust their height to the new values - but new bars aren't added. Additionally, while the width of the columns appropriately adjust to accommodate the width of the container and the new number of data points, if that number of data points is less than the original set, then some of those columns from the original dataset will linger until the number of data points is greater than or equal than the original. My end goal is to have new data dynamically added or old data outside of the range of the new data count dynamically removed. I've created a jsfiddle of the behavior. You may have to click the columns a couple of times to see the behavior I'm describing. Additionally, I've pasted my code below. Thanks in advance! function chart(config) { // set default options var defaultOptions = { selector: '#chartZone', class: 'chart', id: null, data: [1,2,6,4, 2, 6, 7, 2], type: 'column', width: 200, height: 200, callback: null, interpolate: 'monotone' }; // fill in unspecified settings in the config with the defaults var settings = $.extend(defaultOptions, config); function my() { // generate chart with this function var w = settings.width, h = settings.height, barPadding = 3, scale = 10, max = d3.max(settings.data); var svg = d3.select(settings.selector) // create the main svg container .append("svg") .attr("width",w) .attr("height",h); var y = d3.scale.linear().range([h, 0]), yAxis = d3.svg.axis().scale(y).ticks(5).orient("left"), x = d3.scale.linear().range([w, 0]); y.domain([0, max]).nice(); x.domain([0, settings.data.length - 1]).nice(); var rect = svg.selectAll("rect") .data(settings.data) .enter() .append("rect") .attr("x", function(d,i) { return i * (w / settings.data.length); }) .attr("y", function(d) { return h - h * (d / max); }) .attr("width", w / settings.data.length - barPadding) .attr("height", function(d) { return h * (d / max); }) .attr("fill", "rgb(90,90,90)"); svg.append("svg:g") .attr("class", "y axis") .attr("transform", "translate(-4,0)") .call(yAxis); svg.on("click", function() { var newData = [], maxCap = Math.round(Math.random() * 100); for (var i = 0; i < Math.round(Math.random()*100); i++) { var newNumber = Math.random() * maxCap; newData.push(Math.round(newNumber)); } newMax = d3.max(newData); y.domain([0, newMax]).nice(); var t = svg.transition().duration(750); t.select(".y.axis").call(yAxis); rect.data(newData) .transition().duration(750) .attr("height", function(d) { return h * (d / newMax); }) .attr("x", function(d,i) { return i * (w / newData.length); }) .attr("width", w / newData.length - barPadding) .attr("y", function(d) { return h - h * (d / newMax); }); }); } my(); return my; } var myChart = chart();

  • XmlNode.RemoveChild() recursive

    - by Lord Vader
    Hi, my problem is the following: How can I remove selected ChildNodes from XmlNode recursively? My XML-file looks like... ..<element type="TextBox" id="xslFilePath"> <parameters> <parameter id="description"> <value><![CDATA[Pfad zur XSL]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[XSL-file's path]]></value> </parameter> <parameter id="tooltip"> <value><![CDATA[Pfad zur XSL]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[XSL-file's path]]></value> </parameter> </parameters> <values> <value><![CDATA[/include/extensions/languageReferences/xsl/default.xsl]]></value> </values> </element> <element type="DropDownList" id="imageOrientation"> <parameters> <parameter id="description"> <value><![CDATA[Anordnung]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[Orientation]]></value> </parameter> <parameter id="tooltip"> <value><![CDATA[Anordnung]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[Orientation]]></value> </parameter> </parameters> <items> <item id="" selected="true"> <parameters> <parameter id="value"> <value><![CDATA[vertical]]></value> </parameter> <parameter id="description"> <value><![CDATA[senkrecht]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[vertical]]></value> </parameter> </parameters> </item> <item id="" selected="false"> <parameters> <parameter id="value"> <value><![CDATA[horizontal]]></value> </parameter> <parameter id="description"> <value><![CDATA[waagerecht]]></value> <value lang="en"><![CDATA[horizontal]]></value> </parameter> </parameters> </item> </items> <values> <value><![CDATA[horizontal]]></value> </values> </element>... I would like to remove all nodes (type of value) where the parentNode is type of parameter with id="description" but not value-notes as children of values or parameter with id="value" In XSLT I would say e.g.: //value[parent::parameter[@id='description'] and @lang='en']The problem is: I have the language code: e.g. "de" and now I would like to remove all sibling value nodes if an value with lang="de" exists and remove all sibling nodes excluding the value without any lang-attribute if lang="de" not exists (as fallback) I hope, you can help me to write an c# Code to replace recursively all undesired value-nodes.

  • Trouble with setting entry point for GWT service

    - by Xorty
    Hello. I've followed serveral tutorials and read official docs at code.google.com, but still didn't manage to resolve this thing. I am creating simple service that'll check if user can be logged. CLIENT SIDE: public interface LoginService extends RemoteService { /** * Checks, if user has valid login. * @param user User's login. * @return True if such a login is in the database. */ boolean isValidUser(User user); } And here is Async interface: public interface LoginServiceAsync { /** * Checks, if user has valid login. * @param user User's login. * @param callback the callback to return True if such a login is in the database. */ void isValidUser(User user, AsyncCallback<Boolean> callback); } SERVER SIDE: public class LoginServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements LoginService { /** * serial version UID */ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1044980345057997696L; /**{@inheritDoc} */ @Override public boolean isValidUser(User user) { boolean success = true; //TODO change } } Now I have entry point class MailClient.java. I append here widget like: CustomWidgets.getLoginWidget(this); // access rootPanel and append widget Now I need to make actual call to my service, and here is problem: LoginServiceAsync loginService = (LoginServiceAsync) GWT.create(LoginService.class); User user = new User(boxName.getText(), boxPassword.getText()); AsyncCallback<Boolean> callback = new AsyncCallback<Boolean>() { @Override public void onFailure(Throwable caught) { Window.alert(caught.getMessage()); //TODO change } @Override public void onSuccess(Boolean result) { Window.alert("success"); //TODO change } }; ((ServiceDefTarget) loginService).setServiceEntryPoint(GWT.getModuleBaseURL()+"login"); // dunno what should be here So to recap, I don't know how to set service's entry point. • Constructor ambiguous quesiton

    I'm trying to create a simple date class, but I get an error on my main file that says, "call of overloaded Date() is ambiguous." I'm not sure why since I thought as long as I had different parameters for my constructor, I was ok. Here is my code: header file: #ifndef DATE_H #define DATE_H using std::string; class Date { public: static const int monthsPerYear = 12; // num of months in a yr Date(int = 1, int = 1, int = 1900); // default constructor Date(); // uses system time to create object void print() const; // print date in month/day/year format ~Date(); // provided to confirm destruction order string getMonth(int month) const; // gets month in text format private: int month; // 1 - 12 int day; // 1 - 31 int year; // any year int checkDay(int) const; }; #endif .cpp file #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <string> #include <ctime> #include "Date.h" using namespace std; Date::Date() { time_t seconds = time(NULL); struct tm* t = localtime(&seconds); month = t->tm_mon; day = t->tm_mday; year = t->tm_year; } Date::Date(int mn, int dy, int yr) { if (mn > 0 && mn <= monthsPerYear) month = mn; else { month = 1; // invalid month set to 1 cout << "Invalid month (" << mn << ") set to 1.\n"; } year = yr; // could validate yr day = checkDay(dy); // validate the day // output Date object to show when its constructor is called cout << "Date object constructor for date "; print(); cout << endl; } void Date::print() const { string str; cout << month << '/' << day << '/' << year << '\n'; // new code for HW2 cout << setfill('0') << setw(3) << day; // prints in ddd cout << " " << year << '\n'; // yyyy format str = getMonth(month); // prints in month (full word), day, year cout << str << " " << day << ", " << year << '\n'; } and my main.cpp #include <iostream> #include "Date.h" using std::cout; int main() { Date date1(4, 30, 1980); date1.print(); cout << '\n'; Date date2; date2.print(); }

  • How to scale rotated objects properly in Actionscript 3?

    - by Tom
    This is unfortunately a quite complex issue to explain, so please don't get discouraged by the wall of text - it's there for a reason. ;) I'm working on a transformation manager for flash, written with Actionscript 3. Users can place objects on the screen, for example a rectangle. This rectangle can then be selected and transformed: move, scale or rotate. Because flash by default rotates around the top left point of the object, and I want it to rotate around the center, I created a wrapper setup for each display object (eg. a rectangle). This is how the wrappers are setup: //the position wrapper makes sure that we do get the top left position when we access x and y var positionWrapper:Sprite = new Sprite(); positionWrapper.x = renderObject.x; positionWrapper.y = renderObject.y; //set the render objects location to center at the rotation wrappers top left renderObject.x = 0 - renderObject.width / 2; renderObject.y = 0 - renderObject.height / 2; //now create a rotation wrapper, at the center of the display object var rotationWrapper:Sprite = new Sprite(); rotationWrapper.x = renderObject.width / 2; rotationWrapper.y = renderObject.height / 2; //put the rotation wrapper inside the position wrapper and the render object inside the rotation wrapper positionWrapper.addChild(rotationWrapper); rotationWrapper.addChild(renderObject); Now, the x and y of the object can be accessed and set directly: mainWrapper.x or mainWrapper.y. The rotation can be set and accessed from the child of this main wrapper: mainWrapper.getChildAt(0).rotation. Finally, the width and height of the display object can be retreived and set by getting the child of the rotation wrapper and accessing the display object directly. An example on how I access them: //get wrappers and render object var positionWrapper:Sprite = currentSelection["render"]; var rotationWrapper:Sprite = positionWrapper.getChildAt(0) as Sprite; var renderObject:DisplayObject = rotationWrapper.getChildAt(0); This works perfectly for all initial transformations: moving, scaling and rotating. However, the problem arises when you first rotate an object (eg. 45 degrees) and then scale it. The scaled object is getting out of shape and doesn't scale as it should. This for example happens when you scale to the left. Scaling left is basically adding n width to the object and then reduce the x coord of the position wrapper by n too: renderObject.width -= diffX; positionWrapper.x += diffX; This works when the object is not rotated. However, when it is, the position wrapper won't be rotated as it is a parent of the rotation wrapper. This will make the position wrapper move left horizontally while the width of the object is increased diagonally. I hope this makes any sense, if not, please tell me and I'll try to elaborate more. Now, to the question: should I use a different kind of setup, system or structure? Should I maybe use matrixes, if so, how would you keep a static width/height after rotation? Or how do I fix my current wrapper system for scaling after rotation? Any help is appreciated.

  • How to code a time delay between plotting points in JFreeCharts?

    - by Javajava
    Is there a way to animate the plotting process of an xy-line chart using JFreeCharts? I want to be able to watch the program draw each line segment and connect them. For example, if I paste this into the TextArea, "gtgtaaacaatatatggcg," I want to watch it graph each line segment one by one. Thanks in advance! :) My code is below: import java.util.Scanner; import java.applet.Applet; import java.awt.; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import org.jfree.chart.; import org.jfree.chart.plot.PlotOrientation; import org.jfree.data.xy.*; public class RandomWalkComplete extends Applet implements ActionListener { Panel panel; TextArea textarea, outputArea; Button move,exit; String thetext; Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in); String thetext2; Label instructions; int x,y; public void init() { setSize(500,250); //set size of applet instructions=new Label("Paste the gene sequences in the " + "text field and press the graph button."); add(instructions); panel = new Panel(); add(panel); setVisible(true); textarea= new TextArea(10,20); add(textarea); move=new Button("Graph"); move.addActionListener(this); add(move); exit=new Button("Exit"); exit.addActionListener(this); add(exit); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { XYSeries series = new XYSeries("DNA Walk",false,true); x= 0; y = 0; series.add(x,y); if(e.getSource() == move) { thetext=textarea.getText(); //the text is the DNA bases pasted thetext=thetext.replaceAll(" ",""); //removes spaces thetext2 = ""; for(int i=0; i<thetext.length(); i++) { char a = thetext.charAt(i); switch (a) { case 'A': case 'a'://moves right x+=1; y+=0; series.add(x,y); break; case 'C': case 'c': //moves up x+=0; y+=1; series.add(x,y); break; case 'G': case 'g': //move left x-=1; y+=0; series.add(x,y); break; case 'T': case 't'://move down x+=0; y-=1; series.add(x,y); break; default: // series.add(0,0); break; } } XYDataset xyDataset = new XYSeriesCollection(series); JFreeChart chart = ChartFactory.createXYLineChart ("DNA Random Walk", "", "", xyDataset, PlotOrientation.VERTICAL, true, true, false); ChartFrame frame1=new ChartFrame("DNA Random Walk",chart); frame1.setVisible(true); frame1.setSize(300,300); } if(e.getSource()==exit) {System.exit(0);} } public void stop(){} }

  • Strange issues with view switcher after object animator animations

    - by Barry Irvine
    I have two LinearLayout views that contain a number of edit texts and checkboxes for entering user information (name, email address etc). When a validation fails on one of these fields a gone textview is displayed showing the validation error. I have enclosed the two layouts within a ViewSwitcher and I animate between the two views using the ObjectAnimator class. (Since the code needs to support older versions of Android I am actually using the nineoldandroids backwards compatibility library for this). The bulk of the work is performed in my switchToChild method. If I flip the views more than twice then I start to run into strange errors. Firstly although the correct child view of the view animator is displayed it seems that the other view has focus and I can click on the views beneath the current one. I resolved this issue by adding a viewSwitcher.bringChildToFront at the end of the first animation. When I do this however and perform a validation on the 2nd view the "gone" view that I have now set to visible is not displayed (as if the linearlayout is never being re-measured). Here is a subset of the XML file: <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@+id/TitleBar" android:scrollbarAlwaysDrawVerticalTrack="true" android:scrollbarStyle="outsideOverlay" android:scrollbars="vertical" > <ViewSwitcher android:id="@+id/switcher" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/page_1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <!-- Lots of subviews here --> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/page_2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > And this is the main method for flipping between the views: private void switchToChild(final int child) { final ViewSwitcher viewSwitcher = (ViewSwitcher) findViewById(R.id.switcher); if (viewSwitcher.getDisplayedChild() != child) { final Interpolator accelerator = new AccelerateInterpolator(); final Interpolator decelerator = new DecelerateInterpolator(); final View visibleView; final View invisibleView; switch (child) { case 0: visibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_2); invisibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_1); findViewById(R.id.next).setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); findViewById(R.id.back).setVisibility(View.GONE); break; case 1: default: visibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_1); invisibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_2); findViewById(R.id.back).setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); findViewById(R.id.next).setVisibility(View.GONE); break; } final ObjectAnimator visToInvis = ObjectAnimator.ofFloat(visibleView, "rotationY", 0f, 90f).setDuration(250); visToInvis.setInterpolator(accelerator); final ObjectAnimator invisToVis = ObjectAnimator.ofFloat(invisibleView, "rotationY", -90f, 0f).setDuration(250); invisToVis.setInterpolator(decelerator); visToInvis.addListener(new AnimatorListenerAdapter() { @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animator anim) { viewSwitcher.showNext(); invisToVis.start(); viewSwitcher.bringChildToFront(invisibleView); // If I don't do this the old view can have focus } }); visToInvis.start(); } } Does anyone have any ideas? This is really confusing me!

I used the tabBar template provided by xcode no modifications.

  • Jquery Close/Open Multiple Toggles

    - by Pedro
    Hi, I have the toggle in my menu Working successfully for the two links that I have within it. Because the top link once toggled covers the other link, there is no problem. But since the link beneath it leaves the top link exposed, a user could click that and now have two toggled items open and pretty much stacked on top of each other. Is there a way for me to check if the other toggled item is open and if so, close it? • Segfault on copy constructor for string

    - by user2756569
    I'm getting a segfault on a line where I'm creating a c++ string with the copy constructor. I've looked at some of the similar issues, but they're all due to passing in a bad c++ string object. I'm just passing in a raw string, so I'm not sure what my issue is. I'll paste the relevant snippets of code (it's taken from several different files, so it might look a bit jumbled). The segfault occurs in the 4th line of the default constructor for the Species class. Species::Species(string _type) { program_length = 0; cout << _type << " 1\n"; cout << type << " 2\n"; type = string(_type); } Grid::Grid(int _width, int _height) { *wall = Species("wall"); *empty = Species("empty"); turn_number = 0; width = _width; height = _height; for(int a= 0; a < 100; a++) for(int b = 0; b< 100; b++) { Creature empty_creature = Creature(*empty,a,b,NORTH,this); (Grid::map)[a][b] = empty_creature; } } int main() { Grid world = Grid(8,8); } class Grid { protected: Creature map[100][100]; int width,height; int turn_number; Species *empty; Species *wall; public: Grid(); Grid(int _width, int _height); void addCreature(Species &_species, int x, int y, Direction orientation); void addWall(int x, int y); void takeTurn(); void infect(int x, int y, Direction orientation, Species &_species); void hop(int x, int y, Direction orientation); bool ifWall(int x, int y, Direction orientation); bool ifEnemy(int x, int y, Direction orientation, Species &_species); bool ifEmpty(int x, int y, Direction orientation); void print(); }; class Species { protected: int program_length; string program[100]; string type; public: species(string _type); void addInstruction(string instruction); bool isWall(); bool isEmpty(); bool isEnemy(Species _enemy); string instructionAt(int index); string getType(); };

  • Getting a seg fault, having trouble with classes and variables.

    - by celestialorb
    Ok, so I'm still learning the ropes of C++ here so I apologize if this is a simple mistake. I have this class: class RunFrame : public wxFrame { public: RunFrame(); void OnKey(wxKeyEvent& keyEvent); private: // Configuration variables. const wxString *title; const wxPoint *origin; const wxSize *size; const wxColour *background; const wxColour *foreground; const wxString *placeholder; // Control variables. wxTextCtrl *command; // Event table. DECLARE_EVENT_TABLE() }; ...then in the OnKey method I have this code: void RunFrame::OnKey(wxKeyEvent& keyEvent) { // Take the key and process it. if(WXK_RETURN == keyEvent.GetKeyCode()) { bool empty = command -> IsEmpty(); } // Propogate the event through. keyEvent.Skip(); } ...but my program keeps seg faulting when it reaches the line where I attempt to call the IsEmpty method from the command variable. My question is, "Why?" In the constructor of the RunFrame class I can seemingly call methods for the command variable in the same way I'm doing so in the OnKey method...and it compiles correctly, it just seg faults on me when it attempts to execute that line. Here is the code for the constructor if necessary: RunFrame::RunFrame() : wxFrame(NULL, wxID_ANY, wxT("DEFAULT"), wxDefaultPosition, wxDefaultSize, wxBORDER_NONE) { // Create the styling constants. title = new wxString(wxT("RUN")); origin = new wxPoint(0, 0); size = new wxSize(250, 25); background = new wxColour(33, 33, 33); foreground = new wxColour(255, 255, 255); placeholder = new wxString(wxT("command")); // Set the styling for the frame. this -> SetTitle(*title); this -> SetSize(*size); // Create the panel and attach the TextControl to it. wxPanel *panel = new wxPanel(this, wxID_ANY, *origin, *size, wxBORDER_NONE); // Create the text control and attach it to the panel. command = new wxTextCtrl(panel, wxID_ANY, *placeholder, *origin, *size); // Set the styling for the text control. command -> SetBackgroundColour(*background); command -> SetForegroundColour(*foreground); // Connect the key event to the text control. command -> Connect(wxEVT_CHAR, wxKeyEventHandler(RunFrame::OnKey)); // Set the focus to the command box. command -> SetFocus(); } Thanks in advance for any help you can give! • Matrix Multiplication with Threads: Why is it not faster?

    - by prelic
    Hey all, So I've been playing around with pthreads, specifically trying to calculate the product of two matrices. My code is extremely messy because it was just supposed to be a quick little fun project for myself, but the thread theory I used was very similar to: #include <pthread.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define M 3 #define K 2 #define N 3 #define NUM_THREADS 10 int A [M][K] = { {1,4}, {2,5}, {3,6} }; int B [K][N] = { {8,7,6}, {5,4,3} }; int C [M][N]; struct v { int i; /* row */ int j; /* column */ }; void *runner(void *param); /* the thread */ int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int i,j, count = 0; for(i = 0; i < M; i++) { for(j = 0; j < N; j++) { //Assign a row and column for each thread struct v *data = (struct v *) malloc(sizeof(struct v)); data->i = i; data->j = j; /* Now create the thread passing it data as a parameter */ pthread_t tid; //Thread ID pthread_attr_t attr; //Set of thread attributes //Get the default attributes pthread_attr_init(&attr); //Create the thread pthread_create(&tid,&attr,runner,data); //Make sure the parent waits for all thread to complete pthread_join(tid, NULL); count++; } } //Print out the resulting matrix for(i = 0; i < M; i++) { for(j = 0; j < N; j++) { printf("%d ", C[i][j]); } printf("\n"); } } //The thread will begin control in this function void *runner(void *param) { struct v *data = param; // the structure that holds our data int n, sum = 0; //the counter and sum //Row multiplied by column for(n = 0; n< K; n++){ sum += A[data->i][n] * B[n][data->j]; } //assign the sum to its coordinate C[data->i][data->j] = sum; //Exit the thread pthread_exit(0); } source: http://macboypro.com/blog/2009/06/29/matrix-multiplication-in-c-using-pthreads-on-linux/ For the non-threaded version, I used the same setup (3 2-d matrices, dynamically allocated structs to hold r/c), and added a timer. First trials indicated that the non-threaded version was faster. My first thought was that the dimensions were too small to notice a difference, and it was taking longer to create the threads. So I upped the dimensions to about 50x50, randomly filled, and ran it, and I'm still not seeing any performance upgrade with the threaded version. What am I missing here?

  • Hibernate - strange order of native SQL parameters

    - by Xorty
    Hello, I am trying to use native MySQL's MD5 crypto func, so I defined custom insert in my mapping file. <hibernate-mapping package="tutorial"> <class name="com.xorty.mailclient.client.domain.User" table="user"> <id name="login" type="string" column="login"></id> <property name="password"> <column name="password" /> </property> <sql-insert>INSERT INTO user (login,password) VALUES ( ?, MD5(?) )</sql-insert> </class> </hibernate-mapping> Then I create User (pretty simple POJO with just 2 Strings - login and password) and try to persist it. session.beginTransaction(); // we have no such user in here yet User junitUser = (User) session.load(User.class, "junit_user"); assert (null == junitUser); // insert new user junitUser = new User(); junitUser.setLogin("junit_user"); junitUser.setPassword("junitpass"); session.save(junitUser); session.getTransaction().commit(); What actually happens? User is created, but with reversed parameters order. He has login "junitpass" and "junit_user" is MD5 encrypted and stored as password. What did I wrong? Thanks EDIT: ADDING POJO class package com.xorty.mailclient.client.domain; import java.io.Serializable; /** * POJO class representing user. * @author MisoV * @version 0.1 */ public class User implements Serializable { /** * Generated UID */ private static final long serialVersionUID = -969127095912324468L; private String login; private String password; /** * @return login */ public String getLogin() { return login; } /** * @return password */ public String getPassword() { return password; } /** * @param login the login to set */ public void setLogin(String login) { this.login = login; } /** * @param password the password to set */ public void setPassword(String password) { this.password = password; } /** * @see java.lang.Object#toString() * @return login */ @Override public String toString() { return login; } /** * Creates new User. * @param login User's login. * @param password User's password. */ public User(String login, String password) { setLogin(login); setPassword(password); } /** * Default constructor */ public User() { } /** * @return hashCode * @see java.lang.Object#hashCode() */ @Override public int hashCode() { final int prime = 31; int result = 1; result = prime * result + ((null == login) ? 0 : login.hashCode()); result = prime * result + ((null == password) ? 0 : password.hashCode()); return result; } /** * @param obj Compared object * @return True, if objects are same. Else false. * @see java.lang.Object#equals(java.lang.Object) */ @Override public boolean equals(Object obj) { if (this == obj) { return true; } if (obj == null) { return false; } if (!(obj instanceof User)) { return false; } User other = (User) obj; if (login == null) { if (other.login != null) { return false; } } else if (!login.equals(other.login)) { return false; } if (password == null) { if (other.password != null) { return false; } } else if (!password.equals(other.password)) { return false; } return true; } }
