  • Does running IIS7 in classic mode affect MVC output caching?

    I have a need to run an application in classic mode for backwards compatibility with a specific application, and am trying to understand what kind of impact that will have on the performance of an MVC application that is running on the site. If we put a few static file maps (for .js, .css, .png, etc) above the ASP.NET wildcard map to reduce the amount of processing by the ASP.NET handler, will we be approaching the integrated mode in terms of performance? The thing i'm primarily concerned with is any effect this might have on output caching. I understand that integrated mode might (?) allow for the output cache to handle non ASP.NET content, but that isn't really a concern. We're more interested in ensuring that the MVC application has full use of the output cache. Empirically i've found that the two configurations operate on par when things go well, but if the page references resources that are not available, the integrated mode tends to fail much more quickly than the classic mode (e.g. 500 ms vs 10 seconds), reducing 'hang time' on the page load.   • Is there a unix command to output time elapsed during a command?

    I love using time to find out how long a command took to execute but when dealing with commands that execute sub-commands internally (and provide output that allows you to tell when each of those sub-commands start running) it would be really great to be able to tell after what number of seconds (or milliseconds) a specific sub-command started running. When I say sub-command, really the only way to distinguish these from the outside is anything printed to standard out. Really this seems like it should be an option to time.

  • Get Mail with PHP and IMAP in Gmail just loading

    I'm not sure why. Ive tried a bunch of different code. Wrote it myself, and copied other people's tutorials but every bit of code it's loading forever and eventually stops due to script processing times on the server. Does anyone know why? Oh, and IMAP is turned on, i get IMAP / Exchange on my iPhone from this same account fine.     I was using something like public int Test(System.Windows.Forms.ListBox.ObjectCollection Colecction) { } With this I want to pass just the ObjectCollection of the control, to sort, add and delete elements without passing the entire control, but someone told me that, this way of calling the collection, actualy, create an entire ListBox, making it a worst decition, than, passing a ListBox as a parameter.   • NFS server Windows 2008 - mounting via linux - input/output error help.

    I want to try mounting a folder with NFS - I set up the NFS sharing on a windows 2008 R2 server, specified hosts in the NFS permissions (by IP address) and mounted via /etc/fstab it mounts, but when I try to list the folder, I get 'input/output error' the owner/group on the local mount point look weird too? drwx------ 2 4294967294 4294967294 4096 2011-02-10 19:15 data/ I mounted in /etc/fstab as: 10.0.6.55:/share$ /media/data nfs soft,intr,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 What am I doing wrong?

  • Capturing output of find . -print0 into a bash array

    Using find . -print0 seems to be the only safe way of obtaining a list of files in bash due to the possibility of filenames containing spaces, newlines, quotation marks etc. However, I'm having a hard time actually making find's output useful within bash or with other command line utilities. The only way I have managed to make use of the output is by piping it to perl, and changing perl's IFS to null: find . -print0 | perl -e '$/="\0"; @files=<>; print $#files;' This example prints the number of files found, avoiding the danger of newlines in filenames corrupting the count, as would occur with: find . | wc -l As most command line programs do not support null-delimited input, I figure the best thing would be to capture the output of find . -print0 in a bash array, like I have done in the perl snippet above, and then continue with the task, whatever it may be. How can I do this? This doesn't work: find . -print0 | ( IFS=$'\0' ; array=( $( cat ) ) ; echo ${#array[@]} ) A much more general question might be: How can I do useful things with lists of files in bash?

    I've got the following at the start of a script Param( [string]$command, [string]$version = "1.1.0" ) This is fine, only I need for $version to not be a positional parameter, so that if you type .\script.ps1 run argument Then $args should contain argument and $version should be 1.1.0. Is this even possible? I know I can do it with a c# cmdlet, but it would be massively more convenient if I could deliver this as a single script.

  • XSL - How to disable output escaping for an attribute?

    I've had the following <a> tag: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url={@FileRef}&amp;id=5">...</a> One of the files is called "File's got apostrophe.xml". The output of the XSL is: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url=/blah/File&amp;#39;s got apostrophe.xml&id=5">...</a> The problem is the the apostrophe is HTML-escaped (twice?) into &amp;#39;, which breaks the link. I've also tried using <xsl:attribute>, with same results: <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="concat('http://myserver/_forms?url=', @FileRef, '&amp;id=5')" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> </xsl:attribute> </a> Outputting <xsl:value-of select="@FileRef" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> works well - the unescaped value is printed on the page. How can I set the attribute without escaping the string?

    This is a follow-up to Ignore files in git log -p and is also related to Making 'git log' ignore changes for certain paths. I'm using Git 1.9.2. I'm trying to use the pathspec magic :(exclude) to specify that some patches should not be shown in the output of git log -p. However, patches that I want to exclude still show up in the output. Here is minimal working example that reproduces the situation: cd ~/Desktop mkdir test_exclude cd test_exclude git init mkdir testdir echo "my first cpp file" >testdir/test1.cpp echo "my first xml file" >testdir/test2.xml git add testdir/ git commit -m "added two test files" Now I want to show all patches in my history expect those corresponding to XML files in the testdir folder.   • C++, class as parameter to a method, not template.

    So, I came across an interesting method signature that I don't quite understand, it went along the lines of: void Initialize(std::vector< std::string > & param1, class SomeClassName * p); what I don't understand is the "class" keyword being used as the parameter, why is it there?
