  • iPhone contact list emptied due to faulty sync?

    When I'm in an area with unreliable AT&T cell data reception (e.g. all of Manhattan during the day), my contact list sometimes disappears, and does not reappear for an extended period of time, sometimes hours. Does anyone know why this would happen? Would using manual-only sync remedy this? If I'm using manual sync by turning push sync off, how do I trigger a manual sync?

  • NK2 files doesn't keep the email addresses in memory

    When I send an email to someone outside the firm, when I only type the first letters of its name (Contact), I get the auto-suggest of the "Already-sent" users. So now, since a few days, the emails are not kept in memory by Outlook (NK2 file). I see that that file is only 2kb and on my old machine, it's almost 200kb (So a lot more email addresses kept in memory) Should I just rebuilt the Outlook profile or the whole Windows Profile? A simple Outlook reinstall or to build a new PC?

    Hi i am testing android E-mail application . I have configured an Exchange account where in i could find an option "Sync Contacts from this account" in Account settings. According to my understanding if i check "sync contacts from the account" option , i must be able to access contacts in the exchange account i have configured. But i don't know how to get/access these contacts in android email application. Can any one who have used this functionality or know about it can suggest to me how to make use of "Sync contacts" functionality.   • Scaling gwt's "Contacts" (sample project) AppController with MVP

    I'm just learning GWT so I'm still trying to sort out all of its quirks and features. I'm reading through the example they give illustrating the MVP pattern, and I pretty much get it, except I'm wondering about one thing. The AppController they use implements the ValueChangeHandler interface and the onValueChange method is triggered when history changes. My problem is with this onValueChange in the AppController (i've included it below for anyone who hasn't seen the sample project). It's doing a string comparison on the history token sent in and instantiating the appropriate presenter to handle the action. This is all fine and dandy for the sample app with 3 actions, but how would one scale this to a real app with many more actions? Sticking to this pattern would lead to a pretty large/ugly else if, but I'm still too new to GWT (and java) to infer a better pattern for larger apps.   • Implementing Autocompletion in iPhone UITextField for contacts in address book

    Hi, I would like to have a UITextField or UITextView in where as I do some input, alternatives will appear something similar to when you type an address in Mail Application, alternatives appear down and is possible tap them so get a better input user interface.(since there is no need to type the complete word or address or phone number) I do know how to fetch data from Address Book framework, also how to input text in UITextField/UITextView and its delegates but I don't know what kind of structure to use for fetching and showing data as the user do his/her input. I know basic CoreData if this matters, I hope I can get some help. UPDATE (2010/3/10): I don't have problem make a native-like GUI but I am asking about the algorithm, does any body knows what kind algorithm is best for this thing? maybe some binary tree? Or should I just fetch data from coredata everytime? Thanks Ignacio UPDATE (2010/03/28): I've been very busy these days, so I have not tried UISearchResults but it seems fine to me. It was documented that the there is need to send a GET request to the URL with the user's ID and returns the contact list in XML format. I tried the same but facing the authentication message 401 from browser, normal console java application and from jsp too I guess I must try it using the open social API package. Can anybody please guide or suggest the solution for this problem if possible please post any code sample for any similar application in JAVA as I found most samples are unclear and in JSON only.     Ok so I have a been making an addressbook application and have pretty much finished all the key features but I am looking to implement a sort feature in the program. I want to sort an Arraylist which is of a type called Contact (contactArray) which is a separate class which contains four fields; name, home number, mobile number and address. So I was looking into using the collection sort yet am not sure how i'd implement this. Is this the right sort I should be using / is it possible to use or should I look into making a custom sort?

  • Retrieving and displaying a contact name from a contact id while using a SimpleCursorAdapter

    I am storing information on the phone's contacts using a sqlite database. The fields I am storing are: _id, contact_id, body where _id is the row's id, contact_id is the phone contact's id and body is just a simple text which is the actual information I am storing. I'm using a SimpleCursorAdapter to map the data to the view, like so: Cursor cursor = database.fetchInformation(); // fetch info from DB String[] from = new String[] { CONTACT_ID, BODY }; int[] to = new int[] { R.id.contact, R.id.body }; SimpleCursorAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.row, cursor, from, to); getListView().setAdapter(adapter); What I would actually want is to get the contact name that is associated with this CONTACT_ID, and have that be shown in the view. I can't seem to find a simple solution. I've tried implementing my own SimpleCursorAdapter and rewriting setViewText(TextView, String) but it didn't work. Also, it just seems overly complicated for such a simple task. Any help? Thanks.

    I'm using Skype in Empathy thanks to telepathy-haze and pidgin-skype. I've also added MSN, Jabber (Gtalk), and Facebook. When I link contacts from MSN, Gtalk, and Facebook, there's no problem, but if I include a Skype contact, either nothing happens or Empathy crashes and after restarting I see that the Skype contact was never linked. Is the fact that Skype is not natively supported in Telepathy a problem for linking?

    I know how to get the entire contacts list using Google Contacts API (I get a session token and use Google's Zend package for PHP). But how can I get the person's name and email address? Currently, the Contacts API just seems to give all of the contacts. I'm not sure how to distinguish which email and name out of that list corresponds to the user's account. Is there an easy way to get the user's full name and email address? Any help would be useful. Thanks!

There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?
