  • Why is the class wrong for NSFetchRequest?

    - by Stephen Furlani
Hello, I am working with an undocumented API (Osirix) and I have a sister-question to the one I posted here. I am having trouble loading objects from a managed object context. With loading from API, using their instance of _context and _model 2010-05-28 14:05:13.588 OsiriX[44012:a0f] Entity: Study 2010-05-28 14:05:13.589 OsiriX[44012:a0f] EntityClassName: DicomStudy 2010-05-28 14:05:13.589 OsiriX[44012:a0f] ClassName: DicomStudy With loading from Fetch Request (and my own instance of _context, and _model) 2010-05-28 14:19:09.956 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] Entity: Study 2010-05-28 14:19:09.957 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] EntityClassName: DicomStudy 2010-05-28 14:19:09.958 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] ClassName: NSManagedObject output given by: NSLog(@"Entity: %@",[[item entity] name]); NSLog(@"EntityClassName: %@", [[item entity] managedObjectClassName]); NSLog(@"ClassName: %s", class_getName(object_getClass([item class]))); So it is obvious that even though the Entity thinks it is a DicomSeries - it is not. It is just a NSManagedObject. DicomSeries has some "hard-coded" KVC stuff that I ran into a problem with in my other question. I'm pursuing a different line of reasoning in this thread - with the loading of the objects. The following is their code: - (NSManagedObjectModel *)managedObjectModel { if (managedObjectModel) return managedObjectModel; NSMutableSet *allBundles = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; [allBundles addObject: [NSBundle mainBundle]]; [allBundles addObjectsFromArray: [NSBundle allFrameworks]]; managedObjectModel = [[NSManagedObjectModel alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"/OsiriXDB_DataModel.mom"]]]; [allBundles release]; return managedObjectModel; } - (NSManagedObjectContext *) managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary:(BOOL) loadIfNecessary { NSError *error = nil; NSString *localizedDescription; NSFileManager *fileManager; if( currentDatabasePath == nil) return nil; if (managedObjectContext) return managedObjectContext; if( loadIfNecessary == NO) return nil; fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; [persistentStoreCoordinator release]; persistentStoreCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: self.managedObjectModel]; managedObjectContext = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [managedObjectContext setPersistentStoreCoordinator: persistentStoreCoordinator]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: currentDatabasePath]; if (![persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:url options:nil error:&error]) { NSLog(@"********** managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary FAILED: %@", error); localizedDescription = [error localizedDescription]; error = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"OsiriXDomain" code:0 userInfo:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:error, NSUnderlyingErrorKey, [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Store Configuration Failure: %@", ((localizedDescription != nil) ? localizedDescription : @"Unknown Error")], NSLocalizedDescriptionKey, nil]]; } [[managedObjectContext undoManager] setLevelsOfUndo: 1]; [[managedObjectContext undoManager] disableUndoRegistration]; // This line is very important, if there is NO database.sql file [self saveDatabase: currentDatabasePath]; return managedObjectContext; } This is my code: NSManagedObjectModel* DataModule::managedObjectModel() { if (_managedObjectModel) return _managedObjectModel; NSMutableSet *allBundles = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; [allBundles addObject: [NSBundle mainBundle]]; [allBundles addObjectsFromArray: [NSBundle allFrameworks]]; _managedObjectModel = [[NSManagedObjectModel alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"/OsiriXDB_DataModel.mom"]]]; [allBundles release]; return [_managedObjectModel retain]; } ... NSError *error = nil; [_storeCoordinator release]; _storeCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: managedObjectModel()]; _context = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [_context setPersistentStoreCoordinator: _storeCoordinator]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[NSString alloc] initWithCString:_DBPath.c_str()]]; if (url == nil) { [pool release]; _loadLock = false; return nil; } if (![_storeCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:url options:nil error:&error]) { NSLog(@"********** managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary FAILED: %@", error); NSString *localizedDescription = [error localizedDescription]; error = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"OsiriXDomain" code:0 userInfo:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:error, NSUnderlyingErrorKey, [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Store Configuration Failure: %@", ((localizedDescription != nil) ? localizedDescription : @"Unknown Error")], NSLocalizedDescriptionKey, nil]]; //Exit Failure [pool release]; _loadLock = false; return nil; } [[_context undoManager] setLevelsOfUndo: 1]; [[_context undoManager] disableUndoRegistration]; ... I am including all the same frameworks.... but _allBundles isn't even used to create the managedObjectModel so I don't know what it's supposed to do except load them into memory so that the mom can look at them while loading. Totally lost. Help! Why would objects returned by my FetchRequest with the same Entity come out as NSManagedObjects and not DicomStudys? I'm including DicomStudy.h so it should see the object during creation of the model, context, and fetch request. [request setEntity: [[managedObjectModel() entitiesByName] objectForKey:@"Study"]]; Thanks in advance, -Stephen

  • UIAlertView with subview animating to new view crashes app

    - by William
UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Congratulations" message:message delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"View", nil]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(110, 100, 80, 80)]; NSString *imagePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", [Array objectAtIndex:x]]; UIImage *bkgImg = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:imagePath ofType:@"png"]]; imageView.image = bkgImg; [bkgImg release]; [alert addSubview:imageView]; [imageView release]; [alert show]; [alert release]; That is the code that I am using to create the alert view. Currently, I have it set up so if the user presses one of the buttons, it will load up a new viewcontroller. It worked fine until I added a subview to the UIAlertView. Now, whenever it animates to the new screen, it just crashes the program. I am fairly new to iPhone development and any help would be appreciated.

  • Quartz 2D's drawing text and NSTimer in custom method

    - by coure06
i want to show text using quartz 2d. Text will be drawing randomly on different position after each 1 seconds. I am not sure how i can use NSTimer with quartz 2D text. I can draw text in drawRect method where graphics context is already available. How i will draw text using my custom method myDraw which will be called after 1 second using NSTimer? If i create my custom Method the graphics context is not available in that method.

  • Weirdest occurence ever, UIButton @selector detecting right button, doing wrong 'else_if'?

    - by Scott
So I dynamically create 3 UIButtons (for now), with this loop: NSMutableArray *sites = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *one = @"Constution Center"; NSString *two = @"Franklin Court"; NSString *three = @"Presidents House"; [sites addObject: one]; [one release]; [sites addObject: two]; [two release]; [sites addObject: three]; [three release]; NSString *element; int j = 0; for (element in sites) { UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; //setframe (where on screen) //separation is 15px past the width (45-30) button.frame = CGRectMake(a, b + (j*45), c, d); [button setTitle:element forState:UIControlStateNormal]; button.backgroundColor = [SiteOneController myColor1]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(showCCView:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [button setTag:j]; [self.view addSubview: button]; j++; } The @Selector method is here: - (void) showCCView:(id) sender { UIButton *button = (UIButton *)sender; int whichButton = button.tag; NSString* myNewString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", whichButton]; self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; UINavigationBar *cc = [SiteOneController myNavBar1:@"Constitution Center Content"]; UINavigationBar *fc = [SiteOneController myNavBar1:@"Franklin Court Content"]; UINavigationBar *ph = [SiteOneController myNavBar1:@"Presidents House Content"]; if (whichButton = 0) { NSLog(myNewString); [self.view addSubview:cc]; } else if (whichButton = 1) { NSLog(myNewString); [self.view addSubview:fc]; } else if (whichButton = 2) { NSLog(myNewString); [self.view addSubview:ph]; } } Now, it is printing the correct button tag to NSLog, as shown in the method, however EVERY SINGLE BUTTON is displaying a navigation bar with "Franklin Court" as the title, EVERY SINGLE ONE, even though when I click button 0, it says "Button 0 clicked" in the console, but still performs the else if (whichButton = 1) code. Am I missing something here?

  • Binding CoreData Managed Object to NSTextFieldCell subclass

    - by ndg
I have an NSTableView which has its first column set to contain a custom NSTextFieldCell. My custom NSTextFieldCell needs to allow the user to edit a "desc" property within my Managed Object but to also display an "info" string that it contains (which is not editable). To achieve this, I followed this tutorial. In a nutshell, the tutorial suggests editing your Managed Objects generated subclass to create and pass a dictionary of its contents to your NSTableColumn via bindings. This works well for read-only NSCell implementations, but I'm looking to subclass NSTextFieldCell to allow the user to edit the "desc" property of my Managed Object. To do this, I followed one of the articles comments, which suggests subclassing NSFormatter to explicitly state which Managed Object property you would like the NSTextFieldCell to edit. Here's the suggested implementation: @implementation TRTableDescFormatter - (BOOL)getObjectValue:(id *)anObject forString:(NSString *)string errorDescription:(NSString **)error { if (anObject != nil){ *anObject = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:string forKey:@"desc"]; return YES; } return NO; } - (NSString *)stringForObjectValue:(id)anObject { if (![anObject isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) return nil; return [anObject valueForKey:@"desc"]; } - (NSAttributedString*)attributedStringForObjectValue:(id)anObject withDefaultAttributes:(NSDictionary *)attrs { if (![anObject isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) return nil; NSAttributedString *anAttributedString = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString: [anObject valueForKey:@"desc"]]; return anAttributedString; } @end I assign the NSFormatter subclass to my cell in my NSTextFieldCell subclass, like so: - (void)awakeFromNib { TRTableDescFormatter *formatter = [[[TRTableDescFormatter alloc] init] autorelease]; [self setFormatter:formatter]; } This seems to work, but falls down when editing multiple rows. The behaviour I'm seeing is that editing a row will work as expected until you try to edit another row. Upon editing another row, all previously edited rows will have their "desc" value set to the value of the currently selected row. I've been doing a lot of reading on this subject and would really like to get to the bottom of this. What's more frustrating is that my NSTextFieldCell is rendering exactly how I would like it to. This editing issue is my last obstacle! If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Foundation framework. No NSString.h file

    - by pawelini1
Hello I'm getting a few errors just after I updated my working copy via SVN. /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSCharacterSet.h:8:0 /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSCharacterSet.h:8:32: error: Foundation/NSString.h: No such file or directory /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSCharacterSet.h:45:0 /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSCharacterSet.h:45: error: expected ')' before 'unichar' /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSPathUtilities.h:10:0 /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSPathUtilities.h:10: error: cannot find interface declaration for 'NSString' All that errors tell that compiler is unable to find NSString.h file in Foundation framework and I have opened the Foundation framework in Xcode/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers and noticed that there is no NSString header file there. Could anyone tell me what happened? I tried to delete the framework and add it again but it failed to. Still I don't have NSString header file.

  • NSScrollView jumping to bottom on scroll

    - by Nick Locking
    I have an NSScrollView containing an NSImageView, which resizes based on various factors. When it resizes I have generally changed the image, so I scroll the NSScrollView to the top. This works fine. However, when I start to scroll the NSScrollView again, it moves a few pixels and then (most of the time) jumps to the bottom of the scroll. After it jumps once, it works as normal until I move the scroller to the top again. This is driving me insane. All I'm really doing is this: [_imageView setImage: anNSImage]; NSRect frame; NSSize imageSize = [anNSImage] size]; frame.size = imageSize; frame.origin = NSZeroPoint; [_imageView setFrame: frame]; [[_mainScrollview contentView] scrollToPoint: NSMakePoint(0, [_imageView frame].size.height - [_mainScrollview frame].size.height)];

  • NSOutlineView/NSTreeController - calculate sum of column

    - by matei
I have a NSOutlineView bound to a NSTreeController. My data items are a custom class , let's call them "Row", and suppose a Row contains a "name" and a numeric field called "number" . All these "Rows" are found in let's say a "RowContainer" which has a "rows" mutable array holding the parent (level 0) rows. Each row also has a "children" NSMutableArray member which holds it's children. I have this working, and I want to display under the outlineview a textfield with the sum of all the "number" values of the rows. I bound this textfield to a "total" property of the "RowContainer". Now the problem is how or from where to trigger the recalculation of the "total" property, since this involves a recursive walk on the tree of rows, and I always get a "Collection was mutated while being enumerated" error. I've tried making a method "recalculateTotal", and calling it from the "setNumber" method of the "Row" class , but same error occurs. If I put the recalculation logic in the "total" getter, I can't trigger it to do the math. I'm sure the solution is simple but I can't see it

  • Problem with the dateformatter's in Iphone sdk.

    - by monish
    Hi guys, Here I had a problem with the date formatters actually I had an option to search events based on the date.for this Im comparing the date with the date store in the database and getting the event based on the date for this I wrote the code as follows: -(NSMutableArray*)getSearchAllLists:(EventsList*)aEvent { [searchList removeAllObjects]; EventsList *searchEvent = nil; const char* sql; NSString *conditionStr = @" where "; if([aEvent.eventName length] > 0) { NSString *str = @"'%"; str = [str stringByAppendingString:aEvent.eventName]; str = [str stringByAppendingString:@"%'"]; conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" eventName like %s",[str UTF8String]]]; } if([aEvent.eventWineName length]>0) { NSString *str = @"'%"; str = [str stringByAppendingString:aEvent.eventWineName]; str = [str stringByAppendingString:@"%'"]; if([aEvent.eventName length]>0) { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" and (wineName like %s)",[str UTF8String]]]; } else { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"wineName like %s",[str UTF8String]]]; } } if([aEvent.eventVariety length]>0) { NSString *str = @"'%"; str = [str stringByAppendingString:aEvent.eventVariety]; str = [str stringByAppendingString:@"%'"]; if([aEvent.eventName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWineName length]>0) { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" and (variety like %s)",[str UTF8String]]]; } else { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"variety like %s" ,[str UTF8String]]]; } } if([aEvent.eventWinery length]>0) { NSString *str = @"'%"; str = [str stringByAppendingString:aEvent.eventWinery]; str = [str stringByAppendingString:@"%'"]; if([aEvent.eventName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWineName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventVariety length]>0) { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" and (winery like %s)",[str UTF8String]]]; } else { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"winery like %s" ,[str UTF8String]]]; } } if(aEvent.eventRatings >0) { if([aEvent.eventName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWineName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWinery length]>0 || [aEvent.eventVariety length]>0) { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" and ratings = %d",aEvent.eventRatings]]; } else { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" ratings = %d",aEvent.eventRatings]]; } } if(aEvent.eventDate >0) { NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc]init]; [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"dd-MMM-yy 23:59:59"]; NSString *dateStr = [dateFormatter stringFromDate:aEvent.eventDate]; NSDate *date = [dateFormatter dateFromString:dateStr]; [dateFormatter release]; NSTimeInterval interval = [date timeIntervalSinceReferenceDate]; printf("\n Interval in advance search:%f",interval); if([aEvent.eventName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWineName length]>0 || [aEvent.eventWinery length]>0 || aEvent.eventRatings>0 || [aEvent.eventVariety length]>0) { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" and eventDate = %f",interval]]; } else { conditionStr = [conditionStr stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@" eventDate = %f",interval]]; } } NSString* queryString= @" select * from event"; queryString = [queryString stringByAppendingString:conditionStr]; sqlite3_stmt* statement; sql = (char*)[queryString UTF8String]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sql, -1, &statement, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { NSAssert1(0, @"Error: failed to prepare statement with message '%s'.", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } sqlite3_bind_text(statement, 1, [aEvent.eventName UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_text(statement, 2, [aEvent.eventWineName UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_text(statement, 3, [aEvent.eventVariety UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_text(statement, 4, [aEvent.eventWinery UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_int(statement, 5,aEvent.eventRatings); sqlite3_bind_double(statement,6, [[aEvent eventDate] timeIntervalSinceReferenceDate]); while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { primaryKey = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); searchEvent = [[EventsList alloc] initWithPrimaryKey:primaryKey database:database]; [searchList addObject:searchEvent]; [searchEvent release]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); return searchList; } Here I compared the interval value in the database and the date we are searching and Im getting the different values and results were not found. Guy's help me to get rid of this. Anyone's help will be much appreciated. Thank you Monish Calapatapu.

  • Process touches behind the UINavigationBar

    - by Reed Olsen
In my application, I'm displaying a fullscreen image in a 320 x 480 frame. After I display the image, I fade the navigation bar out to allow the user to see the whole picture. When the user taps in the area where the navigation bar was, I would like to bring the navigation bar back. This is very similar to what happens in the iPhone Photos app. Unfortunately, after I've hidden the UINavigationBar, I can't process touches on the screen where the navigation bar once was. I believe this is because the origin of the parent view is right below the navigation bar: How can I process touches in this area to bring the nav bar back?

  • Calculate NSString size to adjust UITextField frame

    - by Bernd Plontsch
I have issues calculating the accurate size of a NSString displayed in a UITextField. My goal is to update the textfield frame size according to the string size programmatically (without using sizeToFit). I am using the sizeWithFont function. -(void)resizeTextFieldAccordingToText:(NSString*)textFieldString { CGPoint originalCenter = self.textField.center; UIFont* currentFont = [textField font]; CGSize newSize = [textFieldString sizeWithFont:currentFont]; //Same incorrect results with the extended version of sizeWithFont, e.g. //[textFieldString sizeWithFont:currentFont constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(300.0, 100.0) lineBreakMode:NSLineBreakByClipping]; [self.textField setFrame:(CGRectMake(self.textField.frame.origin.x, self.textField.frame.origin.y, newSize.width, newSize.height))]; [self.textField setCenter:originalCenter]; } Problem: While this return correct size results at first its becomes more and more unprecise by adding characters therefore finally starts clipping the string (as seen in the right screenshot). How do I get the accurate size of the textField string for correctly adjusting its size?

  • Replacing text in NSTextFieldCell inside NSTableView

    - by earl.ct
Whenever a user would type a number, my app would automatically prepend a currency sign before that number. For example, when the user types "1" in a text field, the text inside it becomes "$1.00". All is good when I use an NSNumberFormatter, an NSTextField, and its delegate method control:didFailToFormatString:errorDescription:. - (BOOL)control:(NSControl *)control didFailToFormatString:(NSString *)string errorDescription:(NSString *)error { if ([[control formatter] isKindOfClass:[NSNumberFormatter class]]) { NSNumberFormatter *formatter = [control formatter]; if ([formatter numberStyle] == NSNumberFormatterCurrencyStyle && ! [string hasPrefix:[formatter currencySymbol]]) { NSDecimalNumber *new = [NSDecimalNumber decimalNumberWithString:string]; if (new == [NSDecimalNumber notANumber]) { new = [NSDecimalNumber zero]; } [control setObjectValue:new]; } } return YES;} Now I would like to have this functionality when a user types a number in a cell inside an NSTableView. I tried using control:didFailToFormatString:errorDescription: but the cell would erase the text instead.

  • How do I determine which control fired an event?

    - by Daniel I-S
I have the Value Changed event of two UISliders (both of which have referencing outlets) wired up to the following method: -(IBAction) sliderMoved:(id) sender {} How can I determine which slider was moved so that I can get its value and update the corresponding label? Or would it be simpler to have two separate events, one for each slider? The second option seems like unnecessary replication to me. Cheers, Dan

  • Working with NSCalendar -- getting the next first tuesday of a month

    - by Bjorn S.
Hi all, This is a bit odd, but is it possible to use an NSCalendar (or any component, for that matter) to figure out what the date of the next "first tuesday of the month" would be? For example, today is Thursday March 25, 2010. The next "first tuesday of the month" would be on April 6. Likewise, if I were looking for the next "first tuesday of the month" on April 1, it would still be on April 6. How would you do this? Thanks very much!!!!!

  • Window 'onscreen' size puzzle

    - by Bender
Okay, a REALLY fundamental question about window sizes here... If I create an NSWindow in IB, set its size to 216 x 144 points (exactly 3 inches by 2 inches) then print the window, it measures exactly what I set it to in IB. However, the onscreen display size measures approximately 156 x 105 points. What causes this, and is there any way to force the window to display at the required size onscreen? I ultimately want to draw to this (semi-transparent) window then use it as a full-sized overlay for comparison against a separately loaded scanned image of known size.

  • Presenting a Popover From a Rect Problem

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have a UITableViewCell that has some labels and images that can be clicked. I want to present a popover whenever a user clicks on any part of the cell. How can I achieve this without interfering with the click actions of the labels & images? I am currently creating an invisible button ontop of some other clickable items in the cell and calling the popover: [replyPopover presentPopoverFromRect:CGRectMake(77, 25, 408, 68) inView:self permittedArrowDirections: UIPopoverArrowDirectionDown animated:YES]; Unfortunately, because the button is on top of the labels & images I am unable to click them. How can I show a popover by clicking on the background of a cell, so that there is no interference when clicking images & labels inside the cell?

  • What is the difference between moveBackward: and moveLeft: when using NSResponder -interpretKeyEvent

    - by nciagra
I'm implementing a custom text box using -interpretKeyEvents: and am trying to figure out what the difference is between moveBackward: vs moveLeft: and moveForward: vs moveRight:. moveLeft: is bound to the left arrow and moveBackward: is bound to Ctrl + B. The documentation describes them almost identically and they seem to behave identically in practice. I'm assuming this is just a holdover from Vim? Does anyone know what the real difference is? Should moveBackward: just call my moveLeft: implementation? Thanks a lot, Nick
